Chapter Text
An old woman lay dying in her bed, and unbeknownst to her, surrounded by nine of the ghosts that haunt her property.
“It won’t be long now.” Trevor observed solemnly.
“At least she’s comfortable” James sighs
“There are definitely worse ways to go” Pete chimes in, gesturing to the arrow through his neck.
All the others mutter in agreement.
“Shhh I think it’s happening” Sasappis cuts them off, stepping forward towards the woman.
“I should sing something to ease her transition.” Alberta suggests.
“Or don't make this all about you.” Hetty cut in sharply.
Alberta ignored her and began to sing Amazing grace.
Just then her spirit ascends from her body, shining in the darkness and hovering just above her newly deceased corpse.
“Who are you?” She asks fearfully, shocked to see the people surrounding her.
“I am the ghost of your great great grandmother, Hetty Woodstone.”
“Hi I’m Flower! I wandered over to your property from a music festival in the sixties and then I tried to befriend a bear, drugs were involved.” Flower explained cheerfully, turning to show off the claw marks on her back.
“I am Thorfinn…uhhh I like herring”
“She doesn't need the whole roster!” Issac cuts him off before continuing.
“We are ghosts, while most spirits pass on to the afterlife we for some reason are the unfortunate few cursed to spend eternity-“
Suddenly a beacon of light appears and her spirit quickly ascends to the heavens, plunging the room into its former darkness.
“-aaand she’s gone” Isaac groans.
“Good for her” Pete smiles fondly.
“So unfair. She goes up, we stay here, in Odin's name why?!?” Thorfinn cries.
“Now what’s gonna happen to the house?” Alberta asks.
“This house was my pride and joy, and now it could be sold to god knows who. Murders. Perverts. Irishmen.” Hetty laments.
“Well there’s no point in milling about up here, shall we go mill about downstairs?” Isaac suggests.
They all mutter in agreement once more and begin leaving the room.
“I just hope someone interesting moves in like a ball player or an astronaut. Whose life are you guys hoping to watch next?” Pete rambles cheerfully, optimistic as always.

“Wait wait wait wait, so you’re telling me, this house is MINE?” Casey Jones asks in disbelief.
“Yes.”
“For free?” He questioned, eyes squinting suspiciously.
“That is correct, as I told you on the phone your great aunt Sophie has passed away and as her only living blood relative, her estate was left to you.”
“Aunt Sophie? I mean I’ve met her but I thought she kicked the bucket years ago.”
“No, she only just passed away.”
“Didn’t she have a son?” Casey suddenly asked, remembering his estranged uncle David.
“More good news, he really did pass away years ago.”
“Dude this is sick! I mean rest in peace Sophie and David of course, but still.”
“You can either sell the property or-“
“Oh hell no! It’s a FREE MANSION of course I’m keeping it.”
“Whatever you want Mr. Jones, after all, it is your house.”
~
“You guys are not going to believe this!” Casey exclaimed excitedly as he rushed into the turtle's lair.
“What’s up Casey?” Raph asked, looking at his friend from his seat in the pit.
“I’m not saying anything until all your bros and April and here and listening.”
“Hey guys! Casey’s got news.” Raph hollered to the rest of the lair, not bothering to get up to get them.
He made his point though because soon everyone in the lair made their way to the main area of the lair to see what the commotion was about.
“My great aunt Sophie just died!” Casey exclaimed excitedly.
Everyone just stared back for a second, not expecting that to be the news.
“Uhhh I’m sorry for your loss?” Leo finally spoke up, stating it like it was a question.
“Was she a bitch or what?” Mikey laughed, earning a scolding look from his eldest brother.
“Oh, no, sorry, that’s not the good part. I inherited her estate!”
“No offense Casey, but why did she leave it to you? I’ve never heard you mention her, and you have a father and sister.” April questioned.
“Well I didn’t really know her, but she was my mom’s aunt. Unfortunately my mother passed away a long time ago, so dads only related to her by marriage. My little sister is only my half sibling, she wasn’t born until a few years after we lost mom. Apparently my aunt’s only son died a while back, so I’m the only blood relative. How ever it happened the point is I now own a big ass house in the upstate New York countryside.”
“How big are we talking?” Raph asked.
“It’s a literal mansion! The house is super old and gigantic, on a huge property surrounded by woods. It’s even bigger than Red’s farm house. By a lot.”
Everyone exploded into congratulations and expressing their shock.
“Do you have photos? Let us see it!” Donnie asked.
“Hell yeah!” Casey exclaimed, pulling out his phone and handing it to him.
“Holy chalupa.” Donnie gasped in astonishment.
They all gathered to gawk at Casey’s new house.
They showered him in compliments about his newly acquired property.
“Hey guys, I had an idea.” Casey announced getting everyone’s attention.
They all looked at him expectantly.
“I want to drive out and live there for a while. It’ll be a nice change of pace. This time not because we all almost died.”
Sadness crept into all of his friends' eyes.
“I’ll miss you like hell man, but I won’t stop you from going.” Raph finally sighed, staring at the floor.
Mikey ran up and hugged Casey.
“Be sure to send us photos of you living your best rich person life.” Mikey cried.
“We'll all miss you, but you need to do whatever is best for you and we understand that.” Leo expressed with a tight, almost forced smile.
“I won’t miss him, later Jones.” Donnie declared loudly, with a smirk, but even he had a sadness behind his eyes.
“Go to hell Don.” Casey fired back immediately with no real malice behind it.
“When are you leaving?” April asked, happy for her friend, but unable to hide the sadness she felt about the news.
Casey on the other hand was fighting a smile.
“Well you guys won’t have to miss me, because I want you all to come with.”
The energy in the room immediately changed, almost everyone immediately agreed and started talking over each other excitedly.
“Guys wait!” Leo cut them all off loudly.
The strict tone in which their clan leader spoke, made everyone fall silent.
“Casey, that's very kind of you, but we’d be leaving New York City. How long do we plan to stay away? Can we leave at all responsibly? We have a duty-“
He was cut off by Casey.
“You don’t owe New York anything, you’ve done enough for this city and the world already. Besides the foot clan is cool now, the Kraang, Triceritons, and Lord Dregg are all gone, you scared away all the major gangs and mobs already. All that’s left for us here is regular crime, something that will always be in any city anywhere no matter what you do. You’ve done your job already, you deserve to just relax and live your lives, at the very least you need a vacation.”
“I don’t know…” Leo started but was stopped when Mikey suddenly clinged to his side, shooting him the best puppy dog eyes he could manage.
“He’s right Leo,” April chimed in. “Crime is at an all time low and considering all we’ve done I think a vacation is well deserved and overdue.”
Leo took this into consideration as he stared at his little brother. Falling victim yet again to the youngest’s puppy dog eyes.
“Fine. We can go, but not too long!” Leo conceded with a sigh.
His brother’s and friends broke into celebration. All his brothers hugged and thanked him, then ran to Casey to talk about their upcoming vacation.
April could sense his remaining uneasiness. She took his hand into hers and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
“It’ll be okay Leo, after all, what’s the worst that could happen?”
