Summary
One night in November of 1983, a boy goes missing from Hawkins, Indiana.
He is just a body, a thick cuff locked around his ankle, chained with iron to a bolt on the hardwood floor. He is just a body, locked inside of a bedroom with an empty closet, a bed, a nightstand, and a cage. He doesn’t look at the cage if he can help it. He looks outside. He is just a body, staring out at a backyard he’s never been allowed to enter, where the grass is starting to brown from the heat of the sun. All he can see is dusty grass and tall trees, and a little shed at what must mark the edge of the property.
Only there is a body. Another body. A real human body—only, that can’t be right. Steve hasn’t seen anyone in … he doesn’t know how long it’s been, since the blonde man took him here. The blonde man doesn’t want him to see anyone, to be seen by anyone. All he wants is for Steve to be his, and to turn Steve into a body.
The other body is in the yard, moving on clever legs with slow graceful steps. His head swivels from side to side quickly as if he is looking for something. It makes his long curls sweep across his shoulders.

Summary
Everyone hears the rumors. Billy Hargrove and Steve Harrington are caught by Old Man Hargrove doing—something. The gossip mill can’t decide on what exactly, but everyone agrees: something gay went down.
A week later, the rundown trailer next door to Eddie is full.
At first, Eddie gets it. Hargrove and Harrington are both assholes, so of course they’re together. Sure, the fact that they’re gay is a bit of a shock but the fact that two dickhead jocks would choose to be together—makes perfect sense. But after weeks and then months of sharing cigarettes with Harrington whenever he needs to escape the screaming fights waiting for him inside, things shift in his head. Eddie doesn’t get it anymore.

Summary
Eddie imagines that Steve Harrington probably thinks that he is real hot shit. On top of being a rich prom king, he is also an eroptomancer. A love seer. A soulseer, some people call them – someone able to see the weird magic that connects people in a predestined shit storm of a craps game. He probably thinks he’s real goddamn special. One in a million special.
It’s actually closer to one in five million, but who’s counting?

Summary
He had messed up long and hard this year. He failed yet another senior year. He'd almost lost out on having a boyfriend because he was a dumbass. And, he'd almost alienated everyone in Hellfire, see previously, being a dumbass.
He had been introduced to the fact that magical powers exist, and his first reaction had been to blackmail the guy.
—
After spending six months being an asshole, Eddie somehow still had a boyfriend. He might be a freak and a loser, but he had a second chance with the kindest and hottest guy he’d ever met. He wasn’t going to mess up again. Even if it meant he had to pretend and play the love interest NPC to Steve’s daring Paladin. He wasn’t good enough to be what Steve needed as himself, but he could play the role of the guy Steve deserved until Steve realized he could do better. That is until Steve’s adopted little sister comes to him in the middle of a rainy night asking for help, and Eddie gets sucked into the Big Mystery. Is Eddie actually an NPC in Steve’s life and the adventure against the forces of darkness, or is he the right guy for the job?

Summary
Steve pivoted back to his original demand. “You can’t tell anyone.” Munson scoffed. “I mean it. You cannot tell anyone about this.”
“What’s in it for me if I don’t?” Eddie said as he stood up to his full height and crossed his arms.
+++
In a last-ditch attempt to live and create a new leader for their hive mind, the vines in the tunnel released a (probably) toxic goop right into Steve’s face. Getting powers from the Upside Down was the cherry on the shit sundae Steve had been served since Halloween.
All he wanted to do was graduate in peace, left alone to lick his wounds and mourn the loss of his relationship with Nancy and the loss of his popularity in private. It turns out the Spring of ‘85 might be when he finally finds a family, real friends, and a very unexpected romance.
