What’s There in Front of You

Summary:

Eijirou and Katsuki spend most of their time together, hugging and staying close. What they don’t realize is what it means.

Or

Eijirou spends his time loving on Katsuki oblivious to his true feelings while the rest of the Bakusquad struggle to get them together.

Work Text:

If today wasn’t the coldest day in history, Eijirou didn’t know what cold really was. There weren’t any clouds this morning, the wind stinging his cheeks as he walked to school. Katsuki was already angry, his face scrunched in discomfort, he was practically shivering. They were walking together, fingers intertwined to keep them warm but it wasn’t working. Katsuki grumbled in annoyance and shoved their hands into his pocket, the sudden warmth surprising Eijirou but he was grateful for it.

“The cold can fucking die.” Katsuki mumbled, his breath pluming out, imitating smoke from a cigarette. Eijirou would've thought that was cool before but, now he was too miserable to care, he prayed to no one that the school wouldn’t be as cold as it was out here.
As they approached the school, hands still holding tight, Denki, Mina, and Hanta were waiting for them just inside the entrance. They walked through the doors, immediately melting the layer of frost on their bodies and Mina glanced down at their hands with an eyebrow raised and a smirk on her face. Eijirou looked back at her in confusion.

“Our hands are cold.” He prompted, Hanta and Denki following with their own suggestive looks. Eijirou was completely lost. Katsuki didn’t seem to register either but Eijirou also assumed he probably didn’t care enough. They glanced at each other then scurried away from the door before more teens could walk in and let the unfriendly air slap them silly.

After their classes concluded and they started to wind down, Eijirou and Katsuki shared one of the couches in the dorm’s living room. Katsuki was tapping away at some stupidly entertaining game on his phone with Eijirou watching. They were close together, super close. The redhead was laying on the couch, Katsuki between his legs laying down as well, his head resting on the redhead’s chest. Eijirou’s hand was mindlessly playing with Katsuki’s hair while they relaxed together after a particularly difficult training day.
Most of their friends had noticed but didn’t say anything, either in fear of Katsuki combusting on the spot or because them cuddling had been happening a lot recently, or both.

“‘M hungry.” Katsuki mumbled as he suddenly stood, stretching out his back and cracking his neck, the ‘you want anything’ speaking for itself. Eijirou just hummed a ‘no, thanks’ in response not looking up from his game.
No one was currently making themselves food in their kitchen so Katsuki saw this as perfect timing. He loved having the kitchen to himself; nobody could get in his way. Everyone else was chatting at some of the tables or watching tv with their laptops on the couches anyway. Eijirou had finished the level he was on and padded over to Katsuki while he was getting out the things he needed for his Specialty Curry. He sat down at the counter and watched Katsuki in his element though, almost everything seemed to be his element. This one was just one of Katsuki’s favorites. As the curry started to really come together, so did Eijirou’s hunger.

“Smells good.” He cooed, watching Katsuki sprinkle and add a whole bunch of mystery spices Eijirou would never be able to name. The blonde lifted the wooden spoon he was using to his lips, testing the curry to make sure it was good. He hummed in accomplishment and dipped it back in, only to take it out again and extend the spoon to Eijirou, insisting he taste it too.

“What- you tryin’a poison me?” He teased.

“This is gonna be the best mother fucking curry your sorry ass has ever had. Now taste.” He put his hand on his hip in a sassy manner, emphasizing his point and scoffing. Eijirou leaned closer over the counter, tucking his hair behind his ear, and sipped the broth from the spoon Katsuki held himself. “Holy shit… Kats, that’s amazing.” Eijirou beamed then asked for a plate. He was lucky his best friend had thought ahead and made enough for two, he knew Eijirou wouldn’t be able to resist. Katsuki chuckled softly but it was quick to fade.
Mina, Hanta, and Denki were carefully watching them interact from a far, marveling at how happy Katsuki was. This was a rare sight that they all documented internally. What they also documented was him feeding Eijirou after he had tasted it himself.

An indirect kiss.

They had been noticing these little adjustments and decided to discuss later.

“They have to be dating. Or at least… Y’know.”

No, I don't know,” Denki scoffed, “I think they’re just completely oblivious.”

“Hate to say it but, I’m with Denks on this one.”

“What!? Hanta!!” Mina whined.

The Bakusquad, minus Eijirou, had gathered in Hanta’s room for a meeting.

They had pressing things to talk about.

They all sat on the floor in a circle, wearing their poorly (and quickly) made ‘KiriBaku 4 EVAA’ shirts. Mina had the clipboard, writing down ideas on what was going on. So far they had noticed Katsuki and Eijirou doing almost everything a romantic couple would do but obliviously. (Mina wasn’t convinced.)

“We have to gather more evidence.” She protested.

“I think we should just straight up tell them.” Denki commented and Hanta replied with, “You mean ‘gay up.’” He cackled loudly and Mina smacked him upside the head, rolling her eyes.

While the Bakusquad was having their meeting, Eijirou and Katsuki were peacefully doing homework in Eijirou’s room. They were blasting music on Katsuki’s speaker from a playlist they had made together. Eijirou was starting to space out at the essay he was supposed to be writing so he decided he needed a brain-break. He got up from his desk, Katsuki still sitting on his bed with papers spread out all around him, and shook out his hands, legs, arms, then finally his head. He whipped his hair around as Katsuki stared up in confusion.

Eijirou ignored him and started to dance, granted he wasn’t good at it but he didn’t care. The song that was playing was fast and hardcore, making Eijirou want to move fast too. He waved his arms around in the air and shook his head, grunting with the beat. His heart started to beat faster as joy overtook him.

“What the fuck are you doing?” Katsuki finally spoke.

“Dancing, obviously.” Eijirou threw back, “C’mon, join me! Take a break!”

“Fuck no,” Katsuki huffed, not wanting to make a fool of himself.

Eijirou shuffled over to Katsuki on the bed and forcefully grabbed his hands, making the other boy’s arms flop around as he danced. He pulled the spiky blonde from his seat and grabbed his waist and right hand, a few papers crumpling as they accidentally stepped on them. He moved his dance partner around in a mock Waltz, jerking him around randomly, all Katsuki could do was try to hold himself together. He didn’t want to just laugh stupidly but Eijirou was making it hard not to.

When the song changed to one almost surprisingly more intense, Eijirou dipped Katsuki, trying not to drop him, a huge grin on his face. It displayed his shark-like teeth, white with pretty pink gums.

“You fucking suck at d-dancing,” Katsuki chortled, trying to insult the other boy but he was enjoying this way too much.

“I know!” Eijirou just kept moving, twirling Katsuki, almost tripping a few times, and laughing in sync with him. They messed around for a while, forgetting about their homework and eventually a slow song came on.

“Seriously? Elvis?” Katsuki yelled.

“Elvis is cool! What’re you talking about?”

“No, I just didn’t think you liked Elvis! I don’t remember adding this with you.”

“I just added some of his songs yesterday, thought you’d like ‘im!” Eijirou slowed his pace, not letting go of his best friend for a second.

“What fucking idiot doesn’t like him!?” Katsuki protested.

“Probably Mineta.”

They both laughed and swayed loosely, foreheads pressed together as Love Me played in the background.

The following morning  they jogged together around their dorms. As they were running, they were comfortably silent, listening to their own heart beats and the shuffling of fallen leaves. This was a silence they sometimes got lost in, because of how mostly quiet Katsuki was and how Eijirou somehow understood him, they didn't always need to talk.

Once they made it back, they stayed outside, seated on the steps in front of their dorms. They had maybe a few hours before school to shower, get ready, and relax a little. Right now, though, they were sharing a small water bottle and catching their breath.

“I had another nightmare last night,” Katsuki spoke softly, almost like he didn’t even want the his best friend to know.

“I heard.” Eijirou replied solemnly. He placed his hand on the other boy’s thigh in comfort, rubbing his thumb slowly as his heart lurched from guilt.

“You wanna talk about it?”

“Not really.”

“Okay.”

They sat in another comfortable silence for a little bit, not realizing they had an audience. The Bakusquad watched them from inside, peering out the window.

“Ohmygod, ohmygod, they’re gonna kiss!!” Mina squealed as they watched Eijirou get closer to Katsuki.

“They’re not gonna kiss.” Hanta said, disappointedly.

“Yes they are!”

“I don't think so,” Denki chimed in.

Eijirou closed the distance, embracing Katsuki in his arms, not kissing him but hugging him instead. That’s what he thought the other had needed.

“I'm sorry I didn't check on you.” Eijirou breathed out against Katsuki’s hair.

“‘S fine, I don't need you to always be there. But it’s...nice to know you care.”

“Of course, Katsuki!” Eijirou said, squeezing him harder as he nuzzled his head into his soft neck.

“Okay, they may not have kissed but that was a really sweet moment and I need to take a picture.”

“No, Mina, you don't.” Hanta said as he slowly took her phone from her hands while she pouted. Denki snickered in the background.

“Okay, ya little shits, today’s gonna be simple. And NO majorly damaging your classmates.” Mr. Aizawa yelled as they entered Gym Gamma, glaring at Katsuki for his last sentence. Katsuki just huffed and angrily looked away while the rest of the class laughed. They pulled Lots for their partners and Cementoss set up their terrain. The people who were called first found their spots as the rest continued to be informed.

“Kaminari and Jirou.” Mr. Aizawa started calling the last people.

“Yaoyorozu and Midoriya.”

“Sero and Ashido.”

“Kirishima and Bakugo.” They high-fived.

“Tokoyami and Hagakure.”

Eijirou was exited to spar with Katsuki, bouncing on the tips of his toes and throwing air punches.

“Calm yer tits, Shitty Hair. Jeez,” Katsuki smirked, “I'm gonna blow your ass sky high.”

“Oh I don't think so, Blasty. I’mna rock ya!”

“Was that s’pposed to be a pun?” He smirked, mocking the other boy. Eijirou  dramatically placed a hand on his chest, gasping loudly. Katsuki heh-hehd.

“Isn’t that just ironic, they’re partners today.” Mina glared suspiciously while Hanta glanced over.

“BEAT HIS ASS, EIJI!!!” Mina screamed, cupping her hands around her mouth to make sure he heard from how far away they were. Eijirou looked over with a determined face and gave her a thumbs up. Katsuki rolled his eyes.

When they got started, Eijirou and Katsuki were already super into the fight, throwing punches, explosions, and kicks at each other. After a little while, Eijirou tripped over Katsuki’s leg when going in for a punch and fell on top of him. The redhead tried to catch himself while Katsuki tried to catch him too, entwining their hands for support as they piled on the floor.

Now laying on each other, Eijirou smiled over Katsuki as he visibly relaxed, breathing still uneasy from the exhaustion.

“Jesus, sorry!” Eijirou apologized but this was too funny for him to be sincere. He let out some laughs, loud and breathy, his heart beating hard. Katsuki started to laugh too, at first he was upset but he didn't care that much anymore. They laughed together, not getting up from how they’d fallen. Snorting and cackling filled their portion of the gym. It felt like forever before Mr. Aizawa finally walked over to check on them, scolding them and telling them to get back up.

“Dude, that was like the cutest thing ever...” Hanta said, stopping his sparring with Mina because she was beaming over their laughter too.

“Uhg, I wish we were closer!! We could've heard what happened!” She stomped around, irritated.

“Yo, Denki! You see that?” Hanta yelled to the bright blonde who wasn’t sparring anymore either.

“Who didn’t see that??” Denki hollered back.

“Hey! You three! Get back to fighting!” Mr. Aizawa scolded them too before anything else could happen. He was visibly annoyed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Later, during the weekend, Katsuki and Eijirou were resting on the couch again. A regular ritual between the two. It was totally a lazy day, already around midday and they haven't done anything productive besides make breakfast.

Katsuki was reading, his legs resting on the coffee table in front of them while Eijirou was leaning into Katsuki on his right side. Eijirou was also bored. He liked the warmth the other boy brought him and almost didn't want to move but he had to do something to satisfy his boredom, Candy Crush wasn’t going to cut it anymore. Then, smacking Eijirou in the face, he had an idea. One that Katsuki probably wouldn't like but that just made it all the more entertaining.

He turns to the blonde, eyes wide in excitement and taps his shoulder. Of course Katsuki doesn't even look. He’s sucked into his book, he doesn't give a shit. Eijirou expected this but he isn't discouraged, Katsuki’s ignored him like this before. He taps him again. A little grumble follows but Katsuki continues to read.

“Katsukiiiiii,” Eijirou whines then the book worm finally gives in.

“What?” He scowls.

“Feel my fucking WRATH!” Eijirou blurts, tickling Katsuki’s stomach and receiving glances and shocked looks from his classmates in the living room. The blonde just stares in confusion and annoyance.

“Awe, you’re not ticklish there... what about... THERE!” He moves closer, removing his hands from Katsuki’s stomach switching to his collar bones, careful not to touch his chest or the surrounding area as he knows of the sensitivity. Katsuki immediately tries to hold in a laugh and immediately fails.

“W-wait-“ He struggles, the redhead messes with him more, not moving away from his collar bones as obnoxious snorting leaves his best friend’s mouth. Eijirou was laughing along, a rushing feeling in his chest that he couldn't explain all that well.

“Okay! O-okay! Y-you fuc-cking-!” Eijirou pulled back as Katsuki was breathing heavily, trying to contain himself again. Their breathing steadily slowed and Eijirou put his hands up in surrender. Only to be attacked himself.
Katsuki swiftly moved for revenge, now on top of Eijirou, pinning him where he sat and tickling him senselessly.

“I- I would’ve n-never thought y-you’d be intere-ested in tickli-ing!” He tried. Eijirou also didn't think he would be that open to doing this publicly, they've already gotten some funny looks and giggles

______________________

Midoriya and Uraraka already had said something about their tickling as they walked by, Eijirou thought it was funny but he didn't know what exactly they meant.

“They're so cute together.” Uraraka shared with Midoriya, he nodded then said,

“Kirishima-kun’s been great for Kacchan! I don't even think they realize.”

Realize what?

It’s not like they were trying to keep their words secret but Eijirou couldn’t help think maybe he wasn’t supposed to hear that. He also couldn’t help but think about what they had meant.

The next day, the Bakusquad, still without Eijirou, thought it would be a good time to meet again. They met after Katsuki went to bed in Mina’s room, thinking he’d spawn randomly if they mentioned him again.

“Okay, so... they’re basically dating,” Mina stated, holding her hands together and extending them dramatically.

“Yeah, we got that.” Denki and Hanta chimed in.

“We need to get them to fucking realize their feelings for each other somehow!” Denki shouted, annoyed by their obliviousness.

“And I thought I was the stupid one.” He added.

So, that was their new mission. They called it, ‘Mission KiriBaku!’

______________________

The Bakusquad was starting their mission today. They were walking behind the dumbass lovebirds with quite a bit of distance but enough to hear their conversations. They were walking to school and it was again, freezing.

“Hey, have you noticed Denks, Mina and Hanta following us around a lot recently?”

Eijirou asks the spiky blonde holding his hand, shooting a free thumb to point at said stalkers. The Bakusquad all flinched from the sudden point out.

“Yeah, I have. Damn losers need a life.” He paused before, “GO GET A FUCKING LIFE.” He spun around yelling and sending off warning explosions, letting go of Eijirou’s hand for a split second. They all looked completely shocked, that kind of “natural” stance after someone says to ‘act natural.’

“Ohmygod...”Katsuki pinched the bridge of his nose, “Let's ditch them.”

“‘Kay.” And they ran holding hands, Eijirou smiled as they left them behind.

That night, Eijirou and Katsuki—having discussed this earlier—decided to set up a mission of their own.
They were going to catch the Bakusquad red-handed. They were all currently sitting in Eijirou’s room playing bored games and chatting. He was leaning against his bed, Katsuki had his head on Eijirou’s shoulder, not participating, just resting his eyes.

The redhead didn't know why but this made his heart squeeze. He thought it was cute for some reason. Suddenly Katsuki lifted his head and groaned.

“Fuck, my traps hurt.” He whined, cracking his neck and knuckles.

“I can massage them for you,” Eijirou offered.

“Shit, that would be fucking great, Ei.”

The redhead got up to sit on his bed while Katsuki stayed on the floor for a better position.
Hanta, Mina, and Denki all glanced at each other with knowing looks, thinking about how much they act like an old married couple.

“Y’know what? Screw it,” Mina mumbled, then switching to her regular voice, “Bakubro, have you ever... dated anyone?” She cooed, a smirk on her face. Hanta and Denki looked at her with slight worry and Katsuki ignored her at first, moaning quietly as Eijirou kneaded his trapezius muscle.

“Fuck that, no. What’s it to you anyway?” He finally said groaning  slightly and closing his eyes.

“Ya sure?” She pesters.

“What kind of dumbass question is that? I'd know if I'd been in a relationship dammit.”

He peaked out of one eye, furrowing his brows in annoyance with his head laid back on Eijirou's lap. The redhead was confused as to why Mina was asking, he was also more confused as to why he felt so relieved when Katsuki said he’d never been in a relationship.
They all continued playing bored games and video games, ignoring Mina’s question and Katsuki being the party pooper he is, going to bed after about an hour so they all just left.

In Mr. Aizawa’s class the following day, Eijirou was working on a project with Denki as his partner. They’ve been working on this for a few days now, including the weekends and since they’re almost done, Denki took this as his chance to put the mission into place.

“So... Kacchan, huh?” Denki started, leaning his elbow on Eijirou’s desk.

“Um, what about him?” Eijirou looked up from what he was writing, one eyebrow raised.
“Ya know~ Kacchan, you’re spending so much time with him. You guys seem super close.”

“You’re not getting jealous, are you?”

Eijirou chuckled, still confused about what Denki was trying to say.

The other boy just bleated and, “Do you like him, is what I’m asking. Bro, do you like Kacchan?”

“Um, derr. Of course I do! He’s my best friend! But don't worry, man, you’re my best friend too.” Eijirou just smiled, not taking a second to think.

Denki face palmed.

“C’mon, Eijirou! You guys hold hands for fucks sake. You snuggle and share food!”

“I share food with you guys too and what’s so bad about holding hands?” He defended, an annoyed feeling in his chest but also overlapping one of... embarrassment? His face burned as the feeling heightened more.

“I- I-“ Eijirou tried, not finding the words.

“He’s special, right? It's okay, dude.”

“S- special,” He repeated, then slowly but surely, realization hurled itself at Eijirou. It showed on his cheeks and the tips of his ears, he stood quickly out of his seat, the chair screeching on the floor and alerting everyone else in the room. He burst out of class, running down the hall, his mind screaming at him as his heart threatened to explode and he heaved for air.

Special rang in his head, repeating over and over as he ran.

Over the next week, Eijirou had been avoiding physical contact to or from Katsuki. Being that close made him nervous since he’d realized his true feelings, not only that but, it made him feel like he was using his best friend because he didn't know if Katsuki felt the same way. Throughout that week, he also realized how stupid he’s been. He’s liked Katsuki for a while, hell, he might love him. But he can't stop thinking about:

Was I too close?

Why have I been so fucking stupid?

Even the intrusive thoughts tried to tell me.

Does he like me too?

Mina and Hanta noticed the distance Eijirou had been giving Katsuki, and they blew up at Denki. He told them that he wasn't trying to be discouraging but there wasn't much he could do to fix it. They realized that the dumbasses we're going to have to work it out on their own.

______________________

Eijirou was in UA’s library for some quiet. He could've gone to his room but he didn't feel like it, sometimes he likes a change of scenery. He was doing his homework, scribbling down notes from hero history class as his brain started to hurt. Then he saw some blonde from the corner of his eye and he glanced up.

“Hey, Katsuki!” He waved and immediately was shushed by a few different voices. He cringed as Katsuki stared at him with his signature death glare, holding some books. The glare made Eijirou’s pulse speed up, his beautifully angry stare highlighting his bright, blood red eyes. Wait- angry stare? Katsuki looked away, ignoring him and Eijirou quickly got up to check what was wrong.

“Sup,” He said as he approached, lifting his hand for a tiny wave. They were over by the Book Returns box and Katsuki was continuing to ignore him.

“You okay?” He tried again.

“Fuck you, I'm fucking amazing.” Finally, no more silent treatment. Eijirou sighed in relief, not registering why there was anger towards him.

“You’re being sarcastic?”

“I’mbeingfuckingsarcasticyoumoron.”

“Oh, okay.” Eijirou flinched, hurt seeping into his chest and lungs. Katsuki was really angry.

“I- I thought we were close but then you started to fucking distance from me. So, get out of my face, Shitty Hair.”

He spat as he clenched his fist, knuckles turning white. Then he walked away and Eijirou stood there like an idiot. He quickly gathered his emotions and went to the table with his stuff, he put it all in his backpack and sprinted for his life, he wanted to make things right. He was going to make things right.

“Kats!” He breathed, never will he run with a backpack again if he can help it. He was in front of the school’s entrance, hunching over his knees and holding his stomach, gasping for air. Katsuki, of course, didn't stop for him. He kept walking back to the dorms so Eijirou had to catch up again. He ran, stoping Katsuki in his tracks by firmly holding his shoulders.

“Katsuki, I need to talk to you.” Deep breath. “I fucked up-“

“No shit.”

Eijirou sighed, the blonde wasn't being cooperative, it's understandable but he needed him to be right now.

“Y’know what? Let’s go!” Eijirou grabbed Katsuki’s hand, his heart in his throat. The other boy was taken aback, trying to get Eijirou to let go, blasting his hand, tugging it away, but Eijirou held tight, hardening his hand. He dragged Katsuki to his room so they weren't stuck in the cold, and no matter how much Katsuki resisted, they were going to talk it out.

“Katsuki, I’m not gonna force you to be here,” he started, Katsuki’s hand on his door handle, “But I want to talk to you. So we can sort things out. So we can be close again.” Eijirou’s voice broke slightly, tears gathering at the corners of his eyes and he cringed at his emotions.

He sat down on his bed and Katsuki backed away from the door to join him. He didn't say anything for a while and they sat in a comfortable silence, one that was familiar and natural.

Like nothing had changed.

“What happened?” Katsuki finally said something, not looking at Eijirou yet.

He huffed out a weak laugh, “Denki did.”

“Dunce Face.”

“Pfft, yeah...” He took a deep breath, “But really, I just- I realized some things. I didn't wanna touch you... wi-without knowing,” He cut himself off and there was silence again. A few minutes went by then...

“Know what?” Katsuki looked at the redhead solemnly, and Eijirou stared back, searching for something in his eyes.

“If you...” His eyes flicked down to Katsuki’s lips. Slowly, he closed the distance. Eijirou brought his hand up to lightly touch Katsuki’s cheek, all he could hear was his pulse pounding in his ears, his breathing and the regret running through his mind. Their lips were barely touching, the gap was barely there, all that was needed was one simple movement.

Katsuki’s breath hitched and he pulled back. His face showing a mix of emotions, ones Eijirou couldn't exactly tell but, he knew what he was feeling himself was hurt.

“I don’t- I haven’t- fuck. I’m sorry.” Katsuki rushed out of his room, slamming the door with a bang.

Eijirou’s heart might've stopped right there. He sat on his bed, rejected, trying to hold back sobs. All of the time they spent together, with how close they were, Eijirou thought that maybe he had a chance.

He was wrong.

He clenched his shirt over his chest, hot tears streaking his freckled face. He laid back in his bed, curling into the fetal position and held his pillow with his other hand.

Was he so stupid that he couldn't even recognize his best friend’s lack of feelings?

Or his own?

The next morning, having passed out early but woken up late, Katsuki was—for some wild reason—still there.

Outside Eijirou’s door, in front of his own, scrolling on his phone and listening to music on his hearing aids. He could hear squeaky notes from where he stood, eyes wide and puffy.

“Ka- Katsuki?”
He looked up, pausing his music.

“Why are you waiting for me? Wha- I don't want you to be late.” Eijirou’s voice broke and his eyes burned, tears threatening to fall.

The blonde glanced at his phone again, an indifferent look on his face.

“We’re already late.” He said softly, walking closer.

“I wanted to say, that,” He paused, took a deep breath, “I don't want you to be sad.”

He grabbed Eijirou’s hand and kissed his cheek.

“I’m sorry for leaving like that last night but, I need to... think. I've got some stuff to sort through, I’ve never liked anyone before. I still don't know if I do.” He rubbed Eijirou’s hand with his thumb, something Eijirou always does when comforting Katsuki.

“I’ll be patient,” He spoke determinedly, “You know how I am! It's okay, really. Take your time.” Eijirou bounced, squeezing the other boy’s hand a few times.

“Now let's get going, Mr. Aizawa’s already gonna beat us for sure, might at well not make it a death sentence.” He joked, relief spreading through his chest like liquid.

Further into the week, Eijirou was hanging out in Katsuki’s room after school, playing on his Nintendo Switch. He was grunting and jerking around anxiously as he played, trying not to get killed. So far he was surviving but it was stressful. Katsuki was trying and failing to read. The movement coming from his best friend shook the bed and himself, the loud noises making it hard to focus. Weirdly, it was nice but Katsuki was done reading at this point. He inserted his bookmark and closed his book, setting it on the nightstand.

“God, you’re annoying.” He joked.

Eijirou scoffed, “And yet, you still hang out with me. AW- fuck, I’m dead.” He pouted, leaning on Katsuki as he set down his console. He quickly got over his death and faced the blonde, a friendly smile covering his face.

So, you stopped reading. What’s up?”

“You’re a dork.” Katsuki grinned pleasantly. A soft smile, one not seen often, spreading on his cheeks.

“Yup, you constantly tell me. Seriously though, what’s happinin’?”

Katsuki took a shaky breath, his smile fading as he grabbed Eijirou’s hand.

“I- I wanted to- fuck, why is this so hard?”

He fumbled his words a few times and the redhead sat there patiently, awaiting his response.

“What you said back then... yeah, me too.”

“What did I say?”

Katsuki face palmed internally, he’s never been good with words, Eijirou knew this.

Ilikeyoutoo.” he mumbled quickly.

“Ah?”

“I like you, too.” Katsuki tried again, still very quiet.

“Uh, wummortime?” Eijirou said cheekily.

“I LIKE YOU, DAMMIT. GET IT THROUGH YOU’RE THICK FUCKING SKULL, HAIR-FOR-BRAINS!!” He burst, and Eijirou’s ears rang as his chest tightened.

“Fucking finally!” Eijirou sighed heavily, “I know I said I would be patient but the goddamned suspense has been killing me.”

“Shuddup and kiss me, Stupid.” Katsuki grabbed Eijirou’s shirt collar pulling him in for a soft kiss.

They stayed like that for a bit, lips touching lightly while the world had gone still. Eijirou hummed in happiness, his hand moving to Katsuki’s hair. Once they finally pulled away, Eijirou and Katsuki’s cheeks were flushed bright pink. Their pupils were shot, hearts pumping together, fingers locked to never let go.

“Can we do that again?” Eijirou gave him the puppy eyes, Katsuki hasn't been able to resist those.

“You’re a fucking dork.” He repeated and they kissed again.

Eijirou pulled away only to go back and kiss Katsuki’s cheek, the corner of his eye, his forehead then down to his cheekbone, continuing the soft kisses all along his neck.

“Blasty, why were we so oblivious to this shit?” He paused the kissing after leaving a mark on Katsuki's collar bone.

“I don't know. I think we just assumed everything we were doing was normal because it already felt so natural and right.”

“Bro, that's so fucking smart.” He chuckled and Katsuki smacked him on the head.

“Don't fucking call me bro after kissing me. I’ll kill you.”

“Heh, please, bro.” Eijirou teased and Katsuki exploded his quirk in his face but, he just hardened his skin and laughed as the other boy’s face flushed again.

“Y’know, there was so many things that I wanted to do with you that I didn't think was as romantic as I realize it is now.” He face palmed, resting his hand on his face for a second before loosely dropping it into Katsuki’s lap. The blonde grabbed that one too now, holding it softly.

“Like what?” He prompted.

Eijirou chuckled and looked up at the ceiling then back down to his best friend, “I wanted to take you to this restaurant I found that I thought you’d like. They’ve got lots of different spicy foods. I don't know if I’d be able to survive but I wanted to see you enjoy yourself there.”

“That’s really fucking sappy.” Katsuki kissed his cheek and Eijirou beamed slightly.

“I also wanted to hug you as much as I could and kiss you but those were just intrusive thoughts that I thought my mind randomly made up. I don't understand how I didn't fucking realize after it kept happening. You were in my mind like, 24/7 and I was so oblivious to my own feelings. Fuck, it's ridiculous!”

“Hell yeah, that’s ridiculous.” He smirked.

“You’re one to talk, Kats.” Eijirou rolled his eyes.

They talked for a little while longer, hanging out and complaining about their stupidity.
