Summary
He sits at his desk and thinks to himself about the story he can never tell.
It isn't the story of the mage; that, perhaps, is the easiest story to tell. An acceptable one, a story of love and loss, of power and politics, of magic and monsters.
The stories he grew up on are the same stories he's doomed to tell now. Of supernatural entities and learned helplessness.
No, the story he can never tell is one he's never seen or read before. One that could never have a happy ending.
It goes like this:
Four boys playing a tabletop role-playing game in a basement. Loud, chaotic, wild. There is a distinct air of youth surrounding them. They are untouched by trauma and unharmed by life.

Summary
There’s something wrong with Will.
It started three weeks ago, almost four. Will had woken from some sort of nightmare and, instead of seeking comfort in Mike the way he usually would, he’d rolled out a sleeping bag from the closet and chosen to sleep on the floor.
No one believes Mike, except for Joyce. But even she doesn’t understand the full extent to which something is wrong with Will.
Mike understands, though. Mike has been paying attention.

Summary
He’d stared at Will without really seeing him, so caught up in his own thoughts—a constant, monotonous beat of oh my God, I’m alive. Oh my God, Will has powers. Oh my God, he saved me.
And then—
Oh my God, he’s beautiful.
The thought had stopped him short, had landed with a soft and devastating clarity.
Beautiful.
That single word had broken something open within him, something he’d spent years reinforcing with lock and chain and prayer and denial.
After Will saves Mike from the demogorgon at the MAC-Z, Mike finally lets himself acknowledge a truth he's been running from for years:
He is in love with Will Byers.
Now all Mike has to do is come to terms with that truth—especially when Joyce sees it too.

"Signals?"
"Yeah, you know, like a brush of the knee, a bump of the elbow, a shared look. That kind of thing."

Summary
It’s fine. It’s totally fine. He’ll just go to sleep- and when he wakes up tomorrow, he’ll forget that this crisis had ever even happened. He closes his eyes, and tries to turn off his brain. It shouldn’t be too hard, probably. He’s heard Max make that joke enough times to suspect that there might be some truth in it. After all, Mike has spent this long being oblivious. Surely, he can manage one night more.
Not even an hour later, he finds himself climbing up Will’s bedroom window.
Mike has more realisations in one night than in two whole years. It's all Jonathan's fault.

Summary
The world is quite literally ending. His girlfriend just broke up with him. Mike can't stop thinking about Will.
“Will can stay with me.”
Will looks up from the spot he was looking at on the floor. “What? I can?”
“Stay at my house tonight.”
Will plays with his own fingers. Mike can't stop looking at them. “What? Mike, why? I’ll be okay here.”
“It’s just one night,” Mike says, a little loudly, a little desperate.
“Okay,” Will replies, a little loudly, also a little desperate, a little too fast like he had been meaning to say yes the entire time. “Yeah… Yeah, I’ll stay over.”
And now they’re here. Both sitting on Mike’s bed with the most crushing tension hanging over them. Mike wants to die in it.

Summary
It’s always been Mike and Will since the day that they met, and so life goes as follows – they stick by one another throughout everything, from campaigns to demogorgons, and yet somehow they can’t quite see what it is they’ve been missing (or ignoring) this whole time.

Summary
Harry is resigned; he has to die.
As the last string tying Voldemort to his immortality, he has to die in order to save the world. So, when he walks into the woods and stands in front of Lord Voldemort, he’s not afraid. That was before Hermione and Ron decided to interfere because, of course, they wouldn’t let him die on his own. Swallowed by a giant sphere of magic, Harry and his friends find themselves in an unknown place that looks like Hogwarts before the war, and none of them can tell where they are.
And Harry must find a way to control himself to not throw an unforgivable at the head of seventh year Tom Riddle.

Summary
I may be ice. As frigid and deceptively fragile as frost at dawn—an apt crown for aphelion of the tantalising warmth that has ever tempted but never thawed me. Yet I’m also summer. Mesmerising menace masked by mirth, debauched bearer of every earthly delight, purveyor of such luminescence that I rival Sol, although I’m damned myself to gloom that only a half–denizen of the Void can know.
He may be fire. As fervid and dazzlingly ferocious as wildfire at zenith, subjugated to the furious tempest that rages within him, mercilessly as surf ravages scar, demanding immolation on a protean pyre—for whom does he burn tonight? Yet he’s also winter. Winsome woe of reckoning, scourge to the sublime and dread of the decadent, although all he covets in these worlds are the halcyon days he’s due.
We are both creatures of contradictions. It’s why we understand one another. But it’s not lost on me that ice and fire cannot mingle without the frailer’s demise, that summer and winter never meet anywhere but the Ice. We tried for temperance.
We failed.

Summary
There were rumours. Mere whispers, spoken in the dark alleyways of Knockturn Alley and its underbelly slums, of a boy, or perhaps a young man, with green eyes and a strange affinity for the dead. A necromancer of some sort. Some said he lured people in to steal their souls. Others said that he would make the dead speak and reveal secrets thought lost - for a price, of course.
Voldemort did not know what the truth was, and he did not care to know. The only thing Voldemort was concerned with was if the boy would prove useful.
(And putting an end to this maddening obsession).
___Harry was not particularly happy to find himself in the past, wearing somebody else’s skin, and without a single knut to his name. And he was even less enthusiastic to learn that he had caught Voldemort’s attention. But he would make do, as he always has done.

Summary
“Harry Potter.”
The cold burrowed into his flesh; the scent of cloying death and molding earth clogged his senses.
“The Boy Who Lived.”
A strange sense of unimaginable loss and disappointment rose inside of Harry. That brilliant, yet cruel boy could’ve been so much more if he’d not stepped down this bloodied path.
Terrible, but great. He pitied this creature.
“Come to die.”
Harry Potter faced the flash of green light with the bravery of a Gryffindor and the broken heart of a Hufflepuff.
When Death gives Harry a third option, one that can save everyone he ever cared about, he takes it unflinchingly. Even when that means doing the impossible: falling in love with the enemy, Tom Riddle.

"I will kill Voldemort, and I want you to help me."
Riddle raised an eyebrow, Harry leant forward with pleading eyes. This was his favourite Professor, the one who had helped him when others had refused to, and the one who he thought he could trust with his life.
(Or, Harry asks Professor Riddle for help in killing Voldemort, Riddle is endlessly amused.)
