He couldn't treat a wife like this, Madara thinks, cruelly—cruel to whom, he isn't sure. But there's vitriol in the thought, venom, and triumph. Only he contends. Only he dares.
His body hurts in almost too many places to count. His limbs are sore from their fight, his jaw kills, he aches deep inside, where he's split open, driven into again and again. Piss leaves a bitter aftertaste in his molars. And Madara couldn't be happier.

Summary
The line between safety and danger blurs just so and makes each touch a scalding brand, marks the weight and scent of Madara to be as much a boon as a peril. He could tear out my throat, Tobirama thinks, quaking in fear. He’s breeding me, he thinks, and shakes, awash with pleasure. At any rate it's too late to do a thing. Tobirama sealed his own fate the moment he stepped uninvited through that door.

Summary
The wooden grain has drawn seasonably cold, but the sake is warm, infusing heartily into Hashirama’s gut with every sip. The street ahead is awash with the fiery glow of a hundred festival lanterns, barely hindered by the gentle snowfall sprinkling down from the heavens; gently, they flicker. Their light paints the snowflakes red and gold.
From up the mountain, the heavy temple bell can be heard ringing out to its one-hundred and eighth repetition. To cleanse the soul, it is said.
Hashirama inhales deeply despite the bite of chilly air. Like if he just breathes, this moment will imprint onto his soul, scrubbing every imperfection until he too is painted gold. It’s so merry here, this New Year’s Eve. He'd like to keep this night in his pocket, freeze it forever in a globe, so it can henceforth illuminate his way.

After that, maybe, he can go carve out a quiet life for himself somewhere kinder.
If only it were that simple: a crew, a heist, an angry netrunner squatting in his brain—Night City has a way of hanging on to people.
(When Tobirama closes his eyes he's cyber-royalty, seated atop a gleaming fortress of data. He wakes up an incorporeal digi-ghost in some street urchin's head. This has to be Madara's fault.)
