The battle was over but everything was far from ok. Stiles stood alone in the ruins of the warehouse as Scott left with Alison not even bothering to check on his supposed best friend who had gone missing earlier that evening and been tortured. Derek, understandably upset at having his bodily autonomy stolen, had stormed out of the warehouse with Isaac in tow, off to lick his wounds. Stiles would have followed but he didn’t think his bruised ribs could take being pushed into a wall at the moment. Lydia and Jackson had left to try and sneak Jackson back into the hospital and come up with a story for his miraculous resurrection. Packless, friendless and utterly alone Stiles sat on the concrete floor staring sightlessly at the wreckage of his beloved Jeep.
“What are you doing here all alone, darling?” a familiar voice.
“Aren’t you supposed to be dead?” complained Stiles, turning to see the handsome and villainous Peter Hale standing over him. “When I kill someone I would generally like them to stay that way”.
“Death didn’t agree with me” shrugged the man elegantly, wiping his bloody claws with a handkerchief.
“So are you here to kill me?” asked Stiles, not really caring either way.
“Of course not, sweet boy. You’re far too valuable to kill, besides I can respect your actions as protecting your pack”
“If you’re not going to kill me, then what do you want?” asked Stiles.
“Why do you smell like Argent?” asked Peter, crouching down to take Stiles’ face in his large hand looking angrily at his black eye.
“Probably because the crazy grandpa granddaughter duo thought beating up the human would be a laugh”.
“Why would they take you?”
“Wow, feeling the love” snarked Stiles. “I was supposed to be a message to Scott to stay away from Alison, but given that he hardly looked at me I doubt it sunk in. I on the other hand have bruised ribs and need to find a way home as Roscoe might just be dead for good this time”. Despite himself, Stiles felt himself begin to tear up, the craziness of the day catching up to him.
“I should have ripped out his heart” snarled Peter furiously, releasing Stiles so that he could pace back and forth like a caged wild animal.
“Who’s?”
“Gerard, I spotted him slipping away after our darling Alpha Derek and failure of a wolf McCall didn’t finish the job. I wasn’t going to let him get away. I simply separated his head from his shoulders… but now I see I should have done more”
Stiles didn’t quite know what to do with all of that information so he just muttered a “thanks” and went back to staring at his broken jeep. He didn’t have the money to get it fixed, which was a problem given the amount of blood and black goo in the warehouse; the place looked like the crime scene it was. His jeep was unfortunately well known around town and he could already expect to have to lie to his dad about why his broken car was at the site of a violent crime scene.
“Are you planning to sit here all night darling or can we get a move on?” asked Peter with a judgemental eyebrow raised.
“We?!?”
“Yes, we. You didn’t seriously think I was going to just let you go off on your own when you’re clearly injured”
Stiles just stared at the man confused by his words and apparent concern.
“Seriously, Stiles, get up. You need medical attention and it’s only getting worse the longer you sit there” demanded Peter, reaching out and pulling the startled teenager to his feet.
“My jeep won’t start” muttered Stiles in shock, not knowing what else to say.
“We’ll take my car then” said Peter, steering Stiles by his shoulders out of the warehouse and to the side of the building where a fancy sportscar was waiting. Peter opened the passenger door and helped settle Stiles in the seat as the teen tried not to jostle his bruised ribs. Stiles was in too much pain and shock to snark about the current circumstances, which was saying something since he was the king of snark.
Peter climbed into the driver’s seat and started up the car before taking one of Stiles’ hands in his, immediately black veins started running up the wolf’s arm and Stiles felt a million times better.
“What are you doing?” asked Stiles feeling kind of high and floaty with his pain suddenly gone.
“It’s a simple pain drain, all wolves can do it” shared Peter. “You’re a human who runs with wolves, how have they never done this for you before?”
Stiles just looked down at his lap not wanting to answer that question as it was obvious enough… the wolves in his life had just not cared.
Peter let out a low growl clearly drawing the same conclusions as Stiles. “Is your father home, sweetheart?”
Stiles didn’t know what was up with all the pet names, but again he was too tired to care. “No, we had a fight over me lying about my injuries and he went back to the station” he replied sleepily the pain drain making him nod off.
“Well that makes getting your injuries looked at easier” said Peter pulling up outside the sheriff’s house and putting the car in park.
Peter let go of Stiles long enough to get out of the car and all of the pain from his injuries rushed back, making him hiss.
“Come on sweet boy, on your feet, you just need to stay awake a little while longer” coaxed Peter, helping Stiles to his feet and starting the pain drain again as they walked into the house.
Stiles watched in a detached manner as Peter fussed over his injuries, re-covering the ones which had started to bleed again due to the car crash and wrapping his ribs tightly. “Besides the black eye, did you take any other hits to the head?” checked Peter.
“No, I know to protect my head. So no chance of concussion… how do you know how to do all of this?”
“My old pack wasn’t just wolves, Talia’s husband was human and so were my brother and one of my nieces” explained the wolf, helping Stiles lie down under the covers. Peter took the chair next to the bed and continued the steady pain drain despite having given Stiles human pain killers as they would take a while to kick in.
“How is that possible?”
“Wolves don’t always give birth to new wolves, sometimes the babies are human. And as you know you don’t have to be a wolf to be part of a pack”.
“Not that there’s much of a pack anymore, Scott betrayed Derek, Boyd and Erica ran away… BOYD AND ERICA!” shouted Stiles, sitting up quickly and letting out a whine of pain as he jostled his ribs.
“Shhh, sweetheart. Lay back down” urged Peter.
“No! We have to do something! Boyd and Erica are still in danger!” worried Stiles.
“Derek’s wayward pups? He thought they left town… foolish of them”.
“They were trying to but then Alison went psycho and shot them before tying them up and torturing them in her basement” explained Stiles. “They said they wanted to come back and that they had made a big mistake… well that was after I ranted at them for a while about how dumb they were being. When Gerard’s goons dropped me off at my house they were still tied up in the basement. We need to go get them!”
“You need to rest” stressed Peter, pushing Stiles lightly but firmly back down onto his pillows.
“But!”
“No buts. You rest and I will go find the wayward pups. You are in no state to fight anymore Argents” promised Peter.
“Why would you…?”
“Stay here and rest, I will find your lost pups”
“They’re not mine” grumbled Stiles, relaxing back into his pillows knowing that Peter was right.
“Yeah right, rest now momma wolf. I’ll be back soon with the pups” teased the man, before exiting via Stiles’ window.
“Not a momma wolf” huffed Stiles as he nodded off to sleep, the pain meds finally kicking in and drawing him under.

Stiles woke the next morning feeling extremely hot and crowded in his bed. Worried he’d developed a fever he cracked open his aching eyes and was confused when all he could see was lots of wavy blonde hair.
“Erica?” he asked with a croaky voice. Feeling someone moving behind him, Stiles turned his head to see Boyd looking back at him. “Boyd!?!”
“I told you I would bring your pups home, momma wolf” said Peter from his chair beside the bed, flashing his eyes at Stiles, they were a shocking alpha red.
“Your eyes were blue last night,” pointed out Stiles, confused, sitting up stiffly.
“Yes, your wayward pups had gotten themselves into quite the tricky situation with an old friend of mine… let’s just say that Ennis didn’t succeed in getting away with your pups”.
Stiles looked down at the two quiet wolves curled around his body. “Thank you for bringing them home”
“Of course sweetheart. Now let me check your wounds, off now pups” ordered Peter.
The highschoolers quickly followed the new Alpha’s orders, letting go of Stiles and allowing Peter access to the human.
Stiles tried to protest Peter’s attention, but the wolf just growled him into submission. Sitting quietly Stiles let Peter rewrap his ribs and check on his other wounds.
“I’ll pick up some healing herbs while you three are at school today” declared Peter, pulling Stiles’ shirt back down.
“Ugh, we’ll have to take the bus since Roscoe is toast” whined Stiles.
“What happened to your jeep?” asked Boyd, his voice deeper with sleep.
“I drove it through a wall and hit Jackson with it. Don't worry he deserved it”.
“Yeah that was never in question… he’s a douche”
“Well he’s a real wolf now so I guess he’s a part of your pack now” sighed Stiles.
“No way! He’s Derek’s problem” insisted Erica.
“Yeah… so he’s pack”
“Derek’s pack,” scoffed the girl. “Not mine”
“Huh?”
“Derek isn’t our Alpha any more. He’s not the one who saved us” explained Boyd. “Derek can keep Isaac and Jackson. We’re done with him”
“Huh, ok” said Stiles looking between the three wolves. “I don’t know how having two packs in Beacon Hills will work but I’m sure we can figure it out”
“Leave the negotiating to me sweetheart. I will meet with my wayward nephew while you’re at school and hash out the details with him then” said Peter, his eyes gleaming alpha red.
“Ok, if we’re going to school then we better get ready for the day. Boyd I think some of my dad’s clothes will fit you and Erica you can borrow some of mine” declared Stiles, heading to his dad’s room to get a change of clothes for the taller boy.
The group changed and had a quick breakfast before piling into Peter’s sports car. Stiles had tried to protest the man taking them to school, but the wolf had argued that it was his responsibility as Alpha to look after his pack and that included giving them a ride while Stiles’ jeep was out of order. Peter argued with Stiles about letting him pay for the repairs with the teen eventually giving in because he honestly didn’t have the money.
When they arrived at the high school, Peter directed the three to stick together throughout the day and have each other's backs. Stiles was confused by the wolves’ actions but it appeared that he had been adopted overnight into the small pack. Waving goodbye to Peter, Stiles led his apparent pups into the school building just in time for homeroom. Despite the aches and pains of his injuries, with Erica and Boyd by his side Stiles felt better than he ever had since this whole supernatural mess began.
