“Arthur...”, she hesitated for a moment, “If there was a chance of healing Merlin but it would go against everything our father taught us, would you do it?”
The Prince tore his gaze away from Merlin, looking now directly at her and she could see a flicker of hope in his blue eyes.
“Even if that meant using magic to heal him?”, Morgana inquired, her eyes trained on her brother.
Something in the face of the blonde one fell, she could practically see the battle deep inside of him, torn between outdated believes of his father and the possibility to save Merlin.-------------
Merlin has been hit by a magic blast and is very sick, almost on his deathbed. But Morgana won't give up on him, willing to do anything to save her friend but the question is how far would Arthur go to save his servant?

Look, Arthur understands. He’s a King now, and that means there are more people after him and that he must be careful. He was being careful! He’d taken knights with him and everything, but that hadn’t stopped a lucky group of bandits from kidnapping him.
Damnit! His husband would NOT be happy with this.
“Merlin’s going to kill me after he gets me out of this.”
Or, Arthur is kidnapped and Merlin’s very understandable reaction to someone daring to take his husband.

Watching Arthur court Gwen does not tear Merlin’s heart apart. Why would it? Theirs is a love story written in the stars. But like every great love story, there are those who wish to keep them apart and doesn’t Merlin have a destiny to protect Arthur’s heart as well as his life?
When Uther tries to use a bet with a visiting king to rid himself of the young serving girl who’s caught Arthur’s eye, Merlin takes Gwen’s place instead. Only with Merlin gone, Arthur realizes that maybe he doesn’t know his own heart as well as he thought.

Summary
Merlin knew his go-to excuse of “going to the tavern” to explain his disappearances was always going to bite him in the arse. He just didn’t expect that one night while he was off doing magical things that said tavern would burn to the ground in a devastating fire and he would be presumed one of the victims.
Yep, this was going to be hard to explain.
