The planets nodded, and Neptune didn’t really know what he was agreeing to, but he nodded as well.
“Good.” Earth nodded back, turning to unlock the gate, “Now please try not to get into trouble or get hurt. This is a public pool so there will be other humans here, so I’m taking a big risk by trusting you guys. Can you promise me there won’t be any incidents?”
The planets nodded, and Earth hesitated for a split second, hand lingering over the lock of the gate. Neptune shifted his weight from side to side, excitement buzzing in his ears. Just open it already! He wants to swim!
Earth sighed, muttering something under his breath and, finally, opening the gate.

"Sit!" Metis craned her neck to see the planet, patting the open spot between her and Elara. No chairs then, huh? It's fine, he can sacrifice his back for a little fun. Jupiter dropped down (ignoring the way his knees cracked at the movement), shifting his weight to be in a more comfortable position.
Jupiter scanned the toys scattered around, "So…what's the game?"
"It's a tea party!" Metis grinned, picking up one of the cups and clinking it with Elara's. A tea party? Aren't the little moons not supposed to have drinks in their rooms? It's a mess to clean up if they spill, and who knows what kind of stuff they could sneak in.
Jupiter frowned, grabbing one of the toy cups and–
Oh. It was empty.

Dear Diary,
I think that's what this is? I mean…it says 'Diary' on the cover, so like it couldn't really be anything else, right? I don't even know what a diary is…
Ah, wait! I'm getting ahead of myself! I didn't even introduce myself–or, wait, do you introduce yourself in your own diary? Nobody else is going to read this, it's just going to be mine (hopefully nobody will read it. It's mine. Nobody should be snooping around, I have rights to my own privacy!!!), so it sounds kinda stupid to tell a bloody book who I am.
…which is another problem. I don't really know who I am–which isn't that big of a deal, don't worry!!! It's just a little annoying. I want to have a name, I want to know who I am, I want to know my purpose in life.
It can't just be this…right?

He’s the Sun. He’s a star! He can do this. It’s just some more walking. That’s all. He can walk, right? Of course he can! It’s simple! The planets leave their orbits all the time and make it look easy. It doesn’t matter if this is technically the first time Sun has left his orbit, he’s supposed to be strong and fierce—an indomitable force to be reckoned with.
Yes. Yes, he can do this.
He has to—if not for him, for the beings cradled in his arms.

Sun returns, with hi- the celestials in tow, exhausted and injured but alive.

Summary
Eventually the others catch on. He stops being allowed to be alone on his surface. Whenever he thinks he is, he feels their gravity. Where sunlight is, the sun can follow after all.
Earth works around this. He brings everyone down to his surface for a trip to go exploring in caves!
There’s an earthquake and it caves in, but only on the place Earth was exploring.
“I can’t control those types of things!” He says, shrugging when Mercury confronts him back in space, “it just happens.”
It ‘just happens’ a lot.
But Earth can’t—won’t—stop.

His moons, who always said his name correctly and had wanted to talk to him from the start. Not by them.
This was perhaps the one time Uranus should have left them with someone else.
He teared up, fighting the wetness in his eyes despite the pressure it caused in his head, as he held out a single finger for his moon to take. Violenta, ever curious, took it instantly, giggling and nuzzling into the warmth of his surface.
Uranus wasn't warm. He was the coldest planet in the solar system.
But he was warm compared to their surroundings.
"...You deserve better, mate." He sniffed, trailing with the pad of his finger down her cheek. The little moon purred contentedly, wings instantly relaxing and drooping behind her. "You really, really do."

Looking for planets to rescue in the emptiness of space isn't as easy as the rogue planets made it out to be. Uranus didn't want to be doing this.
And he didn't want to doom his moons with him.
...Moons who are very, very scared. And very, very bored.

Summary
Waking up on the surface of Earth was bad enough.
Waking up as a squishy Earthling was worse.
And waking up as an Earthling that both does not exist and also posses a threat to the dominant Life on the planet was outright disastrous.The planets and a selection of moons have all found themselves in the bodies of dragons, stuck on the surface of a planet they have little knowledge of how to survive on. With the vague goal of reaching the North Pole with everyone alive and intact, the group will have to contend with some of the hardest challenges the surface can throw at them. All while avoiding the notice of the humans, who will surely hunt them down or capture them as threats or curiosities.
(Unrelated to my other fics. Set after the exile of Ganymede and Europa.)
