Chapter 1: What started it all.

Chapter Text

Nexus spun as he looked around at the dimension that sun had taken them both as sun did the same but then just stared at Nexus. Sun felt guilty and sorrowful about having to leave him here but... You could tell he didn't want to take him back, although his heart told him the opposite.

Nexus slowly turned to sun, his intimidating facade fading from his face as he asked him "where am I." Nexus sounded scared, like a child. But he was doing his best to hide it, failing miserably, he wanted to seem intimidating, scary. But god- it was getting harder with every second.

Sun saw the look in his eyes and heard the tone in his voice, he eyes became softer with pity. "I don't know, I didn't choose this..." Sun looked down at the flowing grass as he tried to think of something to say, before his attention was brought to nexus as he asked another question.

"why- why would you bring me here!?" Nexus got louder as he asked that last part, he didn't care about keeping the facade, he didn't care to intimidate him, he was just confused. He needed to know why he was being treated like this.

Sun was taken aback, his expression changing to a confused and annoyed one. It irritated him how stupid he was acting!! Does he really not know!? "Really..? Do you really not know!?" Sun was becoming defensive, angrier, but he felt bad. Not in a guilty way, he felt pity and disbelief for nexus more than anything. "You've tortured us for MONTHS!!" sun had his hands up slightly almost as a way to say 'what!?' as if he wasn't already saying that.

Nexus's eyes widened, guilt and disbelief being the most prominent in his eyes. "No- no no no no no... I-.. I never did those things!!" Nexus shook his head repeatedly before speaking out, he was so desperate to prove his innocence. "Yes!! You did. You've hurt all of us!!" Sun yelled out, irritation taking control

"but-.. but I don't remember that!! I don't remember any of that!!" Nexus put his hands over his face, he wanted to break down, to cry, to sob, to just let it out after having not doing so for god knows how long. He just seemed so distressed, and for good reason. Sun's irritation was still there but now confusion and slight concern started to creep up. Sun was about to speak until nexus did first. "I-... I don't remember anything!! I only remember you and earth!!" Nexus's hands moved to the sides of his head as his legs seemed to shake, his cloak swaying with wind as he stayed in his state of distress.

Suns eyes widened with sorrow as he remembered how he was when he was just moon, how he was scolded for betraying his trust when moon was doing everything he could to help with the little knowledge he had. Sun started to reminisce about how he was then, how 'happy' they were, it was great. From his point of view.

Nexus covered his face in shame as he fell to the ground, he was being overwhelmed with feelings he had ignored for so long. He wished he had forgotten them but of course they stayed with him even after he could barely remember himself. he felt like crying but he was barely even an animatronic and couldn't even if he truly wanted to. Sun stared at him, he felt horribly guilty that his cluelessness had led to this. He walked towards Nexus, he knew that he had changed and he needed to make things better. Fixed what he had unknowingly broken.

Sun put his hand on Nexus's back as he leaned on his knees and spoke to as softly as he could, he was cold to him and he realized how wrong he was for that. He was still hurt, Nexus had still done horrible things but it was as if it wasn't to his own free will. Sun rubbed his back as a small way to comfort him. He wanted to say something, but what would he even say to this? It just made him feel worse that he couldn't help him, at all.

Sun was then shocked when Nexus hugged him tightly, he was breathing heavily as his grip on sun hot tighter. Sun hesitated but he then hugged back, this wasn't Nexus, it couldn't be. This was... New moon. It was new moon he was hugging, not Nexus. He knew who this was and he was happy to finally have him in his embrace once more.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"What do you MEAN you brought him back!?" Moon yelled out as he saw Nexus and sun standing there awkwardly, Nexus gripping suns hand. Monty and solar were just as confused as moon was. "I just- it seemed like a good idea!! Hes harmless-" sun was cut off by moon. "Harmless!? He burnt most of my tech!!" Sun fiddled with the ruffle of his pants, Nexus standing there awkwardly as he started to think this wasn't as great as an idea as he first thought. Moon sighed angrily, solar leaving to his room and Monty still there with his gun ready, he didn't know if it would still do anything but he didn't know if he cared. Nexus remembered the gun, and he was clearly scared.

"Well- he hasn't done anything yet!! He's had chances but he hasn't, he's better now!!" Sun let go of Nexus's hand and held them up defensively. Moon looked over at Nexus, Nexus attempting to smile at him but it was only really seen through his eyes due to his lack of mouth. Moon groaned as he pinched the bridge of his nose and looked down, sun and Nexus still having their awkward and nervous smile.

"Fine. But if it does ANYTHING, anything at all!! He's OUT. no excuses, no exceptions, nothing. You got that?" Moon pointed at sun and sun's smile turned sincere and joyful, he seemed ecstatic that moon let him stay. He was very positive that he wasn't going to but he didn't want to pry and make him change his mind.
