It wasn’t enough for him to give in to an impulsive decision, a forgivable slip he could recover from somehow, maybe by passing it off as a joke or backing out before it was too late. No, when Harry fucked up, he did it properly, making sure there was no chance of saving himself. Impulsive decisions were for amateurs, Harry nurtured the tiny, spontaneous seed of his fuck-ups until it blossomed into a lush and fruit-laden plant, then protected it by building an impenetrable fortress around it, safe from any enemy, but most of all from common sense and self-preservation.
Harry was fucked, and he’d done it all with his own hands.

Summary
Harry stopped beside him and clinked his rings against the handle of the cart to the beat of Deck the Halls. “So, does this mean we have to kiss?” Harry joked, a tentative smile twitching at his lips.
Louis startled, dropping the magazine in a flutter of glossy pages. He stared up at Harry and followed his gaze, catching on the cheap faux greenery dangling over their heads. He scoffed, “the only thing you’ll be kissing is my ass.”
“Oh?” Harry laughed, grinning like an idiot. “That wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world, considering it’s a rather nice ass.”
That had Louis’ cheeks glowing red, his eyes widening. “Excuse you?”
Then the alpha giggled, he fucking giggled. “I’m not blind and you’re not that dumb. It’s a good one.”
Louis’ mouth opened and closed, practically fish-mouthing as he stared in disbelief at the man. He was the biggest, weirdest oxymoron Louis had seen.
(Harry and Louis have to play Mr and Mrs Claus at a frat party and don’t get on, but keep getting stuck under mistletoe until they do)

“Hi Harry,” he greets shyly. “Sorry, let me step aside, you can -,” Louis gestures around him, his feet accidentally kicking against the box. “I didn’t realize the delivery person would just drop it here and not at my door.”
Harry hums, but doesn’t move around him. “Is it heavy? I can help you carry it.”
Louis starts shaking his head before Harry even finishes his sentence. “No, that’s kind, but no. I can do it.” Because, well, Harry has a bit of a reputation as being the building’s curmudgeon. He’s been known to complain about loud music, and even snapping at some of the younger residents, let alone the few times that Louis has had the experience of running into him in the mailroom and when taking the trash down. Honestly, Louis doesn’t have the emotional wherewithal to handle him right now.
Harry doesn’t quite meet his eyes when he turns to look at Louis. But, Louis notices his jaw tick and his eyes close briefly before saying: “I think I should help.”
And, well, okay.
Or: Louis has touch depri and Harry is the alpha neighbor that offers to help.
