Work Text:
Lloyd was currently patching one if his- kids -students up. Wrapping a bandage around a stitched up wound on Arin's upper left arm.
The kid made a few complaints and whined a bit at the beginning. But after a moment, surprisingly, the kid didn't make a sound, like, any. Which was slightly worrying, not even a wince!
Lloyd finished tending to the Kid's wound. Lloyd looked up from the now treated arm to Arin.
The kid's eyes weren't focused, they were glazed over. His facial expression didn't change at all, no form of emotion or a reaction visible. His hurt arm wasn't moving from where it hung in the air from when he tended to it. It was like he.. wasn't there.
Oh fuck.
The kid was dissociating.
"Hey Arin?" Lloyd tried. No response.
Lloyd gets up, he grabs a fluffy blanket and wraps it around Arin and turns up the volume of the radio. He sits back down in front of Arin.
"Hey Arin?" He says again. He waits for a response, an inkling of a reaction He doesn't get anything.
Then, Arin's injured arm moves closer to himself. Lloyd takes that as some form of an indication that the kid somewhat heard him. "Arin, focus on my voice, what can you hear?"
A mumble: " ...The.." (He hears Arin start, straining his ears to listen.) "..radio..?" Arin mumbles.
"Good, good, what can you feel?"
"Soft..? Something.. soft?" Arin replies, his voice quiet and soft. Arin's hands lightly grasp onto the fluffy blanket, pulling it up more around himself.
"That's good,"
Lloyd pauses and places his hands on Arin's shoulders. Warming his hands up with his elemental power.
"what about now?"
"..Warmth." He watches the Kid's eyes focus, as they slowly look up to Lloyd.
Lloyd mentally sighs in relief, before being pulled into a crushing hug by Arin.
