I Hate You (Do You?)

Summary:

When Akane stomps into the student council room angry and exhausted, Teru is determined to help him out. However, it doesn't go as planned.

Notes:

Criticism is very welcomed. I'm trying my best to NOT make them OOC, but I don't know if I did a good job at it haha... Anyway! This is extremely rushed and not written the best. Enjoy anyway. <3

Work Text:

The young blonde boy sat alone at the large wooden table in the lit room. The loud air conditioning echoed through the empty room, the cold air harshly blowing on his back.

The boy abruptly turned his head when the door slowly creaked open, and a familiar person stepped foot into the room.

“Aoi.” The blondie beamed as a puff of auburn hair entered his vision.

A shorter boy with long messy auburn hair, a cute pastel vest, and dark square glasses stood at the wooden door with a gray school bag in his hand. He slammed the door behind him and began making his way to the table.

The boy chuckled cheerfully as the pale Akane wobbled to the empty seat next to him. He plopped down on the plastic chair, exhausted. He immediately banged his face onto the table and groaned.

Teru slightly jumped back in his seat in reaction to the sudden action.

“Don’t go breaking those glasses now!” Teru laughed. “I know you’re tired, but please don't face plant on the table with your glasses on. I went through so much to make those for you.”

“Shut up, Minamoto,” Akane mumbled.

Despite this, he sat up, took off his glasses, and politely placed them on the table. Then, he slammed his head onto the table again, groaning.

“Feisty! What happened to you ?” Teru crossed his arms and leaned in close to Akane, amused.

“Ugh!” He turned his head away from the other boy and rested on his check. “Just leave me alone.”

“No can do, Aoi! I can’t leave my vice president to rot away like this! Plus, you have work to do.” Teru reached out to ruffle Akane’s hair but was unfortunately swatted away.

Your vice president? You don’t own me.” Akane rolled his eyes, picking himself up and crossing his arms.

Teru chuckled. “You’re right. However, as the student council president, I must look after the students. It's my job to take care of you.” He smirked.

"..." No response.

“Aoi, tell me,” Teru suddenly became serious, the tone of his voice changing. “What’s wrong?”

“Ugh!” Akane gritted his teeth, his face turning red.  “Fuck off!” He slapped his hands over his ears.

Akane suddenly stood up, pushing the chair he was previously sitting on, which hit the air conditioning behind them. Just as he was about to walk away, he felt a cold hand wrap around his wrist. However, his grip wasn’t tight, which meant Akane could pull away without a fight. But he didn’t.

“Aoi, seriously, what’s up? It’s not like you to act like this, even to me.”

Akane turned around to see the blonde boy face plastered with a frown and furrowed brows. He looked genuinely worried for him.

Well fuck.

Akane sighed.

He reluctantly turned around and sat back down.

“Aoi.” Teru quietly called out.

 “…”

“I want to help you. Talk to me.” He leaned in closer to Akane.

“…”

“Silent treatment?” Teru softly chuckled. “You’re so incredibly stubborn.” He rested his head on his hand, his eyes never leaving Akane.

“God!” Akane cried out without warning. “You're so infuriating.” He rubbed his cheek and rolled his eyes, clearly irritated.  “I hate you so much.”

Teru’s eyes widened and his mouth was left agape. He raised a hand to point to himself. “You hate me?”

“Why are you asking me that as if it wasn’t obvious?” Akane raised a brow. “Don’t tell me I have to make it clear to you and your stupid head.” He laughed.

“...”

“…”

“I hate you.”

“Well, I don’t hate you.”

“…”

Akane’s eyes widened. “You don't?”

“No, why would I?” Teru tilted his head to the side, completely puzzled.

“Now you’re just making me look stupid.” Akane pouted, crossing his arms.

“Why do you hate me?” Teru asked urgently as if he was desperately dying to know the answer.

Why ?” Akane scoffed. “I know you’re an exorcist and the student council president and all but you’re way too nice to people. People take advantage of you and your kindness all the time, yet you don’t even care! I don't understand why you’re so nice to everyone despite how they act towards you. It pisses me off. You're so full of yourself and act as if you're able to single-handily able to defeat every supernatural in existence, which you probably can because you're scarily strong for some goddamned reason, but I don't give a shit! And when you lose that fake cheerful attitude and show off your annoying genuine smile, you’re prettier than most girls I know! It seriously ticks me off!” He breathed heavily, trying to catch his breath after going on a rampage.

“...”

“You think I’m pretty?” A light pink color dusted Teru’s cheeks as a small smile started to take form.

“…”

“I didn’t say that!” Akane instantly turned bright red, putting his hands up in defense.

Teru quickly shook his head as if he were a puppy trying to shake off water. “You definitely did!” He leaned in with an enthusiastic smile plastered on his face. “I heard you! You said that I’m prettier than most girls you know.”

“Well, that’s- ugh!” Akane pushed Teru’s face away and gritted his teeth, his face turning more red. (If that was even possible.)

“That’s another thing! You make me say stupid shit without even realizing it!” He slammed his head on the table once again, hiding his flushed face.

“How is this my fault?” Teru laughed.

“It just is.” Akane murmured.

“That makes no sense!”

“I hate you so much.”

“Really?”

“Yes.”

“You hate me?”

“....”

“Yes.”

“You hesitated that time.”

“Shut up.”

Teru giggled. He beamed as he looked down at Akane’s hand, which lay on his thigh. He confidently reached out and took his hand in his. Akane immediately flinched, pulling his hand away without thinking.

“What the hell are you doing?” Akane scowled.

“Hm?” Teru tilted his head to the side. “I’m showing affection.” He grinned.

“Disgusting!”

“…” Akane slowly relaxed.

“Do it again.”

Teru chuckled softly before taking Akane’s hand again, this time interwinding their long slender fingers together. He slightly rubbed Akane’s knuckle with his thumb as he lifted their joined hands to his face.  Teru lightly pressed a kiss on Akane’s hand, his eyes never leaving his. He watched in glee as the auburn-haired boy burned red.

“Do you still hate me?” Teru asked teasingly.

“Yes. I do.” Akane stated blankly.

“Well, that’s a shame.” Teru brought Akane’s hand to his cheek. “Because…

 I like you..”
