Summary
A ground-up rewrite of Danny Phantom, reboot-style.
Danny Fenton is eighteen years old. Having barely passed high school and been passed up by any college program that might get him within a country mile of NASA, he's let his depression seriously curdle over the summer. When he's attacked by some sort of specter in the weeks before community college, he discovers the abandoned dream of his parents--a laboratory they secretly built under the Fenton family home, where they'd spent their youth trying to build a portal to another dimension. The portal, naturally, gives Danny superpowers, which he keeps from his parents, while Jack and Maddie are in turn less than forthcoming about their reignited interest in the supernatural.
All the while, Sam's dealing with her own disappointments in how her life's turned out, while Tucker is off to a promising science program at a "real" college. This fic offers new twists on old favorites, slowly building to a brighter future for all these dumb teens and their assorted immortal antagonists--even if it's one none of them can quite see yet.
