Summary
After the events of Starcourt, it's hard for Steve to go back to normal, if there ever was a normal.
Nightmares plague him, keeping him from falling asleep and just making his life miserable.
His friends help of course, but sometimes it just isn't enough. He needs to escape somewhere...Eddie lives alone in the forest of Hawkins, he likes it that way even if his uncle presses him to get out more.
He does want to go out, he does. There's just one problem that his uncle seems to ignore.
They're vampires.----

“You’re not gonna believe this,” Ekko says, slightly out of breath. “So I’m hustling Talis down at the forge, right? And I’m giving him the works.”
He ticks off ‘the works’ on his fingers as he elaborates, “I complimented his work, I name dropped Councilor Medarda, I went on and on about how much her investment really means to us, since you know their families are like this,” he crosses two fingers together tightly.
An effective visual, surely, had Viktor actually been looking.
“Then, I mentioned our project scaling up and he hooked it up for free.”
That, finally, gets Viktor’s full attention. He spins around on his stool, flipping his goggles onto his forehead. The heavy thud of Ekko’s haul is enough to imply just how big of a ‘hook up’ this was.
“What exactly did you say to him?”

As the days and weeks go by, Jayce realizes, the house might be bigger than it seems (and Viktor might be closer that he thought).

The second thing he noticed was the floor he was sprawled onto, cobblestone filled with holes that gathered puddles, the stone was slimy under his fingers, and his attire was stained by mud—over other things.
The third thing he noticed was a crushing hand to his neck and a punishing choke to his wind pipe.
