Chapter Text
Kiryushiba was tired, his body aching and burning as warm crimson leaked from his open wounds. It stained his kimono, adding tot he dull blue. Pale blue eyes, one bleed as it stayed closed, rough skin scarred and wilting through age. His black hair hid away with a straw hat, which settled low upon his head. Breath ragged and strained. The more he pushed himself to go further, the harder it was to keep his eyes open. His surrounds were beginning to grow harder and harder to see, his life was slowly draining itself away, which would soon be a soulless chunk of flesh.
But he had to keep going.
For the child.
For his wife.
Her death, their death, cannot be in vain.
The child must live and grow, only then will his wife be at peace, and so will he.
The trail soon lost its thick forest feel, becoming less crowded and more habitable. Within the distance could be seen a home, one he hoped to be occupied by good people. The risk was large, but it was made. The injured man’s horse came to a slow stop, the man slowly slides off the course to stumble to the ground with a thud. His legs almost gave out, head spinning. Pale blue eyes tightly closed, before ing opening once again.
This would be the last time he saw his beloved child.
Slowly lowering his gaze to prolong the inevitable, he couldn’t help but crack a faint, ghostly smile. Despite his blurred vision, the baby was so visually clear in his arm, which felt so weak. He wished things could have been different, the baby deserved better. A child is born innocence, those who create life in such a way, is not. The mistakes of maturing men and women are sometimes harmful to the youth, forcing them to be born into sin—to suffer for what the child’s parents had brought forth.
“Hey. Who are you? Get off my property or else.”
An old man’s voice spoke with annoyance, catching the attention of the tired man. There’s a pause, the appearance of someone obviously in need of aid caught the old geezer off guard.
“You’re trouble.. Your kind isn’t welcome here. Go away. We don’t need trouble.”
The Japanese man says as he keeps his distance from the other male.
“Please..”
It’s strained, his voice barely above a whisper. Saying such a simple phased caused his lungs to swell, the fluid, it was getting bad. Soon, breathing would no longer be an option.
“Take the child.”
“No. Demon. Take your bastard hell spawn and leave.”
The injured man displayed an annoyed expression.
“You WILL take the child. YOU WILL.”
Harsh and desperate, he struggled to take few steps, only to fall to his knees. Blood leaked from his lips to stain his clothing, some falling onto the cloth that wrapped around the child itself. The old man’s face is unreadable, he doesn’t want to show sympathy for the white man, a race he considers demons, yet he couldn’t help but cast his eyes downwards. Dark eyes widening in shock, though he tried not to show it much.
“It.. Is tan.. Not your skin.”
A shaky sigh.
“Yes.. Mixed..”
There’s a long pause, the two of them were trouble. He knew it would be in his favor to turn a naked eye, yet he couldn’t help but be intrigued. It was so fat, chubby and happy, yet made no sounds. The baby stared curiously, large round eyes of green, olive green perhaps, uncertain, but beautiful. The child was unlike anything he’d ever seen.
His hesitation only brought forth rage.
“TAKE THE CHILD!”
Gurgling, as the stranger desperately screamed, blood seeping more and more from his lips.
“Dear! What is all that—“
The wife of the man quickly pops her head out the door as it slides open, fully shoving it tot he side as she gasps in horror.
“O-oh my! He needs help! We have to help him!”
The woman scurried over, pulling up her kimono to help her legs move faster, bending over to gently place a hand on the man’s shoulder.
“Please don’t talk. You’re in such a horrible state. Let us help you.”
Things had became a lot more incoherent, he was dying and his death felt it would be soon. Time was running thin.
“No.. Child.. Protect..”
The words were choppy as the baby his weakly pushed into the woman’s hands, which she takes. Light brown eyes fall to the child, which light up at the sight ever so slightly. She gently holds the baby in her arms, watching as it yawned and tan hands rubbed against a fat face. The old woman onto melted at the sight, her discriminating behavior nowhere to be soon, unlike the husband.
“Ugly baby, wife. Do away with it.”
The old man said as he holds the brown baby in his hands, the child’s skin fairly bright, yet the features of its foreign origin is too obvious to mistake. The woman goes to smack his shoulder, scoffing at his rude response. She gently takes the baby from his grasp and began caressing the child’s far cheeks, in a gentle and caring manner.
“Have you no remorse? It’s just a baby! Regardless if it isn’t of our kind.”
Her scowling makes his eyes roll, grunting as he watched the woman coos over the small thing. His deep brown eyes are still as his lips, the sight before him uncommon. He’s never seen a baby with such tan skin and green eyes, which seemed more hazel brown, he wasn’t sure. They were different and too noticeable, like the child itself. Eventually, he looked towards the man that delivered the baby to them, yet the man was gone. Nothing left but a scattered trail of blood.
The old man sighs, he feels that his decision was a mistake.
“Come, wife. Inside we go.”
Her eyes finally looked away from the baby to her husband with a bright expression.
“Really? We have yet another child bestowed to us by the Gods! Oh thank you—“
Her voice falls as the stranger was nowhere to be found, soon following her husband with a puzzled expression.
That’s where it all began, where Y/n’s fate was sealed. From creation, to birth, and now a now life that began this day, today.
And it was the day that her blood father had died.
