Lucanis Dellamorte was given a contract : find the kidnapped wife of a powerful Magister, kill her abductor, and bring her back to Tevinter.
Simple enough. Or it would be, if only the abductor in question wasn't Emmrich Volkarin and the wife in question, who goes by Rook now, wasn't terrified of going back to her husband.... and if only Lucanis hadn't been betrayed by one of his own.

This started as a fill for the DAK asking for Lucanis to have a contract on Emmrich before the start of the game. It derailed from there, and now it's a multichapters story that goes into the events of the game itself.
Will eventually be Lucanis/Emmrich/Rook.

Krieg drew to a halt in front of Maya, who was looking up at him with clear eyes. A phaselock orb hovered in front of her, and she continued to sustain it as he struggled to form some semblance of a coherent sentence.
“Pretty lady,” he finally managed, spitting the phrase out fiercely.
Maya’s expression didn’t change, although she let the orb of dark energy consume itself and disappear. “What do you want, Krieg?” she asked quietly.

Ten years after the defeat of the Archdemon, Zevran has carried his fight against the Crows back home to Antiva. He receives unexpected visitors during a lull in the carnage, including his Warden, Nora Cousland. He lost her to another long ago, partly because he couldn't acknowledge how he truly felt. It's tempting for him to see this as a second chance, but he suspects that she may need her old friend more than her old lover.
Zevran isn't quite sure if her presence is a blessing or a curse, but he's grateful for it either way.
