Summary
Ryland Grace is almost to Erid, Rocky at his side, when he discovers a planet that isn't on any of their star-maps. They send a probe down to investigate and find a person near-death with a mysterious origin: Simon.
Grace keeps having dreams, flashes of Simon's life through vivid nightmares. He can't explain any of these strange happenings with any known science or reason. On top of everything else - he worries that his relationship with this man could be tenuous, and he's already become attached.
Simon is none the wiser. He tries to accept that he's finally been given his freedom, but he can't shake the feeling that one wrong move will put him right back in a new prison. Or worse. This man has shown him nothing but kindness, but there's an imbalance between them. If he finds out the truth about Simon's past, what would he do?

The whole thing was starting to feel a little silly.
Grace had guided Simon into the bedroom of their new home. Now they sat cross legged, facing each other on the mattress.
It had been about a month since they'd first kissed. Grace definitely, definitely wasn’t counting the days. They had snuck a few more kisses in here and there. They were becoming more frequent, and more intense, but that was it.
Simon had finally let it slip that he didn't really know what else was even an option. It wasn’t something they educated him about on Eden. He’d been a little young to be taught on Mars, either. Simon said he never had much interest in experimenting before, at least not with anyone but himself.

Medic needs a new plaything like he needs a hole in the head. He'd give anything to be able to get this man alone so that he can pick him apart.

Summary
Ryland Grace has never been skilled with people. It seems like every time he gets close to someone something goes wrong.
It really felt like things were going to work out with Carl. It's not like it was his fault. He was doing his job. Grace can't hold that against him. Fighting against his orders could have doomed Earth. And Erid.
He never would have met Rocky. It took meeting an alien for Grace to have a connection that felt simple. Natural.
There were a lot of unnatural things about Simon. He'd be lying if he said they didn't draw him in. Could he really be unlucky enough to fumble a relationship with the only other human on this side of the galaxy?- Words:
