Summary
The dagger dug a sharp crevice in the wood of the table. Scraping back and forth before spinning in a neat circle. The pale hand that gripped the handle clenched slim fingers every few Seconds, the only tell of the omega's irritation. Harsh eyes bore down from the slightly raised días. The Scrutiny was not foreign nor unexpected by the other occupants of the hall as they supped.
‘Aerion.’ Maekar’s voice cut through the echo of clinking cutlery, scraping against porcelain plates and the crackle of the roaring fire on the hearth.
Aerion did not look up from his plate. Spearing a cooling spud with the tip of his dagger, bringing it to his lips.
‘You. Will. Run.’ Maekar continued.

"Many years later, when the wind of the Red Mountains of Dorne blew across the massive scales of the black dragon, Valarr would always remember that distant morning, the way his father smiled as he donned his helm."

Summary
Valarr kneels every evening in the second pew of the church, praying for a soul that was never meant to be saved. He does not yet know that faith is its own kind of thirst, or that caring for someone could taste like copper and feel like surrender.

Summary
In the summer of 1982, under the scalding sun of a stifling season where cicadas wailed from the pines, Aerion Targaryen dropped to his knees in the scorched dirt of West Plains, Missouri, and screamed the air out of his lungs.
Following his father’s death, Valarr moves South to live with his uncle and cousins. It only gets worse from there.

Summary
“I’m not your father. I’m not here to punish you. But I don’t want to watch you destroy yourself like this.” Valarr paused. “You think I enjoy being dragged out of bed in the middle of the night? I have a meeting at ten. I’ve been handling everything Dad left behind alone for almost a week. I should be in bed right now, but instead I’m here taking care of you because you didn’t want to call your driver, didn’t want your father to find out, and somehow managed to lose your key card too.”
Valarr had to constantly keep Aerion on track after his university performance began to slip due to burnout. But in the process, he couldn’t help but start developing feelings for Aerion.
