Summary
After Earth fixes the Sun, they send a manned mission to Erid to say hello. The crew doesn't expect to find Ryland Grace still alive and kicking - least of all Dr. Olivia Nelson, who just so happens to be one of his final students on Earth. Olivia, who was just expecting to do some cool extraterrestrial science, now has to reorient her life around that fact.

Summary
Everyone knew him as one of the brave and incredible astronauts from Project Hail Mary. The lead scientist of the mission where he discovered Astrophage, delivered Taumoeba, saved stars, and befriended aliens. Dr. Captain Ryland Grace, he called himself in his last video message to Earth.
Olivia knew him simply as Mr. Grace first.
Or, after the beetles make their way back to Earth, Olivia is quick to jump on the first ever mission to Erid to meet their interstellar neighbors. After all, if her middle school teacher could take a trip to space, why couldn't she?
And maybe, she might understand what it was that made him leave without so much as a goodbye to her and his other students.
