Now that Jaskier is traveling with Eskel, he tries to figure it out with the Witcher and they eventually make it to Kaer Morhen where Jaskier and Geralt have to figure out how to live with each other for the winter.
Jaskier also is struggling with controlling his new found magic too and with Geralt being around, it's hard for him to focus on it.

Kaeya wasn't sure of what to do anymore. The burden of his mission kept him up at night, he wanted answers and had no clue where to find them. With companions he wouldn't expect like a homunculus and someone who tried to drown a city, he was off on the perfect path.
In the end he has to choose between his homeland and the place where he considered to be much better than said homeland.
