Chapter Text
Jason slumped in his chair looking up at the Justice League members across from him, trying to look annoyed but mostly trying to find a way to sit that didn’t make his broken ribs feel like they were on fire, “Fine, you got me. You get Batman in here, and I’ll answer your questions.”
Superman frowned, “Batman isn’t available.”
Jason, of course knew this, but it wouldn’t be good to look like he knew too much about any League Members. No matter how much it burned to see his Aunt and Uncle glaring at him. Wait, no, the burning was the rib, but still their looks hurt, even knowing they didn’t know who he is, but he couldn’t break cover until Bruce decided how to play this. “Well throw me in a cell till then.”
“There’s no reason to keep you here that long, it’s just a couple questions about your recent work. If you're cooperative we can talk to the judge on your behalf.”
Jason snorted, “A non-Bat talking to a judge about me? Hard pass. Anyways there’s no way I’d end up at trial.”
Wonder Woman frowned, “You are dealing drugs. That is illegal. Along with your other crimes.”
“Transporting, not dealing.” Jason glared at her, “Get your details straight. None of that was getting out onto my streets.”
Superman’s brows furrowed, “That is still illegal and you are a mass murderer.”
Jason rolled his eyes behind the helmet, “Yeah, yeah, murder is wrong. I got that. Throw me in a cell until the Bat is here.”
“You don’t believe murder is wrong?”
“Depends on who’s killed,” Jason shrugged, “There are a lot of people the world would be better without them in it. Now cell?”
Wonder Woman placed a hand on Superman’s arm, “Ideologies are not in debate today. If you will tell us who you were working with, and everything you know about the drug and its distribution, we will bring you back to Gotham to be jailed.”
“I already said I’m not answering your questions. Batman or no answers.”
“Surely we can work something out.”
“Look you guys are in trouble for entering Gotham without the Bats okay.”
“We have his approval.”
Jason laughed, “Pull the other one, Bats hates outsiders messing with his city. You really think I’m going to believe he gave you the okay to investigate drugs in Gotham without him present? I’m a crime lord, you all are above my paygrade. No way he would let you into his city for a drug bust.”
Ignoring his own ill ease Superman continued, “That may be, but you’re not in Gotham now.”
“You're asking questions about Gotham, close enough. The only person getting Gotham information from me is Batman.”
Sighing Superman reached to unhook the meta cuffs from the table, “Right. Let’s get you locked up for the night. We can see if you’re more willing to talk in the morning.”
Standing before he could be pulled from the chair, not letting a pained sound escape his lips at how his ribs were moving, along with the leg he was sure he had a fracture in. Being superhero-ed into a wall was an unpleasant experience, “Lead the way.”
Jason sighed as he entered the cell, “Don’t bother bringing down any food, I won’t eat it, or drink anything.”
“We will not starve you.”
“You’re not, I’m refusing food and water and I don’t want the food to go to waste so don’t bother bringing any.”
“A hunger strike will not get you better accommodations.”
“I’m not doing it for that, I don’t trust you to not mess with anything you bring me.”
Wonder Woman reared back, “We would not drug you.”
“You already broke the rules about Gotham, and Gothamites, I’m not trusting you not to make an exception or slipping in something that isn’t a ‘drug’ to get me to give you answers.”
Superman and Wonder Woman shared an uneasy look but left Jason to his cell, they needed to do more research before they started up the interrogation again tomorrow.
Counting his breaths Jason closed his eyes, he could meditate at least, that wasn’t nearly as refreshing as actual sleep but it was something.
