Summary
Jasper was taking his normal midnight stroll, lanterns illuminating the path, stars shining through the barren branches. Their breath came out in white puffs, akin to smoke from a fireplace. Icicles hung from the branches of the trees and the cliffs of lampposts. Ice coats the dirt and leaves on the ground.
I walk down the path, my boots grabbing the slippery ground while my cheeks and ears redden from the cold. My warm breath warms my cheeks, fleeting quickly, cold gripping it again. I cup my hands and blow a breath into them warming them up.
I stumble and fall into a down into a hole, plunging myself into darkness.

Grian presumed his soul was actively leaving his body – providing him with just another last minute delusion to take him into the next life - until he heard music.
His tired delusions were a lot of things, but they were never music.
Grian blinked, once, twice, then a third time. Still, the shape on the horizon didn’t fade. The light didn’t fade. The music didn’t fade. This wasn’t the blurry shadow of what may or may not be a rock, or the light of the moon against a wave imitating a town. This was a genuine miracle. This was his relief.

It took the barest glance at his surroundings to figure out that he wasn’t in the vents anymore, but in a dingy alley. He had been sitting right next to a trash can, which explained the smell that was just now washing over him. The walls were plastered with black and white, peeling posters advertising local nightclubs and shops- none of which, upon his first glance through, he recognized. One of them, which advertised a place called Samuel's, declared a MIDNIGHT SHOW- Every Saturday- 25 cents a ticket.
25 cents. A ticket.
Triple futz.
It didn’t take Tony Stark to figure out where Clint was. Or, actually, when he was. Which was definitely not any time in the past thirty years at least. Twenty five cents. Jesus christ.
Clint slumped against the wall, raking his hands through his hair. “Aww, time travel, no,” he muttered, entirely to himself. He had been having such a good day too. Completely incident free. Except that he had accidentally knocked over Bucky’s coffee this morning in the communal kitchen and fled instantly. But he wasn’t ready to deal with the mortifying ordeal of thinking about that yet.

Post-HYDRA Bucky may have the empathy of a snake and affect flatter than a sheet of paper, but Steve’s determined to fix that by recruiting Clint for some friendly rehabilitation.
Clint’s down to hang out with Bucky. He’s even down for the extended nightmare tour of Russian fairytales that comes along with it. It’s the third-wheeling for two melodramatic supersoldiers that gets to be a bit much, though.

The only thing Clint Barton hates more than being benched is being the damsel in distress. But he's willing to tolerate a daring rescue when it comes from a tall, dark and handsome not-really stranger. And if he gets to spend some time with that smoking hot assassin whilst convincing him to reunite with Steve, then that’s just a bonus.
One year free from Hydra’s clutches and staying on the run has kept Bucky Barnes pretty busy. Coming back to New York, he'd intended to keep his head down and out of trouble. But here he is, keeping an eye on Clint Barton. But maybe this job is one that's worth the risk.
