Work Text:
Carol and Therese don’t argue often.
Five years later, they both have learned how to handle each other’s moods, how to respect the boundaries that are set, how to avoid an outburst when they can.
Therese understands Carol, and Carol understands Therese. Needless to say, they don’t fight. They don’t try to, at least.
Unfortunately, though, Therese tends to be a brat.
She woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning; quite literally. Carol was at furniture auctions all weekend, which usually Therese could handle, but this weekend the lack of Carol has left her in a state of permanent agitation rather than indifference and a bitter loneliness she pushes down to the deep corners of her heart.
That followed by work, God it’s the worst. Working at the Times is a privilege. Your craft is put in the newspaper, delivered all across the country, everyone sees what you do— Except if you’re Therese Belivet, and none of your submissions made it into the paper this week.
They didn’t explain why exactly, but from what Therese gathered they weren’t good enough— Or, rather, everyone else was better. Dannie reassured her that it happens to everyone there, and everyone works just as hard as she does, so there was nothing to fuss over. The thing is Dannie is wrong. Therese works ten times harder— She has to— Than anyone else there. She’s one of two female photographers on the team, she has to do nothing short of beg to make sure her photos land in the paper. Along with that she’s practically Harvey’s personal assistant, and Duke’s file runner, and Dannie’s “favor spotter”. It’s not uncommon for her to stay two hours overtime, or even return to work later, so she can get everything she needs done.
No one else gets it, which just makes her even angrier.
Now it was Sunday, half past seven, and the second her shoes land across the threshold of the door she throws off her jacket and her tie with something like petulance, sliding off her heels. Carol isn’t here, wouldn’t be until tomorrow morning, and the damn near a hundred hours a week she puts in at work is looking incredibly null. She’s practically throwing a tantrum, slamming the door behind her, tossing her jacket over the back of the couch and stomping towards the kitchen in a fit of anger, intending on drinking the rest of the night away.
What she doesn’t expect, though, is the blonde figure leaning on the counter, a six pack already beside her, one setting open. She glances at Therese, humming.
“Slamming doors?”
Normally, Therese would’ve tackled her, wrapped her arms around her and kissed her all over while she giggled and whined about how much she missed Carol. Five years later and two days apart still seems like torture to Therese’s brain. Even from the smile on Carol’s face, she knows what she’s expecting. It never comes, though, Therese just grabs her beer and pops off the cap, drinking down a few swigs.
“How was work?”
Therese doesn’t even want to humor that question. She shakes her head, “Fine,” She answers, and Carol doesn’t believe her.
“Is there something wrong?”
“No.”
“I think you’re lying to me. You know I don’t like liars, Belivet.”
Carol strides in front of the girl, bracketing both arms on either side of her, forcing her against the counter. Therese’s jaw clenches, teeth grinding together as her big, green eyes stare helplessly into Carol’s blue ones.
“I’m not lying, Carol. Why do you think you just know everything?”
Carol’s eyebrow raises, something dangerous flashing across her face, “Oh?”
Therese swallows, “You don’t just get to leave me for the weekend, then come back and accuse me of lying when I’m fine— It’s fine.”
Carol takes a moment to consider. Then, she leans down, burying her nose into that sensitive spot under Therese’s ear, “You smell like smoke, and cologne.”
Therese huffs, “It’s… The guys at my work.”
“They’re getting close enough to you, to make you smell like their cologne?”
Therese scoffs, clenching her fists, “What the fuck are you even implying?”
Carol’s hand slams down beside her, making her jump, “Watch your mouth, little girl, I’m in no mood. My weekend wasn’t much better, if you care to ask, and I deserve a modicum of respect despite your difficult day.”
Therese hates how Carol’s voice makes her face flush and her heart race. Hates how when Carol’s hand slides down to her side she melts into the touch, and feels the heat in her tummy sink and settle deeper. Soon enough, Carol’s thigh ends up between Therese’s, and the girl is forced against the counter at an uncomfortable angle. She gasps, eyes falling shut at the sensation.
A part of her wants to shove Carol off, make her fight for it, make her put her in her place like she knows she’s dying to do. Though, the other part of her, the one that’s half a foot smaller, slimmer, weaker proves that to be impossible. She couldn’t get away even if she wanted to… And there’s truly nowhere else she’d rather be.
Rutting against Carol’s thigh like a desperate animal, the woman’s words fill her ears again, making her pulse start to race, “Is this what you needed, hm? To rub against me like a puppy? Will this fix your attitude?”
Between soft pants and gasps Therese manages out something sounding like “Go to hell,” which Carol quickly corrects with a sharp tug at Therese’s hair.
“I hate it when you get like this, angel,” She whispers, grabbing Therese’s chin, forcing eye contact, “You’re always such a good girl for me, aren’t you? You do everything I say, you don’t talk back… Then this happens, and I have to break you in all over again.”
She flexes her thigh, and Therese starts to rut harder, the friction barely sustaining her through their clothes. Carol sees the defiance slowly start to leave Therese’s body, until she’s bucking against Carol’s thigh, desperate for release.
“I need— More, Carol…”
“But you don’t deserve it, do you? Come like that or don’t come at all,” She nips at Therese’s ear hard, making her jerk, “It doesn’t matter to me.”
Therese tries, she does, she angles herself to press against that spot she needs for relief but it doesn’t matter because it’s not enough. She needs Carol. She needs her in her hair and her mouth and in her— This isn’t enough.
“Please, Carol…”
“Finally learning your lesson?” Her hand slides down to Therese’s shirt, untucking it from under her pants. The suspenders are discarded, and Carol slowly, teasingly unbuttons all of the buttons on Therese’s dress shirt, making her squirm and jerk with every little touch. Therese can do nothing but sit there, wait, on the very edge of what she wants. Carol pulls her shirt down and off, then immediately starts to mouth at her neck, her collarbone, down to her breasts which are exposed with a few quick flicks at the clasps of her bra. It falls down and off, discarded with the rest of her clothes, and Carol starts to teeth and suck at a hard nipple.
“Carol—” Therese has lost that friction between her legs she was trying so hard to focus on, now Carol is devouring her, in every sense of the word, and Therese is so frustrated that Carol just won’t bring her over the edge already.
“There you are. There’s my good girl,” Carol whispers against warm skin. Therese’s nails dig into her shoulders, trying to pull her closer. “If you want it, you’ll have to work for it, won’t you? You can do that for me, can’t you?”
Therese whimpers, “Yes.”
A sinful laugh leaves Carol’s lips and she presses a chaste kiss to the corner of Therese’s mouth before walking off towards the bedroom. Therese follows her, still disheveled, weak in the knees but God does she follow her. She’d follow Carol through a thousand cities and a thousand houses for a chance to be at her side… Or under her.
Closing the door to the bedroom she sees Carol has slipped off her dress, now just in her bra and underwear, and Therese feels like she may die at the sight of the Goddess in front of her. Toned back facing her, wearing red lace of all things, with all those little scars and blemishes littering her skin. Therese almost doesn’t notice the leather and cloth she’s strapping around her hips, not until she turns to face her, and Therese sees the thick rubber against Carol’s skin.
The woman sits down on the edge of the bed, leaning back, gesturing with a crook of her head for Therese to come. This isn’t something they do a lot, not unless Therese really wants it, and right now she does, God she couldn’t imagine a point in her life where she didn’t want this.
She’s standing in front of Carol, waiting for orders, to be commanded, told what to do. Carol looks up at this broken-in-brat with an almost sinister smile, gaze raking up and down her delicate, trembling form.
“Strip,” Is the only word that leaves her lips, and it’s the only word that has to. Therese unbuttons her dark blue slacks, drops them to be pooled at her feet alongside her underwear, and slowly steps forward, completely bare.
“You know what you’re going to do, hm?”
Therese nods.
“If you make it good for me, I’ll give you a reward.”
Therese swallows, nodding again, and suddenly her hips are seized and she’s pulled onto Carol’s lap.
It doesn’t take much effort for her to sink down onto the toy, all of that humping and rutting from earlier seemed to have gotten her about as slick and open as she can be. Soon enough she lowers herself down completely to the base, and Carol holds her there, letting her feel filled, just like she needed.
Therese brings herself up again, then right back down, at a pace Carol controls with that tight grip on her sides. The motion is fluid, almost elegant in a way only Carol could ever accomplish, and it doesn’t take long for Therese to start panting, whining, whimpering and melting right in front of Carol. Carol doesn’t think there’s a better sight in the world, than her angel completely dismantled on top of her. She meets every downward motion with a thrust of her hips, and Therese’s arms wrap around her neck, holding on for dear life, like she’ll fall apart completely if she even considers letting go.
“You’re such an easy girl,” Carol muses, knowing how much Therese loves to talk through being fucked, “You tried to be a brat, and you failed horribly, because you just love to listen to me, don’t you?”
Therese can’t focus on Carol’s words, too fixated on how deep she’s taking her, how she’s practically dripping down her thighs. Carol pulls Therese’s head from her neck and tangles their tongues in a deep, messy kiss, still thrusting, still jerking, caught in that dance they both know so well.
“I should know better, leaving you by yourself like that,” Carol mentions once they part, Therese out of breath, gasping for air, “If I didn’t come home tonight, what would you have done? Sought out one of those boys at the Times?—”
“No!—” Therese flushes a deeper pink color, the passiveness in Carol’s voice clear as day. Carol’s smile doesn’t reach her eyes, all teeth, bared like a predator.
“No? You wouldn’t have? Well, someone needs to take care of you, don’t they? Would you have?”
“No— It has to be you,” Therese manages, hands sliding down to Carol’s shoulders, bringing herself down harder and harder. That answer pleases Carol, because she slowly brings her finger down Therese’s stomach, teases the soft, hairless skin of her sex, before dipping into her slit, rubbing tight circles as she starts to grind herself down harder on the toy.
The duel stimulation makes her come faster than she could ever dream of, eyes rolling back in her head, Carol’s name tearing out of her throat. Her body seizes, steadied only by Carol’s skilled hand, until finally she slumps down, breaths drawing through her like waves to the shore.
Carol’s cheek rubs against Therese’s, whispering to her, “Are you alright?” She asks, and Therese whines in response. Carol smiles at that, knowing her girl is being stubborn, and carefully coaxes her up and off of the toy, ignoring the mess that covers them both as she lays Therese down.
The next few moments are a blur, Therese can hear the harness come off, feel a towel between her legs, wiping up the release that must’ve spilled out of her. She doesn’t know quite how much time has passed, but she feels a cool hand press down on her stomach and she snaps awake, lips parting with soft pants.
“Do you want to help me?” Carol asks from beside her, but Therese’s haze is so thick, she’s convinced Carol could be anywhere in the room. She nods, swallowing.
“Yes. Please,” She begs, and Carol’s weight dips the bed beside her, until it settles firmly on her chest.
Opening her eyes, she sees Carol, completely bare, pale skin almost glowing in the evening light of their bedroom. For a moment, Therese is convinced she’s the luckiest girl alive, to see Carol like that— To be the only one who sees Carol like this, a view she’s sure everyone would kill to be able to witness.
Before Therese can say anything, Carol’s thighs move up, bracketing her head, and Therese is so excited she’s sure she’s already soaked again. When Carol lowers herself down on her mouth Therese wastes no time, tongue flat against the swollen bud of her clit, licking, sucking, swallowing like a woman starved. If she died right here she’d be the happiest person on the face of the earth.
Carol moves her hips in a languid motion, practiced with ease. For a moment Therese can imagine how it would look if Carol was the one riding her, how she’d fill Carol up, hear the moans pour from lips, the soft curses, the near pleads Therese only hears once in a blue moon. The thought surges her on, makes her tongue move faster, her mouth on every part of Carol’s slit she can manage. It doesn’t take long at all, until Carol’s head tips back, and a gush of warmth coats Therese’s tongue, which she swallows down eagerly.
Coming down from her high, Carol slowly maneuvers off of Therese, flopping down right beside her. Pulling her into a cuddle, Therese can only lay there, eyes closed, buried into Carol’s neck, breathing in the sweet scent of sex and sweat. Carol rubs her back, down to her sides, then up again. Neither of them speak, not for a while, until Therese finally mutters, “You weren’t supposed to be home until tomorrow...”
Carol laughs softly, the sound making Therese’s heart skip a beat, “I missed you too much… Do you think you’re the only one here that hates me being gone for so long?”
Therese presses a kiss to her throat, “I suppose not. I’m sorry.”
Carol’s thumb digs into a soft spot on the back of Therese’s neck, fondling her as if she were a dog, “I’m sure you are. You’ve learned your lesson, haven’t you?”
“Mm-hm…”
“Of course you have. My good girl.”
They fall asleep like this, still sticky and damp, messy in their own way but how could they not? Such a natural thing, they think, how they love each other. It’s a shame they’ve had to be apart for so long.
