In his most fearsome moments of doubt, San questioned the very foundations of his faith. Did his Lord truly wish him well, when He had sent a presence into his life that he would never be allowed to fully love? He wondered.
“Forgive me," he whispered to the heavens. "I saw not the evil, but the love, Father. Could he be of such ilk, when his eyes held so much love? Were the poets all wrong? Do eyes truly lie?"
For if Yunho, with his devoted caresses and whispered endearments, could evoke such feelings of love and longing within San's heart, then surely he could not be wholly evil.
