Summary
"Speak treason against my uncle again, and I swear you can join yours in exile forever!” Arthur's voice thundered across the throne room. All Merlin had done was address his suspicions of Agravaines betrayal and framing Gaius. He hadn’t even mentioned Morgana, or even Uthers death.
“There will not be any reason for banishment, sire. I leave Camelot willingly.”
Merlin didn’t bow. Nor did he look back as he walked out of the throneroom, leaving a heartbroken Arthur behind him. After the big wooden doors closed shut, he could hear shouts and disagreements.- Language:

Arthur sputtered. “I-I’m not sure that’s wise, I mean, no — I —”
Merlin interrupted. “That sounds like a good idea to me! No offense, but you guys are pretty useless against magical opponents.” He threw a smile at Lancelot that the Knight returned. “I mean, what’s the use having the most powerful sorcerer in the world on your payroll if you don’t use him?”
-OR-
5 times Merlin tells Arthur he's the most powerful sorcerer in the world, and 1 time Arthur believes him.

Summary
When Morgana had first come for Merlin, he hadn’t been worried. People had come for him before, hell, they came for him all the time. They never realized just what they were involving themselves with until Merlin destroyed them with barely a twitch of his finger. So when Morgana had entered his room that night, a candle in one hand, an ice cold iron manacle in the other, Merlin hadn’t thought it would be any different.
It was only after he felt the biting chill of the metal on his skin as it snapped around his leg that he realized he may have miscalculated.

Summary
“Where did you learn to do that?” Gwaine asked, following Merlin up the bank.
“This is how normal people fish,” Merlin replied dryly. “Not trying to stab them with swords.”“This is a knife,” Gwaine retorted, sounding every bit as sulky as he felt.
“Still, you didn’t catch a fish.”
------------------------------------------------------Gwaine saves a young Merlin from a beating and ends up with a new little brother to take care of on his travels.
Or, what would Merlin be like if he had Gwaine influencing him over his formative years?

Or, 5 times a background knight teaches Merlin a different fighting skill, and the 1 time Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table find out (in the coolest way possible, of course).
