Shane didn’t remember jumping the boards or tossing away his gloves and helmet, but next he knew his bare hands were grasping at the cold, drenched front of Ilya’s jersey. Whether it was the impact of another body or the strength finally leaving him, Ilya shakily sank to his knees, taking Shane with him. He heard someone from his bench scream for a medic.

“I need flowers with prominent reproductive structures.”
The man went completely still.
Ryland could feel his soul attempting to leave his body.
“For a plant anatomy lab,” he added quickly. “For my students. Middle school students. Not–” He cut himself off, because there was simply no end to that sentence that would improve his situation. Instead, he just weakly smiled, and added “Science.”

He was a grown man, he’d worked in countless labs before and sure he’d had some questionable outcomes but they’d just let him be the first scientist to study an alien life form! They should have more trust in him than this!
”Everyone in the world wants to get their hands on astrophage. Simon is here to protect you from them.” Stratt explained, turning again to give Grace an exasperated expression. “I should hope you don’t need constant supervision from yourself Dr. Grace.”

Shane was sprawled out on the warm wood of the dock, enjoying the midday sun. He cupped a hand over his eyes and turned his head to the side. “Have you ever heard of primal play?”
A chorus of sputtering and coughing rang out from his boyfriend, who was propped up on one elbow with a Coke can at his lips. Shane smiled smugly as he watched soda spurt from Ilya’s nose and mouth. He definitely hadn’t purposefully timed the question. Ilya thumped his chest firmly with his fist and wiped at his nose before turning to Shane with a frown.
“What?” He asked, his voice scratchy from choking.
“Primal play. Have you heard of it?” Shane replied, shrugging his shoulders as if he hadn’t been stressing over having this conversation for a solid week.

Ilya drops onto his knees, lips parted with panting breath and eyes wide and shiny with admiration. Shane swears that he feels his heart stop in his chest.
He’s seen Ilya on his knees plenty of times, but this time it feels different. There’s an unspoken energy that has shifted between the two men, it’s just that Shane has absolutely no brainpower left to figure it out. It feels like a hand has just clamped down on his throat and his dick is aching at the sight of Ilya like this.
