Before Tobirama could speak, Izuna shifted.
A small, wet sound clicked between his teeth.
Then he spat.
Something hit Tobirama’s cheek with a soft, sickening tap before dropping into the mud at his feet.
A finger.
Izuna’s voice followed, low and hoarse, dripping with blood and contempt. “Here. It doesn’t even taste good.”

And then — as if the storm itself bowed to the moment — the world stilled in the background.“All the things you see with those eyes of yours,” Tobirama murmured, voice low, steady, unbearably honest, “and you didn’t see me fall in love with you the first time I laid eyes on you.”
There.
He confessed.
Years of death. Endless violence.
Rules of what could and couldn’t be done. Should and shouldn’t be done.
