Summary
In order to reduce his sentence, Simon makes a deal to go onto the SM-13 and collect data from the blood ocean. He doesn’t know the extent of what that means until it’s too late.
Grace, formerly a scientist but now a criminal, was shunned from society for being a survivor of one of the greatest catastrophes since the Quiet Rapture. He decides to volunteer for a research mission to put good to his name.
They end up stuck together, untied only by a shared goal and a desire to survive. Things do not go smoothly aboard the Iron Lung.

Doctor Ryland Grace is not dead. Far from it, he lived. He recovered from his starvation and (some) of his traumas, and can now live a peaceful life in his very own biodome. That is until the day that the sky cracks, and the planet shudders. Something has entered the atmosphere, bringing with it visions of viscera and tragedy, and... humanity? He can't sit by and do nothing, but will he risk the safety of Erid and it's people for his own greed?
Convict Simon, aka "The Butcher", wants to live. It's all he's ever wanted. When he's sealed away into the creaking darkness of his makeshift sub, he knows his chances are slim. That is, until he starts to hear a voice. It soothing, happy, free. It even calls itself a grace. Why does he feel like he knows that voice more and more with each passing sentence? Like he's... known it before?
Aka, Simon learns to trust again and Grace heals, and they both find love.

Summary
Going through the report has his brain gears steaming. It's a lot. Logs of vessel depth, design and composition (iron mostly, with the other metal trappings of a human design with electrical cables), radiation output and source (x-ray and a buttload of it!), readings and scans of the biomass enveloping the vessel (a tree, of all things). More blood readings because the thing was utterly flooded with the stuff (same composition as the sample he coughed out, lovely to know and think about), and the final logs of the containment and quarantining of the vessel inside the Blip-A.
The team was coming back home to Erid, and in double time. Because Grace gets to the important part of the report. Perhaps the single most important one since he arrived on Erid.
They found another human inside the vessel.
