He looked exactly the same as he had thirteen years ago. Just older. More tired.
Your fingers started tapping against your tablet. Index, ring, middle, pinky.
His eyes found you.
The room was full of people — forty or fifty scientists, most of them older than you, most of them decorated — but his gaze cut through the crowd like a laser. He stared at you for a long moment, his jaw going slack.
Then he broke into a grin so wide it crinkled the corners of his eyes.
