Summary
Sitting with his back against the kitchen wall, Nathan stared at the fridge and imagined that he could hear Soul's heart beating through the white plastic door. The blood rushing in his ears was so loud he was startled when Gabriel appeared next to him, hair still damp from the shower and a stack of clean clothes in his arms.
"Cheer up," he said, nudging Nathan's side with his boot. "If you stare at it any harder, it will burst into flames."
"Shut up," Nathan replied without bite, resting his head against Gabriel's knee and letting out an exhausted sigh. "I'm thinking."
"Don't hurt yourself," Gabriel murmured. Nathan scowled up at him, but couldn't help answering his smile with one of his own.
Annalise shuffled out of the bathroom, chugging a glass of water and looking grey in the face as her father's blood dried in her hair. Gabriel walked over to her, and in his peripheral vision Nathan saw him press the clothes into her hands and press a kiss to her forehead.

Summary
'Nathan had resolved to keep a closer eye on Gabriel since he had mentioned that he couldn’t remember who had given him that book. Something about him wasn’t sitting right with Nathan- not that he thought they shouldn’t trust Gabriel, but Nathan was intrigued by how little he and Annalise knew about their companion, and how little he seemed willing to tell them. Gabriel was a dozen different mysteries wrapped up in his long, oversized trench coat, and Nathan was determined to unravel them.
Which was why Nathan was paying enough attention to notice when Gabriel forgot where he had put their map for the second time that day.'
OR
Four times Nathan noticed Gabriel had memory issues, and one time he found out why.

Summary
Zuko puts on a good show, whether he realizes it or not. His movements are swift, delicate, elegant, and fierce all at once, his swords moving as an extension of himself. At another time, Sokka might have asked if he wanted to spar. Today... Today he finds himself mesmerized by the fluid ripple of Zuko's muscles, the way the sunlight glints off his skin, and the way his eyes gleam in a way that almost makes him look happy.
That's where the problem starts. The eye gleam; that's what Sokka blames for what happens next. That's why, as Zuko is flexing his arm above his head and twisting carefully on a single heel, Sokka blurts out, "Have you ever kissed a guy before?"
Zuko's foot gives out from under him. He falls flat on his ass with a strangled yelp, swords clattering to the ground beside him.

Summary
“For the month I’ve been gone, you’re a lot bolder."
Immediately, Dennis was blushing again. Hard. Anything that previously came out of Robby’s mouth was tame compared to this charged tension in the room that Robby wasn’t even in. How did he always seem to do that?
Before Dennis could open his mouth to respond, Robby chuckled and asked, “Have you been holding back from me, Whitaker?”
OR
The first time Robby called Dennis on his sabbatical, Dennis didn't think much of it. That was until he kept calling, and Dennis always kept answering. Before he knew it, Dennis was calling him, and shit. He was in a talking stage with his boss.

Summary
The rooftop is peaceful, Dennis decides.
It's quiet, private, and far removed from the chaos of the ED.
An ideal spot for a post-shift mental breakdown.
He should've known that his attending would have the same idea.

Summary
The elevator lurches once, then stalls. The emergency light flickers weakly, casting Robby and Whitaker in a dim, red glow before plunging them into near-total darkness. The only sound is their breathing—Whitaker’s still too fast, Robby’s measured, deliberate.
"You knew this might happen?" Whitaker asks.
"Yeah," Robby says. "Big storms like this fuck with the hospital's generators. We were lucky we got this far."
"Lucky," Whitaker echoes, the word coming out too soft.Robby and Whitaker get stuck in an elevator during a storm, and three weeks of tension catches up to them.
