Summary
Dylan doesn't agree with his family that the portal between worlds should be open all year long. When he stands up for his beliefs, Marnie and Aggie are stuck in Halloweentown for another year. After learning of Dylan's beliefs, Kal offers Dylan the same thing he'd offered Marnie. With Dylans family hating him, why would he want to stay. When Kal's body is so addicting to Dylan, why would he ever want to go back from his new life?

Summary
My attempt at redoing Yu-Gi-Oh with a focus on character development, magic, and historical accuracy instead of card games. While this is technically a series, "All This We Do in the Name of Ma'at" functions as a standalone story. All of the other stories are just in-universe follow ups to show what the characters got up to after the story was over. These shorts largely function as stand alones, too, since Ma'at follows cannon very closely in the important ways. All of the stories are ordered loosely in terms of when they occured. You can read them in any order.
All of the Egyptology is heavily researched and I did my best to get it right. If something is off and you have a source, please send it my way!
All of the stuff in modern Japan has minimal research done and is more for flavor than anything else. I'm going for anime-level accuracy with that, not realism.

homebound
[HOHM·bound] English
(adj.) moving or traveling homewardReyna told him that they had two homes. But in all honesty? Nico didn’t fully believe her. He's still the creepy Death Boy to most, and people continue to actively avoid him if possible. He doesn’t belong at Camp Half-Blood; everyone knows it. He’s giving it a shot anyway if only to find a place he can truly call home. But if there's anything he learned from those few years of grade school, it's that the word "home" is a noun: a person, place, or thing. And to his surprise, Nico will find that "home" is defined not by darkness, solitude, and cold, but by sunshine, company, and warmth.
It's not a "where" or a "what", but a "who".
⚠️ Rated M for some content within the last few chapters. Otherwise, rest of the story is T.
