Bruce Wayne.
He'd call about the interview, he decided. That was the right thing. The professional thing to do for both of them. He would call, and he would be a journalist, and he would not think about the bathroom or the heartbeat or the way Bruce had gone still and careful the moment Clark had pulled back, asking "Do you want to stop? " like what he wanted really mattered, even if Bruce looked like he wanted to take, like Clark's answer was the only important thing weighing on him.
He would absolutely not think about that.Or: Superman and Batman meet properly for the first time; Clark does not handle it as gracefully as he should, the heartbeat memorization wasn't on purpose, and he would like everyone to stop looking at him like that.

Summary
Someone new moved to Smallville, in the house on the other side of the Kent farm.
Clark meets the new kid, Bruce Wayne, and his first impression isn't great. He thinks that Bruce is spoiled and rude and out of place. Maybe that's why he blows up at him. But he still saves him when he's in trouble, that's just the kind of person that Clark is.
After a while they develop a tentative kind of friendship over the summer. Bruce isn't like anyone else that Clark knows, and he feels connected to him in all of his out of place-ness.
His own feelings for the other take him by surprise, he only hopes that he can stomp them down before he ruins their friendship over them.

And there was no denying it last night when he found himself locked in Bruce’s dressing room during an exclusive photoshoot for a charity calendar, properly disheveled and hidden after being snuck in. Clark knew how the optics would be perceived; he was a reporter for a prestigious news outlet and was secretly dating a wealthy Playboy who often found himself in scandalous paparazzi altercations. He knew it to be true as they were superheroes leading double lives. Yet, at Bruce’s beckon, Clark finds himself right back at the omega’s side.

He does not expect Gotham’s tabloids to decide he and Bruce Wayne are secretly together. But after one too many headlines about Bruce Wayne’s “mysterious co-parent,” pretending to date starts seeming like the easiest solution.
That would probably be less of a problem if Clark wasn’t already half in love with him.
