Work Header

you can start a family who will always show you love (you don't have to be sorry, no)

Summary:

Buck frowned and glanced back into the bedroom to ensure Eddie was still asleep (he was) before walking back down the hall to the living room. He wasn’t sure who could be visiting before six-thirty in the morning, but he hoped it was just a neighbor, so he swung the door open and froze because there, standing on the front porch, were Helena and Ramon Diaz.

Eddie’s parents. Who didn’t even know Eddie was gay. Much less living with another man.

A man who was currently standing in front of them shirtless. With very obvious hickeys on his collarbone and hips.

Fuck. Fucking shit. Motherfucking shit.

OR

It's Chris' birthday and Eddie's parents make a surprise visit.

Notes:

This was longer than I thought it was going to be so it took me a little longer to write. Also classes for my second term of my Masters started this week so I also had to work on that.

But here we are! Eddie's parents finding out about Buck!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Moving in with Chris and Eddie was a quick and mostly painless process. He wasn’t on the lease at his current place and he didn’t have much to begin with - mostly just his clothes, toiletries, and some mementos from his travels. The furniture came with the rented room, and he used the communal kitchen equipment so he was out of his old place and living with his boyfriend within two days.

It wasn’t perfect - they had to figure out some new routines with Buck there all the time. Eddie preferred morning showers, but Chris and Buck liked to wash off the day before bed; Buck liked to go for a run in the morning, but they had to make sure Chris got to school and they got to work on time. It was also an adjustment for Chris and Buck and their relationship. Buck and Eddie had talked it through thoroughly on a date before they officially lived together - Buck was not Christopher’s parent. He was not even a stepparent yet, but he was an adult and sometimes he was in charge of him. He would defer big decisions to Eddie, and not dole out any kind of discipline. They made sure to talk it over with Chris as well and let him decide any boundaries for himself but he liked what they came up with - he respected Buck and would listen when asked to do something, but he wasn’t going to ask Buck permission to do things, that would still fall to Eddie.

While it had taken them a couple weeks to work all the kinks out, Buck was on cloud fucking nine. He fell asleep with Eddie every single night, cuddling his boyfriend. He woke up to Eddie pressing syrup-sweet kisses all over his face. He hung out with two of his favorite people every single day and he had never been happier.

And now that he lived with Eddie, he was more involved in his life than ever. Chris’ birthday was coming up - it was on a weekday that they had off, thankfully, so they were going to go out for dinner wherever he wanted - and then that Friday night his friends were coming over to play video games and consume far too much pizza and soda. And Buck was helping with all of it.

The morning of Chris’ actual birthday - fifteen years old (Buck had had to comfort Eddie the night before while he cried over his baby being fifteen) - Buck got up early, pressing a gentle kiss to Eddie’s head so as not to wake him, and grabbed his running gear and headed to the bathroom. Part of their new routine was that Buck would only go on morning runs on days they had off work. So Buck got ready, slid his phone in his pocket and headphones in his ears, and took off out the front door, locking it behind him.

The run was calm - it was early enough that there weren’t many others awake, so Buck only saw a couple of his new neighbors - and lasted an entire episode of the science podcast he was listening to. By the time he made it home (home!), it was still early enough that Eddie and Chris were asleep, so Buck slipped inside quietly. He toed his shoes off at the door and stripped his shirt off as he made his way down the hall to the bedroom, throwing it in the laundry basket before grabbing his clothes for the day.

He leaned down over the mattress to kiss Eddie’s temple where he was still curled up under their comforter, smiling fondly at the sleep-soft expression on his face. Just as he was crossing the hall to the bathroom to rinse off the sweat and get dressed, there was a knock on the front door. He frowned and glanced back into the bedroom to ensure Eddie was still asleep (he was) before walking back down the hall to the living room.

“Uh, hi,” Buck smiled awkwardly. Both Helena and Ramon looked at him quizzically.

“I’m sorry, I…our son lives here. Eddie Diaz,” Helena said shortly. “Who…who are you?”

“He does,” Buck nodded. “He’s uh…he’s still asleep. I’m gonna…I’ll go wake him up. Please - please come in.” He moved out of the way, allowing the two to step inside so he could shut the door. “I’ll be - I’ll be right back.” Buck walked down the hall as quickly as he could, burst into his and Eddie’s bedroom, and threw himself on the bed.

“What the-”

“Eddie you have to get the fuck up right now!” Buck whisper-yelled, eyes wide with panic. “Now!”

“Buck, baby, what the fuck is happening?” Eddie grumbled as he sat up, Buck half straddling him.

“Your parents are in the living room, that’s what’s happening!” Buck took a deep breath. “They just…they just showed up. And I answered the door. Like this!” he gestured to himself frantically. Eddie stared up at him, mouth hanging open as processed everything with his brain at only half functioning.

“My parents are here?” Eddie repeated, rubbing his eyes. “Like here here. In LA?”

“In the fucking living room, Eddie!” Buck hissed. Eddie stared at him for a long moment before he finally seemed to get it, gasping.

“Shit shit shit!” he muttered, sitting up all the way. “What the fuck? Why are they here?”

“I don’t know, I didn’t get that far!” Buck rolled off of Eddie and laid on his back on his side of the bed. “What do we do?”

“I don’t think there’s anything we really can do but go out there and face the music. It’s not like I can sneak you out the window.”

“Well…” Buck raised his eyebrows.

“They already saw you,” Eddie reminded him. “They know you’re here. Why aren’t you wearing a shirt?”

“I just got back from my run. I was gonna take a quick shower to rinse the sweat off,” Buck explained, thinking back to how much simpler life was then.

“Okay. Okay, you’re going to do that, which gives me a chance to talk to my parents without you there,” Eddie said decisively. “So I can explain everything. Come out to them. Tell them I’m a cradle robber.”

“For fuck’s sake, Eds, you are not a cradle robber, I’m 26,” Buck groaned, pushing himself up and off the bed.

“That’s not how they’ll see it, I’m sure,” Eddie groaned. “Okay. You go shower and everything, I will go talk to my parents.”

“Are you sure? I can come out there with you,” Buck bit his lip, grabbing Eddie’s hand.

“I’m sure. It’s honestly probably better if you’re not there when I tell them. I don’t want them to say shit to your face,” Eddie moved to kneel on the bed and leaned in to kiss him softly. Buck melted into the touch, only pulling away when Eddie did first. “Go.”

“Okay, okay,” Buck conceded and walked out of the room. He glanced down the hallway to see Helena and Ramon staring right at him. With a very dignified shriek, Buck rushed into the bathroom and slammed the door.

***

Eddie took a few deep breaths after he heard the bathroom door shut before he finally got out of bed. He was dressed in a pair of pajama pants and one of Buck’s oversized shirts so he told himself he was already deep in shit, so what could a little more hurt, and walked out to greet his parents.

“Mom, Dad, hi,” Eddie said blandly as he walked down the hall. “What are you guys doing here in LA? And at my house so early?”

“It’s Christopher’s birthday,” Helena said as if it was obvious. “We wanted to surprise him. Spend the day with him.”

“He has school, Mom,” Eddie frowned. “You can’t spend the day with him.”

“You’re not pulling him out for the day?” Ramon asked, narrowing his eyes slightly and Eddie couldn’t help but scoff.

“Are you kidding me? When I asked if I could skip school on my sixteenth birthday, you told me there was no way in hell that I was skipping because nothing is more important than your education, Edmundo, not even your birthday,” Eddle imitated his father, glaring at the pair of them. “He’s got a quiz today, he wants to see his friends, he’s going to school.” He pushed past his parents to get to the kitchen - he needed coffee and he needed it five minutes ago. They followed him in, though they didn’t say anything, leaving an awkward silence for the five minutes it took to make his coffee. “Are you gonna ask?”

His mom looked between him and his father before clearing her throat. “Who was that man? Is he Christopher’s aide because I thought that was a woman and should he really be here before you’re even awake, walking around like that-”

“That was my boyfriend,” Eddie interrupted her. “Buck. His name is Buck. He’s my boyfriend.” Both his parents were silent, staring at him in shock so Eddie took a long pull from his mug.

“B-boyfriend?” his mom stumbled over her words, blinking rapidly. “Since - what?”

“I’m gay,” Eddie continued. “I’ve been gay my entire life. I knew for sure when I wanted to kiss Carlos, my best friend in middle school. But I shoved it down. I repressed it until I had buried it under layers and layers of Catholic guilt and desperation to please you. And I finally dug it out. I came out about a year and a half ago.”

“You’re not…you were married to Shannon. You dated Ana and Marisol,” Ramon argued, face turning a vicious shade of red, the way Eddie’s knew his own did.

“The repression ran deep, Dad,” Eddie said simply. “I’m gay. I always have been, even if I didn’t admit it. I will always be gay.”

“You cannot…you need to give Christopher a strong maternal figure in his life,” Helena said sternly. “And since you moved out here, it can’t be me.”

“He has strong maternal figures in his life, Mom. He has multiple even. He doesn’t need me to marry another woman and give him a step-mom, he has a mom, Shannon being dead doesn’t change that,” Eddie was tired of having this same argument over and over. “And that doesn’t have anything to do with my sexuality.”

“Does Chris know?” Ramon asked warily. Eddie rolled his eyes and dropped his head back against the cabinet.

“Of course he knows. He was the first person I came out to after I figured it out.”

“Are you sure that he’s okay with it? Because it must have been traumatizing for him to learn that you never really loved his mother-” his mother’s tone was the usual condescending snark that he had grown up listening to.

“Stop talking,” Eddie cut her off sharply. “You are not going to talk about Shannon that way. Even if I wasn’t in love with her I still loved her. I still respected her and cared about her. I didn’t traumatize my son by telling him I’m gay.”

“But did you traumatize him with your so-called boyfriend?” his dad asked, gesturing to the front door where they had first seen him. “I mean, really, Edmundo, how old is that boy?”

“Oh my god,” Eddie mumbled under his breath. “I met Buck through work. Chris met Buck before we got together. They knew each other for a couple months, they were even friends. They still are friends. I never would have dated Buck, or anyone for that matter, if Chris wasn’t okay with it. With them.”

“How do you know Chris isn’t lying to you?” his mom prodded. “And you didn’t answer your father’s question. How old is he?”

“He’s 26,” Eddie snapped. “And I know Chris isn’t lying to me. Because Chris and I actually communicate. We talk about the important stuff. We went to therapy to make sure that we were good at it.”

26,” Helena gasped. “Eddie, what were you thinking? He…he’s far too young for you!”

“It’s seven years, Mom, it’s not like’s fresh out of high school! He’s an adult who can make his own decisions. He asked me out to begin with!”

“So he manipulated you?” his dad accused and Eddie closed his eyes, taking a deep breath before he fully kicked his parents out of his house. “He made you believe that you were - were gay-”

“I was gay before I met Buck!” Eddie shouted, frustrated as all fuck. “I was gay before I met him, I’m gay whether I’m dating him, or any other man, or not dating anyone at all!”

“Sorry to interrupt,” Buck said from the doorway, freshly showered, drawing all attention to him. “But Chris is getting dressed right now and will be out in just a minute, so unless you want him to hear all this, you gotta stop.”

“Who are you to-”

“Stop,” Eddie ordered his mom. “We’re done. Chris is not going to listen to this. If you really want we can continue after he’s left for school.” Eddie paused to take a deep breath. “Are you hungry? Do you want breakfast? We were gonna make pancakes for Chris.”

“That would be nice. Having breakfast with you and Chris,” Helena smiled tightly.

“And Buck,” Eddie corrected her. “Why don’t you two go to the living room? Buck and I can handle the food.” Thankfully they took the out, and Buck quickly moved out of the doorway, letting them pass, and when he entered after, he shut the door behind him. “Holy shit.”

“Were they absolutely awful?” Buck wrapped his arms around Eddie’s waist to pull him close, kissing his forehead.

“It could have been worse,” Eddie admitted. “They could have told me I was going to Hell, but they just accused me of traumatizing Christopher and being manipulated.”

“Manipulated?”

“Yeah, by you. You’re so much younger and you asked me out, so you had to somehow manipulate me into saying yes and being in a relationship with you,” Eddie groaned and tucked his head in Buck’s neck. This was not what he wanted to be dealing with on his son’s birthday - to be fair, it’s not what he ever wanted to deal with, but this day was especially shitty.

“I don’t know…” Buck trailed off teasingly. “If anyone was manipulated, I think it was me. I walked in on my first day, a brand new probationary firefighter, and knew that you were the hottest thing I had ever seen. Tight ass, mustache, big brown doe eyes? I was gone for you the moment I laid eyes on you.” Eddie smiled a little at that and kissed the underside of Buck’s jaw, letting himself bask in the embrace of his boyfriend as he heard Chris exclaim in surprise when he saw his grandparents.

“We need to get started on those pancakes,” Eddie groaned and finally pulled away from Buck. “You wanna cut up the fruit?” Buck agreed, and they had breakfast ready not too long after that. Eddie took the plate piled high with pancakes into the dining room and called for his parents and Chris to come sit down while Buck brought out all the toppings. It was a bit much, Eddie realized, but he knew Buck liked to spoil Chris.

Eddie drug out one of the kitchen chairs and set it up right next to his so they were sharing a side of the too-small table. Chris was on their left, his dad on their right, and his mom opposite them. When they finally all sat down, Buck was pressed against Eddie’s side from foot to knee to shoulder. Eddie saw the pained look that crossed his mom’s face when she noted their seating arrangement, but he was never going to bring that shit up in front of Chris.

“So, Christopher, you haven’t told us your plans for today yet,” his mom said brightly. “What are you getting up to?”

“School,” Chris shrugged. “I have a history quiz that I don’t wanna have to make up and my friends told me I had to come to school today so we could celebrate at lunch.”

“You don’t wanna take the day off?” Helena suggested. “We could take you out wherever you wanna go.” Eddie was grateful that Buck slid his hand on his thigh at that exact moment because he thought for sure he was going to lose it.

“No, I wanna go to school,” Chris reiterated. “These pancakes are good, Dad.”

“I used Karen’s recipe,” Eddie offered, smiling softly. “Happy birthday, mijo.”

“Yeah, happy birthday, kid,” Buck echoed. “I’d say I can’t believe how big you’re getting, but you’ve literally been the same height the entire time I’ve known you.”

“Thanks Dad, thanks Buck,” Chris accepted Buck’s fist bump with a laugh.

“What about after school?” Helena suggested. “We could take you out to dinner.”

“Dad and Buck are taking me out. But you could come with us?” Chris looked over at Eddie. “Right, Dad?”

“Of course,” Eddie agreed immediately. “Whatever you want.”

“So does that mean I can get my gifts now?” Chris negotiated, but Eddie shook his head.

“Not at all. You will get them tonight at dinner.” Chris sighed exaggeratedly but didn’t argue any further.

“Eddie, I think he should be able to have his gifts now,” his dad interjected. “We’ve got it in the car, I’ll go get it.”

“No, he’s getting them at dinner,” Eddie denied immediately. “It’s what I decided. Chris knows that, he’s just being a smart ass.”

“Eddie!” Helena gasped. “That is no way to talk to your son!”

“I remember you two calling me a lot worse at his age,” Eddie raised his eyebrows, relaxing a little when Buck squeezed his knee.

“Uh, Chris, finish up, we gotta leave in five minutes to get you to school,” Buck said, checking his watch. “Your backpack ready to go?”

“Almost, my math homework is still on my desk,” Chris moved to get up but Buck waved him off.

“I’ll grab it, you finish eating,” Buck stood, “but this offer is only good today, got it?”

“Got it,” Chris agreed, and Eddie watched as Buck rounded the corner into the hallway. “Are you coming with us, Dad?”

“No, I’m gonna stay here and clean up,” Eddie said and stood, leaning over to kiss Chris’ head. “Te quiero mucho, mijo.”

“Love you too,” Chris said, smiling up at him.

“Alright, kid, you ready?” Buck reappeared in the doorway, Chris’ red backpack slung over his shoulder, crutches in his other hand.

“Yep,” Chris carefully stood and walked over to Buck and let him help slide his crutches onto his arms. “Bye Grandma, bye Abuelo.” Eddie picked up the empty plates and took them into the kitchen to rinse off, but was distracted when footsteps followed him. He turned just in time for Buck to pull him into a kiss, big arms wrapping around his waist.

“Hmm, what was that for?” Eddie asked, giggling a little as they separated.

“I’m gonna miss you while I’m gone,” Buck answered, kissing along his jaw. “You want me to stop and pick you up anything on the way home?”

“No, I’m good baby, but thank you,” Eddie reached up and cupped Buck’s face, kissing him once more. “Now go, before you make him late.” Buck snuck in one more kiss before finally leaving, and a minute later, Eddie heard the front door shut and the Jeep engine rumble to life.

Eddie took his time rinsing all the plates and cutlery before loading them into the dishwasher; he took long enough that his parents brought their dishes in. Eddie didn’t say anything as he took them, and neither did they. The kitchen was silent save for the clink of metal against ceramic until he had finished and turned to face his parents. “So?”

“What do you want us to say, Edmundo?” his father sighed, rubbing his forehead. “We come here for our grandson’s birthday, and suddenly you’re gay and dating a man?”

“It’s not sudden. I told you, I’ve known since middle school. I came out a year and a half ago. Buck and I have been dating for six months. I just didn’t tell you,” Eddie said calmly.

“And why didn’t you tell us? We’re your parents, we deserve to know what’s going on in your life!” his mom shouted, huffing as Eddie rolled his eyes.

“I wonder, Mom, why I didn’t tell you I was gay or dating a man. Maybe it’s because as soon as you found out, you accused me of traumatizing my own son!”

“Chris doesn’t know any gay people, he’s probably scared-” Eddie laughed. He laughed because he knew his parents were ignorant, but he truly wasn’t expecting that. “What, Eddie? What is so funny about that statement?”

“How in the world did you reach that conclusion?” Eddie asked, shaking his head. “His best friend’s parents? Two lesbians. One of my best friends, someone Chris has known since was seven, is bisexual. One of his best friends is non-binary, another is queer, and the last one is pansexual. And those are just the people closest to him. We live in LA. We’ve gone to the Pride Parade every year since we moved. I’ve taken him to Drag shows. His last ex-girlfriend broke up with him for a girl. Chris is surrounded by queer people and culture every single day and was long before I came out to him.” Eddie leaned forward against the table and sighed.

“But none of that means he’s okay with you-”

“When I came out to him, he told me it was about time,” Eddie looked up at his mother, staring her down. “He said that he’s suspected since I broke up with Marisol. When I started bringing Buck around, Chris knew I was into him before I ever asked, and immediately gave me his approval. Stop using my son as your scapegoat for homophobia. If you have a problem with me being gay, just fucking say it.”

“Of course, I have a problem with it!” Helena snapped. “It’s - it’s not natural! God-”

“God is not my concern,” Eddie shrugged. “Considering I stopped believing he existed the second I stepped foot in an Afghan desert and saw a child murdered in cold blood just because they were on the other team.”

“Edmundo,” Ramon actually looked concerned, rather than the fury Eddie thought he would see. “We…we can fix all this. If you just come home.”

“And there it is! The crux of it all - you want me back under your thumb,” Eddie laughed humorlessly. “I’m not moving. I have a life here in LA. A career, friends, family, and yes, my boyfriend.”

“You could have all that in El Paso,” his mom tried. “And your boyfriend - you say you’ve only been with him for six months. That’s not very long, you’ll move on and find someone-”

“I love him,” Eddie cut her off. “I love him more than I’ve ever loved anybody, except Chris.”

“You’re just caught up in the newness of it all,” Helena argued. “Just come home for a couple of weeks and you’ll see.”

“He lives here, Mom. He moved in. I’m not changing my mind about him. Buck is the best person I’ve ever met, and I am going to marry him one day. If you can’t accept that…then you don’t have to talk to me. Or call me. But I’ll make sure to extend you the same courtesy.”

“Eddie, don’t be rash,” Ramon warned and Eddie shook his head.

“I’m not being rash. I’m telling you the reality of the situation. I’m gay. I’m in love with Buck. He and Christopher are my priorities. Not you two.”

“So you’re just going to cut us out of your and Chris’ lives?” his mom asked, voice shaking.

“Not at all. Christopher has his own phone, he can contact you whenever he wants. I won’t block you. But if you can’t accept me for who I am, I won’t be putting in any effort,” Eddie shrugged. “I’ll text you the details for dinner tonight, but for now, I’d like you to leave.”

“Eddie-”

“Leave,” Eddie repeated, staring at the pair.

“Edmundo, really-”

“He asked you to leave,” Buck said from the kitchen doorway. He was standing at his full height, arms crossed over his chest, glaring Helena and Ramon down.

“You have no right-”

“Actually, as you just found out, this is his house too,” Eddie corrected his mom. “My boss’s wife is a police sergeant. Please don’t make me call her for trespassing.” Helena gasped, muttering something under her breath as she took his father’s arm and pulled him from the house. Neither Buck nor Eddie moved until the door was shut, and then Buck rushed over, taking Eddie into his arms as he let out a wrecked sob.

“It’s okay, Eds, I’m here, I’ve got you,” Buck whispered, one hand coming up to scratch his scalp soothingly. “Everything’s gonna be okay.” Eddie let himself break a little, burying his face in Buck’s shoulder as tears welled in his eyes and his body shook.

“I don’t know why I care so much about what they think,” Eddie finally whispered, voice thick with snot and tears.

“Because they’re your parents, Eds. I know if my parents somehow showed up here, I would be doing whatever I could to get their approval,” Buck sighed and pulled back a little. “Wanna go lay down?”

“Yes please,” Eddie agreed and let Buck lead him to their bedroom, tucking himself as close as he could once they were lying on the bed.

“So…” Buck started. “You’re gonna marry me one day?”

“You heard that?” Eddie stared at him, eyes wide as he tried to determine what Buck was feeling but all he could tell was that his boyfriend seemed…smug?

“Walked in right before that,” Buck confirmed. “I wanna marry you too. Not…not anytime soon. But I love you. I’ve never felt like I had a home…until I found you.” Eddie surged forward and pressed a kiss to Buck’s lips, ignoring that his own face was covered in tears and likely snot.

“I love you too,” Eddie whispered when they finally broke apart. “Will you…I need you close.”

“Yeah?” Buck raised his eyebrows, and Eddie nodded. Buck rolled them sideways so Eddie was lying on his back in the middle of their bed and then sat up, stripping his shirt off and tossing it to the side. “C’mon, Eds, your turn.”

Eddie sat up and pulled his shirt over his head, and when Buck moved off of him, raised his hips so they could his bottoms off as well, leaving him completely naked. “You’re so fucking pretty,” Buck muttered, leaning in to kiss him, one hand running up and down his chest, fingers tangling slightly in his chest hair and brushing over his happy trail. “Can’t believe I get to keep you.”

Eddie watched as Buck shoved his jeans and underwear off, leaving him naked as well - and Eddie really fucking hit the jackpot with him. Buck’s muscle and fat made him so big, so easy to grab onto and hold, his thighs were like fucking tree trunks and he could pick up Eddie with no problem, and his cock - his cock was fucking heaven. Literally.

“Baby, c’mon,” Eddie spread his legs in invitation, one that Buck eagerly responded to, laying between his thighs. Buck kissed up his stomach and chest, veering off to the side to lick his nipple while reaching for the lube in the nightstand drawer. Eddie whined, dropping his against the pillows as Buck took his time, returning his lips to his chest, kissing across to his other nipple. “Buck…”

“I’ve got you, Eds,” Buck promised, throwing his left leg over Eddie’s right, making space. Then he pushed Eddie’s left knee out to the side, really spreading him open and giving him quick access. “So fucking easy for me.”

“I am,” Eddie admitted, nodding quickly. “Buck, baby-” he moaned as Buck slid two fingers into him, warm and slick. He crooked them, immediately finding his prostate and stroking it with the pads of both digits. Eddie shuddered, hips pushing down into the stimulation. “More, Buck, give me more.”

Buck chuckled lightly as he retracted his fingers, only to slide in a third as well, stretching Eddie out, and spreading his fingers inside him. Buck’s fingers were long and thick, filling him up nicely, but not enough. “Buck, more. I - I need your cock.”

“I know, Eds, I know, I’m getting there,” Buck swore, sliding his fingers free after a few more minutes of pouting and complaining. Eddie watched as Buck squeezed some lube on his hand and pumped his length a few times, slicking it up. Eddie grabbed both his legs by the knee and held them up so Buck could position himself between them. Eddie gasped as he rubbed the head of his cock against his stretched hole a few times before finally pushing in, but just the tip.

Eddie huffed a little and wriggled his hips as he tried to encourage Buck to move, get him deeper. “Buck, if you don’t-“

“Alright, alright,” Buck relented, adjusting his position a little, spreading his legs, and putting his weight on his knees to lean forward over Eddie, covering him entirely. Eddie let go of his legs, hitching them over Buck’s hips instead and wrapping his arms around his chest instead, digging his nails into his boyfriend’s broad shoulders.

Buck’s cock inched deeper with the movement, and they pressed chest to chest, Buck’s head tucked into Eddie’s neck. There was a small gap between their stomachs, giving Buck the space to roll his hips into Eddie’s ass, burying his length as deep as possible. “Baby…” Eddie’s voice trembled as he clenched around Buck’s girth.

Buck barely pulled out, keeping them as close as possible as he rolled his hips instead, and Eddie whimpered - it felt like his spine was on fire, and his entire being was burning from the lack of space between them. Buck repeated the movement, and Eddie reveled in the intimacy, panting as Buck’s cock fucked into him, the majority of his length staying inside. Buck’s thrusts weren’t too fast, more focused on ensuring they stayed as close to each other as they could.

Eddie moved one of his hands up to tangle in Buck’s curls at the back of his head, using that as an anchor as his mind floated further and further away. The only thing he could perceive was the feel of Buck’s skin on his, the slick of their shared sweat, and the stretch of his hole around Buck’s cock. He barely even noticed his pleasure was peaking until he was crying Buck’s name and spilling between them, covering his own stomach in small puddles of white.

Buck followed seconds later, filling Eddie with his come until it was seeping out around him. Just as Buck was about to start pulling out, Eddie crossed his ankles around his back and held him close. “What-”

“Stay in me,” Eddie whispered, petting his hand down Buck’s back. “Wanna just…lay here like this.” Buck nodded and adjusted their limbs a little until they could lay comfortably while his cock stayed snug inside Eddie, Buck’s entire weight pressing down on him. Eddie’s eyes fluttered shut as he clung to his boyfriend and after a few minutes, he was drifting off, lulled by the comfort of having Buck surrounding him.

***

Buck and Eddie both went to pick up Chris after school, going through a drive-through to get him his favorite smoothie on the way home as well. He had a few small gifts from his friends that he showed them in the car - a new phone case with his favorite video game character on it, a few bags of his favorite candy, and a gift card to his preferred game store.

Eddie had texted his mom earlier with the details for dinner - where to meet them and when - and they didn’t need to get to the restaurant for another couple of hours. “Anything you wanna do before dinner?”

Chris thought about it for a long moment before deciding he wanted to go to an arcade that was about thirty minutes with traffic, and it wasn’t too far from the diner that he picked for dinner. Once they arrived, Eddie handed Chris a twenty-dollar bill and told him they would be leaving in an hour. Chris took the money with a grin and was off, Buck was sure to one of the racing games as those were the kids’ favorite.

“And what are we gonna do for the next hour?” Buck asked, reaching over to slide his hand into Eddie’s back pocket, using it to tug him closer.

“There are pool tables in the back corner,” Eddie suggested, smirking up at him. “We could…wager something?”

“Oh?” Buck raised a single eyebrow, licking his lips. Whatever Eddie picked was going to be good, so much so that Buck might throw the game on purpose. “And what do you suggest we wager?”

“Hmm…” Eddie tugged Buck’s collar until he was leaning down, bringing his ear to Eddie’s lips. “How about the winner gets…unlimited blowjobs for a week? Whenever, wherever.” Buck’s grin widened and he tilted his head to capture Eddie’s lips in a kiss.

“Deal,” he muttered against his lips. “Let’s go.” Buck let Eddie lead him to the back of the arcade (they spotted Chris on the way, and as expected he was sitting at one of the racing games) to the three pool tables, all of them empty. Eddie picked the one in the far corner, choosing a cue from the wall.

“I’ll let you break,” Eddie offered, gesturing to the table, standing on the side. Buck grabbed his own cue and walked around Eddie, letting his hand graze his boyfriend’s ass. He lined up carefully and took the shot, breaking the triangle with a satisfying crack. As their match proceeded, Buck honestly didn’t pay too much attention to who was winning or losing - he was too distracted by Eddie - leaning over and bending down to take his shot gave Buck the best view of his ass.

It was only when Eddie was going for the 8-ball that Buck realized that he still had three to sink. Oops.

“Corner pocket,” he called, and very easily made the shot, ending the game. “I believe that’s my win.”

“I believe it is,” Buck conceded, rounding the pool table to stand in front of Eddie, leaning on the edge. “So…unlimited blowjobs for a week? Starting now.”

“Starting now,” Eddie agreed, stepping between his legs. “But unfortunately, not here. I am not getting caught with my dick in your mouth in an arcade bathroom; much less while my son is here.” Buck shuddered at the idea and nodded. “We’ve still got about half an hour left. Wanna play another round or go do something else?”

“Let’s go find another game I can kick your ass in,” Eddie took both their cues and slid them back into their slots on the wall rack while Buck reracked the balls, taking Eddie’s hand once he was finished. They wandered down the aisles of games, not finding anything either of them wanted to play. As they were passing the claw machines, Eddie got distracted by one that had a stuffed kangaroo and Buck didn’t hesitate as he pulled out his wallet, sliding a dollar in the slot.

“Buck, what-”

“Shush, I’m concentrating,” Buck turned all his attention on the claw machine, biting his lip as he aimed for the kangaroo - he managed to pick it up but it only moved a few inches before falling again.

“Buck, I do not-”

“Quiet,” Buck ordered. “I told you, I’m concentrating.” It took Buck four more tries before he finally dropped the stuffed animal over the opening. He bent down and retrieved it, handing it over to Eddie with a big smile. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” Eddie rolled his eyes as he took the kangaroo, but Buck saw the pleased flush of his cheeks as he held it close to his chest. “Oh!” Eddie giggled a little as he opened the pouch to reveal a tiny stuffed baby kangaroo.

“Look at that, it’s got a joey,” Buck smiled and wrapped his arm around Eddie’s waist as they continued down the aisle. It wasn’t much longer before they had to get going so they set off to search for Chris instead and found him at a pinball machine.

“C’mon kid, finish this game, and then it’s time to go,” Eddie clapped Chris on the shoulder to ensure he heard and then leaned back against Buck’s chest as they waited and watched. Buck wrapped his arms around Eddie’s waist, laying them flat against his lower stomach, kissing the back of his head.

“You know, it should be a rule my dad isn’t allowed to be gross with his boyfriend on my birthday,” Chris said without looking away from his game. Eddie gasped loudly and dropped his head back on Buck’s shoulder, winking at him.

“My own son, betraying me in such a way. I thought you wanted me to be happy, Christopher? I thought you were grateful that I had found love after I have been through so much-”

“Oh my god, will you please shut up?” Chris begged, turning to them as he finished with his game, sliding his crutches around his arms. “Let’s go, now.”

“I don’t know if I can walk,” Eddie grasped his chest with one hand. “The pain that you have caused. Buck, you’ll have to carry me.” Buck adjusted his hold immediately and picked Eddie up in a bridal carry, which neither Eddie nor Chris were expecting. Eddie yelped and grabbed onto Buck’s neck, mouth gaping. “I didn’t-”

“Oh I know, exactly why I did it,” Buck smirked and began following Chris out - though the kid was already a good twenty feet away, surely blushing the same bright red his dad was. Chris was waiting by the truck when they got out to the parking lot, Buck setting Eddie on his feet next to the passenger door, kissing his cheek before rounding the hood to get in the driver's seat.

“You two are so embarrassing,” Chris groaned. “I’m not ever going anywhere with you two ever again.” Buck met Eddie’s eyes, both grinning, and Buck was - once again - hit with how fucking pretty his boyfriend was, and how much he wanted those sharp canines sinking into his skin.

“Then I guess we should just go home and forget about your birthday dinner?” Eddie asked teasingly, even as Buck pulled out of the parking lot and headed toward the diner. Chris grumbled something under his breath but Eddie just smiled, laying his hand on Buck’s when he reached over to squeeze Eddie’s thigh, splaying his fingers wide along the inner stretch of his jeans.

The drive to the diner didn’t take too long, so they arrived quickly, Helena and Ramon already waiting outside. Chris barely waited for the engine to stop before he got out of the truck and greeted them both. “Hey,” Buck pulled Eddie’s attention away from his parents. “I’ll be right there the whole time. And when we get home, I’ll give you the best blowjob ever.” Eddie laughed a little and nodded, leaning over to press a soft kiss to Buck’s lips.

“I love you,” he whispered.

“I love you too,” Buck promised and then they got out as well. Buck went around back to the bed of the truck and opened the tailgate, sliding out both his and Eddie’s gifts for Chris, both in gift bags. Eddie’s was a normal size, but Buck’s was huge, and when his boyfriend saw it, he stopped in his tracks.

“Buck, what the fuck is that?” he asked quietly, not wanting to alert Chris.

“Chris’ birthday gift,” Buck smiled innocently. “Let’s go.”

“Buck, how much did you spend on that gift?” Eddie hissed as they walked slowly up to the sidewalk.

“It doesn’t matter,” Buck shrugged as if Eddie wasn’t going to know as soon as he saw the gift itself - the LEGO Avengers Tower set that Chris had been asking for for months. “Hurry up, or they’re gonna leave us out here.” Helena, Ramon, and Chris were already at the door. Eddie huffed but dropped the subject, catching up with his parents and son, holding the door open for everyone. They were seated quickly in a corner booth, Buck ending up in the middle with Eddie next to him and Chris on the outside, and Helena and Ramon on the other side.

“Christopher, did you have a good day?” Helena asked brightly.

“Yeah, my friends got me some cool gifts and I think I did good on my history quiz. And we went to the arcade after school,” Chris explained. “I’m excited for Friday though.”

“What’s Friday?” Helena asked, furrowing her brows and Buck took a deep breath - he was sure, based on the little he knew and what he’d seen so far, that they would try to somehow involve themselves.

“A few of my friends are coming over after school to play video games and hang out,” Chris said. “Dad said we could order pizza and get cake.”

“That sounds…fun,” Ramon smiled tightly and Buck resisted the urge to roll his eyes. What else did they think a fifteen-year-old wanted to do?

“Well, do you need help with anything, Eddie?” Helena asked, looking at her son. They were briefly interrupted to order their drinks, Eddie okaying the milkshake that Chris wanted (and Buck did roll his eyes when Helena seemed scandalized). “I could get the cake?”

“No thanks, Mom, I’ve got everything covered. My boss, our fire captain, is actually the one making the cake,” Eddie said simply. “It’s Chris’ favorite.”

“I didn’t realize that you were that close with your boss,” Ramon’s eyes narrowed. “Isn’t it a little bit inappropriate?”

“Not when you’re firefighters,” Buck answered, and the relieved exhale he felt Eddie let out made the attention worth it. “We’re like a family - you kind of have to be when you trust someone with your life. Chris’ best friend is another firefighter’s son.”

“And how long have you been a firefighter?” Helena asked tightly.

“Uh, I’m just coming up on a year. My graduation from probationary firefighter is next week,” Buck said. “I moved around a lot after I left home, traveling. I was in Peru before I came to LA about a year and a half ago. I enrolled in the academy as soon as I got up here, and the rest is, uh, history.”

“That’s…nice,” Helena nodded. Thankfully, their waitress returned with their drinks and took their food orders, interrupting the conversation. After she had left again, Helena turned her sights back on Chris, asking him about school, and Buck slumped in the booth a little. Eddie reached for his hand under the table, lacing their fingers together. They sat quietly while Chris and Eddie’s parents talked, but Chris excused himself to go to the bathroom just after their food arrived.

“Buck…it’s interesting you decided to date someone so much older than you,” Helena commented as if she were talking about the weather.

“Oh, I mean…Eddie’s not that much older than me,” Buck shrugged. “My sister is nine years older than me so anything less than that kind of seems like nothing.”

“Still - a young man like you, settling down with a man who already has a child. Don’t you want kids of your own?” Helena smiled sweetly at him, like the old women at church used to when he broke his arm for the third time.

“Well, I…I mean yeah? One day. But…being with Eddie doesn’t mean I can’t have kids,” Buck frowned a little - children weren’t something they had explicitly talked about but they both wanted more.

“Mom, it’s our relationship,” Eddie said tightly. “We make those decisions.”

“I was just asking,” Helena defended herself. “I mean, having children as two men must be very difficult. Surely being with a woman would make it much easier?”

“I mean, yeah, technically,” Buck agreed hesitantly. “But I’m not with a woman. I’m with Eddie. I don’t pick my partner based on the ease of child-rearing. I love Eddie.”

“I’m sure you do,” Helena nodded. “It just seems silly to me to make having children as difficult as possible.”

“I’m sorry, are you - are you trying to convince me to break up with your son?” Buck asked, tired of the pussyfooting around the topic. Helena spluttered a little, seemingly taken aback by his abruptness.

“Of course not,” Ramon said calmly. “She’s just…making conversation.”

“Right, well it’s a conversation I’d like to be done having,” Buck said. Eddie squeezed his hand under the table, and fortunately, it was also when Chris returned to the table. The rest of their meal was uneventful, Buck and Eddie once again being ignored in favor of Chris.

After their plates were cleared, their waitress asked if they wanted dessert, and Chris ordered a slice of apple pie. Eddie initially declined, but Buck ordered them a slice of cherry pie to share, and neither Helena nor Ramon wanted anything. It only took a minute for her to come back with the two plates, and Buck and Eddie’s had two forks.

Buck let Eddie take the first bite, smiling softly at him as he moaned quietly around the fork - cherry was his favorite fruit (he liked the tartness). Buck took a small bite, but he let Eddie have most of their slice, and then he ate the crust as he knew Eddie wasn’t the biggest fan.

“Alright kid, you ready for your presents?” Eddie asked once their table was cleared and the bill dropped off. Chris nodded, and Buck set his and Eddie’s bags on the table, Ramon quickly doing the same. Chris chose his dad’s gift first, reaching into the bag and pulling out a new gaming headset and a new game that he asked for.

“Thanks, Dad! We’re gonna have to play this Friday night,” Chris leaned in and carefully hugged Eddie, who happily returned the embrace.

“Happy birthday, Chris,” Eddie muttered just loud enough for Buck to hear, pressing a kiss to his head. Chris put the items back in the bag and Buck moved it out of the way, so Chris could open the next gift and he chose the one from his grandparents. He pulled out a large, dark box, that had gold lettering on top but nothing else, so Chris opened it and revealed a chess set. It was beautiful and wooden, likely hand carved - and probably very expensive. Buck didn’t know a lot about chess, but he knew that something that looked like that couldn’t have been cheap.

“Thank you,” Chris smiled at them, but Buck could tell it wasn’t genuine which made sense to him - he had literally never even seen Chris play chess.

“You’re welcome, sweetheart,” Helena smiled warmly. “Maybe you and Grandpa could play this weekend?”

“Yeah, sure,” Chris agreed hesitantly, closing the box and setting it back in the gift bag carefully. Buck moved it out of the way and slid his gift over, though he put it on its side so Chris wouldn’t have to lift it out since was it heavy.

“Happy birthday, kid,” Buck said preemptively. Chris smiled at him and slowly slid the box out, but as soon as he saw the name at the top, he stopped, gasping.

“Are you serious?” he asked Buck, eyes wide. Buck chuckled a little and nodded. “Buck, this is amazing, seriously, thank you!” Buck ignored the pinch he felt on his thigh from Eddie. “I’m gonna start building this as soon as we get home!”

“I’m glad you like it,” Buck said as if he didn’t know this was exactly what Chris wanted.

“What is it, sweetheart?” Helena asked, voice tight.

“Only the coolest LEGO set!” Chris began describing it to his grandparents, and Buck chanced a look down at Eddie who was looking at him with a fond smile.

“I thought you were gonna be mad about how much it was,” Buck whispered, lifting his arm over Eddie’s head to lay along the booth behind him.

“I was…until I saw how much Chris loved it,” Eddie leaned in and pressed a chaste kiss to Buck’s lips. “How could I ever be mad about you doing something to make my kid happy?” Buck returned his smile and kissed him again. Chris finished talking and Eddie reached for his wallet.

“Alright kid, say goodbye to your grandparents, and I’m gonna go pay. Buck?”

“I’ll get the gifts in the truck,” he agreed easily. They all slid out of the booth, Chris staying with Helena and Ramon while Buck and Eddie split off to complete their respective tasks and Buck was so fucking glad his took him away from the two elder Diazs - he was at his limit with how much he would tolerate them, and they weren’t even that bad tonight.

Buck put the bags in the backseat and then leaned against the hood to wait for Eddie and Chris. They, along with Helena and Ramon, emerged from the diner a couple minutes later, all of them coming over to the truck. Chris said goodbye again before climbing in the truck, and both Helena and Ramon looked like they wanted to help but Chris waved them off, slamming the door shut behind him.

“Thanks for coming to dinner,” Eddie told his parents. “Chris was happy to have you there.”

“We’re glad we could make it. We’re in town until Sunday, when can we see him again?” Helena asked and Buck grit his teeth at the idea of spending more time with these two.

“Well, he has school today and tomorrow, and his friends are gonna be at ours all Friday night and well into Saturday. When do your flights leave on Sunday?”

“Sunday morning. Eddie, we flew in for Christopher’s birthday, we expected to see more of him,” Ramon said tersely and Eddie shrugged.

“You guys didn’t tell me you were coming. You can’t expect him to move around his plans because you showed up without warning. If we had known you would be here, we could have figured something out, but I’m not going to force him to cancel on his friends.”

“You weren’t like this before,” Helena accused.

“Before what?” Eddie sighed.

“Before you were gay,” she whispered the last word, like it was a secret like she didn’t want other people overhearing her.

“Oh my god, we’re leaving,” Eddie shook his head. “I’ll see if Chris wants to see you Saturday after his friends leave. Have a good night.” Buck took the cue and got in the truck, waving awkwardly at Helena and Ramon as they pulled out of the parking space.

“What was that about?” Chris asked, leaning forward from the backseat. “I couldn’t hear everything but I caught some of it.”

“They just want to spend time with you,” Eddie told him. “But with school and your sleepover, the only time you’re both free is Saturday night. You wanna go out to dinner with them or something?”

“Uh, yeah, I guess,” Chris shrugged. “Are you sure? Abuelo looked mad and you have that look on your face when you get annoyed, where your mouth gets all pinched and you’re glaring.”

“What? I don’t have an annoyed look,” Eddie refuted, crossing his arms.

“Yes, you do,” Chris argued. “You get it whenever the single moms come to talk to you at school.”

“I - I do not have a specific look for that!” Eddie huffed. “Buck?”

“You have the same look when people flirt with you on a scene,” Buck admitted, laughing a little when Eddie gasped.

“You know what? You both can fuck off,” Eddie turned in his seat to look out the window. Buck chanced a look back at Chris and shared a smile with him. Eddie pouted the rest of the drive home, but once they were in the driveway, his mood washed away and he was helping Chris down while Buck grabbed the bags. It was late enough for them to start getting ready for bed, so Chris went to take his shower and change, but when he finished he came out to the living room to start on his new LEGO set as he still had another hour before he had to go lay down.

Buck set his other gifts in his room and followed Eddie to theirs, following through on their wager, and gave Eddie a sloppy blowjob while Chris was in the bathroom. He was quick, taking his entire length down his throat and hummed as he bobbed his head, drool leaking out the corners of his mouth. It was quick, and Buck stayed pressed against Eddie’s pelvis as he came, swallowing everything, licking the head as he pulled off to ensure he didn’t waste anything.

Eddie kissed him briefly before sending him to brush his teeth and shower - Chris was out and working on his LEGOs. Buck took a thorough shower though he didn’t wash his hair as he didn’t want to go through the whole ordeal of drying his curls correctly and Eddie got pouty with him if he did it wrong and his hair came out straight.

He joined Eddie and Chris in the living room once he was dressed in his pajamas, sitting with his boyfriend on the couch while Chris sat at the coffee table assembling what seemed to be the base of the tower. Half an hour later, Eddie sent Chris to bed, taking his phone before he went, bidding him goodnight with a kiss on his head.

“So,” Buck asked once Chris’ door was safely shut. “How are you?”

“I’m pissed at my parents,” Eddie groaned and leaned his head against Buck’s shoulder. “I just…I don’t know why they still think I’m a terrible father. I don’t - I don’t think I am.”

“You’re not,” Buck cut in. “You’re an amazing father. Chris is the luckiest kid in the world.” Eddie smiled at him and gave him a quick kiss.

“I just wish I was enough for them,” he whispered with a shrug, and Buck reached over, hauling Eddie into his lap.

“You are enough, just because they don’t see it, doesn’t make it not true,” Buck said quietly, wanting to make sure Eddie heard the truth in his words. “I’m sorry they make you feel so shitty.”

“It’s okay. With any luck, I’ll barely have to see them again. They can take Chris out for dinner without us,” Eddie said, wrapping his arms around Buck’s neck. “And maybe we can go out just the two of us.”

“Yeah? You gonna take me on a date?” Buck asked, smirking as he looked up at Eddie, hands sliding up his thighs to cup his ass.

“Hmm,” Eddie agreed, leaning in to kiss him, lips moving together in a familiar, intimate dance. They stayed locked in their embrace for a few minutes until they were forcibly broken apart by Eddie’s yawn. “Shit, sorry.”

“It’s alright, Eds. Let’s get you to bed, yeah? Besides, we gotta get up early anyway,” Buck stood carefully, keeping Eddle’s legs wrapped around him as he carried him back to their bedroom. He dropped him on the mattress with a laugh, joining him immediately as they clumsily maneuvered under the covers, sliding into their usual positions - Eddie tucked under Buck’s arms, head nuzzled into his chest. “Love you.”

“Love you too, amor,” Eddie mumbled, kissing Buck’s chest, right over his heart.

***

Friday night was something else. Buck and Eddie had quickly sequestered themselves in their bedroom as soon as everyone arrived - they did not want to be in the same room as five teenagers for any longer than necessary. They chose a movie and played it on Buck’s laptop, setting it on top of a couple of pillows at the end of the bed and cuddled together as they watched it (they agreed no sex while there were so many kids in the house).

Buck had to leave to collect the pizzas from the delivery guy, giving all but one to Chris and his friends, and taking the final box back to the bedroom. Eddie thanked him with a kiss. “So,” Buck said through a mouthful of pizza. “Is Chris gonna have dinner with your parents tomorrow?”

“Yeah, I texted them this morning,” Eddie nodded. “And we are also going on a date.”

“Where are we going?” Buck asked immediately, completely forgetting about the movie as he turned his whole body to face Eddie, legs crossed like a kid at school. “C’mon, Eds, tell me please?”

“Do you really wanna know or are you gonna pout when I tell you because I ruined the surprise?” Eddie asked, raising his brows at his boyfriend.

“I really wanna know, I promise,” Buck nodded.

“We’re going dancing,” Eddie revealed. “Ballroom dancing. I found a place in Arcadia that does social nights for different styles of dance, and tomorrow night just happens to be ballroom.”

“Seriously? You’re taking me ballroom dancing?” Buck lit up, which looked a little ridiculous with the pizza grease on his chin. Eddie nodded. “Okay, but you have to promise not to be mad when I step on your toes a bunch.”

“I promise I won’t be mad,” Eddie laughed.

“What do you wear for ballroom dancing?” Buck asked, glancing over at their closet. “Because I don’t think I really have anything fit for ballroom dancing.”

“Baby, it’s not like it’s a competition, we can wear whatever we want. But I would suggest something easy to move in,” Eddie reassured him. “Now shush and watch the movie. They’re about to finally kiss.” Buck listened and settled back against the pillows, shoving more pizza in his mouth.

The night was as calm as it could be with five rowdy, loud teenagers just down the hall, but around midnight Buck and Eddie settled into bed, Eddie snuggling as close to Buck as he could, tucking his face in his chest and hitching his leg over Buck’s hip. Buck laughed a little as he ran his hand up down Eddie’s thigh, gently scratching as he went. “I love you,” Eddie whispered against the skin of Buck’s pec.

“I love you too,” Buck muttered back, shivering a little - likely the scratch of Eddie’s mustache; Buck said it was ticklish.

Saturday morning was much easier, as all five teens were dead to the world, spread out around the living room. Chris was on the couch, Denny on the floor right next to him, and the other three taking up the rest of the space, the coffee table pushed to the side, covered in empty soda cans, empty pizza boxes, and cake crumbs.

Buck and Eddie crept into the kitchen, shutting the door behind them. Eddie started the coffee maker as Buck got the mugs down and prepped them the way they each liked it - Eddie with too much sugar and Buck with a little bit of creamer. Eddie poured the coffee into each mug once it had brewed and then hopped onto the counter, spreading his legs for Buck to stand between.

“What are we feeding these kids?” Eddie asked tiredly, taking a long sip from his coffee with a happy sigh.

“I mean…we could make them food,” Buck suggested. “Or I could go get a dozen donuts.”

“That one please,” Eddie nodded. “I do not want to cook enough for five teenagers. One of them is already eating me out of house and home.” Buck smiled and nodded, leaning in to kiss Eddie sweetly, and Eddie let him, wrapping his free hand around Buck’s shoulders. “They’ll probably be asleep for another hour at least.”

“Got plenty of time,” Buck agreed, setting his mug down and Eddie quickly did the same, hitching his legs over Buck’s hips and using them to pull him even closer as they kissed. They wouldn’t go further than this, not with the kids only a single unlocked door away, but making out with his boyfriend was one of Eddie’s favorite pastimes - he loved feeling up Buck’s stupidly large arms and shoulders, loved his hands running all over Eddie’s skin, touching him like he was precious, loved the slight burn of his unshaved stubble on his sensitive neck.

Eddie wasn’t quite sure how long they were kissing, but by the time he took another drink of his coffee, it was cold.

Buck changed into some sweats and a t-shirt, departing with a slow kiss and sneaking out the side door so he didn’t chance waking any of the kids. Eddie sat at the kitchen table, drinking a (new) cup of coffee and reading a few news articles as he waited for Buck to return. It didn’t take long, and by the time he was stepping back through the door, box in hand, Eddie could hear the teens start stirring.

Once the kids were awake, Eddie delivered the donuts and then left them to their devices once more - they still had a few hours before they would be picked up, so Eddie knew they were gonna get some more gaming in. Eddie and Buck headed outside to the backyard, sitting together on the patio and basking in the morning sun. They stayed out there, eventually moving to lay in the grass until the kids' parents’ began arriving. Most made a little bit of small talk before departing, but Hen and Karen hung around to have a cup of coffee around the dining table, Denny and Chris cleaning up the living room.

“So your parents are taking Chris tonight?” Karen asked suspiciously - she knew all about his parents and his relationship with them. Eddie nodded and took a sip from his mug.

“I mean, not all night, just for dinner, but yeah. I don’t think either of us could sit through another dinner with them,” he said quietly, not wanting Chris to hear.

“That bad?” Hen winced a little.

“Toni not turning up at our wedding bad,” Karen said. Eddie had texted her all the details this morning, filling her in on all the absolute shit things his parents had said.

“Damn,” Hen sighed. “I’m sorry you have to deal with them. They’re leaving tomorrow though, right?”

“Yes, thank fuck,” Buck mumbled, getting a laugh from the other three.

“How’s Mara doing?” Eddie asked instead. “She started her new dance class?”

“Yep, ballet twice a week. We’ve already agreed to get a bar for the house so she can practice at home,” Karen nodded. “And I never knew that pointe shoes were so expensive.” Not long after that, Hen, Karen, and Denny left with a long round of goodbyes, leaving only the permanent residents in the house.

“Your grandparents are gonna be here at five to pick you up,” Eddie reminded Chris. “So please make sure you’re ready.” Chris nodded and went back to playing his game on his Switch. They spent the time until then doing some chores: cleaning around the house, doing some laundry, and making a grocery list, though they wouldn’t be able to go shopping until Tuesday.

By the time five o’clock rolled around, Chris was, thankfully, dressed and ready to go. Helena and Ramon knocked and came inside after Buck opened the door for them with a half-hearted smile.

“Make sure you take your keys, mijo, Buck and I might not be here when you guys get back,” Eddie said as they were gearing up to leave. Chris just nodded and grabbed them off the hook by the door while Helena frowned a little.

“Where would you be?” she asked.

“I’m taking Buck out on a date,” Eddie answered simply. “And I don’t know how late we’ll be out. Probably not super late, the place we’re going closes at 10:30. You don’t have to wait with him, Chris is fine to be on his own for a few hours.”

“Right well…have fun,” his mom smiled that tight, vicious smile that Eddie had grown used to receiving as a child and followed his dad and Chris out the door.

“It also doesn’t open until seven thirty, which means we have an hour and a half before we need to leave…” Eddie teased, hooking his finger in the waistband of Buck’s sweats, tugging them as he began backing up toward their bedroom. Buck grinned and followed him, kicking the door shut as they fell onto the bed.

An hour later, freshly fucked and showered, Eddie was getting dressed. He slid on some compression leggings under some gym shorts and a tight athletic shirt. Buck was dressed much the same, but he also put a light grey zip-up hoodie and one of his stupid baseball caps, and really it was criminal that he looked that good, so Eddie made sure to show his appreciation by pushing Buck down on the bed, straddling his lap, and kissing him until they had to leave.

Buck drove - as usual - and Eddie controlled the playlist from the passenger seat, making fun of Buck’s choices; seriously, who listened to that much One Direction? When they finally arrived at the studio, it was a nondescript space at the end of a strip mall, but they could see the lights coming out of the windows and the music playing from the parking lot.

Eddie took the lead as they walked inside, paying the admission fee. There were already a few couples out on the floor dancing, and more hanging out around the edges at some standing tables, drinking. “You want a drink first or you wanna dance?” Eddie asked, turning to face Buck.

“Drink first definitely,” Buck answered, watching the couples dancing with wide eyes. Eddie laughed a little and pulled him back to the bar, ordering them both a cocktail - himself a tequila sunrise and Buck a mojito. They found an empty table along the side of the dance floor to drink at, Eddie leaning into Buck’s side.

“I promise we’re not going anything that complicated,” he said when he caught Buck watching a couple slip into an exaggerated dip.

“You really used to do this? Like, compete and everything?” Buck turned to look at him.

“You saw the trophies, baby,” Eddie laughed and kissed him quickly. “Yes, we had to dress up and everything.” As they finished their drinks, Eddie ran through a few basic tips and told him the steps for a basic Waltz. Not long after that, the next song began and they stepped out onto the floor. “Remember, amor, eyes on me, not your feet.”

Buck nodded and they began moving - Eddie let Buck lead since he figured he would be more used to that, and it challenged Eddie just a bit since he was the leading partner when he was competing. They were pressed close together - far closer than they should actually be for a box step, but tonight wasn’t about accuracy, it was about intimacy, and Eddie wanted to be in his boyfriend’s arms. “Like this?” Buck asked after successfully completing a single box step, and Eddie smiled encouragingly.

“Yeah, baby, just like that,” he praised, quickly kissing Buck’s cheek. The other man stumbled a little and flushed at the misstep, but Eddie just kept going, pulling Buck with him. Buck did get the hang of it by the end of the song, and Eddie kissed him sweetly as they finished. “Wanna try something else?”

“With you? Always,” Buck nodded. Eddie laughed and showed him how to box step with a twist, and that took him two songs to master, but Eddie was happy to go along for the ride. They stayed as close as they could feasibly get while still conforming to the dance style, and by the end of the night, they were both sweaty and flushed, lips swollen and Eddie was a little (a lot) tipsy.

“I haven’t had that much fun dancing since I was thirteen,” Eddie said as they walked to the Jeep slowly. The parking lot was almost empty as they had stayed until close, and Eddie was leaning heavily on his boyfriend.

“I’m glad you had such a good time. I did too. I loved getting to dance with you,” Buck pulled him into a kiss as they reached the Jeep, pressing Eddie into the passenger side door.

“Hmm, baby?” Eddie gasped a little as Buck trailed kisses down his throat.

“Yes?” his lips vibrated against Eddie’s sensitive skin.

“Remember our wager?” Buck stopped and pulled off enough to look up at Eddie.

“Right here? Right now?” he asked, smirking up at him. Eddie nodded and bit his lip. Buck looked around and then unlocked the Jeep, opening the door. Eddie leaned against the seat, though he didn’t fully sit down. Buck carefully knelt in front of him and tugged his shorts and leggings down under his ass, licking his lips as he took in Eddie’s half-hard length.

“C’mon baby, wanna feel your mouth,” Eddie urged him on, gripping his shoulders since his hair was covered by his hat. Buck nodded and ducked his head, suckling the tip before taking more in his mouth, wrapping his hand around the base. Eddie’s breath quickened as Buck bobbed his head slowly, his cock hardening in Buck’s mouth. “Shit, Buck, shit, more, more.”

Buck moved his other hand from Eddie’s thighs to his balls, cupping them in his palm and rolling them up against his pelvis at the same time he took his length all the way to the base. Eddie moaned louder than he meant to, balling his hand into a fist and shoving a few knuckles into his mouth to bite down on as Buck continued to move his head up and down, dipping his head on every forward press.

“Close, baby,” Eddie mumbled after a few minutes of Buck’s relentless mouth. Buck pulled off, looking up at him and his boyfriend’s swollen, spit-slick lips almost did him in right then.

“You wanna come down my throat, Daddy? Or on my face?” Eddie cursed and dropped his head back.

“Face, on your face,” he gasped, and Buck spread his knees a bit to lower himself as he jerked Eddie’s cock, increasing the pressure as he got closer to the head just like Eddie liked, and a few pulls later, he was spilling over Buck’s red skin, painting his cheeks and nose, mixing with the saliva on his chin. Eddie panted as his heart rate slowly began relaxing, and Buck pushed himself to his feet. He reached past Eddie into the glovebox to grab some tissues. Eddie took them from him and gently cleaned him up, wiping his skin free of all bodily fluids. They stood together for a couple of minutes before Buck finally kissed Eddie and stepped back to walk around the hood. Eddie slid into his seat and closed the door as Buck did the same, starting the engine and pulling back out onto the road. Before they got very far, Buck pulled into a drive-through and ordered two sodas and an ice cream cone. The drinks were set in the middle console, but the ice cream was handed to Eddie.

“What…” Eddie asked, holding up the cone.

“For you,” Buck said simply. “You like something sweet after you’ve been drinking.” Eddie couldn’t help but lean over and press a kiss to Buck’s cheek before sitting back to enjoy said sweet treat, pulling his phone from his pocket to change the song.

By the time they returned home, it was only a few minutes to midnight, and they both had to piss from drinking their respective sodas. Leaving their trash in the Jeep to deal with later, they hurried up the path to the front door, Buck unlocking it as they tried to stay quiet, though it was likely Chris was still awake - it was a Saturday after all.

They stumbled through the open doorway and were unexpectedly greeted with the sight of his parents standing six feet away, glaring disapprovingly at both of them. “Uh…hi?”

“Hi? Hi? That’s all you have to say?” his mom snarked. “You’ve been gone for hours!”

“I told you we would probably be home late,” Eddie said a little confused - why were his parents even still here?

“It’s the middle of the night!” Helena nearly shrieked. “You were God knows where doing God knows what while your son was here by himself!”

“Except he wasn’t because you were here,” Eddie pointed out. “And even if you weren’t he would have been fine. He’s fifteen.” Eddie swayed a little where he stood, Buck reaching out to steady him with an arm around his waist.

“Are you drunk?” his father asked, eyes narrowing.

“I’m a little tipsy,” Eddie admitted. “Why does it matter?”

“Because you were coming home to your son!” his mom stepped forward. “You are responsible for his well-being, how on earth can you be responsible when you’re out all night with your boyfriend, coming home drunk?” Eddie just stared between his parents for a long moment, letting Buck hold his weight.

“Nothing I ever do is gonna be good enough for you, is it?” he asked, swallowing thickly. “I could have sat at home by myself all night and you still would have found something.”

“Eddie-” his mom started.

“No, no, I’m done. I went on a date with my boyfriend. He didn’t drink, he drove. My kid was safe at home. He has a cell phone, if he needed anything he could have texted,” Eddie said simply. “I am finally happy, Mom. Really, really happy. And you just wanna tear it down. Tear me down.”

“Now Edmundo,” Ramon tried to interrupt but Eddie was done.

“I want you to leave. I want you to leave my house and not come back. And I don’t want to text you or call you. I want to be happy, and if you won’t let me, then…I don’t need you. I don’t want you,” Eddie nodded, mostly to himself, and moved out of the doorway, Buck moving with him. “Go.”

“Eddie, this is-” Helena froze as Buck stepped around Eddie, staring them both down.

“He told you to leave. I will physically remove you if you can’t do it yourself.” That seemed to be enough, because without another word, Eddie’s parents disappeared out of the house, Buck shutting and locking the door behind them. “Are you alright, Eds?”

Eddie looked up at Buck, brows furrowed and lips pursed as he thought it over. “Actually, I am. I’m really good. And I really have to piss. Dibs on the bathroom.” Eddie pushed past his boyfriend to get to the toilet first, Buck waiting impatiently, leaning against the doorframe. Eddie moved out of the way to wash his hands once he was finished, Buck taking his place.

They brushed their teeth together and stripped naked, taking a quick shower to just rinse off, neither having the energy for anything more. They didn’t bother getting dressed past underwear. Buck sent Eddie to lie down while he made sure all the windows and doors were locked and the blinds were down before joining him in bed.

“I love you,” Buck whispered, kissing Eddie soft and slow as they got settled in bed, cuddling in the middle rather than choosing either side.

“I love you too,” Eddie mumbled against his lips, letting the steady beat of Buck’s heart against his own slowly lull him to sleep, safe and at home in his boyfriend’s embrace.
