i love me after you

Summary:

Anakt High all knew of Mizi. In fact, they knew many things of her, from how she was the captain of the cheerteam to how she treated (almost) everyone like a close friend.

It was hard to miss her when she walked down the halls, greeting everyone she saw—yet what was even harder to miss was how she greeted just one particular girl extra hard.

Sua, the vice president of the council, a quiet yet pretty face, someone most people gave up trying to talk to by the third dismissive statement.
.
.
Except their relationship ran far deeper than just a simple friendship. Deeper than what anyone at their school would expect, really. Mizi was quite content with this, of course, their intimate encounters becoming more routine than anything else. But she never quite stopped to think how Sua felt about it, had she?

Chapter Text

Being captain of the cheerteam, everyone in Anakt High knew who Mizi was. That was simply just a fact, one quite evident, even now as she was just walking into the building—cheerfully greeting every other person she walked past as they greeted her. It was honestly a wonder how she had so much energy in the mornings.

The early morning's quiet glow shone through the building, casting a light across the school, yet it was barely noticeable against the harsh artificial ones. Mizi's feet carried her across the hall, there still being a couple minutes before the passing period actually started. Her eyes scanned the hallway, looking for someone in particular—but as much as she looked she couldn't find her. Sadly. She pouted to herself as she skimmed the students with her eyes, unable to spot Sua, which in itself felt a bit silly. The two of them weren't even dating, never having quite put a label on anything—but Mizi knew in her heart how she felt about Sua.

She loved her. She really did.

After a brief moment, she did find two familiar individuals. Not Sua though, instead none other than Ivan and Till, the two conversing by the wall lined with lockers. She walked over to them.

As Mizi came into view, Ivan turned his head to look at her, speaking up first in a friendly tone. “Hey, Mizi.”

“O-oh! MIZI-!” Till's face immediately flashed pink merely at the sight of Mizi, stammering his words out like a flustered schoolgirl. “Ha...ha, hi.”

Mizi didn't seem to notice Till's obvious demeanor, or at least, she chose not to say anything. —Ivan did though, his consistently trained expression dropping just a fraction at the sight of it.

“Hi Ivan!! Hi Till!!” Mizi's words were nothing short of exultant, her whole personality holding the same radiant excitement it always did. She was almost contagious.

“You seem happy today. Something happen?” Ivan asked, black eyes focused mostly on the pink haired girl, the light hitting them just enough to show the vibrancy of the red shine in his pupils.

Mizi looked off to the side, her mind trailing off to a particular phone call she shared with Sua last night... “Mm, no!” She eventually answered, her voice full of a certain giddiness which told a different story.

Ivan seemed far from believing her claim, yet obviously he didn't argue, just giving a nod to his friend, “Right.”

“Mhm! Anyways! Has Sua arrived here? I haven't seen her yet, and that's bad, 'cuz I wanna see her.” Mizi questioned, the girl quick to change the topic to Sua—yet honestly you could expect nothing less from her.

“Sua? I haven't seen her yet. You two must be really close, haha, you talk about her all the time.” Till commented, speaking as if the two girls were nothing more than two close friends. He sounded so unbelievably oblivious.

Mizi smiled, happily slinging a playful arm around Till's shoulder, causing the man to let out an embarrassed yelp, “Yup! I think she's great!”

'Great', as she said... God, that was a gross under exaggeration.

Till looked about to give some response, even amidst the pink dust harshly across his face—that was, before Mizi noticed someone. If the lovestruck expression had anything to say about it, it was definitely Sua.

There she was, blank faced and stuck in the crowd of people idly waiting in the hallway for the bell to ring. Her figure was too small to physically push anyone out of the way, yet she was too averse from confrontation to actually just... ask anyone to move.

She really is adorable. Too adorable, almost.

Without warning, her arm slipped from Till's shoulder. The silver haired man immediately clenched a hand onto where she had touched him as if it was now blessed, his head turning to Ivan, silently conveying some sort of happiness to him. Ivan couldn't really bring himself to react, an insatiable envious feeling welling up in his throat.

Mizi, meanwhile, was already shoving through the other students to get to Sua, shouting out apologies she only half-felt sincere about, her want—more like need to see Sua overriding anything else at the moment.

As she finally reached her destination, she could barely contain herself as her hands instinctively shot out to hold Sua by the wrist, pulling her close. It seemed to startle the shorter girl initially, yet her expression softened as she saw it was Mizi.

“There you are!” Mizi exclaimed, her smile bright enough to light up a room, appearing genuinely ecstatic just at talking to Sua—which, she undoubtedly was. “Y'know I was getting scared for a moment, you're usually here way earlier.”

“...Oh. Sorry, I didn't think you were looking for me, I would've tried to get to you.” She muttered out, her voice almost too soft to be heard over the ruckus in the hallway. Really, she wouldn't have been audible if the two girls weren't as close as they were.

“Sua, when have I ever not looked for you? You don't have to answer that, Ivan and Till are waiting!” With her words, Mizi's hold shifted from her wrist to her hand, her touch grazing Sua the whole time as if trying to get as much contact as possible. She then, promptly, started to pull Sua with her back through the crowd where she had come, not bothering to have asked for permission, nor really giving the other girl enough time to argue. Sua stumbled the whole way as Mizi finally reemerged to the crowd, returning over to Ivan and Till.

“Hey! Mizi, you're back!” Till called out, stating the obvious, yet what was more obvious than his words was how his face re-lit with pink.

“Mhm! And look who I just found!” Mizi pulled Sua more in front of her as she spoke, like she was showing her off as some sort of prize.

With that, Sua finally regained her footing as Mizi came to a stop. Mizi was fast to wrap her arms around the other's small waist in a back hug which seemed just a bit too intimate for two supposed friends. Sua paid no mind to it. Nor really to the fact Ivan and Till were there, evident by how she gave no greeting to Ivan and Till—she never did, even with how long they had all been friends for.

Despite that though, Till gave her an awkward wave. And Ivan actually chose to speak up,

“Hi Sua.”

Sua, of course, gave no response. Silently just looking at him as if he was the odd one for speaking to her.

Mizi only beamed, quick to burst out in the usual chatter she usually did. Till listened intently, his face pink, hanging onto each word as if they were priceless— Sua's gaze, however, lingered on Till. Watching each twitch of his flustered face. It was clear he liked Mizi, and it was clear that made Sua seem... uneasy.

Ivan too was silent, his gaze flickering over to Till. After a moment, he cleared his throat to grab their attention, Mizi's blabbering coming to a quick halt. His usual smile quipped back on his face as he spoke.

“Y'know, Till, you should really get going to class.” Ivan's arm extended to wrap around Till's shoulder, similarly to how Mizi did. Till gave no protest to the action as he replied,

“...What are you on about? There's like, two minutes left until the bell rings.”

“And you have one tardy left until you get detention.” Ivan pushed a finger to Till's chest in a playfully accusatory manner.

Till opened his mouth to protest, yet quickly realised Ivan had a point. Begrudgingly, he agreed, “Ugh, fine, whatever.”

Ivan's hand went to grab the emo's and start dragging him along to his first period, much to the shorter man's complaint, with him doing so every second of their travel.

Mizi watched as the boys left, watching their steps until she turned her head down back to Sua—practically bouncing in place as she spoke, “So! We're alone now! Well like, besides the other people in the hallway...but that's fine, because I wanna let everyone know you're mine!”

She smiled brightly, holding Sua closer. She nuzzled her face into her hair, letting out a small hum at the subtle, yet pleasant smell she was familiar with.

Sua, meanwhile, fell silent for a second. She spoke not a word, just quietly allowing Mizi to be physically affectionate. Until she did speak.

“...Am I really yours though?” Her words were soft, softer than usual, as if they came out without thinking.

Mizi froze at the question, her face lifting from the soft black hair. Her smile faltered for the first time that day. “Huh? What do you mean? Of course you are?”

With one hand, she cupped the side of Sua's jaw, gently directing the black haired girl's head to be tilted up, looking at her.

Sua's eyes drifted away, her voice shifting to the same dismissive tone she always put on—it was sad, really. How she never seemed to want to confront anything, how she'd bottle it up until it was really an issue, “Nevermind.”

Mizi stared at her face for a moment, her smile gone from her expression at this point. Well, at least it was, before it quickly rejoined her lips, “Okay! Good!”

Sua gave no commentary. Really she looked more uneasy than anything, her body tensing inwardly, her already small frame shrinking backwards like she wanted to disappear.

“Aww, you're doing the cute shy thing again!” Mizi giggled out. Her fingers instinctively started to trace little gentle patterns against her cheek, her eyes narrowing at Sua in some form of adoration as she leaned closer to her ear. “You're so adorable.”

Sua didn't react, not in any noticeably positive way at least. If anything, she only shrunk back further.

But Mizi didn't notice any of that, no, she only noticed how fragile the other girl felt in her arms, the feeling of her skin underneath her fingertips.

I just—” Mizi's words were interrupted by the loud ringing of the bells yelling through the building, signifying the start of passing period, causing a startled mewl to leave her lips. “Oh! I almost forgot we were at school!”

“...Really?"

Mizi nodded, “Yeah, really! So... I'll walk you to class! As per usual, of course!”

Mizi withdrew her hands from their respective places on Sua's waist and face, yet their lack of contact didn't last long as one of her hands intertwined with Sua's much smaller one.

Promptly, she leaned down, pressing a small, almost tender kiss to the corner of Sua's lips. “C'mon, let's go.”

Sua only nodded, eliciting a content giggle from Mizi at her obedience. She only wasted a couple seconds admiring Sua before starting to walk in the direction of Sua's first class, dragging her without a lick of hesitation, like she was assuming that Sua wasn't going to resist. Naturally, she was right.

Even with how silent Sua fell during their walk, Mizi couldn't help the occasional glance at her. Even with how she had to greet every other student as they walked past, she couldn't help her mind being occupied only with the thought of Sua.

So adorable.

And all hers.
