Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

Summary:

“....Then…why don’t I eat with you everyday from now on?”

“What?”

A one shot story of Craig who has trouble eating alone, and Tweek who returns in Craig's life and wants to help him out before he ends up starving himself. Such a situation will only lead to love...right?

Notes:

Happy pride month, folks!

Did I plan this fic to come out on pride month? Of course not. I was just very very slow in writing this fic, and before I knew it it was already June, but hey...let's all pretend I did write this for pride month...it fits...right? Right?

Anyways, hope you enjoy another long ass one shot from me, and hey, it's in Craig's POV this time! I miss writing in character's POV, it was fun to do, even if there are limits of course, but still...I figured I try doing it again for this fic, and in Craig's POV, my favorite boy. Maybe next time I'll do a story from Tweek's POV, but we'll see!

Anyways, enough rambling, hope you enjoy this story, if you get hungry while reading this...I recommend eating something before or during, and happy readings!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

7pm on the dot. That is what my phone says. 7pm…and yet here I am…at this semi fancy restaurant….alone…and hungry.

“Tch…where is he?” I sighed as I checked my messages, which felt like the fifteenth time I’ve done so this evening. I stared at my messages, so far, I only saw the message I sent earlier today, but nothing from him.

Great…

“Ugh…another dud,” I sighed as I realized the asshole wasn’t coming. I got stood up.

I was annoyed as hell. The jackass couldn’t even give me the decency to text me he wasn’t coming, or even just reply to my messages.

“Why even bother agreeing to the date if you’re not going to show in the end? Some people,” I sighed as I contemplated on leaving.

Suddenly, my phone began buzzing. I thought it was the guy finally messaging me back, but nope…just Clyde…wondering how this blind date is going.

Clyde 7:01pm

Hey man, how’s the date going, huh?

I sighed as I stared at the text. Better let Clyde know that the date was a total flop.

7:02pm

Terrible. My date didn’t show. Nice find, Clyde. Let Bebe know I’m soooo thankful for setting me up with him…totally worth it! …and in case you’re too dumb to understand, that was sarcasm

Clyde 7:04pm

Oh shit! I’m so sorry, dude! I really thought this guy was nice based on what Bebe told me about him! Uh…let me go check with Bebe and see what the hell this guy’s problem was!

I waited a few minutes, then I felt my phone buzzing again.

Clyde 7:09pm

Okay…so like…don’t hate me…but I might have set you up with the wrong guy…

I’m annoyed.

7:10pm

The fuck you mean you set me up with the wrong guy????

Clyde 7:12pm

Well you see, apparently I got the wrong Anthony! I was supposed to set you up with Anthony B, the one Bebe recommended, but I accidentally set you up with Anthony C…who Bebe admits is a total flaker…my bad!!!!

7:14pm

Clyde…you’re an idiot

Clyde 7:15pm

Oh come on, man! Give me a break here! Do you have any idea how many people are in Bebe’s contacts!? She literally has five people named Michael B …How the hell does she know five guys named Michael who happened to have last names starting with the letter B!?!!?!?!?

I just sighed, getting even more annoyed. I winced when I felt my stomach growling, and my head was starting to hurt.

Ah…I just want to go home, take a shower, and sleep…

7:17pm

Doesn’t matter anymore. I’m heading home

Clyde 7:18pm

Wait! You can’t just go home now! You probably haven’t eaten anything yet, right? Just try to like…eat something while you’re there!

7:18pm

You know I won’t be able to stomach anything right now…

Clyde 7:19pm

Dude, just try! You’re going to make yourself sick if you don’t eat something. Just get something light and easy on the stomach…like…a bowl of chicken noodle soup!

I frowned, and was about to tell Clyde to fuck off and mind his own business, but my stomach started growling even more. I swear, it got even louder and I glanced over at the table next to me, and they seemed to be eyeing me weirdly.

“...Oh…what the hell…” I sighed. I was already getting lightheaded, and knew I won’t be able to make it home if I don’t eat something.

I sent Clyde a quick message.

7:20pm

Fine. And make sure the next guy you set me up with is actually the right one. I don’t know if my body can handle another date ditcher…

Clyde 7:21pm

I’ll try! Just…gonna be a little tricky since Bebe knows a lot of people…most of which are guys too…guess my baby is a natural social queen! :D

“....” I glanced away from my phone, making a face.

Oh that naive idiot…

7:22pm

Right. Whatever you say, Clyde. I’ll talk to you later…and pray to god I’ll be able to eat something today…

I put my phone away and looked around till I saw the waiter. I flagged them so I could order, and after scanning their menu, I did see they do have chicken noodle soup. I thought of what Clyde said, and shrugged.

“Just a small bowl of chicken noodle soup, please, and a glass of water.”

“Will that be all for you today, sir?”

“Yes, please,” I said.

I handed the menu back to the waiter, and began waiting for my food.

As I was waiting, I did look around the restaurant, and noticed it was pretty crowded tonight. There were couples, families, and maybe a few solo diners like me around. The place was almost packed.

“....Maybe…I can finally eat something if there’s this many people around,” I muttered to myself, feeling slightly hopeful.

As I glanced around, I couldn’t help but notice the food on a few people’s tables. It all looked…so good. I could feel my mouth watering a bit as I looked between tables.

Someone ordered a steak, while a family got a whole pizza…oh…was that…a huge slice of chocolate cake with both chocolate and vanilla butter cream between the layers, a chocolate ganache dripping down the edges…and a maraschino cherry on top…

“...!” I shook my head and quickly grabbed my napkin to wipe my chin when I noticed drool dripping down. I sighed as I focused my attention on my table, not looking at any of the food around me.

God…I’m so hungry right now…

“Sorry for the wait, sir! Here is your bowl of chicken noodle soup, and glass of water,” the waiter said as he placed my food down.

“Thanks,” I said, staring at the bowl hungrily.

Wow…for a simple bowl of chicken noodle soup…it looked…delicious. The chicken was white and appeared tender. The broth smelled so good, I could smell the thyme and basil inside it. The vegetables also looked great, even if it was chopped into tiny pieces, I can tell it had a mixture of carrots, celery…and…oh I think that’s some onions in there too. Finally..the noodles looked long, flat, and thick…oh they must have that satisfying chewy texture…

I gulped as I began to salivate. This wasn’t just a bowl of chicken noodle soup…it was a piece of art.

I quickly grabbed my spoon and scooped some of the soup up, making sure to get a piece of chicken and some veggies. I took a big whiff of the soup, sensing the warmth from it, it was comforting.

I opened my mouth and took a bite.

“....Nnn…mmmfff..” My eyes widened and I hunched over in my seat. I began trembling as this god awful taste touched my tongue. I winced, holding back tears in the corner of my eyes as I tried my best to not throw up. Taking a deep breath, I forced myself to swallow, practically gagging once it was down. “Ugh…” I groaned as I covered my mouth.

Oh…there’s even a bit of aftertaste…

“Sir…are you alright?” The waiter from earlier came over. Guess he noticed the disgusted look on my face.

“I-I’m good…just…burnt my tongue,” I said, trying my best to not vomit.

“I see…” The waiter said, obviously not believing me, “is the soup to your liking?”

“...Yep…uh huh…it’s…great,” I said, forcing a smile.

The waiter nodded, but I can tell he didn’t fully believe me, “well…if you need anything, just let me know,” the waiter smiled politely before leaving.

Once he was gone, I let out a sigh as I stared at the soup in front of me. I leaned back in my chair as I pondered if I should just get the check and leave.

“...Ugh…my head is spinning…” I groaned as I clutched my temples, gently massaging them.

No, I can’t not eat. I haven’t eaten anything at all today. If I even try to leave without eating something, there is no way I’ll make it home.

Gulping a bit, I pulled the bowl closer towards me, picked up the spoon, and scooped up some more soup. This time I scooped up just the broth and one noodle.

Taking a deep breath, I shut my eyes as I took a bite. “...Argh…it tastes like hot sewage water…and the texture is like eating lukewarm gelatin,” I grumbled. I really wanted to spit it out, but I forced myself to swallow it. I began to cough, and quickly grabbed the ice water, chugging as much of it as possible to get the taste out of my mouth.

God…I can’t do this. I can’t force myself to eat another bite.

I sighed as I gently pushed the bowl away from me, and finished the rest of my water, washing away the disgusting taste out of my mouth.

“I guess just being around so many people couldn’t help…” I sighed as I glanced at the other customers here.

I watched them all eating their meals happily, and with no issues at all. Just chewing away, and enjoying the taste of their meal.

I’m so jealous right now.

I sighed as I rested my head against my hand, staring blankly at my unfinished soup. “...I should just call an Uber,” I sighed. I still felt too weak to walk home, so it was better to call a car to take me home. At least it would be less dangerous if I ended up passing out in a car instead of the streets.

“...Craig?”

Just as I was about to call for the waiter to bring me a check, I froze when I heard someone say my name. I turned around.

“...Tweek? Is…that you?” I said, squinting my eyes and making sure I wasn’t seeing anything.

I saw Tweek smiling as he headed towards where I was, “yeah, it’s me! Oh my god, it’s been a while, man,” Tweek said as he extended his arms out.

I smiled as I got up from my seat and gave him a hug, “yeah, too long actually. Haven’t heard from you since graduation,” I said.

Tweek stopped hugging me and smiled awkwardly, almost looking a bit ashamed, “y-yeah, I’m sorry about that. Things got a bit hectic after I moved out of South Park, been busy with school, finding a job, and some other…personal stuff,” Tweek said, glancing away when he said the last part.

“Right, but…you could have at least kept in contact with the guys and I, we were all worried for you when none of us could reach you,” I said while crossing my arms.

“Ah! I’m sorry for that!” Tweek said, looking apologetic, “I changed my phone number a while back, and totally forgot to back up my contacts,” Tweek explained.

“Guess that explains why no has been able to call you,” I sighed, “just…promise me you’ll keep in contact this time. I think you going AWOL made Clyde worried sick.”

“Ah shit, I’ll be sure to apologize to Clyde when I get a chance,” Tweek said, smiling softly.

I smiled back at him. It was nice seeing Tweek again. He looked…well…different, but good. He seemed much happier and healthier compared to when we were younger. I guess after moving out of our hometown and not having to work at his parents’ coffee shop has changed him for the better.

“Ah…shoot…I’m probably holding you up from something, aren’t I?” I said awkwardly after remembering where we are. I figured Tweek was here to get something to eat or maybe meet someone.

Tweek quickly shook his head, “oh no, you’re good! I-I actually stopped by to pick up an order. Currently, I’m just waiting for it to get ready,” Tweek explained.

“I see,” I said. I then glanced at my table and looked back at him, “then…you wanna sit down for a bit and just…catch up?” I asked.

Tweek smiled, “I would love that,” Tweek said.

We both sat down at my table, with Tweek sitting across from me. Once we were seated, we immediately got to chatting.

“So, how have you been doing?” Tweek asked.

“Uh…doing good,” I said as I glanced at my barely touched bowl of soup, “been a bit busy, especially since I opened up my own photography studio earlier this year,” I said.

Tweek’s eyes widened, “oh, wow! That’s amazing! I’m so happy for you, Craig!” Tweek smiled, “I remember you always did love taking photos, and they always came out great.”

“Oh come on…they aren’t that great,” I said.

“Pff, oh don’t give me that modest bullshit, you and I both know that’s not you,” Tweek smirked.

“....Yeah….you’re right,” I smirked, “yeah, business has been doing good, though been mostly taking pictures at weddings, birthday parties, family pictures…funerals,” I muttered the last part.

“Funerals? Is…is it common to have a photographer at a funeral?” Tweek asked, looking a bit surprised and awkward.

“Apparently so,” I said, “been to at least three already. I guess people just want to have a photo of themselves looking all sad next to their dead loved ones,” I said.

“Well…I guess people just want to make memories out of every moment in their lives…especially at your final moment,” Tweek chuckled.

“Seems so,” I snorted.

“So…aside from taking photos of married couples and crying people…are you still taking pictures for your personal project?” Tweek asked.

“Ah…er…kind of,” I said, rubbing the back of my neck awkwardly, “been in a bit of a slump lately, and haven’t gotten much inspiration as of late.”

“Oh shit, man. Have you tried anything to help with your block?” Tweek asked.

“Well…if you count me just lazing around and pray to god that inspiration comes falling down my lap as me doing something…” I trailed off with a half smile.

“Dude,” Tweek frowned.

I chuckled, “don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll find some inspiration soon. It’s just…work has been keeping me busy…and…I’m also kind of dealing with…some stuff…” I said as I glanced at my probably now cold bowl of soup. I cleared my throat, “ahem…well enough talking about me…how about you? I noticed you cut your hair, it’s…shorter,” I said, noticing how Tweek’s hair wasn’t as long as it was before. It was still unruly and slightly spiky, and some parts of his hair were poking out in different directions, but compared to how his hair was before when we were younger, it looked a lot neater.

It looked good on him.

Tweek blushed as he combed through his hair with his fingers, “ah… you noticed…does it look weird?” Tweek asked.

“Nah, it looks good on you…like…super good,” I said.

Tweek smiled softly, “oh thank god. I was worried it might look weird since I was known for my long and messy hair back when we were kids,” Tweek sighed.

“Yeah, I remember. I also remember the time you got a bunch of crap stuck in your hair. Remember the yo-yo?” I asked.

“Oh god, don’t remind me!” Tweek exclaimed, placing his hands over his head, “I remember how the nurse struggled to get it out…and I still don’t know whose yo-yo that was since it wasn’t mine, and I don’t remember anyone carrying a yo-yo that day!”

“Pfff…yeah…that was…that was a weird day,” I snorted, “but hey…at least now you don’t have to worry about a random yo-yo getting stuck in your hair now,” I grinned.

“Yeah, thank god,” Tweek sighed.

I’m glad Tweek seemed happy with his new hairstyle, but I wonder what made him wanna change it. Even back then when he complained how hard it was to contain his long hair, not once has he ever just cut his hair shorter, and kept it long until it really needed a trim.

“So…what made you cut your hair shorter anyways?” I asked.

Tweek flinched, “ah…well…there’s two reasons. The first is that…I always wanted to cut my hair shorter, especially now that I’m living on my own and stuff…and the other reason…is because of work,” Tweek said.

“Work?”

Tweek sighed, “yeah, you see, I work as a server at this small bistro, so I’m usually serving food and drinks to the customers. All has been fine for a while, but then recently we’ve been getting complaints about my hair potentially getting into the food, and the amount of complaints was getting out of hand that my boss basically gave me an ultimatum. Either I cut my hair short, or I’m out of a job,” Tweek sighed.

“That’s awful! Why don't you suggest you wear a hairnet or tie it back?” I asked.

“Have you seen how unruly my hair was back then?” Tweek sighed, “each time I wear a hairnet, a couple of strands end up escaping and sticking against my face, and I hate tying my hair back because each time I try removing it, my hair gets tangled, and I would end up ripping a few strands out,” Tweek said. “So honestly…cutting my hair short was the better option.”

“Still…are you okay with that?” I asked.

“Yeah, it’s fine. I like my boss, and he was just getting tired of the complaints as much as I was, so  I didn’t mind cutting my hair. Besides…I already had a feeling who has been sending those complaints. A certain bitchy lady who always comes to our bistro on Sunday, and always has something to say about something…especially about me,” Tweek sighed.

“Sounds like a nightmare,” I said.

“You don’t know the half of it,” Tweek sighed, “that woman is relentless if she’s actually the one sending ten to fifteen complaints a day. Well…at least we don’t have to worry about anymore yelling about how my hair follicles are going to contaminate her food,” Tweek chuckled.

“Well, in any case, I’m glad you’re liking the new look, and I guess you’re also enjoying the job as well? Apart from having to deal with witchy old ladies,” I snorted.

Tweek smiled, “yeah, it’s nice, and my current work hours even gave me some time to paint more too,” Tweek said.

“Oh shit, you still paint? I remember how good you were at that,” I smiled, “any big projects on your end?”

“Just one…and let me say…I think it’s going to be my masterpiece,” Tweek grinned.

“Well…I hope you’ll let me see it. I always like your paintings,” I said.

Tweek blushed, “thanks,” Tweek smiled.

While we were chatting, my stomach started growling again. I cursed under my breath as I felt my face starting to get warm in embarrassment. I glanced at Tweek, who must have heard my stomach as his eyes widened.

“That was loud,” Tweek commented, a small bemused smile forming on his face. I noticed him glancing at my soup that I set to the side, “is that all you’re eating tonight?” Tweek asked.

“Ah…y-yeah…it is,” I said awkwardly.

Tweek frowned a bit, “so you come to a somewhat fancy restaurant and the only thing you order is a small bowl of chicken noodle soup? What, photography not paying enough?” Tweek asked, “Craig…you’re not strap for cash are you? If you need money, I can probably lend you a few bucks,” Tweek said, while whispering the last part as if to save me from embarrassment, but I can tell he was just joking.

I rolled my eyes and gave a half smile, “no, I don’t need cash. I just…wasn’t that hungry,” I lied. As if on cue, my stomach started growling again. Shit.

Tweek chuckled a bit, “your stomach says otherwise,” Tweek said. “Why don’t you order more before your stomach eats itself?”

I sighed as I leaned forward, resting my head on the palm of my hand, “I would…but…” I glanced away as I tried to think of an excuse, “...I didn’t want to stick around for too long…especially after my date didn’t show,” I sighed.

Tweek’s eyes widened, “date? Date!? You’re on a date!?” Tweek asked, panicking a bit as he looked around, as if thinking he’d find my no show of a date here.

“I was supposed to be,” I sighed, “I was even planning on ordering a lot when they came, but obviously…that isn’t happening anymore.”

“I-I’m sorry, Craig. That’s awful,” Tweek said, looking sympathetic.

“It’s fine. This was supposed to be the first date anyways, so no harm no foul,” I said.

“I guess,” Tweek said, looking a tiny bit uncomfortable, “still…I’m surprised you came here for a date. Even back in high school, you never seemed that interested in dating anyone, even after you came out as gay,” Tweek said.

I shrugged, “what can I say, I prefer looking at hot and cute guys than actually being in a long-term relationship with one,” I said.

Tweek rolled his eyes, “with that attitude of yours, I highly doubt anyone would want to be with you long-term,” Tweek said.

“Fuck you,” I smirked as I lightheartedly flip him off.

Tweek chuckled as he flipped me off in return. He then looked down, seemingly curious about something, “so uh…what made you change your mind about…dating?”

“Oh…uh…” I tried to think of something that seemed like it would make sense. “It was…Clyde’s idea! Yeah, he’s been pestering me to start seeing people, and settle down or whatever, so he’s been setting me up with people,” I said.

“Clyde, huh? That checks out,” Tweek chuckled, “but I’m surprised he even knows any gay people to hook you up with. I thought we were the only gay friends he has,” Tweek smirked.

“Oh we still are,” I said, “the people I’ve met are people that Bebe knows. Her and Clyde are dating now,” I said.

Tweek was surprised, “seriously? Bebe? She settled with Clyde?”

“Mmm…wouldn’t say settle…it’s more like a weird poly thing or whatever,” I said.

“Wait, Bebe and Clyde are in a polygamous relationship?” Tweek asked.

“No. Bebe is in a polygamous relationship while Clyde being the oblivious dumbass he is thinks that Bebe’s various partners are her ‘friends’ despite the fact a majority of them being either dudes,” I sighed, “I would tell Clyde, but knowing him, he would just play ignorant and be in denial…or worse…gets into it and tries being poly for the wrong reasons,” I said.

“That sounds…complicated,” Tweek said.

“It’s downright a mess…but seems they’re happy, and Clyde has mentioned maybe once or twice that Bebe was spending more time with him and less with her ‘friends.’ So…we’ll see how that plays out down the line,” I said. “The only bright side to this is that Bebe does know a lot of guys that just so happen to be bi or at least…curious, so Clyde at least got a ton of options for me.”

“Yeah, well if they are like that asshole who didn’t show up for your date tonight, I’m not sure if those other options are that great,” Tweek said.

I shrugged, “it’s whatever.”

“It’s not whatever!” Tweek said, gently slamming his hands onto the table, “did the asshole at least explain why he didn’t show?”

“Nope,” I said as I pulled out my phone and showed him the last messages we exchanged, “been texting him all night wondering when he was coming. We were supposed to meet at around 6pm, but obviously it’s way past that now.”

“You’ve been here for over an hour!?” Tweek exclaimed as he looked through my messages, “what a douche, the last message he sent to you was yesterday, confirming the date!”

“Yeah, which makes this a bit annoying since we made plans and everything, and the fucker couldn’t have the decency to reply to my messages, or even come up with an excuse,” I sighed.

“Okay, no! That is downright despicable! H-he can’t just…play with your heart like that!”

“Heart? Dude, we were only exchanging messages and trying to get to know each other. It’s not that deep,” I pointed out.

“Still, he can’t just plan a date with you and then not show without a reason! That’s a dick move!” Tweek said.

Tweek frowned for a moment, then paused. Soon, he had an impish smile on his face, and I immediately knew he was planning something.

“...Give me your phone,” Tweek said, extending his hand out.

“Okay,” I sighed as I obediently gave him my phone. Knowing Tweek for so long, the moment you see him smiling like that, it’s best to do what he tells you. “...What are you doing?” I asked as I saw him tapping away at my phone.

“You’ll see,” Tweek said, smirking to himself.

A half smile formed on my face, “Tweek, you better not be doing something incredibly naughty,” I said, not that I minded.

Tweek smirked, “oh don’t worry, it’s not that bad…just…very very petty,” Tweek said before he turned around his seat so his back was facing towards me, and he raised my phone up.

I noticed he had my camera on, and had the camera flipped so we could see ourselves on the screen. I was confused as to what he was doing before I saw him gesturing for me to get closer.

“Lean in closely, I wanna make sure the both of us are in frame,” Tweek said.

“Alright,” I said as I inched forward a bit.

Tweek raised the camera up, making sure the both of us were in frame. I saw Tweek sticking out his tongue and making a peace sign on his left hand, and I just rolled my eyes, smiling. I looked up at the camera and raised my left hand, flipping off at the camera. Tweek soon snapped the photo and sat back down. I also sat back in my seat, and watched Tweek type something on my phone.

“Will I get my phone back anytime soon?” I asked, smiling at Tweek as he focused on typing something on my phone.

“Just a moment….aaaaannnnddd…done!” Tweek said as he smiled proudly to himself and finally handed my phone back to me.

I stared at him, then glanced down at my phone. “....Seriously?” I asked, and I proceeded to read the message Tweek sent to the jerk that stood me up. “‘Hey asshole, thanks a lot for not showing up for our date, a total dick move. Luckily, I managed to find this sexy and hot blonde here at the restaurant, so we’re gonna head back to my place and fuck all night. That could have been us, but oh well. Enjoy being alone on a Friday night while I enjoy sucking on some good cock….” I looked up from my phone and stared at Tweek blankly, “really?”

“What? Was the cock comment a bit too much?” Tweek asked.

“No…that was good…but uh…you really gotta call yourself sexy and hot?” I asked.

Tweek frowned, “hey, I am sexy…and tons of people say I’m pretty good looking too.”

“Oh who? The old and nearly blind ladies at the bistro you work at?” I smirked.

“Oh fuck you,” Tweek said, sticking his tongue out at me.

I grinned before looking back at my phone. I smiled when I saw the photo of us, and made sure to save it into my gallery.

While I did that, I noticed the asshole was starting to type something. Not really wanting to deal with him anymore, I blocked his number, and set my phone down.

I glanced at Tweek and gave him a half smile, “thanks for that. Tonight was…crap, but…that made my day, so…thank you,” I said.

Tweek smiled, “anytime.”

Eventually, Tweek gets a notification on his phone that his food was ready for pick up. Tweek got up from the table, excusing himself.

“Ah, my food is ready. I better get it and head home now,” Tweek said.

“Yeah, of course,” I said, getting up as well. “And hey…we should hang out again soon, okay?”

Tweek smiled, “yeah. I would…like that,” Tweek said.

I smiled at him, “and no ghosting me again, got it?”

Tweek rolled his eyes, chuckling, “I won’t.”

Tweek smiled at me before walking over and hugging me. I hugged him back, gently placing my hand on his back.

“It was…great seeing you again, Craig.”

“Yeah, same,” I said.

We pulled away, smiling at each other. I then remembered I should probably get his number.

“Oh, right. Before I forget, let me add your number to my phone,” I said.

Tweek chuckled, “no need…already added it when I was messaging that prick,” Tweek grinned.

I looked at him, surprised, but had a smile on my face, “always one step ahead, aren’t you?”

Tweek shrugged, smiling to himself. “I’ll…see you around, Craig.”

“Yeah, see you,” I said.

We waved each other goodbye and I watched as Tweek headed towards the front, got his food from the hostess, turned to look at me, smiled as he waved goodbye at me again, and then left the restaurant.

I sighed as I watched him for a bit, then sat back down, smiling to myself.

“To think…we both ended up in the same city, and not once did we bump into each other…” I muttered, “what were the chances…” I sighed as I leaned forward a bit, feeling glad to see Tweek was doing fine. “.....”

I glanced at my table, staring at the soup. I was still hungry.

“....” I gulped as I grabbed my now cold soup, pulling the bowl towards me. I took the spoon and scooped up the soup, getting some chicken, a single noodle, and some vegetables. I took a deep breath as I took a bite. “....Mmmmm…” I closed my eyes as I let out a satisfied sigh. I then proceeded to finish the rest of the soup.

For a cold bowl of chicken noodle soup…it was the best thing I’ve eaten in a while.

My relationship with food is…complicated to say the least.

Before anyone asks, no, I’m not anorexic, no I don’t have some sort of medical condition that makes it hard to eat food, and no, I didn’t have some psychological trauma that involved food.

In fact, I was able to eat normally when I was younger. I wouldn't say I was a foodie or anything, but I was definitely able to eat everything with no complaints.

No…the issues started after I moved out for college, and I was living on my own. At first, it was barely noticeable. Though everything I used to love eating tasted off, but chalked it up to being in a new environment, that’s all, but it wasn’t until much later when food just started to taste straight up bad, almost to the point it felt like I was eating literal garbage.

It didn’t matter what I was eating. Healthy foods, junk foods, salads, soups, snacks, or drinks. It all tasted awful. So far, the only thing that I can manage to keep down is water and foods that are just bland and tasteless.

But obviously, surviving on just bland foods everyday might fill me up, but man would it drive you insane having to eat something with no flavor whatsoever.

After weeks of not being able to eat anything without feeling sick, and even going days without eating something until I’m weak and on the brink of passing out, I finally went to get checked.

Apparently, it wasn’t a physical thing. Nothing wrong with my body, and my taste buds are absolutely fine. So obviously it wasn’t an illness or anything like that causing food to taste bad. I then went to see a therapist, thinking it was a mental thing, and…yep…guess it was all in my head.

From what the therapist told me, apparently because I’ve grown up eating stuff with people around, such as my family, friends, or even my childhood guinea pig, I never really ate a meal alone, not even when I’m just snacking when I think about it. I always had someone around me while I ate.

So of course, when I left for college and was living on my own, I guess my brain couldn’t handle that, and has basically shut down the part of my senses where food tasted normal. No longer could I enjoy my favorite foods or snacks simply because my brain doesn’t want me to be…lonely.

Total…bullshit, I know.

Since this revelation, I’ve been trying my best to eat more with other people. I ate lunch with classmates, hung out with friends more often just to eat snacks, and stayed with my family for as long as I could during the holidays just to eat as much as possible before I inevitably had to go back home.

Ah…who knew I’d miss the taste of mom’s cooking so much whenever I visited my family. Hell, the two dollar hotdogs I got at the convenient store with my friends tasted amazing.

But obviously…trying to eat with people everyday is nearly impossible. My friends and family are busy with their own lives, so I can’t just ask them to come over all the time, nor am I willing to drive all the way to South Park just so I can have a meal with my parents. I’ve already graduated from college, so not like I can grab lunch with a random classmate I barely remember the name of. I also work alone at my photography studio, so…not like I have any co-workers to really invite for dinner.

So…I was pretty fucked.

Food tastes normal and delicious when I have people with me, but it tastes awful when I’m eating alone. Eating in a crowded restaurant also doesn’t help since I guess I’m still technically alone while I try to eat, so it’s pointless. Finally…I’m not big at socializing, so trying to make friends or meet new people isn’t easy, let alone trying to invite them out to eat.

So yeah…I was screwed in every direction. The only thing keeping me alive is just eating these tasteless nutritional jello I found, which yes, gives me the nutrients I need to live and whatever, but at the same time…I’d rather die than having to constantly eat something with a chewy texture while not tasting anything.

Ugh…times like this, I really wish I never took food for granted. Oh I would kill to just have something edible in my mouth…like a Turkey sandwich with rye bread, slathered with creamy mayo, and topped with the crispiest lettuce and ripest slice of tomato you would have ever seen….

“Ugh…” I groaned as my stomach started growling. “Shit…stop thinking about a fucking sandwich, Tucker, and focus on taking a few pictures…” I sighed as I finished adjusting my camera settings, and went back to work.

It was an early Saturday morning, and today was my day off. Since I didn’t have any work to do, I figured I’d step out and try to work on my project. I’ve been snapping photos of random things I saw on the street, hoping to find some inspiration, but so far…nothing is coming out great.

Doesn’t help that I haven’t eaten anything that morning aside from a glass of water and more of that tasteless jell-o. So yeah…I’m pretty much starving, and slightly lightheaded right now.

“...Shit…” I sighed as I finished snapping a photo of a flowerbed I found. It looked awful, all of these pictures I’ve taken so far looked awful. I immediately deleted them, and just let out a sigh, feeling a headache forming. “Nnn…maybe I should just go home and sleep for the rest of the day,” I muttered, already planning on not eating anything today.

Just as I was contemplating on heading home, I felt my phone buzz in my pocket. I took my phone out and sighed when I saw I was getting a call from Clyde.

“Hello?”

“Hey, man, what are you up to right now?”

I sighed, “trying to take some photos, but failing miserably because I can’t seem to focus right now,” I said.

“Oh man…did you…er…eat anything this morning?”

“Yeah, just water and that god awful jell-o crap.”

“Well it technically isn’t awful if it doesn’t taste anything…that’s the point, right?”

“....Clyde, what is it that you want?” I sighed, too cranky and tired for this shit.

“Ah, sorry! Let me cut to the chase! So like…I think I might have found an alternative solution to your food problem!”

“Great…can’t wait to hear it,” I sighed.

Out of all the people to know about my food issues, it had to be Clyde Donovan.

No shade on him, the guy has been helping me out as much as he could, hell, he’s even the one who suggested the whole dating stuff just so I find a good excuse to eat at a restaurant with someone. The thing is…I never intended on letting him know about this, hell, I never intended on letting anyone know. It’s not like I was trying to keep this a secret or anything, but I just thought it would be less troublesome if I didn’t tell people, and handled things on my own.

If I told my parents, they would freak out and force me to move back home with them just so I would be able to eat, and as tempting as that is…I still want to live independently, and I also can’t give up on my photography career. It took me years to save enough money and go from job to job just to open my studio, and I can’t let all that go to waste.

I also haven’t told all my friends about it because I didn’t want to bother them. I didn’t want them to feel obligated to drop everything just so they can have a meal with me everyday. I know they have their own lives, just as much as I have mine, so I really couldn’t do that to them.

So then…how did Clyde find out? Well…it was an accident. Clyde wanted to hang out with me at my apartment, and said he would bring a pizza for us. So obviously, I was waiting for him and expecting pizza. The issue was…Clyde ended up coming late because of traffic, and…I hadn’t eaten anything in two days, so I was already not doing well. So when Clyde finally showed up, I ended up passing out the moment I opened the door.

I still remembered how Clyde was crying over my barely conscious body, asking if I was dead or something, and all I said to him was to just hand me a slice of pizza.

In the end, I had to tell Clyde everything, and he’s been helping me out as much as he could, spending more time with me when he was free, trying to find alternative solutions on how I can eat without really having someone around, and of course, setting me up with random strangers and going on dinner dates with them.

So really, I am thankful for Clyde…he…just has the weirdest and dumbest ideas sometimes.

“Okay, have you heard of a mukabang?”

“...A muck…what?” I narrowed my eyes in confusion.

“It’s like this…er…Korean thing where someone films themselves eating a bunch of food while talking. Apparently, it’s pretty popular, kind of has that whole…ASMR feel to it, you know?”

“Okay? But…how exactly will that help me specifically? If anything, watching some random person eating food on screen would just make me feel envious…and maybe slightly disturbed,” I pointed out.

“Oh don’t worry about that, man! You see, I did some research-”

“You did research?” I raised an eyebrow.

“....Okay, I had Tolkien do the research, and he texted me an easy to understand summary…but apparently the reason why these mukbang videos are so popular is because for single people, watching videos of someone eating, while eating something yourself makes it feel like you’re eating with someone, and they end up feeling less lonely!”

“Oh…I get it,” I said, “....but you sure that will work? I mean…I’m still eating by myself, and not actually interacting with the person on screen.”

“Well it’s worth a try. Besides, didn’t that time we had me video call you while you eat helped a bit? You were able to eat something that time!”

“Yeah, it helped…but then it got super awkward just having you watch me while I was eating. In the end, I couldn’t finish anything because it was that weird,” I sighed.

“Hey, don’t blame me! I already ate earlier, so I wasn’t hungry when I called you, and I didn’t know if I was supposed to pay attention to you, or you just needed to know I was there to be able to eat something!”

I sighed, “look, I’ll try out the mukbang thing later, and I’ll let you know if it worked or not.”

“Good…let’s hope it does work! …By the way…er…last night…did you happen to meet up with…Tweek?”

“Why are you asking?” I asked, surprised that Clyde knew about me seeing Tweek last night.

“Well you see…Bebe got a message from that asshole who stood you up last night, complaining about a message you sent to him or something. Anyways, Bebe showed me the message..along with a picture of you and Tweek together. What the hell is that about?”

“Oh, that,” I sighed, “well…yeah, I saw Tweek last night, we met by chance,” I explained, “we just chatted for a bit, caught up, and he also basically sent that ‘screw you’ message to that jerk on my behalf. His idea, not mine.”

“Ah, makes sense…still…I can’t believe you met Tweek, it’s been like…what? Almost six years?”

“Yeah, just about. I did give Tweek shit for not calling, and he promised he’ll call everyone later, so look forward to that, Clyde,” I said.

“Well hey, I’m glad Tweek is doing okay…he seems…different though.”

“...Good difference…or…” I raised an eyebrow.

“Mmm…definitely…a good difference. Way better than when we were kids. I mean…remember how stressed he was in high school? He always acted like a zombie during classes, and seemed tired most days…”

“Yeah…I remember,” I muttered as I recalled how Tweek started acting off when we all started high school.

When I did ask Tweek about it once, he just said that working at his parent’s coffee shop has been rough on him. It was already bad enough that he barely slept at night, so working so hard everyday at his family’s coffee shop must have been exhausting for him.

I’m just glad he’s in a better place now, and no longer has to deal with all that stress back home.

“Still…I’m glad he’s doing well now…and it was also super lucky I met with him last night too. It felt like I was going to pass out if I tried going home without eating something. So when he showed up and we talked for a while, I was able to eat, even after he left shortly after,” I said.

“Oh thank god! Tweek for the save!”

I chuckled.

I then started wincing in pain when my stomach growled again, feeling super hungry. “Ugh…so…hungry…”

“Ah shit man, even I heard your stomach growling just now! Dude, just go find someplace to eat. You cannot go home in your current state!”

“You know I wouldn’t be able to stomach anything. I’m alone, and have no one to eat with,” I said.

“Well…try…talking to some random stranger or something! Small talk!”

I frowned, “you know damn well I hate small talk,” I huffed.

“Dude, you are literally going to hurt yourself if you don’t eat right this minute. I know you’re not a social butterfly, and hate interacting with people, let alone strangers, but for your own health and safety, you are going to find a nice and cozy place to eat, order something off their menu, chat with another customer or even the workers for a bit, and eat something. No working, no going home, and especially no sleeping all day!”

I sighed, pinching the bridge between my nose, “what are you? My own mom?”

“I’m looking out for you man…I don’t..want you passing out again.”

“....Fine…guess I’ll try to be a social butterfly today,” I said.

“Thank you. Anyways, I better go. I gotta figure out who to set you up with for your next date. …Might take me a while since…Jesus…Bebe sure knows a lot of gay guys…”

“...Are you sure all of them are…gay?”

“I don’t know…I think most of them are at least bisexual or pansexual…as for the rest….mm…so far it doesn’t say on their profiles…”

“...Right,” I sighed, keeping my mouth shut. “Just be sure to set me up with someone decent this time…and double check their profiles.”

“Will do! Talk to you later, man!”

“Talk to you later,” I said, then hung up.

My stomach growled again, and I gritted my teeth as I placed my hand over my stomach.

“Ugh…” I sighed as I looked around. I then stared down at my camera, frowning a bit. “....Guess I won’t be able to get any work done till I get something to eat…”

I began to walk around, trying to find a good place to eat. There were a few decent looking places around the area, but it seemed like the food they had were on the heavier and flavorful side, and right now, I should probably get something light and easy on the stomach, just in case I wasn’t able to find someone to talk to or eat with.

Suddenly, I smelled something pretty good. So good in fact that my stomach started growling. I followed where the scent was coming from until I ended up in front of what appeared to be a small bistro that’s all French themed. I noticed there was a sign outside the bistro, saying they were currently serving breakfast. There were even a few pictures of some of their breakfast items taped on the sign too.

It…looked good…

“....Alright…time to be a social butterfly,” I muttered as I walked inside.

The place was nice, not too heavily French themed like I thought it would, just a few pictures of some famous monuments you’d see in Paris, France, a French flag was also placed on the wall, and the music that was playing was just French music. The place definitely had a cozy atmosphere.

I waited to be seated until the hostess noticed me. She took me to one of the available tables, and I sat down. The hostess handed me a menu, and I just quickly scanned it until I found something that didn’t seem too heavy.

“Ready to order?” A server asked as she took out a pen and notepad.

“I’ll have the Simple Breakfast, please, and some ice water,” I said.

“Alright then. It’ll be ready in a few minutes,” the server said as she wrote down my order, and took the menu away.

As I was waiting for my order, I decided to look around to see if there was anyone I could talk to. There currently weren’t that many customers around, but I could still make this work. I glanced around the tables near me, so far I’ve only seen an elderly couple, a mother with her two kids, one older lady sitting by herself, and a young looking guy who seems to be close to my age.

I decided to talk to the guy since I figured it’ll be easier to talk to him. I waved my hand at him, once he noticed me looking, and he looked at me all confused.

“Uh, hi! This place seems pretty nice, right?” I asked, starting the conversation.

“Oh uh…yeah…guess it’s nice. Very…French themed,” the guy said.

“Ha ha, yeah…very…very French. Cozy though, right?”

“Sure, pretty cozy,” the guy shrugged, looking confused. He’s probably wondering why I was trying to talk to him.

I was getting nervous since I suck at small talk, let alone leading a conversation, but I just kept smiling, and trying to be as engaged in this conversation as best as I could.

“So uh…what are you eating there?” I asked, gesturing to his food.

“Oh…um…French…toast,” the guy answered.

“Oh nice…is it…is it good?” I asked.

“Yeah…I guess…taste like…well…French toast…nothing too special about them,” the guy replied.

“Ah…neat…I uh…I ordered the uh…Simple Breakfast,” I said.

“...Cool?”

As if on cue, the server came back with my food. Thank God!

“Here’s your order,” the server said as she placed my food down onto my table.

“Thanks,” I said. I then glanced back at the guy, smiling a bit, “uh…guess I’ll enjoy my food…enjoy…your French toast,” I said.

“...Sure…thanks,” the guy said as he went back to eating his food.

I quickly turned around and looked at my plate. It smelled so good…

“...I hope that helped,” I prayed as I grabbed my fork and knife, and began cutting a small piece of the toast, eggs, and bacon. I then carefully put the food into my mouth. “....Mmmff!” I gripped my utensils tightly as my knees nearly jerked against the table.

Oh god…this taste fucking awful.

I couldn’t bring myself to chew. I quickly grabbed a napkin and spat the food out. I then grabbed my water and chugged as much as I could to get the taste out of my mouth.

“Fuck…guess…that didn’t work,” I sighed.

I did think of maybe trying to talk to the guy again, but when I glanced back, I saw the guy had his headphones on, and turned his body slightly away, so I could only see his side and back.

The universal signal that he didn’t want to be talked to. Great…

I sighed as I turned back around, and just stared at my plate. I already know it would still taste like crap if I tried to eat it again…but…I really can’t afford to not eat something.

“Hopefully the next bite is less…horrible,” I sighed as I grabbed the toast and took a bite out of it. “Nnnnffff…” my eye was twitching at the taste. It tasted like dried up cardboard that was dipped vigorously in sand and tar.

At least it was slightly tolerable as I forced myself to chew and swallow. I then picked up my water and took a few more sips.

“Ugh…brain…make up your mind…” I sighed. For some reason, each time I force myself to eat, the taste isn’t the same for each bite, which means there is a chance it’ll taste less awful, but the inconsistencies just makes me wanna throw up.

I stared at my plate, not sure if I can handle taking another bite now. The last bite wasn’t too bad, but that just means the next one might be so bad I might actually get sick.

Ugh…I just want to have a normal breakfast…is that too hard to ask?

“...Craig?”

I froze when I heard my name. I looked up, and I was surprised to see it was Tweek.

“Tweek?” I was confused as to why he was here.

“Wow, I was not expecting to see you again so soon,” Tweek said, looking surprised to see me, “how did you know where I worked? You aren’t stalking me or something are you?” Tweek asked, a playful grin on his face.

I smiled, “no, this is a huge coincidence,” I said.

“A very huge coincidence,” Tweek said as he walked over towards me. “What are you doing here?”

“Oh you know…just…having breakfast,” I said, glancing at my plate, “and you?”

“Oh, just starting my morning shift,” Tweek sighed, “normally I work the afternoon and evening shifts, but they needed someone to help cut the fruits for the bar, and I’m the only one qualified to do so since the usual guy is out sick today.”

I raised an eyebrow, “you need to be qualified to cut fruit?” I asked.

“It’s a health and safety thing. Servers aren’t allowed to do any prep work or handle the food, just serve it to the customers,” Tweek explained.

“Then how come you’re qualified?” I asked.

“Ah…well…I’ve actually been…trying to get a bartending license, and have been practicing mixology with the help of one of the bartenders here. I obviously can’t serve drinks yet, but I hope I can one day,” Tweek smiled.

“Wow, I didn’t know you were into making drinks,” I said.

“Yeah well…after spending years working at my family’s coffee shop and making coffee for people…I figured I could expand my drink making knowledge and try something that…won’t burn my hands constantly,” Tweek said.

I nodded, “yeah…probably for the best,” I said, “but uh…you still make coffee?” I asked.

Tweek nodded, "occasionally, only when I’m scheduled for the morning shift,” Tweek said, “otherwise, I just make basic coffee at home with a cheap coffeemaker and some instant coffee,” Tweek smiled.

I chuckled, “only for the best,” I joked.

I glanced at my food, then glanced at Tweek. This was probably the only opportunity I had in order for me to eat something.

“H-hey….uh…if you’re not too busy…you wanna…join me?” I asked.

“Huh? Like..right now?” Tweek asked.

“Yeah…but of course if you still gotta cut up some fruit for your boss, I understand,” I said.

Tweek snorted, “...well…all those fruits won’t cut themselves…but….I’m sure they can wait a bit longer,” Tweek said as he sat down across from me, “mind if I steal some bacon? Didn’t really eat much this morning.”

“Oh, same,” I chuckled. I then pushed the plate towards him.

“Thanks,” Tweek smiled as he grabbed some of my bacon and took a small bite, “....huh…is something wrong with the food? You barely touched it,” Tweek said, noticing how I barely ate anything, he also glanced at the napkin I used to spit out my first bite earlier.

“Oh! No, it’s great…really…really great…I just…not hungry right now,” I said.

My stomach suddenly started growling.

“....”

“...Not hungry, huh?”

“....Ha ha…” I didn’t know what to say and just laughed awkwardly.

“Hey…Craig, are things alright?” Tweek asked.

“What? Y-yeah of course…why do you ask?” I asked.

“Well…it’s just…you seem a lot different these days,” Tweek said.

“Pff…come on, of course I’m different. No one stays the same after high school, right? I mean…look at you, you’ve changed with your hair and everything,” I pointed out.

“Yeah, I know that…but…you seem different in a different way…more…concerning,” Tweek said.

“What? What…makes you say that?” I asked.

“Well…for starters, you’re a lot skinnier than I remembered,” Tweek said.

“Oh come on…just because I lost a bit of weight isn’t something to worry about. Tons of people lose weight for many reasons, especially for healthy reasons,” I pointed out.

“Sure…but…you don’t look all that healthy,” Tweek said.

“Huh?”

Tweek leaned forward, “you look pale, Craig…almost sickly. Even last night…though it was a bit hard to tell, I could still tell you didn’t look all that great,” Tweek said.

I was shocked. I mean, I did put on makeup last night for my date, just so I had some color on my face, but to think he noticed…shit.

“I just…don’t go out much. As a photographer, I tend to stay indoors a lot to develop my photos, you know?” I said.

“Okay, but then…how come when I saw you last night…you barely ate your food? Hell…even now you’re barely eating anything,” Tweek said.

“....” I didn’t know what to say to that.

“...Craig…you’re not…sick are you?” Tweek asked.

“N-no, of course not,” I said.

“Alright, but…let me know you are,” Tweek said as he placed his hand over mind, “I…I’m worried for you, Craig, and if you are sick…if you’re…dealing with something or anything…you can tell me. You don’t have to hide anything from me. I just…want you to be healthy and okay,” Tweek said, looking at me with a worried gaze.

“....” I stared at his hand over mine, and blushed a bit out of embarrassment. “I’m sorry for making you worry, Tweek, but I promise you…I’m fine…really,” I said before I glanced at my plate, grabbed my fork, and grabbed some bacon. I then put it in my mouth, and began eating with no problem. “See? I’m fine,” I said, smiling at him.

“....Okay,” Tweek said, still a bit unsure, but he had a smile on his face.

I swallowed, and let out a sigh of relief. I glanced at my food before I began to eat, and continued chatting with Tweek a little longer.

After finishing my food, with some help from Tweek, Tweek then checked the time on his phone.

“I better get back to work,” Tweek said as he got up.

“Ah, sorry for keeping you,” I said.

“No, it’s fine,” Tweek smiled, “thanks for breakfast.”

“Yeah, of course, and thanks for keeping me company,” I said.

Tweek grinned, “anytime. Let’s…do this again soon,” Tweek said.

“Definitely,” I said.

Tweek nodded and soon left to get back to work, and I sat there, feeling full and satisfied.

“....” Not gonna lie…I did feel…guilty for not outright telling Tweek what was going on, and I know I should just tell him, but…I don’t know…I feel this whole situation is something I should be handling myself, and I didn’t want to bother Tweek with anything.

Tweek finally seems happy with his life right now, and I didn’t want to ruin that for him, especially after he’s been through a lot when we were in high school.

I sighed as I called for the server to come over. “I’d like the check, please,” I said.

“Certainly,” the server said. She left for a few seconds and came back with the check, “and how was your meal, sir?”

“....It was…very delicious,” I said with a small smile.

Oddly enough, the food tasted way better than I thought.

Dating….

Not a fan.

Okay, not saying I don’t want to date people, or even get into a relationship with someone, it’s just…the whole dating process is so…fucking…tedious.

Meeting and talking to someone? That’s fine, no problem. Getting to know each other through calls and texts. That’s great, gotta know who you’re dealing with, you know? Meeting them in person and going on a date? If texting was easy, then sure, this should be a walk in the park. Finding out the person you’ve been talking to for the past few days is a total fucking fuckwad? …Yeah, you lost me.

Don’t get me wrong, not all the dates that Clyde has set me up were total disasters, some were nice, some were interesting, and some…I’ve actually gone out with a few more times. The only reason they never lasted long is…well either because our goals don’t align, either they or I lost interest, or again…they hid who they really are, and end up being…fucking fuckwads.

And look, I get that when trying to date people these days isn’t easy, especially with certain people that only want to go out with the expectation to get laid, and hey…no shade on that, I sometimes look for a casual hook up every now and then, but when you literally push for it…and on the first fucking date…yeah…I question humanity sometimes.

Honestly, the main reason I’ve never been interested in dating anyone, even after I realized I was gay was mainly because…I guess I’m worried that I won’t be able to find someone that just accepted me for…well me. And that worry has grown even more after my whole eating issues I’ve been dealing with. Hell, even the people I did ended up officially dating for a short while…I’ve never really told them about it.

It’s…complicated.

Still…the only reason I even agree to Clyde’s idea to go out on these dates is…well obviously…I need someone to eat with. I can’t keep spending days eating nothing, I can’t keep forcing myself to eat food that tastes awful to me because my lonely brain is making the food taste awful, and I just can’t keep eating…tasteless mush for the rest of my life either.

So as much as I hate the whole dating process, it’s a necessity at this point for my own survival. Besides…even if I do meet some bad matches, I still find some guys that seem compatible…and who knows…maybe…I might end up finding that one guy I wouldn’t mind going steady with. Someone who just…gets me.

“....Boy, you sure are loving the spaghetti and meatballs there.”

I paused midway eating, some noodles sticking out of my mouth. I blushed a bit as I quickly slurped up the noodles and used my napkin to wipe any sauce on my lips and chin.

“Sorry, just…really hungry…didn’t eat much today,” I said. Not a lie, I definitely didn’t eat anything before coming to this date.

Currently, it was a Friday night, and Clyde has once again found me a date. His name is Michael, and from what I know about him, he’s around my age, works in IT, and is bisexual. Based on what Clyde said, this guy was pretty nice, no complaints from any previous dates he’s been to, and even Bebe says he’s a catch.

“Well then, don’t hold back on my account. I like a guy who has a big appetite,” Michael smiled.

“....Uh…thanks,” I said, slightly blushing out of embarrassment. I did continue eating, but being sure to take smaller bites this time to not look like a hot mess.

So far, nothing seems off about him, no comparing me to other people, no telling me what I should and shouldn’t eat, and especially no weird vibes from him. The date so far has been enjoyable, but I still wouldn’t say there were any…sparks between him and I.

Oh well, guess I can chalk this one up as a one time casual date, and maybe gain a new friend out of this. I’m just glad I finally got something to eat.

After dinner, we left the restaurant after paying, and I thought we were going our separate ways, but Michael stopped me when he noticed I wasn’t heading towards the parking lot.

“Aren’t you gonna head to your car?”

“Oh, no. I actually ubered here,” I explained.

“Oh, then uh…want me to drive you home?” Michael asked.

“You don’t have to, I can just call an uber,” I said.

“Oh come on, you really wanna waste money on an uber ride? You know the prices skyrocketed recently, and are even more expensive during the evening,” Michael pointed out.

“....Well…I guess we did spend a lot on our meals…” I muttered. I shrugged. I ain’t going to say no to a free ride. “Sure,” I said as I put my phone away and followed Michael to his car.

We headed to my apartment after I gave Michael the directions. We didn’t say much, just started talking about nothing and whatever we could think of in our heads. We eventually arrived at my place after twenty minutes.

“Thanks for the ride,” I said as I opened the door to get out. Once I was out, I was about to climb up the stairs towards my apartment, but I stopped when I noticed Michael getting out of the car as well. “Uh…need something?” I asked.

Michael smiled as he walked closer towards me, which caused me to take a step back to make some space between us.

“I just wanted to say…tonight was great,” Michael smiled.

“....Okay?” Was it? I mean…I don’t even remember half of the shit he was saying during our date. It was all random crap that no one would care about.

“I was um…thinking…we could go out again,” Michael said, blushing a bit.

Oh great…

I smiled, feeling uncomfortable, “uh…sure…would love to go out again. Let’s totally make plans for next time,” I said. I honestly didn’t want to, but figured I could just use the opportunity to get more food to eat.

Michael seemed happy as he smiled widely, “I’m so glad you feel the same…”

Suddenly, I saw Michael moving closer, and I saw him leaning closer towards me. My eyes widened when I realized what he was trying to do.

“Woah there, buddy!” I exclaimed as I shoved my hand in front of his lips, “uh…what the hell are you doing?” I asked, getting annoyed.

“....?” Michael looked confused as he pushed my hand away, “huh? I thought we were having a moment…”

“Moment!?” I stared at him in shock, “dude, this is just a first date…and just because I agreed to go for a second date doesn’t mean we are having a moment,” I said, “like…who fucking kisses someone on the first date!?”

“I thought…you wanted this?” Michael said, I noticed his face was flushed as he looked me up and down at my body.

I shuddered, “uh…look…I think…we’re not all that compatible here…maybe you should just go home and-”

Just as I was about to leave, Michael grabbed my hand, preventing me from leaving.

“Huh? I thought you wanted this,” Michael said.

“Want…what!?” I said, trying to pull my hand away.

“Oh don’t play coy,” Michael smirked as he suddenly placed his hand on my chest and started moving his hand down.

“What the fuck!?” I said as I ripped my hand out of his grip, and pushed him away from me, “okay, you are going way too far,” I huffed, “if you don’t get out of here, I’m calling the police.” I even took my phone out, ready to call for help if he tries something.

“I don’t get why you’re acting like this. Bebe told me you were the type to look for fun,” Michael said.

“...What? What are you talking about?”

“Well, when Bebe told me about you, I wasn’t interested since you seem like the boring type, but she kept insisting you were fun, the funnest guy she knew, and that you were the type to try…anything, even on a first date,” Michael smirked.

“What? Why would….oh…” I realized that maybe when Clyde was trying to set us up…he might have exaggerated some things about me to him. “God damn it, Clyde,” I pinched the bridge of my nose.

“Clyde? Who’s Clyde?” Michael asked, frowning a bit.

“My friend, and the idiot who told you all that crap about me,” I sighed.

“What? Wasn’t it Bebe who sent me that message?”

“Clyde is Bebe’s current boyfriend, and he was just helping me out by setting me up with you, so obviously…he exaggerated some shit,” I sighed, “whatever he said to you, all of it is a lie. I am not a fun person like he said I was, and I definitely am a boring person. So…I’m sorry if you were misled here, but I seriously think we should just go our separate ways,” I sighed, hoping this will be enough to make him lose interest in me.

“I…see…” Michael said, glancing away.

I figured he was disappointed, so I tried stepping away again, “yeah, so uh…so sorry to have wasted your time, hopefully the next person is more to your liking,” I said as I turned to leave.

“...Wait,” Michael suddenly grabbed my hand again, stopping me from leaving.

“Ugh, what now?” I frowned.

Michael looked at me and he seemed…aroused?

“Well…it is disappointing to know that stuff about you is a lie…but I have a feeling you definitely are the fun type.”

“Uh, no? I’m definitely boring,” I said, “I like doing laundry, I sleep a lot, I don’t go out that much, and I like taking photos of random cats I see on the street,” I said.

“Oh, don’t be coy with me. I know all about your dating history,” Michael said, smirking.

“My what?” I looked at him, confused.

“Yeah, after I agreed to talk to you, I looked into you more. I can’t believe you went out with so many people in such a short amount of time. I mean…twelve dates just last month…wow…that’s like…three different people a week,” Michael said.

I was shocked. How the hell did he find out about that?! It’s not like I post my dates online or anything.

“H-how’d you find out about that?” I asked.

“Oh, don’t worry, I wasn’t stalking you or anything, I just happened to know some of the people you’ve gone on dates before, specifically one guy who did post a picture of you and him about…three months ago?”

I frowned. I did vaguely remember going out with this one dude who kept having his phone out and snapping pictures throughout our date. I didn’t really care at the time since I was busy eating, but it was annoying having a phone shoved in front of your face, and hearing about how this guy is going to be some big influencer one day.

“Yeah, after I talked to him about you, he also mentioned some other people you’ve gone out with, who I also know, and…well…the rest repeats. Helps that a good chunk of us knew Bebe and…even had some fun together,” Michael smiled.

Oh god damn it, Bebe…why do you have to be so…experimental and rambunctious with your sex life?

“Still, to date that many people…either you’re that picky when finding a partner…or…you’re looking for something else…something…fun,” Michael smirked.

I blushed, “are you like…implying that I’m going on these dates so I could hook up with them?”

“Hey, I’m not judging, so no need to be shy about it. Lots of people usually go on dates just for a quick hook up, no need to feel ashamed,” Michael said.

“Look, I’m not going on these dates with the goal of having sex with them, really!”

“Oh no need to pretend, Craig. I know you were looking for some fun when you were eyeing me earlier.”

“What the fuck are you talking about!?” I exclaimed.

“I know you want this.”

“All I want is to go home and end this fucked up date,” I said as I tried to leave, but the douchebag kept his grip on me, preventing me from leaving. “If you don’t let go right this minute, I’m going to kick your ass!”

“Come on, don’t be like that…I know you want it…”

“I said…get of-”

“Get the fuck off of him you creep!” A loud shrilled voice was heard from a distance.

We looked across the street, and to my surprise, it was Tweek.

“Tweek?”

Tweek looked from side to side before crossing the street, running towards us. Tweek immediately got close, and extended his arm out, shielding me from Michael, and glaring at him.

“Y-you! D-don’t you lay a hand on him!” Tweek exclaimed.

“Who’s this? One of your hook ups?” Michael asked.

Tweek glared at him, but I placed my hand on his shoulder, letting him know to calm down.

“No, he’s my friend,” I said.

“Yeah, and if you don’t get the fuck out of here and leave him alone, there will be trouble!” Tweek huffed.

“Oh? What are you going to do?” Michael said as he towered over Tweek, using his height as an advantage.

“Oh, I wouldn’t provoke him,” I said, “Tweek might not look like it, but he’s taken some boxing classes…and let me just say…his right hook packs a punch,” I said.

Tweek glared at him as he took his stance and raised his fists. “Try me, motherfucker,” Tweek said, gritting his teeth.

“....Tch…fuck this,” Michael walks back towards his car, and gets in.

“And be sure to drop my number, asshole!” I shouted at him as he began driving off. I then raised my hand to flip him off.

“Jesus Christ…are you okay, Craig?” Tweek asked as he turned towards me, checking me over.

“I’m fine, don’t worry. Thanks,” I said.

“Thank god I arrived just in time before that creep did something to you,” Tweek said, sighing in relief.

“....Hey…why are you here?” I asked, “and how did you find out where I lived? I don’t think I ever told you my address.”

“O-oh…uh…Clyde told me,” Tweek said, looking a bit guilty.

“Okay…but why did you ask Clyde where I live instead of just asking me?” I asked, staring at Tweek suspiciously.

“.....”

“Tweek,” I frowned a bit.

“....” Tweek sighed, “....I…I was worried about you since the last time we met…and…I knew you weren’t going to tell me the truth, so…I went behind your back and asked Clyde about it,” Tweek said.

My eyes widened, “w-what did he…tell you?” I asked.

“....Everything, the dating stuff, your condition, how…you’ve been going days without eating anything,” Tweek said, looking worried.

“God damn it, Clyde,” I sighed, getting pissed he would just tell Tweek all that.

“Don’t be mad at him, I was insistent he tell me everything…even guilt tripping him a little when I told him about how you were acting last Saturday. He’s worried about you, hell…I’m worried about you,” Tweek said.

“.....Shit,” I sighed as I rubbed the back of my neck. First a terrible date, getting harassed by an asshole, and now this…just my luck.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Tweek asked.

“....It’s…not like I wanted to hide it from you…or from anyone. I just…figured I could handle this on my own,” I said.

“Dude, you’re lucky Clyde is helping you at all! If Clyde wasn’t around, you’d be dead,” Tweek frowned.

“Oh come on, give me more credit than that! I would have done something if I knew my body was at its limit. I could have eaten more of that healthy jell-o stuff, or even just make myself eat food regardless of how it tastes,” I said.

“Even so, Craig, you can’t live like this! Edging death, putting yourself in a risky situation…” Tweek said, looking extremely worried, “hell, you almost got taken advantage of by that asshole just now!”

“Oh please, he wasn’t going to do anything. I wouldn’t let him,” I said.

“Craig….”

“Tweek, I’m fine, really. You don’t have to worry about me. Just live your life, and I’ll live mine,” I said.

“How can I not worry when my best friend can’t eat normally and has to rely on being with people to have a decent meal!?” Tweek exclaimed.

“.....” I stared at Tweek in shock.

Tweek looked down, tears in his eyes as he looked at me sadly, “....I…I don’t want you to starve yourself, Craig, let alone die! I…I care about you, man! We all do! So…don’t act like an idiot and try to do things yourself! Just..rely on us too sometimes! We’re here for you!” Tweek said, nearly crying.

“...But…what can any of you do? I mean…you all got your lives to live, and I can’t just have you all drop everything for me, not just that, but everyone we know don’t even live in the same area anymore. It’s not like I can ask all of our friends to travel miles from where they are and have a meal with me everyday,” I pointed out.

“....Then…why don’t I eat with you everyday from now on?”

“What?”

“Come on, that’s the most logical answer here, isn’t it? We both live in the same city, you own your own photography studio, so you can easily set up your own schedule to match with mine, and you won’t need to go on anymore dates with a bunch of assholes just so you can eat something!” Tweek pointed out.

“....I guess…it does make the most sense,” I said.

“Yeah, it does! Not just that…but you can finally eat three meals a day instead of just one,” Tweek pointed out.

“....Ugh…you make a compelling argument. …And I really really hate going on these dates,” I said, “...okay, fine. We’ll do it your way,” I said.

Tweek smiled, “thank you,” Tweek sighed in relief.

I sighed, “well…I guess this was a better outcome…I don’t even know how many more people Clyde can set me up with since I’m sure Bebe doesn’t know that many people…” I said.

“And let’s not forget that most of the people you went out with had at least fucked Bebe at one point during their time with her,” Tweek said.

“....Right…you have a point,” I sighed.

I glanced at Tweek, who stood there awkwardly, wiping the tears from his eyes now that he stopped crying. I did feel guilty for hiding all this from him, and I feel like an idiot for just not being honest. I owe Tweek…so much right now.

“...Thanks…for helping me out here. …I know I can be stubborn…”

“Very stubborn,” Tweek said.

“Yeah…that,” I sighed, “but…I appreciate it, man,” I said.

“Hey…it’s fine…it’s the least I can do from all the times you helped me out when we were kids,” Tweek said.

“Come on, I wasn’t the only one who helped you out back then,” I said.

“No, but…you…” Tweek trailed off.

“....I…what?” I asked him.

“....” Tweek looked at me, “....you were more comforting,” Tweek said.

“....Pff…is that really all? That’s lame,” I snorted.

Tweek frowned, “oh fuck you,” Tweek sighed, “what? You want me to say something more nice to stroke that ego of yours? Should I have said you were the light at the end of the tunnel? My savior? The most generous guy I ever knew?” Tweek rolled his eyes.

I chuckled, “no…but would have been nice to hear,” I smiled at him, “but…I’m glad I was able to help out back then…and I’m even more glad you’re doing better now.”

Tweek smiled, “thanks.”

I sighed as I glanced at my building. All I want right now is to take a shower, and sleep.

“Well…I better head inside now…you okay to walk back home on your own?” I asked.

“I’m good, surprisingly after I asked Clyde for your address, I found out that you only live a few blocks from where I am,” Tweek said.

“Wow…another major coincidence…and yet not once have we stumbled upon each sooner,” I said.

“Well…I’m usually busy with my art and work…what’s your excuse?” Tweek asked.

“I’m busy with work too…and I just don’t like leaving my apartment unless I have to,” I said.

“Jesus,” Tweek rolled his eyes as he turned to leave, “...I’ll see you in the morning.”

“Uh…yeah, see you,” I said.

Tweek waved me goodbye and then proceeded to leave. Once he was out of sight, I let out a sigh as I walked upstairs and began heading towards my apartment.

Once I was inside my apartment, I took out my phone to give Clyde an update.

8:40pm

The date was a total bust. Guy was a total jerk

Clyde 8:41pm

What!? Not Michael…he seemed like a nice guy. Even Bebe approved of him!

8:41pm

Well I guess he was a good actor or something. Piece of shit tried to have sex with me…oh and thanks for all that exaggeration on me being fun, by the way…

Clyde 8:42pm

I’m sorry!!!! If I had known, I wouldn’t have said you were the fun type, I would have just said you were boring, dull, and have little personality!!!!

8:42pm

Dude….

Clyde 8:43pm

Sorry…I didn’t mean that last part. But I’ll make it up to you! Want me to set you up with someone else?

I paused and Tweek’s face flashed into my mind. A smile crept on my face as I began to reply to Clyde.

8:44pm

No need. I found a new solution. So…no more blind dates…especially with people that knew Bebe…please…

Clyde 8:45pm

Huh? You found something else to help? W-what is it!? You gotta tell me, dude!!!!

I let out a yawn, already feeling sleepy. I decided to leave Clyde on read, and put my phone down on my coffee table.

“Better head to bed early if I’m going to wake up on time for breakfast in the morning,” I muttered as I walked towards my bathroom.

I was very much looking forward to having breakfast with Tweek.

I let out a groan when I heard the sound of my phone notification going off, followed by someone calling me. I reached out and grabbed my phone from my nightstand, only to see a couple of messages from Tweek.

Tweek 8:00am

I’m here!

Tweek 8:03am

Craig? Are you still asleep?

Tweek 8:05am

Dude, wake up! It’s freezing out here!

“Shit,” I quickly got out of bed and began to call Tweek back. “Hey…”

“Finally, you’re awake!

“Sorry, I didn’t know you would be coming this early,” I said as I let out a yawn.

“Well I’m here now, so can you please tell me what your apartment number is?”

“Ah, right,” I quickly told Tweek my room number and that I was on the second floor.

After a few minutes, I heard my door knocking. I quickly rushed towards my front door, and opened it.

“Morning,” I greeted Tweek.

“Good morning,” Tweek smiled as he walked inside. “Wow, your place looks nice,” Tweek commented.

I shrugged, “it’s not too minimalistic is it?” I asked.

“Oh please, I would kill to have an apartment like yours right now…currently my place is a total warzone. White sheets covering the floors, paint splattered everywhere, and a dozen coffee mugs that I really should get around to washing before they start getting moldy,” Tweek said, looking a bit uneased.

“Ah, but if you do clean your apartment, it wouldn’t have that Tweek charm,” I smirked.

“Pff, what the hell does that even mean?” Tweek chuckled.

Tweek then looked around for a bit before I noticed him staring at my kitchen.

“Alright, I’ll get breakfast ready,” Tweek smiled as he walked over towards the fridge.

“Uh..w-wait!” I tried to stop him, but it was too late.

The moment Tweek opened my fridge, he froze when he saw there wasn’t anything inside, just some cups of flavorless and nutritious jell-o, a few bottles of water, and a half bottle of supplements.

“....Craig..what the actual fuck?” Tweek turned to me, looking at me in disbelief.

I blushed out of embarrassment and turned to look away, “well…considering I can’t eat food normally when I’m home alone…why bother going out for groceries? It would just be a waste of food and money,” I said.

Tweek sighed as he closed my fridge door, “I guess I should have expected that…but to have absolutely nothing…that’s just sad, man,” Tweek said, giving me a pitiful look.

I sighed, “ugh, don’t patronize me here. It’s already bad enough that I spend a lot of money when I go on dates, and half the time these assholes make me pay for everything.”

Tweek sighed, but smiled at me. He walked over and gently patted me on the shoulder, “then…let’s go eat out today, and we’ll stop by at a supermarket or something to get your groceries. I’ll pay,” Tweek said.

“N-no, you don’t need to do that,” I said.

“What? You don’t think I don’t have enough money or something?” Tweek asked, placing his hands on his hip.

“Well…I mean…I’m sure being a server of a small French bistro isn’t exactly a high paying job,” I pointed out.

“...No…but I do commissions online, selling my paintings to people, so I still get a steady enough income,” Tweek said.

“Still…I don’t want you spending so much on me,” I said.

“Hey,” Tweek placed his hands on my shoulders, and looked at me, “you’ve helped me out a lot when we were kids…and I want to return the favor, so…just shut up, and let me treat you for today.”

“.....Alright,” I relented.

Tweek grinned, “great, then…I have the perfect place where we can eat,” Tweek said before glancing down, “oh uh…but you should probably change…I don’t think wearing pajama pants and a white tank top is appropriate attire,” Tweek said.

“Ah…right,” I said as I quickly walked back into my bedroom to get change.

After I changed, we both headed out to the place Tweek mentioned. I thought it would be far, but luckily it was like a fifteen minute walk from my apartment, so we managed to arrive at around 8:40am.

“Is this a diner?” I asked.

“Yeah. They make the best waffles here…as well as a good cup of coffee,” Tweek smiled. Tweek walked towards the door and opened it wide, and gestured for me to go in first.

“My, what a gentleman,” I smiled. I then proceeded to head inside, and Tweek soon followed.

We let the waitress know our presence and she gestured for us to sit at any available table, so we sat at one of the booths, and began checking the menu.

“God…all of this looks good,” I said, already feeling myself salivating at some of the pictures, “I don’t even know what to choose.”

Tweek chuckled before calling over the waitress, “we’ll get two orders of the house special waffles, please, and I’ll get a coffee with cream and sugar…and…anything you want to drink, Craig?” Tweek asked.

“Orange juice,” I said.

“And an orange juice,” Tweek said.

“Coming right up,” the waitress said as she took our menus and walked away from our table.

“I hope you’re okay with just the waffles,” Tweek said.

“Yeah, that’s fine. At this point, I’m happy with just about anything,” I said, already getting hungry.

Tweek smiled, “well…if you want anything else, let me know. I’m going to make sure you are well-fed today.”

“....Again…I want to say…thanks for helping me out…and…again…I’m sorry for not telling you about this sooner…and-”

“Hey…it’s alright,” Tweek said as he placed his hand over mine, “...I get telling people something like this isn’t…easy, and I get you had your reasons, but…I do hope you can rely on me a bit more from now on,” Tweek said.

“....Yeah…I will,” I said, smiling at him.

After a few minutes, the waitress comes back with our food. The moment I saw the fluffiest looking stack of waffles in front of me, I felt my stomach growling. I never knew waffles could look so…delicious.

Two golden waffles stacked on top of each other, whip cream topped over them, and golden syrup evenly poured all over them.

“Enjoy,” Tweek said as he grabbed his knife and fork and began eating his waffles.

I gulped as I grabbed my utensils and began digging in. The moment I took my first bite, it felt like I was in heaven. “Jesus Christ…I think I might just come from these waffles,” I said, shutting my eyes. I was in pure bliss.

“Dude, don’t say that while I’m trying to eat,” Tweek chuckled, “but I’m glad you’re enjoying them.”

“Oh you better believe it,” I said.

I’m not usually a sweets guy, but Christ, I’d eat a dozen of these a day if I could.

I began scarfing down my food, trying to savor every bite as much as I could. God…I don’t even remember the last time I had waffles, but these were beyond good.

“Easy there, Craig. Those waffles aren’t going anywhere, so no need to rush,” Tweek said, eyeing me cautiously.

I swallowed, and used my napkin to wipe my mouth, “sorry…when you haven’t had decent food in such a long time, you tend to go…a bit overboard,” I said.

“Noted,” Tweek sighed. Tweek glanced down, a worried expression on his face, “have…have you ever figured out a cure for this?” Tweek asked.

“Sadly…there is no cure,” I said, “When I first realized my taste buds were altering the food I ate, I went to see the doctors immediately. Initially, they thought it was something called dysgeusia, but apparently the cause for that is either bad oral hygiene, smoking, medication, or just getting old,” I explained, “none of that applied, so then…I went to get a mental health check up…and seems that’s the most likely cause. It’s all in my head…and there aren't any pills or medication I can take to make my brain stop altering my taste buds and making things taste…gross,” I explained.

“Christ…that must be hard,” Tweek said, looking worried, “have you tried any methods to get your brain to not make food taste bad?”

“Yeah, I did a bunch of stuff. At first, I tried just forcing myself to eat food, thinking my brain will get used to it, but it didn’t help as I ended up getting sick. I then tried eating small portions and slowly accumulated my brain to be used to me eating alone, but same deal. I even tried that miracle berry thing that is supposed to alter your taste buds, hoping that it’ll make bad food taste good…but if anything…it just made it worse…” I sighed.

“That’s awful,” Tweek said, looking sad, “it must be hard having to deal with that everyday.”

“It is…which is why I’m…super appreciative of Clyde for helping me out,” I said smiling a bit, “honestly…even if some of his ideas to get me to eat food without needing people with me can be…strange…or dumb…at least he’s trying…and I’m thankful for everything he’s done so far,” I said. I then glanced up at Tweek, “and…I’m thankful towards you too, Tweek.”

“....” Tweek looked at me and smiled, “heh…of course. I’ll…always be there for you, Craig,” Tweek said.

Just as we were having a bit of a moment, we jumped a bit when the waitress from earlier suddenly showed up and placed what appeared to be a milkshake in front of us. It was pink, so strawberry? It had whip cream on top, and a maraschino cherry. What was even more odd was there was a heart shaped straw, but it had two ends connected by the heart. It looks like something you’d see couples use to share a drink or something.

“Uh…what’s this?” I asked, looking confused. Even Tweek seemed confused by this.

“Oh, well we’re doing a bit of a promotion thing where couples get our lover’s milkshake on the house,” the waitress said with a smile.

We both blushed

“W-what!? C-couples!?” Tweek panicked, his face completely red.

“W-we’re not…he’s not…I’m not…” I began stuttering before I cleared my throat, “We…aren’t a couple…we’re just…friends,” I said.

“Yes…who happens to be gay…but two gay people can just be friends and not be a couple!” Tweek said.

“Dude, you didn’t need to explain that part to her,” I said.

“I panicked!” Tweek said, still red in the face.

“Oh! I am so sorry for the misunderstanding, you two. Could fool me with how you two were looking at each other,” the waitress laughed.

“...What?” I stared at her in disbelief.

“Oh…er…nevermind…um…here, you can keep the milkshake as an apology. Free of charge,” the waitress laughed before she turned to leave.

“...”

“...”

We both sat in silence, just staring at each other, at the milkshake, then back at each other. That was…very awkward…

“...Heh…well…wasn’t expecting that,” Tweek said, still blushing.

“Ahem…yeah…same here,” I said.

Tweek glanced at the milkshake, “do you…do you want to…share this?” Tweek asked.

“Oh…uh…sure, I guess,” I said, blushing a bit. “....It does kind of look good though.”

“Heh…yeah…it kind of does,” Tweek smiled.

We both couldn’t help but laugh at the situation, and just let it go. We ended up sharing the milkshake together, and having a very pleasant breakfast together.

Tweek and I continued to see each other for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. For breakfast, Tweek would stop by my place first since I have a hard time waking up in the morning, and we either go out to eat or make something at my place now that I finally got some food stocked up at my place.

For lunch, I would normally head over to the bistro that Tweek works, and using his employee discount, we would usually eat lunch there during his break.

As for dinner, we would either pick the other up from work, and head to our places to make dinner, or eat out if we’re feeling lazy. Normally, we end up going to my place to have dinner, and we have yet to go to Tweek’s place…until now after I insisted we go to his place for once.

“Nnngg…it’s…it’s a mess…are you sure you don’t want to have dinner at your place…or maybe we can go out to eat if you want,” Tweek said.

“No way, we always eat at my place, and it seems unfair I haven’t once seen what your place looks like,” I said.

“S-still…oh god…I don’t think I removed the tarp…shit,” Tweek said.

We finally arrived at Tweek's apartment, and reached Tweek’s unit, before we went in, Tweek did stop me for a moment, glancing at his door and then back at me.

“Just…just…give me two seconds…I need to…clean up a bit…” Tweek said as he struggled to get his keys out, opened the door, and rushed inside. “D-don’t come in until I say so. So…wait here,” Tweek instructed, and then walked inside, closing the door behind him.

I sighed, and almost wanted to tell Tweek he was being ridiculous…but knowing Tweek, that would be the last thing I say before I get an earful of panic-inducing yelling. So I waited out in the hallway for a bit, hearing some noises inside his apartment, and after a while, the door opened.

“O-okay…you can come in now,” Tweek said.

I sighed, “you really don’t need to worry that much, Tweek. I’ve been to your room in your old house before, remember? So I know how messy you can be,” I said as I walked in.

“I-I still feel self-conscious about it, okay!” Tweek huffed as he closed the door.

Once inside, I could see it was still a mess. There were paint cans on the floor of the living room, various sizes of canvases all stacked against each other on the wall, some of which were blank, while the others seemed like full pieces. There was a crumpled up white tarp in the corner, stained with paint. I’m guessing Tweek pushed that out of the corner since it didn’t seem like it was put away properly.

“Oh god, it looks awful, doesn’t it? Tweek sighed.

“It’s not that bad, Tweek. It’s…charming…” I said as I looked around.

There was no furniture in the living room, probably since I’m assuming Tweek used this space for his painting projects. Even the walls were empty, aside from one large canvas that was placed on the center wall of the living room. It nearly covered the whole wall.

“Woah…is this one of your commissions or something?” The large canvas already had something painted on it. It looked like a gold field of sunflowers, with a blue sky in the back.

“Oh, that…it’s actually for my latest project! I’ve been working on it for the past couple of months…but…I’ve run into some…trouble,” Tweek said.

“Trouble?” I asked. I glanced back at the painting and realized that while the background seemed completed, the center was still kept blank. Almost as if something was supposed to be there.

“Yeah…I’ve been trying to figure out what to paint here…but…been having trouble,” Tweek sighed, “I mean…I thought of a large sunflower..but seemed dull…then I thought of painting an animal…but…I couldn’t think of an animal that would look good in a field of sunflowers…then I tried thinking of a person…but…I’m bad at drawing made up people from my head,” Tweek sighed.

“...Then…why not draw a portrait of a real person?” I asked.

“Huh? A real person…like who?” Tweek asked.

I shrugged, “why not yourself?” I asked.

“Who do I look like, Frida Kahlo?” Tweek frowned, crossing his arms.

“Hey, her paintings were unique and inspiring,” I pointed out.

“I know, but…I don’t know…doesn’t feel…right to me,” Tweek sighed as I stepped towards his painting and placed his hand at the blank area, “...I want this to be…perfect, you know?”

“....I get it,” I said as I walked behind him and placed my hand on his shoulder, “an artist’s work is like their child…you want to put extra care into it…and make sure it comes out right,” I smiled as I glanced at the painting. “...You’ll figure it out, Tweek. I know you can.”

“....Thanks,” Tweek smiled as he looked at me.

Of course…my stomach ended up growling soon after, basically ruining the moment.

I blushed, “sorry,” I said.

Tweek chuckled, “come on, I’ll make something good for tonight,” Tweek said as he headed over to his kitchen, and I walked over to his counter, sitting at one of the stools.

As I looked around, I noticed on his walls that he had pictures of himself when he was younger, and also pictures of him and his family, as well as their family’s coffee shop.

“....You still…keep in touch with your folks?” I asked.

“Hm? Oh…uh…yeah. Of course I do,” Tweek said, “though…we don’t talk much…maybe once or twice a week,” Tweek said, “they’re usually…busy,” Tweek said.

“Hm…have they…ever said anything after you told them you were not taking over the family business?” I asked.

“Oh well…when I initially told them…they were mad..sure…but they eventually got over it once I left home, went to school, and started living on my own. I think they finally realized that I’m my own person now…and…I’m not the anxious little boy who was strangely addicted to coffee,” Tweek sighed.

“Heh…and yet…you still drink coffee to this day,” I said, pointing out the various mugs that were coffee themed he has in the kitchen, as well as the coffeemaker and very large bag of coffee beans.

Tweek blushed, “habits…die hard,” Tweek sighed, “I know I should cut back, but…it’s hard to stop, you know? Kind of like…an addiction…” Tweek said.

I got uneasy, “uh…it’s…it’s not that bad, is it?” I asked, getting concerned.

Tweek looked at me and smiled, “don’t worry…after seeing a therapist for a few years…I can gladly say that my desire to drink coffee has toned down quite a lot. Of course…I have yet to stop drinking coffee altogether, but…it’s a work in progress. I actually had an entire day where I didn’t drink coffee, and I was fine,” Tweek said.

“Really? Why didn’t you drink any that day?” I asked.

“We were swamped with work, short staffed, and a lot of yelling. I guess the best way to overcome a caffeine addiction is work stress and not being able to take a single break,” Tweek sighed.

“That…might not be healthy either, Tweek.”

“Yeah…I know,” Tweek sighed.

I noticed Tweek taking out a large pot, and grabbing a long box from the cabinets. Wondering what he was making, I asked him.

“So…what’s for dinner?” I asked.

“Oh just a simple spaghetti with red sauce,” Tweek said.

“Oh…like the one you made back in high school during that potluck we had for geography class?” I asked.

“The same,” Tweek smiled.

“Oh man, I remember how delicious that was…too bad the teacher gave you a C for that because spaghetti was Italian food and you weren’t Italian,” I said.

“Yeah, which is total bull! I mean…the assignment was to bring food that you would see from different countries! Just because it specified it had to be food from a country or place your family is from doesn’t mean I should have gotten a C! I mean…what food could I make!? My family is white and shit,” Tweek sighed.

“Well…you could probably have brought hot dogs,” I said.

Tweek glared at me, “don’t even get started,” Tweek huffed.

I chuckled, “sorry,” I said, “but hey…at least everyone still liked your spaghetti…oh and if you could be so kind…please add extra red sauce,” I said.

Tweek sighed, “fine…but you know…you could always help me out instead of sitting there,” Tweek said as he started putting water into the pot from the sink.

“Believe me, after years of not being able to taste food normally and have been mostly relying on eating out with people…my cooking skills are dogshit. So unless you want me burning your spaghetti noodles…I should probably stay out of the kitchen,” I said.

“Huh…good point,” Tweek chuckled. He continued placing the pot onto the stove and began heating it up.

Tweek continued to make the spaghetti, and I did help out a little by adding the sauce to the pot once the water was drained out, and helped stir everything while Tweek was busy with a call. After a couple minutes, the food was finally ready.

“Bon appetite,” Tweek said as he placed my plate in front of me.

“Oh man, this smells good,” I said, then immediately started digging in. “Mmm….oh man…this tastes exactly like it did before…maybe even better,” I said.

“Oh come on, I’m sure you had something similar to this before,” Tweek said as he sat down next to me.

“Oh no, none of the past spaghetti I had was this good,” I said after I swallowed my first bite, “hell, this is probably better than any of the spaghetti from a restaurant,” I said.

Tweek laughed, “okay, you are definitely exaggerating now,” Tweek said, “but…I’m glad you’re enjoying it,” Tweek smiled as he began eating his food.

We continued to eat and chat for a while, talking about life, work, and just whatever we could think of. It was…relaxing.

After finishing my second helping, I was stuffed. “Ah…that was good,” I said.

“I’m glad you got your fill. No more worrying about going hungry tonight,” Tweek said as he grabbed my plate and his, and began heading towards the sink.

“Wait, let me do that. The least I can do since you did cook and everything,” I said.

“You sure?” Tweek asked.

“I insist,” I said.

“Heh, what a kind gentleman you are,” Tweek said before walking over to his fridge.

As I was washing the plates, I noticed Tweek grabbing something. To my surprise, he took out a large wine bottle.

“Care for a drink?” Tweek asked.

“Uh..sure…but be warned…I’ve…never touched alcohol before, so I don’t know what my tolerance is,” I said.

Tweek seemed surprised, “really? You’ve never had alcohol?”

I shook my head, “my taste buds were already before I turned twenty-one, so I knew that if I tried to drink, it would just taste awful,” I sighed.

“What about when you’re with someone, like your friends or family?” Tweek asked.

I shrugged, “well with my family, it felt weird to drink with them around…I don’t know, it’s almost like my parents still see me as their young child who shouldn’t be drinking yet,” I sighed, “and I never got drinks with the guys since most of them had to head home later, so obviously they shouldn’t be drinking if they plan on driving home,” I said.

“I see…and during your dates?” Tweek asked.

“Have you seen how much restaurants charge you for one glass of wine? I’m already spending a lot by going on these dates, I ain’t spending more on drinks when water is free,” I sighed.

“I guess you have a point,” Tweek said as he glanced at the wine bottle. He then turned to grab two wine glasses and waved them in his hands, smiling at me, “well then…shall we make today a celebration of your first ever drink?” Tweek said.

I smiled, “by drinking?”

“Yep,” Tweek said as he opened the bottle and poured the wine into the glasses. Tweek placed the bottle down on the counter, and grabbed our drinks, handing me one. “Cheers.”

“Cheers,” I said.

We clinked our glasses. Tweek takes his first sip with ease, while I was a bit more hesitant, taking a small whiff of my drink, swirled it around my glass a bit, and then finally taking a small sip.

“How is it?” Tweek asked, watching me closely.

“It’s…acidic…sort of sweet…” I smacked my lips a bit, “slightly sour,” I said, “...I like it,” I then drank a bit more.

Tweek chuckled, “well what do you know, we might have a wine connoisseur here,” Tweek said before taking another sip of his wine.

We finished our first glass, and Tweek poured us some more. We kept drinking and pouring more and more until eventually I started to feel slightly tipsy.

“Oof…is this what it feels like to be drunk?” I muttered, feeling my head spinning a bit.

“Pretty much…but it seems like you’re not totally drunk right now, so that’s a good thing,” Tweek said, his face completely flushed, “I think we should cut it here.”

“Good idea,” I sighed as I rested my head against the counter, enjoying how nice and cool it felt against my face. “...This was a good night?” I muttered, closing my eyes.

“Heh, I feel like every night is a good night now that you’re eating properly.”

“Mmm…true…but this was…fun. Getting drunk for the first time…eating your spaghetti, a full stomach…and…” I opened my eyes to glance at Tweek, “getting to spend some time with my bestest friend…”

“Oh? I didn’t know Clyde was here,” Tweek chuckled.

I smiled, “Clyde’s great too…I still owe that guy for everything he’s done for me,” I sighed. “If it wasn’t for him and his ideas, like going on a bunch of dates to get a meal…I’d probably either be stuck eating plain and taste crap for the rest of my life…or just dead somewhere…” I grumbled, feeling sleepy.

“...Did you…ever enjoy some of those dates?”

“Hm? Why are you asking?” I asked.

“Just curious…I mean…so far from what I’ve seen…they don’t seem all that..great,” Tweek said.

“Oh…a lot of them weren’t…but…there were still a few I liked and tolerated,” I said.

“Wait..you actually liked some of the dates you’ve been on?” I heard Tweek chuckling.

“Sure…though nothing that made me get my heart pounding or anything like that…they were just…nice experiences,” I muttered.

Tweek chuckled some more, “mind telling me about your nice experiences?” Tweek asked.

“Hm…well…let’s see…oh…I remember going on a date with this punk guy…apparently Bebe had a short thing for punk dudes,” I said, “he was chill…let me listen to some of his favorite bands, even took me to a concert once.”

“Really?”

“Yeah…it was loud…a lot of people pushing too…but…fun,” I said.

“Are you still in contact with that guy?”

“Not really. He moved across the world after two months, and it’s pretty hard to text and stuff when we’re in different timezones,” I said.

“Too bad…seems like he could have been a perfect match for you,” Tweek chuckled.

“Mmm…I don’t think so. He was cool and all, but I’m not big on applying eyeliner,” I said.

“Says the guy who wears makeup on his dates,” Tweek snorted.

“Hey…that was…a necessity,” I said.

“Sure it was,” Tweek chuckled, “any other fun dates you’ve been on?”

“I shrugged, “went out on a date with a marine. Met a guy who was very into magic. Oh…and there was this cute guy who apparently was a model…”

Tweek’s eyes widened, “Jesus…and these were all people Bebe knew?” Tweek asked.

“That girl is very explorative,” I sighed as I raised my head and rested it against the palm of my hand, “still…at least not all the guys she knew were…total pieces of crap. Heh…I actually got into a relationship with two of them,” I said.

I noticed Tweek going still for a moment and glanced at me with wide eyes, “wait…like…you actually were…official with someone?”

“Why are you surprised? With how many people I went out with…one or two of them were bound to be someone I would be official with,” I said.

“I-I didn’t expect you to actually want to be in a relationship with someone,” Tweek said.

“Yeah? Well…you probably didn’t expect me to go on a date in the first place, huh?”

“...Fair point,” Tweek sighed, “...what happened to them? It’s obvious it didn’t last…”

“Mmm…the first guy…didn’t last that long. Maybe stayed together for two months before he lost interest and broke up with through text,” I sighed, glancing at the counter, “the second guy…we almost made it to a year before he…cheated on me.”

Tweek’s eyes widened when I glanced over at him, “Jesus Christ…I’m…I’m sorry that happened to you, Craig…”

“It’s fine,” I sighed, staring blankly at nothing in particular, “honestly…the cheating was the least problematic with that relationship. There were so many red flags before I found out…honestly…I should have left the moment I felt something was off.”

“How…how did you two…even get together?” Tweek asked.

“Mmm…a combination of things. He was a good talker, I was delirious from hunger, and he also happened to be a great cook. Made the best damn burgers I’ve ever had in my life,” I said.

“Of course you’d stay for food,” Tweek sighed.

“Yeah..probably one of the reasons why I kept going on these dates…just for the food..and hey…if I did meet someone I did like…it would be like…an added bonus for me. I wouldn’t have to worry about finding someone to eat with anymore if I had a partner,” I said, “...of course…after that cheating prick…I’ve been more cautious, and more picky with my choices. I might be suffering from a mental disease that’s making food taste unbearable…but…I’m not dealing with people’s bullshit.”

“....Heh…there’s that cynical and levelheaded Craig I know and love,” Tweek chuckled as he gently patted me on the back.

I smiled at him, but then got…curious. “How about you? Been on any dates or gotten into any relationships?” I asked.

“Me? Oh no…no no no no…I was not in the best mindset to even think about being in a relationship,” Tweek said, blushing a bit. “I’d probably throw away any potential dates,” Tweek said.

“That’s too bad, if they know the real you, they’d see the kindest, bad ass, and cutest guy who makes the best spaghetti with red sauce in the whole damn world,” I chuckled.

“Ha ha…come on,” Tweek grinned, blushing even more, “you know…I’ve been wondering…why didn’t you go on dates back in high school? I mean…I get that you said you were never interested, and find the whole dating scene to be…bothersome, but…was there really no one that caught your eye?”

“Tweek…please…even if there were…most likely they were straight,” I sighed, “did you forget how small our town was? A good percentage of people around our age were either straight, female, or homophobic as shit,” I said, “and there weren’t that many good options on those that were gay or at least bi.”

“....Then…what about me?” Tweek asked.

“Huh?” I turned to look at him.

Tweek pouted a bit as he glanced down, “I mean…I came out around the same time as you did…so…was I not a good…option?”

“What? Of course you’re a good option,” I said.

“Then…why have you never asked me out?” Tweek asked.

“Uh…” I flinched, not expecting this conversation to go this way, “w-where is this coming from?” I was wondering if it was the alcohol making him say this.

“You didn’t answer my question,” Tweek frowned, “...was I not…good enough for you?”

“Of course you were!” I exclaimed, slamming my hands on the counter.

Tweek flinched and turned to me with wide eyes. He looked shocked.

I don’t know if it was the alcohol making me say this, but I felt a bit braver, and needed to clear something up here, “you were like…the perfect guy that anyone would date! The only reason…I never asked you out is because…we were…friends…and I…I…” I blushed a bit, “I didn’t want to make things awkward between us.”

“...Why would you think it would be awkward?” Tweek asked.

“Because…I don’t know…we’ve been friends since we were kids…and I didn’t want to ruin our friendship by suddenly asking you out or something, especially since it was obvious you didn’t have feelings for me,” I said.

“....Why…did you think I didn’t have feelings for you?”

I paused, “huh?”

Tweek was blushing as he looked at me, he seemed uneasy and looked like he was struggling to get the words out, “the reason I’ve never asked you out is because…well for starters I thought it would cause people to make fun of us because we happened to be the only two gays in school to be dating, and I didn’t need the stigma,” Tweek sighed, “and the other reason is because you never seemed interested in dating, and…I don’t know…I was worried you’d turn me down.”

“Wait…does this mean…you’ve…had a thing for me back then?” I asked, my eyes widened.

“.....Yeah,” Tweek said, blushing a bit. He quickly turned away, covering his face with his hands, “wait! Hold on! Why did I say that! S-sorry! It’s the alcohol talking! It’s making me say random shit! W-what I mean is…gah!” Tweek was fully panicking there.

“Hey…hey! Tweek,” I got up and moved to the other side so I’d be in front of him. I crouched down and placed my hand on his knee, looking up at him, “don’t do that. Don’t start giving yourself a hard time,” I said.

“I…but…I…”

“Tweek,” I reached out and placed my hand on his cheek, smiling at him softly, “if you want to know…if you had asked me out back then…I would have said ‘yes.’”

Tweek looked shocked as he looked at me. I stared at him, smiling softly.

I never knew how pretty Tweek’s eyes were from this angle.

“...Hey…I have one more question to ask you,” I said.

“W-what is it?” Tweek stuttered, his cheeks turning pink.

“...You said you liked me before…what about now?”

“....”

We stood there, not moving an inch. I swore, I could hear my own heartbeat pounding in my chest, as well as Tweek’s. Tweek stared at me, his face completely red as he gritted his teeth. I noticed his hands were trembling.

Tweek suddenly placed his hands on my cheeks, pulled me slightly closer, and I felt his lips pushing against mine.

“Mmm!” I was surprised by being suddenly kissed, and by Tweek no less, but I didn't fight it. I just closed my eyes and kissed him back, placing my hand over his as our lips molded and twisted against each other.

Not gonna lie, the kiss was sloppy, our teeth kept banging against each other, and we didn’t know which way our heads should go, or if we should have kissed with our mouths slightly open. Definitely showing how inexperienced we are at kissing.

Still…it was…probably the damn best kiss I’ve ever had.

“Pwah!” Tweek pulled away, panting heavily as he looked at me. His face was flushed, and his eyes were half closed.

I just awkwardly kept crouching slightly, looking up at him, also panting a bit. I gulped as I looked down and noticed something between his legs.

Tweek suddenly placed his hands on my cheeks, causing me to look up at him. “...Don’t go home tonight,” Tweek said, practically begging.

“....Wasn’t planning to,” I said as I rested my head on his left knee, smiling up at him.

At that point…can we really blame the alcohol for this?

How would I describe my relationship with Tweek?

Well…he’s been a good friend to me since we were kids, probably one of my best friends.

Honestly, I’ve actually never seen or thought of Tweek as anything more than a friend, not because I didn’t think Tweek was attractive, far from it actually, but more so because…well…we clicked so well as friends, I never even saw any potential of us being more than that.

So…what changed?

Hm…I guess…it probably happened after Tweek stopped reaching out. I don’t know…not being able to talk to him like we used to, not being able to hang out, or see each other…I felt…lonely. Sure, I had my other friends, and they also were sad when Tweek wasn’t around, but…I don’t know…my feelings for it felt more…stronger…sadder…and slightly angry.

I was mad at Tweek for not answering my calls, I was angry I couldn’t figure out where he went off too, or if he was okay. I was angry at him…but also angry at myself.

I knew Tweek didn’t have the best childhood. Parents that seemed absent minded of their son’s feelings, and were more worried about their business, how they got their son practically addicted to coffee…almost as if they were giving him drugs with how reliant he was with coffee, and how Tweek just…seemd anxious over everything…and there was no one that could understand or offer help.

I also didn’t understand most of it because I was too young to really…get it, but..I tried to be there for Tweek. I tried to be the comfort he needed. I tried listening to his ramblings and fears. I tried everything I could to make sure Tweek felt safe and okay.

So the fact he stopped answering my calls and text messages…it felt like a slap in the face. Maybe I didn’t help enough…maybe I made things worse…maybe…maybe…maybe…

So of course…when I saw Tweek again after so long, those feelings I had for him were definitely not the feelings you would feel for a friend…it was something more…something warm, yet painful…and something that kept pulling me towards him, needing him, wanting him.

Obsession? Love? I didn’t know…I didn’t know…and I was…scared. I was far too scared to enact any of it, especially with my current condition. I didn’t want to make things worse between us, and potentially have him leaving me again, so…I kept my distance, I kept acting like a friend, I kept those feelings down, and I kept trying to not rely on him so much.

Of course…Tweek wasn’t having any of it.

“Craig….Craig…wake up…”

“Mmm…five more…minutes,” I groaned as I turned to lay on my back.

I heard a sigh before I felt something cold on my stomach, “a-ah! W-what was that!?” I asked, now fully awake, and sitting up.

“A nice cold glass of orange juice,” Tweek said, holding said glass in his right hand.

I noticed on Tweek’s nightstand was a tray with what appeared to be bacon and eggs. I smiled when I saw how Tweek arranged the bacon and eggs into a smiley face.

“What’s all this?” I asked.

“Breakfast delivery,” Tweek smiled as he placed the orange juice down on the tray and carefully placed it on the empty space of the bed right next to me.

“Oh…breakfast in bed…how romantic,” I smirked.

Tweek rolled his eyes while smiling, he then leaned forward and pressed a kiss on my cheek.

I smiled, “what? No kiss for this side?” I asked, pointing at the other cheek.

“You’re so lame,” Tweek laughed before he leaned back forward and kissed me on the other cheek.

I chuckled as I grabbed the tray and placed it on my lap. However, I noticed I was the only one with food with me. “Hey…aren’t you going to eat?” I asked.

“Sorry, no time,” Tweek said, “I actually got called in for a morning shift right now,” Tweek said.

“Seriously?” I asked.

“Yeah, I know,” Tweek sighed, “and I’m already dealing with a headache from all that drinking last night, so I am not in the best mood to be working.”

“Why don’t you call in sick?” I asked.

“Can’t, they’re short staff right now…and I could use that extra money on something,” Tweek smiled.

I smiled, “like what?” I asked.

“Oh…feeding you…maybe buying you some gifts…I want my handsome guy to be happy,” Tweek chuckled.

“Wow…I always wanted to be a sugar baby,” I grinned, “will daddy buy me some gucci?”

Tweek laughed, “oh god…you’re so cringe,” Tweek said, he then checked the time, “ah shit…I do gotta go soon. You think you can eat quick enough?” Tweek asked, looking worried.

“It’s fine, you can go. Usually after talking to someone like this, I’m able to eat even after they leave. It’s the same when we met again back at that restaurant,” I said.

“Well that’s good…but you sure? I don’t want you to suddenly not be able to eat something after I’m gone,” Tweek said.

I smiled as I grabbed his hand and gently gave it a squeeze, “I’ll be fine. Now go.”

Tweek smiled, “I’ll see you later then.”

Of course,” I said, smiling back at him.

“Enjoy your food!” Tweek said before leaving his bedroom. After a couple of minutes, I could hear the front door opening and closing with a loud bang.

I sighed to myself, still smiling though. I then glanced at my plate, and immediately began eating before my taste buds changed again.

These feelings I’m having right now…they were new and foreign to me, but feels…just right. To think…yesterday Tweek and I were still acting like friends, when in reality we both actually felt something for each other. Honestly…I’m glad Tweek didn’t leave me alone and insisted on helping me…otherwise…I wouldn’t have…have…

Wait…now that I think about it…did we…ever make this official?

“....Ah shit,” I cursed as I realized we never really…discussed it. In fact, after we were tired last night, we just went straight to bed without saying a word about our current relationship.

I mean…I guess it should be obvious we’re together, right? I mean…we literally acted like we’ve been dating for years with that whole happy couple talk, he even kissed me on both cheeks, and served me breakfast in bed, so that must mean we’re…offically dating…right?

Then again…we never had a proper talk…so how do I know this isn’t just a…casual thing?

Ugh..why does stuff like this have to be so…complicated for me?

“....I miss Tweek,” I sighed, already missing seeing his face.

“So I think with the theme of your wedding…and if we use these filters and this style…I think it would really match the aesthetic," I said.

After I finished eating breakfast, I did get a call from a potential client wanting to come to my studio for consultation. I quickly cleaned the plates and made Tweek’s bed before leaving, and rushed back to my place for a change of clothes before I headed to work.

Currently, I was discussing plans with the bridge-to-be on what she wanted the pictures to look like at her wedding. Surprisingly, her partner wasn’t with her, so it was just the bride.

“Oh my gosh…these look great! We definitely have to use these shots for the wedding,” the bridge, named Daisy, said.

“I’m glad you like them,” I said. I then wondered about her partner. “So…you think your partner will like these too? I feel we should also get their opinion on this as well,” I said.

“Oh, I’m sure Mason will love these too…but…would love his input,” Daisy sighed, “sorry, Mason has been busy with work, so he’s been leaving most of the wedding planning to me, but he did say he’ll meet with us later.”

“I see, well that’s not a problem, I still have a few more ideas I’d like to show you if you like,” I said.

“Oh yes, I would love to see what else you got,” Daisy said, but then her stomach started growling. Daisy blushed out of embarrassment and started laughing awkwardly, “I’m so sorry, I’ve been so busy planning things that I totally forgot to eat this morning.”

“Well that’s not good. I understand brides normally try to lose weight before their wedding, but you should still eat something, trust me…it’s good for your health,” I said.

“I know, but I have other things planned later today, and I really wanted to get this consultation done today so I have one less thing to worry about,” Daisy explained.

“....Tell you what, how about…we go out and grab an early lunch together. We can even invite your fiancé since you said he’d be coming later,” I said.

“Oh, that would be lovely, thank you,” Daisy said as she grabbed her purse and got up from her seat.

I began grabbing all the documents and sample pictures from the table, and started packing them into my bag. “So, anything you feel like eating today?”

“Oh, I can’t decide..why don’t you pick since you’re helping us and everything,” Daisy smiled.

“....Well…I know one good place we can stop by,” I said, smiling a bit.

Guess this would be the perfect opportunity to see Tweek early.

So Daisy and I got into my car and headed towards the bistro where Tweek works. Once we made it, I saw Daisy playing on her phone.

“Is something the matter?” I asked, noticing the huge smile on her face.

“Oh, it’s just my fiancé will be coming soon, I let him know where we are,” Daisy explained.

“Perfect, can’t wait to meet him,” I smiled politely.

We walked inside, and the hostess showed us to our table. As we were walking in, I did see Tweek working hard serving customers. He noticed me, flashed a grin, but paused when he noticed Daisy.

I waved at him and just mouthed to him that I was with a client. He understood and nodded, then went back to serving the other customers.

“Wow, this place sure is nice. Very cozy,” Daisy said.

“Have you been to places like this?” I asked as I took off my jacket and placed it behind my chair before sitting down.

“Ocassionally, but Mason and I normally go to fancier places with the expensive lobster and champagne,” Daisy chuckled.

“Wow…you two must be well-off,” I commented, raising my eyebrows in surprise.

“More or less. My family is on the wealthier side, so I guess we do have a lot of extra income,” Daisy giggled, “but Mason just got a promotion recently, and has been using his money to spoil me. He’s so sweet.”

“I…see” I said, smiling awkwardly, “well congrats to you both, I hope you two will have a happy future together,” I said.

“Thank you,” Daisy smiled.

“Good afternoon, my name is Tweek, I’ll be your server today,” Tweek soon appeared, smiling at the both of us, but I noticed him glancing at me mostly, “I’ve got your menus here, so while you both are choosing what you would like to order…would like to get any drinks?” Tweek asked as he took out his notepad.

“Just water for us, and maybe a third one as well since we’re waiting for another person,” I said.

“Of course,” Tweek smiled, “I’ll go ahead and grab your drinks,” Tweek said. As he left, I felt his brush against mine, and I couldn’t help but smile.

As we were choosing what to order, I noticed Daisy looking up when we heard the door of the bistro opening, she smiled as she waved her hand.

“Mason!” Daisy said.

Realizing her fiancé had arrived, I turned around, ready to greet him. But I froze when I saw who it was.

…You have to be kidding me…

There was the face of the man I didn’t want to see ever again. The man who was a total dick to me for nearly a year…and the man who somehow won me over with some good burgers….

Daisy’s fiancé was my cheating ex, Mason.

“Hey sweethearts!” Mason laughed as he extended his arms out. Daisy got up from her seat and ran towards him, hugging him tightly, then kissing him on the cheek.

“I’m glad you made it, we were just about to order,” Daisy said.

“Oh good, I was worried I was going to be late. There was a bit of traffic getting here,” Mason sighed.

“Oh, well it’s alright now, darling! Now come sit, I want to introduce you to our photographer.”

“Ah, yes, it’s very nice to…” The moment Mason and I made eye contact, he froze for a moment, “...meet you.”

I cursed in the back of my head. I was hoping he had forgotten about me, but I guess not. Great…

Trying to be professional for Daisy’s sake, I got up and extended my hand for a handshake, “it’s nice to meet you, I’m Craig Tucker. I’ll be the photographer for your wedding,” I said, forcing a smile.

“...Yes…thank you, it’s nice to meet you,” Mason said. I could feel him eyeing me up and down.

I kept a straight face, and tried my best to not show a hint of emotion or indicator that I know him, and if this asshole was smart, he would also pretend he doesn’t know me.

We all sat down and got to it. I began taking out my folder with my picture samples and concept ideas, and began to review everything with them.

“So since your wedding is in spring, and you chose a more peach color, I figured we can go with the light and airy style,” I said, then showed them an example from one of my sample pictures.

“It would look beautiful. What do you think, darling?” Daisy asked.

“Yeah, it goes well with the colors…but you think you can go more natural with the close ups? I want the pictures to reflect my future wife’s true beauty,” Mason said, smiling at Daisy.

“Oh, Mason!” Daisy squealed as she nuzzled against Mason’s shoulder, grinning happily.

Oh barf…

I kept a straight face, and continued to act professional, “I can make that work, I will need to still tweak the photos a bit since this is an outdoor wedding, and the natural light might make the pictures come out a bit too bright,” I said.

“Oh, I’m sure you can make it work. You seem like a very…skilled photographer,” Mason said.

I frowned slightly, clenching the table cloth. I’m trying my best to not flip this guy off and curse him out.

Remember Craig, you have to be a professional. If you ruin this, then your reputation as a photographer will take a major hit.

I took a deep breath and smiled, “thank you very much, I’ll do my best to make your photos look perfect,” I said.

Daisy smiled, and Mason just stared at me…smirking.

“Hi! So sorry for the wait, I finally have your waters,” Tweek came back with our drinks, and began placing them down. Once we had our drinks, Tweek took his notepad out, ready to take our order, “so, are you all ready to order?” Tweek asked.

“Oh yes, I’ll just get the smoked salmon, please,” Daisy said.

“I’ll have the chicken sandwich,” Mason said.

“Very good,” Tweek said as he began writing it down, “and for you?” Tweek asked, looking at me.

“Oh…uh…” I was so distracted by Mason being here, I didn’t really get a good look at the menu. I quickly scanned it and just picked whatever, “I’ll just have the classic burger,” I said.

Tweek nodded, “very good,” Tweek said as he began writing it down.

“Oh…you like burgers, Mr. Tucker?” Mason asked, smiling to himself.

I frowned, confused why he was asking, “uh…yeah I guess,” I said.

“Ah, sorry, I was only asking because I like burgers too, in fact…I’m known for making some tasty burgers at home,” Mason said.

“Oh yeah, Mason is an amazing cook. Honestly, if he wasn’t working in sales, he could be a professional chef,” Daisy giggled.

“Oh darling, that’s so flattering of you,” Mason said, kissing Daisy on the cheek.

Daisy smiled before looking back at me, “Mason’s food is to die for, especially his burgers! I wish you could try some!” Daisy said.

“Well, I was planning on making my famous burgers during the reception, I’m sure I can make one for you, Mr. Tucker.”

I frowned, nearly glaring at him, but making sure Daisy didn’t notice, “oh, no. No need to go out of your way to make a burger for me. I’ll be fine,” I said.

“Oh, but you’ll be walking around and taking photos for the wedding and the reception. I’m sure you’ll get tired and hungry after all that, so we insist you try out some of my burgers,” Mason said, smiling.

“Oh, isn’t my darling so generous?” Daisy smiled.

“...Yeah…he is,” I sighed, forcing a smile and going back to being professional, “thank you for the offer…I look forward to trying out your…burgers,” I said, gritting through my teeth.

Mason kept smiling like a fucking piece of shit. Oh I wish I could just kick him underneath the table right about now.

“...Um…so uh…just to confirm, one order of the smoked salmon, the chicken sandwich, and a classic burger, correct?” Tweek said awkwardly.

Shit, I forgot Tweek was still standing there. I hope he didn’t notice how uncomfortable I was being.

I cleared my throat, “yes, that’s correct,” I said, forcing a smile.

“...Alrighty then. Anything else?” Tweek asked.

“Oh no, that’ll be all, thank you,” Daisy said.

“Got it, I’ll get that all ready for you soon,” Tweek said, smiling politely. He glanced at me for a few seconds before turning to leave.

I sighed, feeling a bit worried. Hopefully Tweek didn’t notice how awkward I was being thanks to this prick.

Just gotta keep busy with work, and it’ll all be over soon.

“So now that we have the style and theme for the pictures, shall we discuss how many photos you want, and the ideal locations you’d like most of the photos to be taken?” I asked.

“Oh yes,” Daisy nodded, “for the main locations, I do want a few of us standing at the altar, and maybe a few of us when I’m walking down the aisle. I also want a group photo with both sides of our family, and a separate one with our friends…”

We continued to discuss the logistics, pricing, and number of photos for the wedding, and while Daisy was doing most of the talking, Mason remained quiet. I had a feeling Mason wasn’t interested in wedding planning since he’s not even adding his own contributions here, but whatever, it’s fine. As long as I have an idea on what they want, then it’ll be fine.

Still…kind of wish Mason would stop staring at me while his fiancée was literally talking to me about their wedding.

“Hi, your food is here,” Tweek soon came back with our food.

“Oh, since the food is here, should we continue discussing a bit while we eat?” I asked, as I began putting everything away.

“Oh that’s fine, I think we got everything we needed, right dear?” Daisy asked, glancing at Mason.

“I agree. So I think we should take a break and discuss payment and everything else after we eat,” Mason smiled.

“....Sure, that’s fine,” I said, feeling a bit uneasy. I was hoping we could just continue talking about the photos so that way I could avoid talking about anything with Mason, but guess that’s thrown out of the window.

Tweek began placing our food down, and kept glancing at me. He gave me a worried look as he glanced between me and both Daisy and Mason. I just subtly mouthed I was okay, and that he shouldn’t worry. Tweek just hesitantly nodded.

“Alright you three, hope you enjoy your meals, and if you need anything else, don’t hesitate to call for me,” Tweek said before he turned, glanced at me, and then left.

I glanced at my food, and for the first time, I didn’t feel like eating, despite having two people with me right now. I just grabbed my utensils and started cutting my burger into smaller pieces, and began to talk to Daisy, making small talk.

“So…are you excited for your wedding?” I asked.

“Oh we are,” Daisy smiled, glancing at Mason, “we’ve been together for two years now, and I knew the moment we met…we were meant for each other,” Daisy said.

“That’s right,” Mason said, kissing Daisy on the cheek, but I noticed how he glanced at me while he did that.

I cleared my throat, trying not to sound awkward, “so uh…how did you two meet?” I asked, a bit curious on how someone like Mason managed to find a nice girl like Daisy.

“Oh, it was fate,” Daisy said, gushing a bit. “I just got out of a long-term relationship, so I was feeling lonely. I then went to a club with some of my friends…and that’s where I met Mason,” Daisy explained, “it felt like the whole world stopped the moment we saw each other. Since that night….we’ve been inseparable.”

“I…see,” I said, curious on how true any of that was. Knowing Mason, he most likely just saw Daisy, thought she was hot, and flirted with her a bunch while telling her some random bullshit story.

“We were definitely destined to be with each other as apparently, Mason got out of his relationship as well. Apparently, his ex was cheating on him…my poor baby,” Daisy said.

I stabbed my fork into my burger. I could feel my eyes twitching from that sentence.

Oh that motherfucker…

“I see…getting cheated on is such a terrible feeling,” I said, glaring at my plate before glancing up, staring directly at Mason.

“Oh, have you been cheated on before, Mr. Tucker?”

“Yes…by someone I thought was a nice guy, but was nothing but an insensitive jerk who likes playing with people’s feelings,” I said, getting pissed off.

“Oh my god, I’m so sorry that happened to you, Mr. Tucker,” Daisy said, “I’m glad I was never cheated on, and my last breakup was amicable, but…oh…if I was cheated on…I would have tore that cheater a new one,” Daisy huffed. She then smiled, “but I know my Mason here would never cheat on me.”

Mason laughed awkwardly, “of course, dear.”

I grabbed my water and took a sip, “I doubt that,” I muttered under my breath.

“What was that?” Daisy asked.

I cleared my throat and nearly spilled my water, “n-nothing, just thought it’s a good thing you’ve never been cheated on…and will…never experience the pain of being cheated on,” I said, glancing at Mason, my voice dripping in venom.

“Ah…yes. I’m so glad I’ll never experience something so…horrible, and I’m just looking forward to spending my entire life with my perfect man,” Daisy said.

Daisy got excited and started hugging Mason happily, but accidentally spilled her water when she extended her arm out.

“Whoops! I’m such a klutz!” Daisy said as she quickly caught the cup, and saw the water had spilled over her blouse and skirt. “Oh darn it,” Daisy sighed as she got up, “I’m going to go to the restroom for a moment. Excuse me,” Daisy said as she left.

“....”

“....”

Well…shit.

I just let out a frustrated sigh as I leaned back in my seat, trying not to look at Mason.

“....Your food will get cold,” Mason said calmly while holding his sandwich.

I glared at him, “don’t you even start with me,” I said coldly.

I sighed as I gently pushed my plate away, losing my appetite, and rested my head on the palm of my hand.

“What the actual fuck is going on here?”

Mason smiled, “is that anyway to talk to a client?”

“Cut the crap and answer me,” I huffed, “what are you even doing, Mason? Last I remembered, you were against marriage, even when we briefly talked about it, you told me verbatim that you would never ever marry in your life, and I just accepted it because I didn’t care either way,” I said, “so why the fuck are you suddenly getting married all of a sudden?”

“Would you believe me if I said that I was in love?”

“No,” I bluntly said, staring at him blankly.

“Harsh…but…I guess that was a long shot,” Mason sighed as he placed his sandwich down and wiped his hands with his napkin. “If you must know…I’m doing this because of Daisy’s dad.”

“Her dad?” I asked.

“Yeah, apparently, he’s the CEO of the company I worked for. In fact…I only got my current job because Daisy put in a good work with her dad,” Mason explained, “so obviously…to keep daddy dearest happy, I’m marrying his beloved daughter. There…that explains everything?”

“Oh my god,” I groaned as I tilted my head back, getting more annoyed, “so let me get this straight…you met Daisy by chance, went out with her because you wanted have a good time, heard about her wealthy family, and her dad being the CEO, got a job at her dad’s business, and now you’re only with Daisy just so you can get far in your career, am I right?”

“Bingo. You were always so smart if I recall,” Mason said.

“Shut the fuck up,” I groaned, “I should tell Daisy everything and prevent this marriage from happening,” I said.

“Oh…you should…but you know you can’t,” Mason smirked.

I frowned. As much as I wanted to tell him to fuck himself…he was right. Daisy seems like the type to trust someone like Mason instead of me, mostly because she’s been with Mason for nearly two years, and only knew me for a couple of hours. So even if I tried to tell her everything, she probably wouldn’t believe me, she was too head over heels in love with this prick. If anything, trying to tell her would probably ruin my career.

I feel so frustrated, “ugh…I hate that you’re right,” I sighed as I leaned back in my seat, crossing my arm, “....I’ll tell Daisy that I can’t do this job,” I said.

“Oh come on, Craig…you don’t have to quit, especially after you already showed us everything Daisy wanted,” Mason said.

“First of all, you are to address me as Mr. Tucker, and second…why would I lose my sanity by working closely along with someone like you? I’d rather take the loss than having to deal with your bullshit.”

“Come on, Craig. You’ll only hurt Daisy’s feelings on this…do you really want to do that?”

I frowned, “don’t patronize me,” I sighed, hoping Daisy will come back soon, “...you really haven’t changed…have you?”

“Oh but I did, Craig. I changed quite a lot over the years.”

“Bullshit,” I said, as I glared at him, “I can tell you’re still that egotistic jerk who tramples people’s feelings for his own benefit, and I hope that one day that sweet girl you managed to manipulate to marry you will wake up and find out how much of a prick you are,” I said.

“Ha ha ha…you always did know me best..huh, Craig?” Mason suddenly reached out and placed his hand on top of mine.

I flinched and quickly retracted my hand away, “what the actual fuck are you doing? Are you insane?”

“It’s not my fault…the moment I saw you again after all this time…I couldn’t help but wonder if…this was fate,” Mason smiled.

“Ugh,” I rolled my eyes and turned away from him.

“Oh come on, hear me out,” Mason said.

“Not if you’re spouting bullshit,” I huffed.

“Oh come on, Craig…you can’t tell me you didn’t miss me after all this time,” Mason said.

“I didn’t,” I said, “I moved on, and I was hoping you did too, but I see you’re still being a total jerk, especially towards your own fiancée,” I said.

Mason sighed, “Daisy is a sweet girl, that I’ll admit, and she was fun…for a while, but she can be a bit too…much for me. So clingy…always wanting to act all lovey dovey with each other…and she just…doesn’t excite me anymore,” Mason said, “...but you…you were always fun…and I really did regret what I did to you.”

“Oh my god!” I groaned as I placed my hand over my face. I feel like I’m going crazy, “don’t give me some bullshit excuse. You didn’t regret anything, in fact, if you were really sorry, you would have at least tried to apologize after I left, but you didn’t. In fact…if I recall..you moved in with that guy you cheated on me with,” I said.

“Well…yes…I could have tried harder to apologize, but…you were angry…and you did block my number,” Mason said.

“Of course I was angry. You…cheated on me,” I said through gritted teeth, “and right now…I’m not going to let you hurt Daisy by thinking you can cheat on her with me,” I said, “I have higher standards than that.”

“Come on, Craig…don’t you miss us? The fun we used to have? The sparks we felt back then?” Mason said, smiling at me.

“There is no longer an us, there will never be an us again, and the us you’re thinking about is long dead and buried underground where the sun don’t shine. So yeah…whatever you’re thinking, drop it now…otherwise…I will tell Daisy everything,” I said.

“Go ahead…but you’ll just hurt her,” Mason said.

“You piece of-”

“Hi! I’m back!” Daisy suddenly came back, smiling. “Did I miss anything?”

“Oh no, nothing dear. We were just discussing a bit more about the wedding,” Mason said, smiling at her.

“Oh really? What were you two discussing about?” Daisy asked as she sat down.

“Oh nothing too exciting…though…seems like Mr. Tucker here has something he would like to discuss with you about,” Mason said, glancing at me, “isn’t that right?”

I flinched, realizing he was putting me on the spot here.

“Oh, what did you want to tell me, Mr. Tucker?” Daisy asked, smiling at me.

“....I…I…” God…I’m such a pussy. I wanted to tell Daisy that I wasn’t going through with it, but I couldn’t, not when she’s looking at me all innocently. She looked so happy, and I didn’t want to upset her. “....I…thought…since you are such a nice and happy couple…I would offer you both a discount on the pictures. Twenty percent off,” I said.

“Oh wow! Thank you so much! That’s so sweet of you!” Daisy grinned, “isn’t that nice of him, Mason?”

“Yes…very nice,” Mason smiled.

I flinched when I felt his foot touching my leg. I felt sick.

“....Excuse me…I’m going to use the restroom,” I said as I got up and left the table. I glanced back and saw Daisy all over Mason, and Mason still had his eyes on me. “...Shit…”

I headed towards the restroom and headed for the sink. I hunched over, resting my hands on the edges of the sink, staring at myself in the mirror.

“Come on, Tucker…be a fucking man and just rip the bandage off…just tell her you can’t do the job…and save your own sanity. There is no way I’m working alongside that…that…prick,” I grumbled. I sighed as I turned on the cold water, and splashed my face. I then looked at myself once again, water dripping down from my chin. “....This is so…fucking…frustrating.”

“What’s frustrating?”

“Shit!” I turned around, and to my relief, it was Tweek. “Oh thank god, it’s you. I was worried that that jerk followed me in here,” I sighed in relief.

“That jerk? You mean…the guy who was sitting with you and that lady?” Tweek asked as he walked over. He grabbed a few paper towels from the dispenser and started wiping the water off of my face. “Did…something happen?”

“....Mmm…if I tell you…you’d probably get mad,” I said as I turned off the water.

Tweek raised an eyebrow, “why would I be mad?” Tweek asked as he stopped wiping my face.

“....” I sighed, knowing I should tell Tweek, “remember how I told you I used to date someone, and they cheated on me?”

Tweek’s eyes widened, “no…”

“Yep.”

“You mean…”

“Uh huh…”

“...That…that motherfucker!” Tweek exclaimed, “did he try anything with you? What is he doing here? What did he say?”

I sighed, “apparently, he’s the fiancé of my client, so technically also my client, and he hasn’t tried anything…sort of…but he was saying some bullshit to me,” I sighed, “honestly…right now, I’m thinking of dropping the job. I cannot work with that man, especially knowing he’s been lying to that sweet woman,” I said.

“I’m sorry, Craig. I wish you didn’t have to go through that,” Tweek said as he placed his hand on my cheek.

I smiled at him, “heh…thanks Tweek, but I’ll be alright. I’ve dealt with terrible clients before, so….this isn’t anything different. The sad thing is…I know the fiancée is going to be sad I’m pulling out. She’ll think I’m dropping the job for no reason.”

“Why don’t you just tell her the truth then?” Tweek asked.

“Tweek…you honestly think a woman that is in love with her fiancé is going to believe me if I told her that her fiancée and I used to date?”

“....I guess not…but she should still know…and know not to marry a jerk like him,” Tweek said.

I sighed, “I know, but there’s really nothing I can do. It’s her relationship. We can only hope that she realized the truth about the man she’s marrying later on, but until then…I can’t get involved in this,” I said.

Tweek nodded and hugged me, “alright, you do what’s best for you, and hey…I’ll be here if you need me.”

“...Thanks,” I said, hugging him back.

Tweek pulled away before smiling, “how about…a kiss for courage?”

“Pfff…really?” I chuckled.

“Come on…it could help…and…I’ve been wanting to kiss you the moment I saw you coming in,” Tweek said.

“Wow…how perverse. I should tell management that one of their servers is being inappropriate with one of their customers,” I teased.

Tweek chuckled as he wrapped his arms around my shoulders, “go ahead…management loves me too much to ever fire me,” Tweek smirked.

I chuckled before placing my hands on his waist and hip, and pulled him close for a kiss.

We kissed for what felt like hours, but realistically, it was probably under a minute. When we pulled away, Tweek’s cheeks were pink before he kissed me on the cheek, chin, nose, and forehead.

“That tickles,” I said, smiling a bit. I then remembered my concerns from this morning, regarding my relationship with Tweek. “Hey…um…after I’m done giving the bad news to those two…can we…talk later?”

“Sure…what do you want to talk about?” Tweek asked.

“Oh…I just…wanted to talk about…us,” I said.

Tweek’s eyes widened and he let go of me, “...us?”

“N-nothing bad, I just…I wanted to confirm a few things, that’s all,” I said, smiling at him.

“...Alright, sure. We can talk later then,” Tweek said, smiling at me.

“Good,” I said. I then leaned forward and kissed him on the cheek, then I pulled away. “Welp…back to it.”

“Good luck,” Tweek said.

We both left the restroom, and I headed back to my table, while Tweek went back to work. Once I was back at my table, I saw Daisy giggling at something Mason was saying, and Mason just cooly smiling at her.

The sight made me sick.

“Oh! Craig, welcome back! Mason here was just telling me a funny story, you should hear it,” Daisy said, laughing.

“Oh, that’s alright…I…actually have something important to tell you,” I said.

“Oh, but you should hear it! It’s so funny! It’s about Mason’s cheating ex!”

I froze, “cheating…ex?” I was confused. Mason doesn’t seem like the type to get cheated on, so what did he mean by cheating ex?

“Oh yes, it was a while ago, but I still remember it like it was yesterday. My ex was a terrible person. He was smart, sweet…a bit blunt at times, but honest…at least I thought he was,” Mason said, “apparently, that guy was a total manipulator. He would sweet talk me and make me believe what I thought I saw wasn’t true…”

…Wait…this sounds…familiar. Is he…talking about me? Wait…he’s switching the roles here, isn’t he?

“My ex…really made me believe he was a good man, but when I caught him cheating…my view of him changed completely,” Mason said.

“Aw…honey,” Daisy patted Mason’s arm, trying to comfort him.

“After I caught him cheating, I kicked him out of my apartment since it was under my name and he was supposed to move in with me, blocked his number, and moved on…of course my ex made it difficult by trying to talk to me, crying his eyes out, and desperately begging me to take him back,” Mason said.

I frowned. He was changing the story completely. I kicked him out of my apartment, and I was the one who blocked him. Sure, I did cry a little, but not to the extent he was talking about, and I never begged him to come back. This piece of shit was trying to make me look like I’m the sad and desperate cheating ex in front of his fiancée!

Mason glanced at me and smiled, and I got a bad feeling about this, “but you know what’s even more pathetic about my ex? I think the reason he only wanted me back was because he…he wanted to eat more of my burgers.”

My eyes widened, “what? Burgers?”

“Oh yes, apparently, Mason said that his ex loved his burgers, so much so that he practically begged Mason to make them every night,” Daisy said.

“Yeah…my ex had a weird…thing with food. He always asked me to eat with him, and never seemed to like the idea of eating alone, even if I’m away for a few minutes. One time…I made him a burger, and told him to go ahead and eat it while I head out to the postal office. When I came back, he hadn’t even touched it, saying how he wanted to eat it with me. It was…disturbing.”

I clenched my fist as I remembered that. This was before I realized I could just eat my food even after someone leaves shortly after. I was so worried the food would taste bad that I ended up waiting for Mason to come back, even if it meant the burger ended up cold. I remembered Mason being confused, but just smiled away, saying it was alright, and that he’d promise to eat with me from now on.

I can’t believe he’s using that against me.

“What was wrong with him? Why didn’t he just eat the burger alone?”

“Not sure…he’s been like that for as long as we dated. He hated the idea of being alone when it came to food, and yet…was fine with anything else. Maybe he had some weird kink of having people watch him eat,” Mason said.

“You sure it wasn’t like some sort of…eating disorder?” Daisy asked.

“Not sure…maybe. Even still, he never mentioned it, even when I brought it up. He was always full of secrets,” Mason smirked.

“....” I looked down, feeling my heart beating fast. What is he planning?

“...But you know…I got curious one day. I know I shouldn’t have done it, but I was worried, so I snooped into his phone when he was asleep.”

What?

I looked up at him, my eyes widened.

Mason smirked, “I saw messages between him and a close friend of his…and after I looked through them…I realized…he has a food problem.”

“Huh? What do you mean?” Daisy asked.

“Apparently, the guy is unable to eat anything unless he’s with someone, and says food tastes bad to him when he’s alone. I don’t know the cause or reason for it, but it was so strange. I thought of ending things with him because I didn’t know if I was comfortable with that pressure…I mean…who would? But…I loved him so much that…I figured I’d stay by his side and make sure he eats a proper meal,” Mason said.

I was trembling in anger. So he knew…he fucking knew…he snooped into my phone when I wasn’t looking, saw my messages with Clyde, and…now he’s using it against me…to humiliate me….

That fucking prick!

“Still…despite showing how much I loved him…he still cheated on me. I guess despite being reliant on me so he could eat doesn’t change the fact he is a no good…cheating…little…whore,” Mason smirked.

That’s it.

“You self-centered piece of-”

Before I could walk over towards him and give him a piece of my mine, Tweek suddenly walked over towards him and dumped a pitcher of water over his head.

“You self-centered piece of shit!” Tweek shouted once all the water from the pitcher spilled all over him.

“What the hell!?” Mason shouted.

“What are you doing!?” Daisy exclaimed as she pulled Mason closer to her, “what is your problem!?”

“My problem is how your fiancé is lying through his teeth!” Tweek shouted.

“L-lying!? How dare you! I should talk to your manager and have you fired!” Daisy shouted.

“Go ahead, but before you do, you should realize how much of a lying piece of shit your fiancé really is!” Tweek said before glancing at me.

What is he doing?

“Your fiancé lied in that story, he wasn’t being cheated on…he was the one doing the cheating!” Tweek shouted.

“What!?” Daisy exclaimed, she got angry, “and how would you know that!?”

“Because…I’m the ex he was talking about!” Tweek said.

“What!?” We all exclaimed, even me.

Tweek looked at me before turning back to the couple. “Yep! I’m the so-called cheating ex, except I never cheated on anyone! And I can’t believe you would lie like that, you insensitive jerk!”

“M-Mason, is this true?” Daisy looked confused and stared at Mason.

“O-of course not! I’ve never met this guy before!”

“Oh of course you’ll keep lying!” Tweek said, faking tears, “all those nights we spent together, how we would say ‘I love you’ to each other, and how we always gave each other pet names…wasted! To think I ever fell for a jerk like you!” Tweek said, doing well to look like he’s crying.

“Mason…he seems like he’s genuinely upset…” Daisy looked devastated, “is he…telling the truth?”

“Of course he’s not!” Mason exclaimed, getting heated, “I’m telling you, I never met him before! I never cheated on him!” Mason said.

“Then why does it seem like he’s really upset?” Daisy asked.

“He’s just acting or something! Daisy, dear…believe me…I’ve never cheated on this man before in my life!”

“Oh you…bastard! Still rubbing salt in the wounds!” Tweek wailed, covering his face.

“Mason…he seems really upset…I…I don’t know what to believe here,” Daisy said, looking confused.

“Oh for fucks sake, Daisy! We’ve been together for two years, do you really think I would ever go out with someone like him in the first place?” Mason asked.

“I…I don’t know…this is all confusing…” Daisy said, clutching her head.

“For the last time! I’ve never met this man, and I’ve never dated him, and I especially never cheated on him!” Mason exclaimed.

“And how am I supposed to believe you?” Daisy said, crying now.

“Because the person I actually cheated on is him!” Mason shouted, pointing at me.

We all froze.

“....Wait…no..I meant…” Mason stuttered, realizing his mistake. “...Shit.”

“....You?” Daisy said, looking at me.

“.....” I glanced at her, glanced at Mason, and glanced at Tweek. I sighed, “yeah…it’s true.”

“...You’re…the cheating ex?” Daisy asked.

“No…no…I never cheated…he’s the one who cheated,” I said, pointing at Mason.

“But…I…I don’t understand…why didn’t you say anything?”

“....Would you have believed me? You were already believing his lies just now,” I said.

“I…I’m so confused…so you’re the ex…then who are you?” Daisy asked, looking at Tweek.

“Uh…just someone helping out a friend,” Tweek said, smiling at me.

“....Oh my god…for you two to go this far…that must mean…it’s true…” Daisy said as she glanced at Mason.

“...Oh…oh come on, Daisy…are you really going to believe them?” Mason said, grabbing Daisy’s shoulders. “Come on…they’re lying. I’m your fiancé for crying out loud!”

“I don’t even know who you are anymore,” Daisy said, tears falling from her eyes. “Oh god…I…need to think this over,” Daisy said as she walked past Mason and began to leave. “...And Mr. Tucker…I don’t think we’ll go ahead with your services,” Daisy said, tears falling from her eyes.

“I understand,” I said, “and…I’m sorry.”

“.....” Daisy sniffled and then proceeded to leave.

“Daisy! Daisy!” Mason tried to run after her, but I blocked him. “You…you…” Mason was getting angry, and for a second I thought he was going to hit me, but Tweek quickly grabbed his hand.

“I wouldn’t do that…we have cameras here, so if you hit him…you’ll regret it,” Tweek said, gritting his teeth.

“...Argh!” Mason pulled his arm away, “you ruined everything!” Mason shouted.

“You only have yourself to blame for lying to her like that,” I said, glaring at him.

“Exactly,” Tweek said, “you deserve whatever happens next,” Tweek said, crossing his arms.

“....Argh…I’ll…I’ll let management know about this, and make sure you get fired,” Mason said, glaring at Tweek.

“You asshole…” I tried to step forward, but Tweek stopped me.

“It’s okay…let him…I don’t care,” Tweek said.

“...You’ll regret this,” Mason said, he then glanced at me, “and you…just because you found someone who is dumb enough to deal with you doesn’t mean they’ll stick around for long. You’re nothing but a fucked up freak who’ll only be a burden to everyone.”

“....” I didn’t say anything, I just silently glared at him.

“You can go shove your opinions up your ass, now get the fuck out of here,” Tweek said.

“...Tch,” Mason turned and finally left.

“.....” I looked down, suddenly feeling…not that great. “...You okay?” I asked Tweek.

“I’m fine. I’ve dealt with much tougher customers than him,” Tweek smiled. He then looked at me, “...are you okay?”

“....I-”

“Tweek!” We both flinched when we heard someone yelling for Tweek. When we turned around, Tweek paled when he saw who it was.

“Crap…it’s my boss,” Tweek said.

“Shit…you think you’re getting in trouble?” I asked.

“Um…well…I mean…it’s not ideal that I poured a pitcher of water on someone and basically started drama…so…probably,” Tweek said.

“Tweek! My office! Now!” The boss exclaimed, “and tell your friend to pay up and get out of here, or else I’m calling the cops!”

“D-don’t worry, he’s leaving! No need to call the cops!” Tweek panicked. “You should get out of here. I’ll meet with you at your place,” Tweek said.

“But…can I help?” I asked.

“Um…I don’t think there’s much you can do right now,” Tweek said, glancing at his very angry boss. “I’ll be okay. I’ll see you later,” Tweek said, smiling at me.

“Tweek! Now!” The boss shouted.

“Coming!” Tweek exclaimed, “...go,” Tweek said to me.

“....” I sighed as I began to leave.

I glanced back once I reached the door and saw Tweek following his boss to his office. I bit the inside of my cheek, feeling worried. However, there wasn’t anything I could do to help.

If anything…I’d probably make things worse.

“.....” I left the bistro and headed back to my car. Once I sat inside, I just sat there, feeling this overwhelming guilt in my chest. “.....Fuck!” I shouted as I slammed my fist against the steering wheel. I was breathing heavily before I placed my hands over my face, feeling god fucking awful.

What…have I done?

While most would say I’m anti-social or just generally am not interested in people…the truth is…the reason I’ve never stayed too close to people is because…I hate the idea of being a burden to people.

Maybe that’s why Mason said that to me before. I remember telling him my worries when I initially thought we were serious. God…do I regret telling him that.

Honestly…I regret everything about that relationship. If I knew what I knew now and could relay it to my past self…maybe I wouldn’t have been that upset about the break up…or developed this fear of being too reliant on others.

And now…my fears are coming true…I’ve become too reliant on Tweek..and he’s probably getting into trouble because of me.

…I really am just a burden to people.

“Craig, I’m here!” I heard Tweek knocking on my door. Guess he was finally finished with his talk with the boss.

I walked over towards the door and opened it. I saw Tweek standing there with a smile.

“I got you something,” Tweek said as he held up a wine bottle, “got this from work…figured…we could celebrate,” Tweek said.

“Celebrate…what?” I asked.

“Oh you know…telling your ex off and potentially ruining his relationship with his fiancée…not that he didn’t deserve it,” Tweek chuckled, “at least we managed to save one lady’s sad future with that cheating bastard.”

“.....Tweek…what happened?” I got straight to the point.

“Hm? What do you mean?” Tweek asked, obviously acting coy.

“Tweek…I’m not playing…what happened with your boss?”

“Nothing…nothing happened,” Tweek said, looking away.

“Don’t lie,” I said, “you know I know when you’re lying or trying to hide something,” I said.

“.....” Tweek sighed as he placed the wine bottle on my counter, “...I got fired.”

My eyes widened, “shit…Tweek…I’m so sorry,” I said.

“Hey, it’s not your fault. I’m the one who decided to dump all that water on that jerk…right in front of the other customers…that was all on me…not you,” Tweek said.

“But if I hadn’t told you who he was, or what he was doing…you wouldn’t have lost your job,” I said.

“Come on, Craig. Don’t blame yourself for this! That jerk got what was coming to him, and even if I didn’t know who he was…I would still be able to tell he was being a dick towards you, and I wouldn’t let that stand,” Tweek said.

“Still…you shouldn’t have done that! I could have handled it on my own,” I said.

“Yeah, but then you’d risk your reputation, and that wouldn’t be good for your business now, would it?” Tweek asked.

“Who cares? At least I’d still have a business, while you’re out of a job,” I said.

“Craig…come on…it’s alright. Really. I can always look for another job. It won’t be hard to find another place that needs a server,” Tweek said.

“But what about your bartending license? Didn’t you say you were getting lessons from someone at the bistro?” I asked.

“...True, but I can always…figure something else out with that. Maybe I’ll go to a proper school and get my training there,” Tweek said.

“But it might cost you a lot,” I said.

“Yeah, but…don’t worry about that. I still have plenty of money saved, and I still have my art commissions. I just gotta…do more commissions to help pay rent, groceries, and utilities for a while, but it’ll be fine,” Tweek said.

“You can’t possibly just rely on your painting to earn money, Tweek. You know selling art isn’t an easy job,” I pointed out.

“Sure, but…until I can find another job…I have no other options,” Tweek sighed, “I’ll probably need to cut back on a few expenses here and there, so…um…unfortuantely…it seems we won’t be able to go out to eat for a while,” Tweek said as he walked into my kitchen to grab some glasses.

“...” Even after getting fired…he was still concerned about having a meal with me everyday?

I…I can’t…keep doing this to him. Not him.

“....Tweek..” I muttered.

“Hm…now that I have more free time…maybe I can finally work on that big project of mine! I’ve…actually finally came up with an idea that I think would work great,” Tweek said.

“Tweek…”

“Oh, and now that I have more time…we can hang out more often. I could even help out at your photography studio if you want! Though…my hands might be a bit too shaky to hold a camera…but I can still help in other ways!”

“Tweek.”

“Oh, and hey…the next time the guys come visit…I can bake everyone some cupcakes. I remember how you all did love my cupcakes when we were-”

“Tweek! Enough!” I shouted.

“....” Tweek froze before he slowly turned around, and looked at me with a worried expression, “.....W-what’s…wrong, Craig? Heh…don’t like cupcakes?”

I stared at him, feeling like I might cry, “...I’m not in the mood for jokes, Tweek. I…I need you to be serious here,” I said.

“...O-of course…I’m sorry, I just…I figured I’d lighten the mood…especially since…you look like you’re troubled with something,” Tweek said, smiling awkwardly.

“...I am troubled..and that’s what I want to discuss with you about,” I sighed. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes. I then opened them to look at Tweek, “....I don’t think…we should hang out anymore.”

Tweek paused, “...you’re joking…right?”

“...I’m not,” I said.

We stood there in silence. Neither of us moved. Tweek seemed to be registering what I just said before he placed the glasses in his hands down and walked over towards me.

“Craig…what’s going on? Why are you…saying this?”

“....I’ve been thinking things through and…I realized that…I don’t think…we’re…compatible,” I said.

“Compatible? Compatible!?” Tweek frowned, “what the fuck are you talking about? What do you mean we’re not compatible?”

I looked away, staring at the floor, “it is what it sounds like. I think…I think…we’re too different from each other and that…that…” I swallowed my saliva and was struggling to get the words out, “...that maybe we’d be happier with someone else.”

“....Craig…look at me,” Tweek said.

“....”

“Look. At. Me!” Tweek placed his hands on my shoulder and crouched down, making me look at him, “why are you doing this? I thought…I thought we were good, that we…we wanted this,” Tweek said.

“...I thought so too..but…after everything that has happened, and the fact that I’m too reliant on you…I don’t think…we’d be good together,” I said.

“...Is this what that asshole said earlier? About you being a burden? You know that’s not true. It will never be true,” Tweek said.

“How do you know that?” I asked.

“Because I said so, Craig!” Tweek placed his hands on my cheeks, and he stood up straight as he forced me to look at him, “I care for you so much, Craig, that….I can never see you as a burden. So…so get those thoughts out of your head, right now!” Tweek huffed.

“....I can’t…because…it’s still true,” I said.

“Oh my god, Craig! Please…think reasonably here!” Tweek begged.

“I am,” I sighed as I grabbed Tweek’s hands and pulled them away from my face, “...I am thinking reasonably here,” I said, “and right now…I…I can’t be with you, Tweek, I don’t think I can be what you want,” I said.

“And how do you know what I want, Craig, hm? What exactly is it that I want?”

“....I don’t know…I just know…what you want is someone that isn’t like me. A fucked up freak who can’t even eat food without gagging, and has to rely and burden others just to be able to eat something,” I said.

“That’s total bullshit, Craig, and you know it!” Tweek said as he grabbed my hands, and squeezed them tightly, “you’re not fucked up, and you’re not a burden, so quit saying that about yourself.”

“But I am.”

“No you aren’t!”

“I am!”

“Stop it, Craig!” Tweek exclaimed.

“I can’t because…because…I don’t like you anymore, Tweek!” I shouted.

“....” Tweek stared at me in shock.

I stared at him, feeling guilty for lying, but…I had to make Tweek leave me somehow. “I’m sorry…I’m sorry for lying…and that…I didn’t say this sooner,” I said, looking away, “that…that was actually why I wanted to talk to you earlier about our relationship…that I…I don’t think…we should be together anymore.”

“...You’re lying,” Tweek said.

“I’m not,” I said.

“Craig, stop lying,” Tweek said, tears forming in the corner of his eyes.

“I’m not lying, Tweek!” I shouted, I began to act angry, “I…I don’t want to be in a relationship with you! You of all people should know that…I’m not a fan of dating, I don’t want to date anyone, and that…I don’t want to be in a relationship…not with anyone, and not with you, that’s why…I want to end this…now,” I said.

Tweek frowned as he let go of my hands, “Craig…I am not one of the guys that Clyde set you up with. I am not one of your blind dates,” Tweek said, “tell me what we did yesterday wasn’t real…you look me in the fucking eyes and tell me that. That everything we’ve done wasn’t real,” Tweek said sternly.

“.....I’m sorry, Tweek,” I sighed as I looked away, “but…I don’t want to be with you anymore.”

“......” Tweek was silence, and we just stood there.

After a moment, I heard Tweek sniffling, and when I glanced back at him, he was crying.

“....Fine….fine!” Tweek said as he walked over towards the door, “...the moment I leave this door…I won’t come back. I won’t call, I won’t text, and I won’t come see you again,” Tweek said.

“.....That’s fine. Probably better that way,” I said.

“.....” Tweek stared at me angrily before wiping his eyes. “....Goodbye, Craig.” Tweek then opened the door and slammed it shut behind him.

He was gone.

“....” I stood there for a while, feeling tears falling down my cheek. I sniffled as I wiped my eyes, trying to stop myself from crying.

I don’t deserve to cry.

“...Shit…” I muttered. I stared at the bottle of wine that Tweek brought and left behind, and just walked over and grabbed it. I opened the bottle and began drinking from the bottle. I just wanted to numb the pain. “...Mmmmfff..” I froze and spat the wine out, gagging at the god awful taste. “...Fuck…of fucking course!” I cursed, getting pissed off.

I then tossed the bottle onto the ground, allowing it to shatter. I just stared at the mess on the ground before I finally broke down and started to cry.

I…I deserved this. I deserve to feel awful. I deserve to be hated. I deserve not being able to eat properly.

Most of all…I deserved to be alone….

Clyde 12:23pm

Dude, we need to talk. Tweek told me everything. Please pick up your phone

Clyde 12:40pm

Craig, please don’t ignore me. Please…talk to me…even reply to my messages! Just…please…

Clyde 1:02pm

Craig, come on! Please! I just wanna make sure you’re okay, so come on…stop declining my calls!

Clyde 1:07pm

Have you even been eating? Please at least tell me you are taking care of yourself here!

Clyde 1:08pm

Craig…please. We’re all worried for you…

I read the messages from Clyde before sighing. I decided to block his number before putting my phone down, and pulling my covers over my head.

It’s already been four days since I broke things off with Tweek, and since then…I’ve basically stayed at my apartment. I declined all calls from work, and even put up a sign at my studio saying I was going to take a break for a while. Though at this point…I might as well shut it down…I don’t think I have the energy to take any photos right now…

“Ugh..” I groaned as I felt my stomach growling, but I ignored it. I just shut my eyes and tried to sleep some more. That’s all I’m good for these days. Sleeping away, and doing absolutely nothing.

Obviously, I haven’t gone out to eat with anyone, nor do I plan to. I’ve also tossed all the food in my apartment as I saw there was no point. Tweek wasn’t going to come back to cook for me, and I can’t eat any of it anyways, so it’ll all go bad eventually. In the end, I’ve been eating nothing but that tasteless jell-o in my fridge until it was all gone, and a lot of water.

“....Maybe I’ll die in my sleep,” I sighed, feeling depressed. My stomach growled again, but I didn’t want to go out and buy more jell-o or any foods that have no taste in it. What’s the point?

All I’ll ever do is hurt people and push them away. So why bother eating…why bother doing anything anymore? I should just…end it….

Suddenly, I heard my doorbell ringing. I ignored it, thinking maybe the person got the wrong address or something since I didn’t order anything, so definitely not a package. However, the doorbell kept ringing, and then I heard the loud pounding against my front door, even all the way from my bedroom.

Oh great…

“Craig! Craig! Open the door!”

“....Clyde?” I opened my eyes and sat up, realizing it was Clyde. “Fuck…” I sighed before laying back down and using my pillow to cover my ears. “Just ignore it…he’ll go away eventually…”

“Craig! Craig! If you don’t open the door, I’m breaking it down!”

Ignore it. Ignore it…

After ten minutes straight of Clyde banging on my door, I couldn’t take it anymore. I groaned as I got out of bed and left my room, heading straight for the front door where the sound was much louder. I then opened the door and glared at Clyde.

“I thought I made it perfectly clear I didn’t want to be bothered,” I said.

Clyde frowned, “and you think I’d listen?” Clyde sighed before pushing me to the side and allowing himself in. “I got you fried chicken, so start eating…” Clyde said.

“...Not hungry,” I said, ignoring the smell of fried chicken in the bag Clyde was holding.

“Dude, you look like shit! I can almost see your cheekbones sticking out! How many days have you not eaten?” Clyde asked.

“I ate some jell-o yesterday…morning,” I said, looking away.

“Jesus Christ, dude!” Clyde said, “you need to eat!” Clyde said as he grabbed my arm and pulled me towards my dining table, where he forced me to sit down and quickly headed into my kitchen to grab a plate.

“Clyde, I am not eating, I don’t need your help, and I don’t want your help. So just go home…” I said.

“I’m not leaving until I see you eat at least one piece of chicken,” Clyde said as he walked back, opened the bag he brought with him, and grabbed one chicken leg, placing it on the plate. He then pushed the plate towards me. “Eat.”

“No,” I frowned, crossing my arms.

“Stop acting like a baby, and just eat,” Clyde huffed.

“I said, no,” I said sternly.

“Craig, I’m not asking, I’m telling. Now eat before I shove this chicken leg down your throat,” Clyde angrily said.

“Go ahead! Maybe I’ll choke on it and die,” I threw my hands up in frustration.

“...Dude…do you even hear what you’re saying right now?”

“...I know,” I sighed, “and I don’t care…I’m done caring,” I sighed as I placed my head on the table, feeling too weak and tired to argue anymore.

“.....Look man…I know you’re upset with what happened between you and Tweek, and while I get you’re hurting, imagine what Tweek is going through right now,” Clyde said.

“...I do know what he thinks…he probably hates me,” I sighed.

“Craig…he doesn’t hate you,” Clyde said.

“Well…he should,” I sighed as I sat up. “...I ruined everything.”

“Don’t say that,” Clyde said.

“But I do,” I said.

“No you don’t, man! That’s just…the hunger talking,” Clyde said.

“No it’s not, Clyde…it’s my self-loathing that’s talking,” I sighed. “....I…why am I like this? Why can’t I eat food normally? Why do I have to bother others just to function like a human being?” I asked, feeling tears welling up my eyes.

“....You’re not bothering anyone, dude. You’re just…trying to survive, and that’s like…basic human instincts, you know?”

“Tch…some instinct I got if my fucked up brain can’t be happy with food as is, and has to make it taste awful just because it can’t cope being alone,” I sighed, “....and now instead of trying to not make my brain feel lonely…I’m just pushing people away and making it worse for myself. Hell…just yesterday…the tasteless jell-o I ate actually taste bad…it…tasted…fucking…bad, Clyde…” I sighed as I leaned in my seat, staring up at the ceiling, “...I’m just…broken…I’m too broken to be human…too broken to have a real relationship…to have connections with people…to…make people…happy. I’m broken and fucked up in the head.”

“.....You’re not broken…you’re lonely,” Clyde said, “so lonely that…you think being alone is normal for you, that you don’t need anyone, that's why you push people away because…you actually think you’re better off alone than being with someone,” Clyde said.

“...Oh god…are you seriously playing therapist right now? I don’t need that…just like how I stopped going to therapy after the whole taste bud change,” I sighed.

“Well…maybe you need a therapist…but since you seem like you don’t wanna leave the apartment…I’ll have to pretend to be a therapist,” Clyde said as he sat down in one of the empty chairs and turned towards me. “Now, Mr. Tucker…tell me…why do you think you feel you deserve to be alone?”

“Clyde, I’m not playing this game,” I said.

“Come on…just humor me,” Clyde said, smiling softly at me, “if you do…I’ll consider leaving you alone whether or not you eat or not,” Clyde said.

“....Ugh…fine,” I sighed as I sat up straight and turned to look at him. “...The reason I think I deserve to be alone is because…I’ve always been the loner type,” I said.

“Why do you think that?”

“I don’t know…never liked talking much to people…never been interested in dating, and never really liked to spend time with people longer than necessary,” I said.

“Uh huh…but then…what about your friends? Like me, Tolkien, Jimmy…Tweek?”

“.....I don’t know…”

“Answer the question, Mr. Tucker…otherwise we’ll never find the issue with you.”

I sighed, “I guess…since you guys were so persistent on hanging out with me…I just…got used to it. In a way…you all worn me out so much that…I didn’t mind having you guys around so much,” I said.

Clyde nodded, “and people you’ve met before…have they never done the same?”

“...A few did…mostly my exes ironically enough. They kept persisting despite me showing no interest at first,” I said, looking down, “maybe that’s why I easily went ahead and got into a relationship with them in the first place…despite me knowing deep down it wasn’t going to work out…especially the last one,” I sighed, still wishing I had a chance to punch Mason in the face.

“Hm…doesn’t that mean you only got into relationships because…you desire human connections?”

“...Maybe,” I said.

“I see…so tell me…if you desire human connection…why push them away?”

“.....Because…I’m worried I’ll screw something up…I’m worried it’ll be my fault if things fall to shit. I’m worried that…I’ll just be a burden to them,” I said.

“And why do you think you’re a burden?”

“....Because…because…” I couldn’t think of anything, I just looked down, staring at the plate of chicken that Clyde handed me.

“I think…I see the problem now,” Clyde said, “you’re scared…you’re scared you’ll ruin things, you’re scared it’ll be our fault, and you’re scared that…if things are ruined…then you’ll never see the people you care about again.”

“......Yeah,” I sighed, agreeing with him.

“Well dude…all I can say is…don’t be scared,” Clyde said.

“Easier said than done, Clyde,” I sighed.

“I’m just saying…a guy like you who is straightforward and logical…you can be pretty dumb when it comes to socializing.”

“...Okay…and your point is?” I asked, getting annoyed.

“I’m just saying…don’t let those worries stop you from pursuing what you really want. If you want to be with Tweek, then be with him. He likes you, and you obviously like him, so…don’t be scared of the what ifs, and just…go with your heart,” Clyde said.

“Clyde, it’s not that simple,” I said.

“True, but it also doesn’t have to be that complicated. Hell….I know about Bebe’s past lovers and exes, and yet I still went after her…and look at us now. She’s…actually happy with me,” Clyde said.

My eyes widened, “you…knew?”

“...Dude…I might be slow on a lot of things, but…I’m not a total idiot,” Clyde said.

“.....Huh,” that was all I could say, “....and you’re…happy with that? How do you know Bebe won’t end up leaving you or even cheating?”

“I don’t,” Clyde smiled, “but…I trust her…and I love who she is currently. So even if…she does end up leaving me or finding someone else…I’ll always be happy with the memories we had together, and I also know…I won’t be alone. I still got my friends…and I especially got you in my corner,” Clyde said.

“.....Clyde…”

“....So believe me, Craig…you’re not a burden…you’re not fucked up…you’re none of that. You’re just a lonely guy who probably needs a hug right now…and a decent meal,” Clyde sighed, “so instead of worrying about the future, just worry about now. After all…your friends were the ones that wore you down until you let us in…so there’s no way we’ll leave you after all that work to get your walls down,” Clyde grinned.

“.....Clyde…”

“Hm?”

“.....Thank you,” I said, smiling at him.

Clyde grinned, “hey, what are friends for?”

“....Yeah,” I said as I stared at the chicken in front of me before I grabbed it and began eating. “....Mmmm…this tastes so good,” I said with my mouth full.

“Heh…I had a feeling you’d enjoy it. Here, have a thigh too! These ones are nice, big, and juicy,” Clyde said as he placed a thigh on my plate.

“Grab a plate yourself, I don’t think I’ll be able to finish all of this,” I said.

“Alright alright,” Clyde said as he got up to grab a plate. “....And hey…don’t worry about relying on me or Tweek, or anyone…okay? We’re here for you because…we want to.”

“....I know,” I said, slowly chewing.

“Good…and promise me…you’ll talk to Tweek. He seemed…devastated when he told me about what happened,” Clyde said.

“....I will…I promise,” I said.

I…I definitely owe Tweek an apology. Hopefully…he’ll be willing to talk to me.

Thanks to Clyde’s help and persistence, I decided to see Tweek after Clyde left. I went to the store to buy something to give to Tweek, hoping a small gift will help. So by the time I stood by Tweek’s door, I rang the doorbell, and waited.

After a few moments, I heard the locks clicking, and the door soon opened, with Tweek on the other side.

“...Craig?”

“Uh…hey,” I said awkwardly, hiding the gift I brought for Tweek behind my back.

“....What are you doing here?” Tweek frowned.

“Well uh…Clyde came by and spoke with me, and now I…I came…to apologize,” I said.

“....I see,” Tweek said, crossing his arms.

“Um…I-I also brought a gift…for you…if you want,” I said, holding a long paper bag, “h-here,” I said as he handed the gift to Tweek.

Tweek was hesitant, but took the bag and took out what was inside, “....wine?” Tweek asked.

“Yeah…well..the wine you brought…I might have tossed it away, so…I am giving you a replacement wine…now…I don’t know much about wine, so not sure if this is good quality or not, I just…bought whatever looked expensive,” I said.

“.....It’s good brand…so…it’s fine,” Tweek said, placing the bottle back inside the bag.

I gulped as we stood there awkwardly. I didn’t know what to say, and glanced around, a bit relieved no one else was around.

“...Um…may I come in?” I asked.

“....I guess,” Tweek sighed as he stepped out of the way, and opened the door wide, allowing me to come in.

As we headed inside, I looked around and noticed that the giant canvas with the field of sunflowers was covered up by a sheet. Confused, I turned to Tweek, wondering what that was about.

“How come you covered that up?” I asked.

“Oh..I just…didn’t feel like continuing…so I’m just covering it up for now until I can think of a new project…or something,” Tweek said.

“So you’re just…giving up on this piece?” I asked.

Tweek frowned, “Craig, aren’t you here to apologize or something? So just go on with it, or leave…I don’t have time to deal with you,” Tweek said as he placed my gift on his kitchen counter, and walked over to where his laptop was. I noticed he was on a website for finding jobs, and realized he must have been trying to apply for places.

“....Tweek…I’m sorry for what I said…I’m sorry I hurt your feelings, and I’m sorry…for everything,” I said.

“.....” Tweek sighed before he closed his laptop and turned to me, “why did you say all that, Craig? Why were you pushing me away?”

“....Because…I was scared,” I said, looking down, “I was scared I was ruining things for you, scared that I might be a burden to you, and scared that…you’d…eventually leave me once you grew tired of me.”

“Why on earth would you think that?” Tweek sighed.

“...I don’t know…I really don’t know,” I sighed as I rubbed the back of my neck, staring down. “I guess…after having two failed relationships where either the person left me, or the person cheated on me…I just…got anxious about being in a relationship. I was..worried that…somehow…I’d screw things up,” I said.

Tweek frowned, “why would you think you’d screw it up?” Tweek asked.

“I don’t know…it always felt like my last relationship ended because…it was my fault…and…I know…I shouldn’t think that way…and that the last one definitely wasn’t my fault, but…still…you put all your time and effort into something…only for it to end after one thing…and you feel like you’re the one to be blamed for it,” I said.

Tweek looked sad, “and that’s why you broke up with me? Thinking…I’ll be better off without you? That…I’d blame you for one bad mistake?”

“.....Yeah,” I sighed before placing my hands on my face, “ugh…I know…I was stupid…you don’t even need to say it…just hearing myself say it made me realize how stupid I was being…”

“Yeah…that was very stupid,” Tweek sighed, “...but I get it,” Tweek said.

“...You do?” I asked as I glanced at him.

“Craig…I was the most anxious kid in our year, I was constantly worried, overworked, and felt like the world was after me,” Tweek pointed out, “it took me years to recover from all that, and I still have problems today…problems that are hard to let go completely,” Tweek sighed, “...but you know what…I kept going…I kept trying..and I kept thinking positively…and you know why?”

“Why?” I asked.

“...Because of you, you moron,” Tweek sighed, “...you helped me out, you stayed by my side, you…were my closest friend.”

“I wasn’t the only one that helped, Tweek. I just…one of them,” I said.

“True, but…you stayed the longest. You listened. You always checked up on me. You always gave me advice that I needed. Out of everyone who cared for me…you cared the most…and that’s why I fell for you, because…you…were patient, you understood, and you stayed.”

“.....Tweek….” I looked down, feeling like I was going to cry, “Tweek, I’m so so sorry. I shouldn’t have said I didn’t like you, I shouldn’t have lied, I…I should have been smart about this and not let these negative feelings take over. I am…so so sorry,” I said, shutting my eyes tightly.

“....I forgive you,” Tweek said.

I opened my eyes to look at him, and I saw the soft smile on his face. I blushed a bit, looking away, all embarrassed.

“Tweek…thank you…and…I promise I’ll do better. I promise I’ll win your heart again, and that…I’ll stay with you, just like before. So please…don’t leave me…don’t leave me again. I…I don’t know if I can handle you being gone from my life,” I said.

Tweek chuckled before he walked over towards me and placed his right hand on my left cheek, looking at me with a smile.

“I promised before…didn’t I? That I wouldn’t ghost you and everyone again,” Tweek said.

“....Yeah…you did,” I said.

Tweek smiled, “hey…have you eaten yet?” Tweek asked.

“Oh…well..I had some fried chicken with Clyde an hour earlier, but…I could still eat,” I said.

Tweek chuckled, “good…I think…I can whip up something that would go perfectly with that wine you brought,” Tweek said.

I looked at him before smiling gently, “that sounds lovely.”

Tweek smiled, “why don’t you sit down while I get everything ready,” Tweek said.

“A-alright,” I said as I sat down at the counter, and watched Tweek go into his kitchen, getting the ingredients and equipment ready.

As he was getting everything out, I glanced back at Tweek’s painting, and frowned a bit, “...are you…really going to give up on that painting?” I asked.

“....Mmm…I thought I was…but…I don’t know…still haven’t figured out what to paint in the center,” Tweek sighed.

“.....Hey…I think…I might have an idea,” I said.

“Oh? What is it?” Tweek asked, glancing at me.

I looked at him before smiling, “how do you feel about…doing a bit of a collaboration together?”

Tweek looked at me, surprised for a moment, he then grinned widely.

“I love it.”

The room was crowded with a bunch of people I don’t know, and I’ll admit, I was feeling a bit overwhelmed right now, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that I needed to find Tweek.

“Tweek! …Tweek! Tweek!” I called Tweek out, trying to find him through the crowd.

“Craig! Over here!” I saw Tweek waving near the front, and quickly headed towards him.

“Thank god I found you,” I said, sighing in relief.

“Yeah, same, but…what’s up?” Tweek asked.

I then held up the cocktail weiner in my hands. “This.”

“...Really?” Tweek frowned.

“What? I was hungry, we didn’t get to eat anything at all today since we were busy setting all this up,” I sighed.

“I know, I know…but didn’t you say you’re starting to get better at eating alone now?” Tweek asked.

“...Yeah…but…these cocktail wieners look so good…and didn’t want to risk it,” I said.

Tweek laughed, “alright alright, well…go ahead. I’m here. Eat those weenies,” Tweek smirked.

I smiled before popping the weiner into my mouth, and taking out the little tooth pick it came with. “...Mmm…that’s delicious. You should grab some for yourself,” I said.

“I’ll get some later, right now I’m busy welcoming the guests,” Tweek said.

“Well take a break, you’ve been working all day, and I miss you like crazy,” I said, hugging him.

Tweek laughed, gently pushing me away, “when did you get so clingy?”

I smiled, “the moment we made things official,” I said.

“Oh my god,” Tweek chuckled before he leaned in and gave me a kiss on the lips.

“Aw…there’s the happy couple!” A familiar voice spoke up.

“Clyde!” Both Tweek and I exclaimed, happy to see him.

Next to Clyde, we also saw Bebe, who waved at us with a smile.

“Oh, hi Bebe! You look gorgeous,” Tweek smiled.

“Thank you, and you two look handsome as ever…oh…if only Clyde here could dress up like you…took me hours to find the perfect suit that would fit him.”

“Oh come on, just because we’re here to support our friends for having their art project be a feature in this art show doesn’t mean we have to dress all that fancy,” Clyde said.

“Actuall you do,” I said, “it’s a dress code. I’m pretty sure I mentioned this in group chat.”

“...Oh right,” Clyde said.

“See what I have to deal with?” Bebe sighed. She turned around and stared at the wall where both mine and Tweek’s artworks were. “Oh wow…is this it? It’s…amazing,” Bebe said.

“Thank you,” Tweek said.

Both Tweek and I smiled as we looked up at our hard work. On the wall were two pieces, one was Tweek’s painting, and the other were my pictures. Tweek’s painting was the sunflower field he finally continued and finished, and in the center of the piece was a painting of me, holding a giant sunflower, while smiling. As for my photos, it was a bunch of photos of Tweek, working on his painting from different angles, and at the center of the photos was one large photo of Tweek, smiling happily at the camera.

I made sure that picture captured Tweek’s beauty.

“Crazy how you two used both of your mediums and combined them to make one connecting art piece,” Clyde said.

“It’s very creative,” Bebe said.

“Thanks…guess all that hard work we did paid off since after Tweek posted our project on his blog, this art curator guy found our work, contacted us, and basically wanted to have it featured in his art gallery,” I said.

“Who knew our project would be noticed this much…it’s like a dream come true,” Tweek grinned.

I smiled at him, “you did great, honey.”

“No…you did great, tiger,” Tweek said.

I chuckled, “we both did great.”

“Yeah…we did,” Tweek said.

“....Do you want us to give you a moment so you can make out?” Clyde asked.

I rolled my eyes and flipped him off, “shut up,” I sighed.

Clyde chuckled. “Oh, by the way, the others will be here soon since they also wanted to support you guys. Though it might take a while since they’re stuck in traffic.”

“No worries, this show is going to last till ten, so plenty of time,” Tweek said.

“Yeah…but man…would be nice if they served a meal or something…something a little more filling than tiny cocktail wieners,” I sighed, finding myself getting hungry.

“Well we can always make something when we get home,” Tweek said.

I pouted, “but this calls for a celebration…we should eat out…and eat with everyone,” I said.

“Oh yeah! We should all go out and get something to celebrate,” Clyde said.

“I’m down for that,” Bebe said.

“But…what about the show?” Tweek asked.

“Oh who cares, that curator guy can handle things. I think we all deserve a break to have a good meal,” I said.

“...Heh…I guess you have a point,” Tweek smiled, “...alright…how about once everyone else gets here…we can go to that fancy restaurant down the street. I heard they have the best ravioli around.”

“Oh that sounds good,” I said, already salivating at the thought.

“Oh, I hope they have shrimp scampi, been craving that for a while,” Clyde said.

“I would kill for some sushi…it’s been so long since I had any,” Bebe sighed.

“I thought you had Sushi on Wednesday with the girls?”

“Yeah…I had it on Wednesday. It’s Saturday now, so…it’s been almost three days.”

Tweek chuckled, “what about you, Craig? What do you want to eat?”

“....Honestly…anything sounds good,” I smiled, “and I know it’ll be delicious with all you guys around.”

Tweek looked at me and smiled warmly, Clyde grinned, and Bebe giggled. I looked at all of them, and felt a nice warm feeling inside. The feeling of comfort and belonging.

Today has been perfect, and I know tomorrow and the day after will be perfect too because…I’m not alone anymore.

I love my job, I love my home, and I love food.

But most of all…I love all my friends very dearly.

The End.
