The cat did not move. But its eyes just barely slid open and then red met blue and Sherlock froze.
Or, William murders a nobleman who had been practicing ritualistic curses on the lower class, only to become cursed himself and turned into a cat.
Luckily enough, Sherlock just so happens to find him at the crime scene.
