“Mm, knew it,” Ed said quietly, rubbing his face gently against the fabric of Stede’s nightshirt.
“What’s that?” Stede asked, holding himself so very still, as if moving too much or too fast would frighten off the fearsome pirate who had chosen Stede’s bed to curl up in, which would be a tragedy. The warmth and weight of the other man surrounding him immediately came as a great comfort, and he did not want to part with it so soon.
“Huh?” Ed voiced in return, as if he’d been unaware he had just spoken aloud, “Oh, just that your bunk would be soft and warm. And that you’d smell nice.”
