After the fire, Nancy had ended up in a mental institution with the accusation of killing her mother weighing heavy on her shoulders. Her father barely talked to her anymore; the last time she’d seen him at all it was when he drove her here and checked her in. Her father said she needed help. A kind of help she couldn’t get at home. So now she was in an institution whose name she didn’t know spending 90% of her time doped up on their ‘help’.
She hadn’t had any visits, not that she was surprised. Her friends were all dead and she was pretty sure her father hated her now.
The only visitor she had left was Frederick Krueger.

Crimson Countess leaned in as far as her bindings allowed, scanning his face and just eating up the confusion she found. Her voice dropped to a conspiratorial, poisonous whisper.
“You honestly don’t remember, do you? Then again, why would you? Just another average day for you. Another notch in your bedpost.” She let out another cackle, this one genuinely amused.
“Oh, come on, Ben! Remember the betting pool?” she continued, her smile widening into something vicious and triumphant.
The world seemed to tilt for Ben. The trailer vanished, the smell of gin and damp carpet replaced by the scent of vanilla and honey.
He remembered.
The memory hit him with the force of a physical blow.

Hughie realises that she’s impervious to damage when she’s five and falls off the roof of her family home. She lands hard enough that the stone slab in the garden cracks. Her mother screams, her father passes out, and… she just sits up and asks what’s wrong. Her mother checks her over while her father panics but she’s okay, they make her promise to never tell anyone.
Hughie is sixteen and holding her new baby boy when she realises she’s fucked. Because her father is dying, Robin is about to dump her with the excuse of needing to focus on his studies and not a kid, apparently Kathy McGrady is named Studies now, who knew? And the first thing her baby did when he opened his eyes was try and blast her head off with fucking laser eyes.
Hughie Is twenty-one when her life falls apart. Her dad is dead, cancer in his prostate, brain and liver. Robin has stopped paying child support (like fuck she was telling the asshole that their baby was a supe). And she's let Anthony convince her to have a night on the town. She doesn't know what happened but it has to be something awful to have Vaught standing on her doorstep while her hung-over ass tries to feed her kid soggy cereal.

Hughie Campbell’s is perfectly average. She works a shift-based job in an electronics store; her dad constantly over worries about her but loves her enough to make up for it. And her ex is on good enough terms with her to joke about burning one of her tops (even if every message and call breaks a little more of her heart).
It’s all perfectly normal until she crosses the street to get lunch, and A-Train runs into her. Now, if this were as perfectly normal as Hughie’s life should be, then she’d be a smear on the road. The problems start when, instead of killing her or at the very least taking her foot off, A-Train’s leg connects with her foot and just… snaps in half, sending him flying, then skidding down the street.
This gets the world's attention, but even worse, it gets Homelander’s attention because this is the first time he’s ever met someone who might actually understand him.

It was a normal day for John, being the labrat at the mercy of Vogelbaum. But one day he met someone inside his dream:
“John, look! It’s VoughtLand!”
John looked incredulously at his surroundings, “You brought me outside?”
Young Hughie smiled with the radiance of a thousand sun, “I wanted to see you happy.”
A fic where John has the power to meet someone in his mind. He felt so lonely that he accidentally dragged Hughie into his dream. Every day they played together, until one day Hughie moved to New York and John couldn't contact him anymore. The scientist drugged him everyday to get rid of his hallucinations.
But all of a sudden a stranger appeared in his dream, a never before occurrence.
The stranger stepped backwards in fear, “Are you… John?”
