The problem with keeping actual, hell-born ghouls on a leash was that no matter how thick the leather, no matter how many times it was soaked in holy water by the most virgin of nuns, a leash would simply not do. Nor would chains, metal bars, locks, traps or sacred seals written in every language ever spoken on earth.
And those not alive, those impure and foul arising from other worlds would taste the shivers of unease and salivate from the flavour of excitement and doubt. The pure human realisation of fear, of a lack of faith was fuel for those unholy, and to them it tasted divine in the most sacrilegious of ways. Watching her from the darkness with wide eyes and open mouths, drooling and hungering as she was none the wiser.
