Alicia paused again, which piqued Oliver’s curiosity this time. She was leaning casually against the goalpost, but he could see she was slightly edgy, her nonchalance a little too forced. “Out with it, Spinnet,” he said firmly, raising his water bottle back to his mouth.
“I want to lose my virginity to you.”
Oliver reflexively tightened his hand then jumped when cold water dribbled down the front of his shirt. “Your what?” he shouted, his voice embarrassingly high and shrill.
“My virginity,” she repeated slowly.

Alicia flew to feel free. Oliver flew because he didn't know how to stop.
Alicia Spinnet's dad locked her broom under the stairs and called it love. He'd already lost her mother. He wasn't going to lose her too. Alicia learned young asking doesn't work. Words don't matter. She flew with Cedric behind her dad's back instead. Finding freedom and family at the Diggory's in a way she didn't get at home.
Oliver Wood's dad put him on a broom before he could walk. A Scottish Keeper's son raised on a professional pitch. Every ounce of love he had was funneled through Quidditch. So Oliver learned you prove your worth by winning. And when you care about the wrong thing at the wrong time, you lose everything.
