“No. No, Hollander,” Ilya coughed, eyes flitting around the room. “Is just– Is too much.”
“This is… too much?” Shane repeated slowly, incredulously. “We see each other maybe once a month. Less, even.”
“No. Is not that– You are just,” Ilya swore under his breath in Russian. His accent was getting thicker, the words clunkier, in the way it always got stronger when he was frustrated or tired. Shane hated himself for recognizing it. “...too much.”

“No,” Mo Ran warns before Mei Hanxue can open his mouth, and Mei Hanxue gives him a positively feline look. “Do you want me to die?”
“For him, I’ll double what I said I’d give you,” Mei Hanxue says and Mo Ran raises an eyebrow. “What? If he says yes, it’d be one of mankind’s greatest accomplishments. Statues would be made in your honour.”

Summary
Bunji finds an injured fox during his evening patrol. He feels sorry for the pathetic little ball of orange fluff, so he takes it home to the jingshi to bandage it’s paw. Lan wangji assumes that his new friend is a simple mortal fox in need of nursing, for Fox spirits haven’t been seen for centuries since the last of the foxes followed Boshan Sanren into the immortal forest. Huli Jing are natural predators to rabbit spirits and bringing one into his home would be dangerous. The fox is actually FoxXian, who after a few days turns back into human form. Seduction ensues and Bunji gets a nice railing.

He’s twenty, in Ios, watching a blade sink into Damen’s side. He’s sixteen, all alone, dreaming of revenge.
Last night Laurent had thrust his arm at Damen, “attend me,” he had commanded, as if Damen weren’t a king in his own right. Last night, Uncle had sat on his bed, played chess with him. “I will always have time for you,” he had reassured Laurent, “even though Auguste has outgrown you.”
Laurent leans to the side and vomits, violently. His fingers shake as he pushes his hair back, slowly, the room spins into focus. His hair is shorter than he remembers, Damen likes it long. His hair is exactly the same, cut by his nursemaid once a month.
He is thirteen, at Marlas, and he knows everything.
