Summary
Jason Grace has spent his whole life in Camp Jupiter, not quite belonging even amongst his own companions, always a soldier more than a boy. Yet, he longs for the companionship of others even if he doesn't know how to ask for it.
Then, the rod of Aesculapius is stolen and Jason is sent to retrieve it, along with two companions who simply refuse to get along. The three have no one else to rely on but each other as they journey across California to complete their mission. Easier said than done when they each have their own baggage, made worse when one of them encounters a familiar face along the way. Not to mention the horde of monsters and the gods that stop their path, deeming their tasks to be more important than the quest at hand.
In the shadows, a long-fated rebellion against the gods begins.
