Summary
Draco sleeps alone in the dormitory as the only Slytherin of his year to return. He's learned that he was wrong. How could he not when he's been told so repeatedly from everyone he's come in contact with since the war ended? However, as he returns for his eighth year at Hogwarts he still doesn't understand what it means to be in the right. He needs to get through the year and he wants to have friends again. He never expected Luna Lovegood to persistently hang out with him, nor did he ever imagine he'd have to try to tutor Harry Potter in potions. What he did see coming was the hate, fear, and vitriol his return would instill in his fellow students. He didn't think anyone had known how far they would take it.
OR:
Draco has to deal with robes too short, Potter's dog being too happy, and consistent attempts on his life all while trying to learn how he's supposed to fit into a world where everyone is suddenly better than him. A world in which Luna Lovegood is the only person who doesn't seem bothered by his presence. With her help he does everything he can to not be eaten alive by guilt or fade away into a depressive, lonely isolation.

Summary
She had always been there for him, until she couldn’t be anymore. He had never forgiven himself for not keeping her safe. A tear fell without his permission and rolled down a pristine white wing.
“How could you?” He questioned. The owl rose its piercing amber gaze to glare at him. The sudden chaos of wings disrupted the moment and the predator rose, struggling only slightly in the flat air and confined space of the room. It landed upon the top of the four poster bed that dominated the area where it promptly began to ignore him.
Harry felt sick without nausea, the kind of stomach-wrenching knot that reminded him of leaving Hogwarts. He was baffled beyond what he could have anticipated, and betrayed without being able to say he’d even dared to trust anyone. He left the room without further comment.
When he stormed into Robards’ office less than an hour later, he was still shaking. “There’s nothing in that file about him being an animagus and I checked the registry; Draco Malfoy is not on it.”

Summary
Draco shows up soaking wet at Number Twelve Grimmauld Place, unable to remember why he’s drenched, but clearly relieved to see Harry. Mostly, he’s simply thankful he remembered enough to have gotten himself home. The real problem is Harry doesn’t know what he’s talking about or how he got past the Fidelius charm. The twist is that it wasn't a potions accident, a prank, or a pining Malfoy trying to get with Harry.

“Why is Malfoy here?” Hermione froze with her hand on her wand the second she saw him.“Oh thank God, you can see him,” Harry leaned back in his chair, more relieved than he would’ve thought from the confirmation he hadn’t realised he’d been awaiting.
“Was there really a possibility I wouldn’t?” she questioned, surprise and concern lifting her brow with equal force.
“I thought maybe, yea,” Harry shrugged with his voice as much as he did with his shoulders. “Apparently, he thinks he’s been basically living here for over a year.”

Summary
The thick, wooden door, held together with ancient iron straps, swung open with surprisingly little noise on well-maintained hinges despite its age and size.
The absolute last person Draco could have ever expected stared at him in a subdued, frozen kind of horror once it was open. “No,” Harry Potter said evenly and calmly, as if Draco had asked him if he was supposed to be alive.
“How?” Draco choked on the question so it left his mouth as little more than breath.
“No!” Potter shouted as his hands flailed back and forth in desperate negation before diving into the bedlam of black hair, like they sought shelter from the moment.
“‘Arry?” a feminine and heavily French voice called out. “Is it ‘im?”
“Yes!” the presumed dead man in question shouted too loudly, as if he could no longer control his own volume. “But no, he won’t- we couldn’t- I-” A woman maybe just a bit past her middle age came up behind him as he stammered. Draco continued to stare. He couldn’t even sneer; he was shocked to his core. His chest held onto his surprise like a barely contained explosion. Harry Potter wasn’t dead. It felt like it should change everything, yet they remained staring at each other as if nothing ever would.

This was so great, the naughty bits, the humor. I think this was the first fic I read that alerted me to how much I ship Harry/Charlie (and then subsequently Harry/Charlie/Draco) but it was a great 8th year fic with Draco getting along with everyone surprisingly well but still being a snarky git and I loved the fire bush cave, and Hufflepoofs, and Harry’s overactive imagination.
