Summary
Katara is a pre-med student who just transferred to Ba Sing Se University. She wants to stay focused to keep her straight A record, but her brother's roommate makes it hard to concentrate.
Zuko is under a lot of stress, with his father putting pressure on him to perform well, get his degree, and eventually work at Phoenix Enterprises, the biggest insurance company in the world. He struggles to find peace, and wonders if if will ever come.
He doesn't know it yet, but his peace will come, but not in the way he thinks.

Summary
Left behind at the Misty Palms Oasis, Katara waits days for Aang, Sokka, and Toph to return. But when bounty hunters close in, her only chance at escape comes from the last people she ever thought she could trust: Zuko and Iroh. Now traveling under false names and bound by a fake marriage, Katara finds herself on the road to Ba Sing Se. At first, she barely trusts him, but somewhere along the way, she starts to realize Zuko isn't what she thought he was.
She keeps reminding herself it will end once they reach the city, but in a place crowded with millions of refugees and stuck in the Lower Ring, she doesn’t have much hope of finding her friends. With no leads and nowhere else to go, she resolves to wait for them to find her. But in their cramped apartment, the days turn into weeks, and the longer they stay, the harder it becomes to remember where the act ends and something real begins.

Summary
Katara Luna's life has been nothing but difficult lately. Living with her family in a cramped apartment, with seven mouths to feed, Gran-Gran's care facility fees to pay and Suki has a baby on the way. They're strong people and Katara has hope that things will get better—Once she finishes her degree. No more working multiple jobs for shit pay and shittier customers. All she needs is one good stable job, life will get better. She knows it will.
Zuko's life has always been painful, but he doesn't mind—It drives him.
Pain is a lesson and suffering is his teacher. Especially being an up and coming MMA fighter. He's fought hard to make a name for himself. With Iroh as his coach and his own stubborn determination as his fuel. And now he has a chance, to make it, really make it—for his father to see him as more than a failure. He just has to put together a 'winning team'. Something he doesn't need. He knows his limits. It's not like they can afford something like that anyway—No he just needs to keep pushing, even if it's painful…Maybe, one day, they'll find out that what they wanted in life, was not what they thought they needed.
