Letter to Mom and Dad
———
Dear Ma and Pa, I love you.
———
Yeah right.
He groaned. Seven words in and he’s already disappointed in it. Or himself.
Scrunching the paper up, he tossed it into the trash can, not even having to look up to know where it is because at this point? It’s muscle memory.
He glanced up at the clock on his desk that read eleven o’clock, then briefly to the discarded disappointments in the bin.
He sighed and stretched his arms up above his head, his arms cracking in the process. Then, grabbing the half-empty water bottle, he looked at Lein, his dog, curled up on the couch.
Which he knows better than to lay upon.
Jeez Lein…
He rolled his eyes then looked out the window, setting down the bottle then resting his chin on his palm with his elbows on the desk.
The city lights were nauseating, car lights flashing down the streets, horns blaring in every direction. It’s sickening really, and yet he still stays here waiting for his mom and dad to come back. Him... in this huge house big enough for three families, all on his lonesome.
At least he has Lein.
Is what he thinks ninety percent of the time.
Really it’s an excuse to stay here, locked away from public view.
He doesn’t necessarily have anything against the world. It’s just suffocating to him.
Humans gathered together in one city like they’re all drawn to the same place. It’s just too much for him.
Traffic? Annoying, too many people and cars in one area. Malls? Too cramped. School?
School.
“That’s right… I have graduation soon.”
He muttered before standing up. His legs getting a good stretch before walking over and closing the curtains.
Dark. Cold. Empty.
Darkness filled the space with only one dim light keeping the room illuminated.
Walking over, he laid on his bed, dread pooling in his stomach.
Graduation.
Well it’s not graduation itself, it’s really just what comes after.
———
Beep.
Beep...
Beep!
He whined into his pillow, reaching his arm out to stop the blaring alarm before it went limp with laziness.
Lein on the other hand, rose with the sun. The fluffy Samoyed paced around the bed, waiting for his owner to start their day.
"Lein... come here, yea...?"
He raised the blanket but instantly regretted it with the cool breeze from the fan making its way into the warmth of the bundle of blankets. He shivered violently, getting impatient already.
"Hurry it up would'ya?" He rushed the dog, not meaning to sound aggressive.
Lein hopped up on the bed, not taking any offence from his tone and landed under the sheets.
"Good boy..." He murmured before wrapping the blanket around both of them, not caring about the eventual fur that will be spread amongst his clothes, sheets, and blankets.
He then lifted his arm over the dog. Feeling his warmth, he fell back asleep.
Big mistake.
---
He eventually woke up in his own accord without the loud alarm, his eyes getting graced with the beauty of a drooling dog.
"Ugh. Lein..." He groaned, sitting up slowly.
He rubbed his eyes, finally taking in his familiar surroundings.
He glanced at the time.
Huh.
Then to the date.
Huh...?
Then to the time once again.
.
.
.
HUH!?
"IT'S 11 A.M. ALREADY!?"
He HOPPED out of bed, frantically running around his room gathering all his things.
Shit. Shit! It's testing week too...
AGH, stupid ass time! You're getting on my nerves! If it weren't for time, I wouldn't be LATE!
Shirt? Check.
Pants? Check.
Socks? Check.
Jacket? Check.
"Okay... good, good."
He quickly did his morning routine, not really caring for his hair at the moment.
Grabbing his bag, he ran to the door at top speed.
"Lein!! Be good!!" He exclaimed before slamming the door shut.
---
"Hah...ah...ha"
He slowed down, struggling to catch his breath.
Damn, should've taken track. That was the fastest I've ever ran since middle school...
Wait, that makes me sound like a bum.
---
After entering through the gates, he got sent to class being late.
It was around lunch time by now since it took him 20 minutes to run there.
He walked to the lockers, relaxing his shoulders and sighing.
Then suddenly, a certain someone came into play. "Hey! S'that you, Neiva?"
"Huh...?" He seemed to be absolutely lost.
