Summary
Still working on "Dancing with the Lightning." That said, this grows out of some of the character conjecture I've been doing in the META stuff.
This is character study in a totally speculative framework. It's Mystrade, of a sort, and it's even romantic. It's got erotic elements. It's just not what I think people expect of any of those things. It's dysfunctional but-still-standing Mycroft, and empathic but pretty tough and non-sentimental Greg. It's non-romantic romance. It's erotica with no sex worth mentioning.

Summary
Yet another story I don't know quite how to summarize. People wanted a sequel to "The Boundaries of Touch." This is what happened. Here's the continuity, for any of you following my Mycroft stuff. "Boundaries" happens, sometime late in the exile, before Sherlock's return. So does "A Brother's Gift," with Mycroft having to master his own fears to go fetch baby brother home from Serbia. However "Aftermath," when Mycroft mourns the outcome of "His Last Vow" with Lestrade, quite explicitly does not. The Mycroft in this version has spent at least a week dealing with the events of "Vow" and the aftermath alone and without support. To his surprise, events finally catch up with him...including the delayed trauma first suggested in "Boundaries."
I am not sure what I think of this one. I'm going to have to let it sit for awhile before I decide if it's right, or not. Hope it's at least interesting.

Aaaaaand...
Mycroft insisted we complete the arc started with "Boundaries of Touch " and contiuing with "Under the Shadow." Please, be warned--on the one hand this is definitely erotica. For a radical change, sex will actually be depicted. On the other hand, it's not all that stunningly graphic. If you know how it all fits together you won't have many serious questions, but you also won't get the "detailed synopsis" thing. I don't know. It just never turns into graphic erotica with me.
If you really had to classify it? It's friendship/love with a small serving of soft-core on the side. Even more, it's Mycroft doing the unheard of, and letting the walls fall down. But there is that little serving of soft-core. If that squicks you, consider yourself warned.

Summary
This is definitely a gen story, except to the degree that it hints at a M/M relationship between Mycroft and Lestrade. This is Sherlock just beginning to catch on. It's clean, it's non-erotic, and it's the fifth story in the "Mycroft's Vulnerable" series. Sherlock is left with a lot to think about. Being Sherlock, he's awfully likely to just delete it, though, as it's far too emotionally demanding to process it all. XD That's our boy....
A certain limited amount of preexisting gore in the form of a corpse is present. It's not nice, but not all that much worse than maggots in the eye, so I think it's probably canon-normal.

I've threatened for a while to do a "Greg is Vunlerable" to go within the "Mycroft's Vunlerable" series. It finally arrived. Got the right story at last.
This is character study, fairly explicit erotic sequence, emotional hurt/comfort.
