Work Text:

Though parenthood may be a scary thing, it is also both immensely beautiful and special for both parents. However, it doesn’t just begin when the baby is born. Even before your mate confirms their pregnancy, noticeable changes in their behavior can be tell-tale signs of the budding life (or lives) within them.

Both behavioral and physical changes occur during pregnancy, including cravings of seemingly off-putting combinations. The entire body rewires itself to make itself capable of carrying a child, and such shifts are burdened on the mother of the baby. It should be known that emotional turmoil is not uncommon and that the sire of the baby should present themselves as kindly to their mate as possible, to be understanding of their mate in order to provide both ease and comfort during the pregnancy.

Sehun’s always been skinny. From the en suite, Chanyeol sees him lather up soap over his body– and despite his spent out body, the sight sparks a flame within him, what he focuses on more is of the sharp jutting of Sehun’s bones, his lanky figure made of sinewy muscle and creamy skin. He sees the outline of his spine, vertebrae noticeable from how he stands under the jet of water.

He hasn’t been eating as often as usual. Even before they started dating, eating was never really a concern. Chanyeol cooks more often than not; not because Sehun doesn’t, but because he loves to see Sehun eat the food he makes. Some sort of primal thing, maybe, such as how the leader of a pack hunts for his mate; though chopping vegetables and grilling meat bought from the butcher can hardly be considered as hunting.

Now, whenever Chanyeol asks him if he wants to go out to eat— Sehun doesn’t say ramyeon is his favorite, but that’s what he always orders to the point Chanyeol knows his exact specifications (budae jjigae ramyeon with extra spice, no spam and double radish sprouts)-- his answer is “maybe later.” Later never comes, and in the middle of the night, Sehun’s eating some store bought ramen with a clear look of disdain. It's a cute sight of furrowed brows and a petulant pout, but a concerning one as well.

Chanyeol has a pot of stock simmering on the stove when Sehun emerges from his room, a robe over a pair of blue shorts and damp blonde hair pushed out of his face. “What’re you making?” He asks, pulling out a stool by the kitchen island, taking a seat with his arms propped up on the counter.

“Budae jjigae ramyeon,” Chanyeol says, sparing a glance at Sehun from the cutting board. The younger man looks like he’s contemplating something– his lips drawn into a line, his shoulders tense. “Do you want it spicy?” He asks, already expecting the answer. After all, all the physical exertion in bed they partook in was enough to make a village hungry.

What he doesn’t expect is the “No thanks. I’m actually not that hungry.” that Sehun replies with.

“Really?” The wolfboy pauses chopping spring onions to give him a look, an eyebrow raised, “I thought you wanted to eat?”

“Not anymore,” Sehun shakes his head, “I’m just thirsty.” He leans over and takes Chanyeol’s cup of water, stealing a sip.

“But you like noodles, right?”

“Yeah. But I’m not in the mood.”

“What do you want? I can make it or we can order it.” Chanyeol offers, “Samgyeopsal? Jajangmyeon? Kimbap?”

Sehun’s frown deepens. “I… don’t know,” he sighs as though Chanyeol’s question burdens him, “I don’t want anything.”

“..... Okay," comes Chanyeol’s minute response. “But I’m not going to eat alone.” He tilts his head towards the cabinets, “Get a bowl.”

Sehun opens his mouth to protest, but is cut off noticing the sheer intensity of Chanyeol’s stare. His cat ears flatten against his head but he heaves himself off the stool regardless, dragging his feet to the cupboard.

He watches Chanyeol spoon the meaty stew into his bowl, “Did you make it extra spicy?”

“I always do.”

They eat in silence. But there’s an itch beneath Chanyeol’s skin– something just doesn’t feel quite right.

The ending of summer ushers in colder temperatures, pulling their side of the world into shades of red, orange, brown, the air cool and crisp as the nights draw in shorter and shorter.

Mornings become as cold as the night. The sky is a pale, powdery blue when Sehun sets off for work.

As a fashion director of a famous magazine, his work has him up early and sleeping late. And at this point– Chanyeol has fully moved in with him, since he produces music from home— unless companies request him to come into the studio to finalize the song’s mixing– and since Sehun’s place is closer to where he works, it’d made no sense for Sehun to move in with him.

He sees Sehun off in the morning. He kisses the catboy goodbye, wishing him a good day at work. It’s hard to see him leave– especially now with how utterly exhausted Sehun looks.

Dressed up in a blazer, a suit shirt with its top two buttons undone, a sleek messenger bag, slacks, and sneakers– he looks stylish, expensive. But the purplish crescents under his eyes, the tousling of his hair that’s more thanks to the lack of sleep than hair product is what draws the wolfboy’s concern.

Chanyeol reaches out to fix Sehun’s collar. “Are you sure you can’t take a day off?”

The corner of the catboy’s lips quirk upwards. It’d be charming if he didn’t look so tired. “I can’t. I have an important project to work on and the deadline is this month. If I miss today I’ll put myself weeks behind.”

Insisting is pointless but still, Chanyeol tries. He pulls Sehun closer by the lapels of his coat, “Still,” he complains, leaning down slightly– Sehun isn’t much shorter than him, but this angle makes it so that their lips are hardly an inch apart– “couldn’t you work from home?”

Sehun’s shoulders sink, his gray gaze dismayed. “I wish I could,” he exhales, his breath minty and cool. He leans in and presses a kiss against Chanyeol’s lips, “I’ll see you tonight.” And before Chanyeol knows it, Sehun’s already down the hall, disappearing behind elevator doors.

Hours pass by, and though he’s in the studio Sehun had built for him, a guitar in his lap recording for a new artist’s pop song, all he can think about is the bags underneath Sehun’s eyes instead of focusing on the chord progression.

While debating visiting the catboy at work or calling him, his phone vibrates beside his keyboard, the buzzing breaking him from his reverie.

It’s a number he doesn’t recognize, but something itches within him to answer it, so he does regardless. “Hello?”

“Yes, hello. I’m Sehun-ssi’s coworker. Are you Chanyeol?”

“I am,” Chanyeol says, feeling his eyebrows furrow– why on earth would Sehun’s coworker call him in the middle of the day? “What’s up?”

“Sehun collapsed at work. We’re on the way to the hospital—”

A bucket of ice drenches Chanyeol and he jerks up, forgetting the guitar on his lap. It thuds loudly on the floor, but all he does is say, “Send me the location, I’m on my way.”

He manages to throw on a proper pair of sweats and a jacket by the time the coworker texts him the hospital location. Chanyeol runs several red lights on the way there.

When he gets to the hospital, he rushes to the main desk– and then practically teleports to Sehun’s room. Once he’s in the room, all his senses zero in on him. Sehun’s normally peachy complexion is ashen, his blonde hair pasted to his forehead, dampened with sweat. With his eyes closed, he looks peaceful, almost as if in the midst of slumber. Chanyeol sucks in the sterile air, uneasiness curling in his gut.

Without Chanyeol even saying a word, it’s as if Sehun merely senses him, his cat ears twitching first before his eyes flutter open.

“Hyung?” His voice is cracked, broken. Chanyeol is immediately at his side, brushing away hair from his forehead.

“Sehunnie,” he exhales, “what the hell happened?”

“Oh, uh, excuse me-–” A soft voice interrupts him– Chanyeol turns to the source, finally noticing the coworker– “I’m Suho, the one who called.” He stands up from the chair in the corner, “He fell unconscious in the middle of a set. I’ll be going now.” He doesn’t wait for a response, giving a tight smile at the both of them before heading out.

Chanyeol glances at Sehun, who's still blinking in clarity before looking back at the door. “I’ll be back in a second, okay?”

Sehun gives him a small nod, licking his chapped lips.

“Thanks for coming with him,” Chanyeol says to Suho, catching him before the other man is out the door. He has bunny ears, a nice smile.

“No problem. He said to call you before he passed out. Just keep me updated on his condition, yeah?” The man says.

Chanyeol nods. “Of course, Suho-ssi.”

“I better get going– the company is probably in disarray now.” Suho chuckles, and Chanyeol gives him a full ninety degree bow which Suho reciprocates, before wishing him farewell.

And when he heads back into the room, Sehun’s sitting cross-legged on the bed, scrolling through his phone.  Before Chanyeol can even say anything-- the doctor comes in, announcing themselves with a knock on the door. Gray hair pulled into a tight bun, graying fox ears, the doctor radiates warmth as she walks in. Chanyeol moves to stand beside Sehun, feeling his ears perk up.

“Congratulations, Sehun-ssi!” The doctor pulls a stool out from the desk by the door and rolls over to the bed, “You’re five weeks pregnant!” She announces, smiling at the both of them.

Chanyeol's tail jumps up so quickly he almost thinks he feels it snap. "Really?"

He gapes, looking from the doctor to Sehun, whose blonde ears flatten against his head. "What do you mean by 'really'?" Sehun seethes, sparing him a narrow eyed glance.

"No, I-uh, wow!" He reaches for Sehun's hands. "This is amazing!" Sehun doesn't look too amazed, and the pool of queasiness in Chanyeol's gut deepens-- his tail dips.

The doctor clears her throat, looking at the two of them behind her glasses. "What you choose to do with the pregnancy is up to you," she pointedly looks at Sehun, "But as for now, are there any concerns?"

“Uh, not really—-“ Sehun says, but is cut off.

“Actually, doc," Chanyeol shifts on his feet, "Sehun hasn’t been eating properly for months. I’ve had to force him to eat or else he’ll go hours without eating. And he’s tired more than usual. Is that normal for a pregnancy?”

“Indeed. Both lethargy and nausea are quite normal in the first trimester.” The doctor says, and a weight absolves itself from Chanyeol’s shoulders. “But if his condition persists past the third month, it will be a cause for concern. We’ll schedule you bi-weekly appointments with an ob-gyn who will check up on both you and the baby as the pregnancy progresses." She clicks her pen, scribbling something on her clipboard, "I'll also prescribe some prenatal vitamins specified for lethargy and stress." Focusing back on them, "Now, do either of you have any other questions?”

All Chanyeol wants is to be alone with Sehun. And Sehun seemingly picks up on that. He gives the doctor a shake of his head, “I guess not.”

With pat on the thighs, the doctor pulls herself out of the rolling stool, “Well, if there’s any more problems, make sure to give us a call. After getting dressed, you’ll have to sign some papers at the front desk and then you’re free to head out. Again, congratulations!” She's out the door with a wave, leaving both parents-to-be alone

And the silence that falls between them is deafening.

“This is a good thing…” Chanyeol starts tentatively, “Right?”

Sehun shifts in the bed, turning to look at Chanyeol, “Of course it is,” he snaps. “Why would you ever think differently?”

“I wasn’t expecting it to happen like this,” the wolfboy admits, moving on to Sehun’s bed, and Sehun pulls his knees closer to his chest to make room for him. “Something less… worrisome.”

Looking down, the catboy exhales and as he fiddles with the watch on Chanyeol’s wrist, he sounds shy. “Neither did I.”

“But it’ll only get better from here.” Chanyeol absolves, “You have me, don’t you? We’re in this together.” He intertwines his fingers with Sehun’s, his heart swelling in his chest.

An absurd thing to say to soothe lethargy and nausea, but it seems to work with Sehun. His ears perk up, “I know.” The catboy meets his gaze, gray eyes watery, “I’m glad I have you.”

A crystalline tear falls that Chanyeol reaches out with his free hand to wipe away. “Aw, you cryin’?”

Sehun sniffles, his lips drawing into a frown as he swats Chanyeol’s hand away, “No!” His bottom lip juts out cutely, “I’m just tired. And hungry. Can we leave?”

Chanyeol slips off of the bed, “Get dressed so we can go home.”

“Look away.” Sehun tells him as he picks up his clothes from the chair beside him, a flush riding his cheeks. Chanyeol gives him an incredulous look.

“You’re having my baby– and we have sex regularly and I—” He bites his tongue under the inscrutable look Sehun gives him. Come to think of it, the last few times they’ve slept together, Sehun’s been uncharacteristically shy post-coitus, whether they’re redressing or in the shower. Maybe that’s a pregnancy thing too– so Chanyeol steps back and wordlessly pulls the curtain in front of him.

And in record speed, Sehun slides the curtains back, having pulled his suit and shirt slack within moments. “I want burgers.” He says, slipping on his sneakers. When he straightens up again, Chanyeol wraps his jacket over Sehun's shoulders. “With a milkshake. And a lot of fries.”

Ushering Sehun out of the room, Chanyeol can only chuckle, “Of course, of course.”

The further the pregnancy progresses, it’s not only the mother who will go through forays of emotion. As hybrids, there is an innate desire to protect your mate that only increases the further in their pregnancy. Some deeper feelings can be mingled with pride, which is common in showing a couple’s standing in society– a healthy mate, pup and a dominant sire, all alluding to power. It should be known to be cautious of alluding such behavior, lest your mate detests it. It must be a top priority to keep your mate and the mother of the pup happy.

By the time Chanyeol’s twenty-eighth birthday rolls around, Sehun is three months pregnant. Much to Chanyeol’s disappointment, the time doesn’t show. Sehun hardly looks pregnant at all, and Chanyeol doesn’t know if it’s his "wolf instincts” that make him wish Sehun was showing more— that Chanyeol’s marking on him was more evident.

It’s a thought Chanyeol entertains despite the fact it relinquishes Sehun of his own autonomy— he cannot claim Sehun as his entirelyhe has no power to do so as a man.

It’s a thought that’s completely and utterly feral. And he likes it. A sliver of possession he himself is privy to; a part of their relationship he keeps to himself. Sehun is too kind, too endearing, too pretty to have someone else have what Chanyeol has of him.

Their times spent together, relaxing, on late night dates, walking on the beach, sharing space in the same room in silence, the time spent in bed, slick, sweat, skin to skin— the masks worn in public taken off to expose their true humanity. Who else if not him deserves to see Sehun those ways? And at the same time, the world should know how Chanyeol has claimed Sehun; the catboy carries his baby, the amalgam of their love and devotion to one another.

Perhaps Sehun is aware of the depths of Chanyeol’s desires— if he wasn’t, he wouldn’t have agreed to keep the pregnancy privy until the six month mark from people outside their closest relatives and dearest friends.

“Do you think we should tell our families now?” Chanyeol says over breakfast one day. Sehun looks up from his mug, an eyebrow raised. “About the baby.”

Sehun sips his coffee— decaf, with newly purchased organic creamer— “So soon?” He frowns at the bottom of his mug, “I thought you wanted to keep it private.”

“I did– I do,” Chanyeol amends, “I only meant so that it’s not so much of a surprise when they meet our baby.”

Sehun places his mug delicately on the table, mulling over his words with a hum. “‘Suppose you’re right. I want it just to be us for as long as it can be.” He looks at Chanyeol, his eyes pools of soft, slate gray, lips curving up fondly. Heat prickles Chanyeol’s body; his heart swells in his chest. He wants to reach out and kiss Sehun fiercely. He instead takes a long drink of his too-hot tea as Sehun continues, “But yeah. In a few months, when baby park will be too hard to hide, we should tell them.”

Sehun then tears into a piece of toast and chews nonchalantly, as though he hasn’t just consumed Chanyeol’s heart whole.

The wolfboy leans over the table to wipe away the stray crumbs at the corner of his lips. Sehun’s kittenish tongue darts out and licks the pad of his thumb– and the heat that traverses through Chanyeol’s body is now for an entirely different reason.

Amongst mood shifts, you may notice that the mother of the baby desires the presence of the baby's sire more frequently due to the influx of hormones in their body. Whether it be doing mundane tasks together—

Sehun is a relatively independent hybrid. He doesn't ask Chanyeol to do things with him, doesn't ask him to do things for him-- even before they got together.

They're grocery shopping, a mundane task that since having gotten pregnant, Sehun they can't do alone because god forbid Chanyeol forgets Sehun's favorite chocolates, or if Sehun realizes once they're home that he forgot to pick up a pack of strawberry ice lollies from the frozen section.

Besides, going out together builds upon the castle of their relationship-- Chanyeol imagines their baby sitting in the cart, eyes wide and ears perked up, looking around everything with awe. His heart swells.

"Do you want the chocolate cereal or the strawberry?" Sehun turns to him, holding out two boxes. Chanyeol points to the strawberry, and Sehun frowns. "But I want the chocolate one more." He pouts.

Chanyeol looks at him, exasperated yet fond. "Then why'd you ask?"

"Oh! What if we got both?"

"Might as well get the entire aisle." Chanyeol grumbles, "But yeah. Get 'em."

Sehun plops the boxes in the cart, leans over and presses a kiss against Chanyeol's lips. "Don't be mean. Do you not want me to feed your baby properly?"

Chanyeol eyes the neon boxes of cereal in the cart with disdain. "Sugary cereal is hardly proper."

"Well, fine. Maybe then it's not your baby." Sehun rubs his midriff, the corners of his lips curling up mischievously, "My baby wants sugary cereal. And my baby wants cupcakes." He turns around to head down the aisle, leaving Chanyeol malfunctioning. Sehun's blonde tail is perked up, swaying slightly as he sashays away from him.

"Hey! Don't say that," Chanyeol's brain finally connects with his feet, and he pushes the cart with quick strides to catch up with Sehun, "I like sugary things too," he whines. "And whose baby could it be, if not mine?" He dogs the catboy to the bakery section.

"Hm. I don't know." Sehun picks up a package of cupcakes, inspecting them, "Maybe a baker?"

The wolf boy gasps. "Don't say that!"

"What do you want me to say, then? As long as you let me get cereal, I'll say whatever."

"Say that you're mine. That this baby is mine and that we'll be a great big happy family."

Turning to him, Sehun coos and pokes his cheek. "Oh, you're such a sap. Don't you have any decency asking for such things in public? Besides," he adds, “you already know I'm yours. So why ask?"

"Because I don't like it when you say those things-- it's not funny!" He has to withhold himself from grasping Sehun’s waist, pulling the cat boy closer. His knuckles whiten with how tight his grip is around the cart's handles. Looking away, he pleads with all deities in existence that no one sees this swell of emotion– especially that Sehun doesn’t see. Crying in a grocery store is so unbecoming.

Luckily, he doesn’t-– the catboy concedes with a bemused snort. "Okay, okay, I won't." He holds the box of cupcakes up, "Now, can I get these?"

"I'll get you better ones from a patisserie."

"No, I want these ones."

Chanyeol frowns. “I bet they’re disgusting.”

“You’re disgusting.”

“You’re having my baby. Surely I can’t be that disgusting, can I?"

Satisfaction rumbles in his chest at the sight of the pink that blossoms on Sehun’s cheeks. The younger hybrid’s tail perks up, the blonde tip flicking in annoyance. He pouts and Chanyeol coos at him.

increased amounts of casual touching—

In South Korea, PDA is common. Hugging, kissing, arms around arms, hands in hands, every corner turned some sort of (publicly-safe) intimacy can be seen.

Chanyeol's been told he and Sehun don't look like a typical couple. They've always differed from the norm, not because of insecurity, but because it's just not them. Standing close together, shoulder to shoulder is pretty close. Maintaining eye contact, holding deep, animated conversations, that's all.

Even around friends, sitting thigh to thigh is the closest they've gotten. Sometimes, when he's overcome in a fit of laughter, Chanyeol drapes himself over Sehun, but that's only if the catboy is beside him- which isn't a common occurence around company.

They're going out to meet a few friends for dinner. Nothing too formal-- barbecue at the same restaurant they've been to since college, when Sehun had been a freshman, new to the friend group, and Chanyeol, a senior readying to leave.

Chanyeol looks at himself through the standing mirror in the living room's hallway, inspecting his outfit. A jacket over a plain white tee and baggy pants. Nothing too outlandish-- so why is Sehun staring at him?

He turns to Sehun, who graces the loveseat in the living room, his legs crossed, biting on his thumbnail. His gray eyes widen when he meets Chanyeol's gaze, "Hm?"

"You're staring," Chanyeol says. "What's up?"

Sehun straightens up, the look in his slate gray eyes discernible. Worry creases his forehead, "I... I don't know." His shoulders slump, a sigh passes his pink lips, "I want you."

"And that's...." Chanyeol narrows his eyes, "something you don't want?"

Sehun nods, pulling himself out of the chair. "We're going out for dinner, I can't just ask you to fuck me against the wall, can I?" Heat floods Chanyeol's face and he watches Sehun approach him, who reaches out to fix his necklace.

"I mean," A bemused smile grows on Chanyeol's face, "you definitely can. And I most definitely could."

His boyfriend blows out a breath. "But I want more than that, too."

"What more is there?" The wolfboy's gaze drops to the midriff, to the baby bump concealed by his own hoodie. He pulls Sehun closer towards him, rubbing his boyfriend's arms, "Do you want to cancel?"

Sehun gives him a vehement shake of his head, "No, no. I want to go-- I just..." His gaze drops to Chanyeol's hands, and it's like a lightbulb lights above his head with how he perks up. "Can I hold your hand?"

"Uh... yeah, Sehunnie. You don't have to ask."

The carboy's tail jumps, the tip curling up, and Sehun looks at him like he's created light. "Oh, okay! Now, let's go. I don't want to be late."

Surrounded by their friends-- Baekhyun, Chen, Kai, Tao... where Sehun would rather sit between Tao and Baekhyun, a panther-hybrid and a dog-hybrid, he instead chooses to settle down beside Chanyeol, who slid down the booth's chair to make room for his boyfriend, trying very hard to veil his surprise.

Sehun hasn't let go of him in about forty minutes. He had to let go of Chanyeol's hand; how else was the wolf boy going to grill his meat for him? But they're still connected, much to Chanyeol's pleasure.

The older hybrid’s thigh is pressed against Sehun's, the younger man's blonde tail brushing against his own wolf tail too often to happen accidentally.

"You two seem awfully touchy-touchy," Baekhyun comments, reaching over Chen's plate (who whines in protest) for seaweed salad, "what's the secret?"

Both Kai and Tao nod, side to side, eerily in tune with one another. "Hyung looks like an emoji." Kai snickers, sticking his chopsticks in his mouth and pulling the corners of his lips into a wide smile. He makes a goofy face, turning to the panther hybrid, Tao, who laughs at his boyfriend, only shutting up when he turns to Chanyeol, who's been watching them, unimpressed.

Sehun looks relatively unbothered, sipping at his juice-- no soju, unfortunately-- "We're having a baby."

Baekhyun chokes, Tao’s jaw drops and the gasp Chen lets out is loud enough to crack glass. Kai, the bear hybrid, gapes back and forth between Sehun and Chanyeol, "Are you sure you should be drinking then, Hyung?" He asks innocently.

From the corner of his eyes, he sees Sehun's ears flatten against his head and feels a movement beneath the table and assumes with how Kai yelps and winces, Sehun's landed a swift kick to his shin.

"I'm the one who's having the baby." He hisses, eyes narrow. Kai's eyes widen-- as do Baekhyun's, and Tao's--- questions run through Chanyeol's mind, but before he can even open his mouth, understanding falls upon the table and within moments, their friends erupt into various cheers, congratulations and questions.

Beneath the table, he squeezes Sehun's thigh. And in the slightest of movements, the younger man leans into him.

or the heightened desires for physical intimacy—

Ah,” Sehun lets out a satisfied sigh, shifting beneath Chanyeol’s touch, “Don’t stop hyung, please,” reaching out to brace Chanyeol’s forearms with his hands, a wrinkle between his eyebrows as sweat beads on his forehead. A flushed face, glossy eyes, red, split slicked lips– Sehun is a baroque painting of desire, of sin.

Chanyeol is an indulgent man. He drinks the sight of Sehun’s ruination in, leaning down, “I don’t want to stop. So I’m not gonna.” He presses a kiss against the corner of the younger man’s lips. His knees dig into the mattress as he adjusts Sehun’s thighs around him, making it so they’re more connected to the core than they possibly could ever be.

It’s almost a weird position, with Sehun angled to his side, one leg wrapped around Chanyeol’s hip, his other leg bent and pressed against the bed, his head against pillows. The wolfboy keeps him in position, situated on his knees and filling the spaces between Sehun’s body.

Sehun had taken off from work because he hadn’t been feeling well. Not any sickness, not an emotional issue– they’d exchanged a look when Chanyeol had taken a break from the studio, the air drawing tight– and there’d been minimal words spoken that brought them here, in bed.

Chanyeol’s always been an indulgent man, but during pregnancy… his assumptions had been different. It’d been an awkward question asked to Sehun’s doctor: “Is…. is sleeping together still okay to do?”  Sehun had been uncharacteristically demure, a red flush taking over his cheeks. The doctor, on the other hand, had been very supportive and said that it was, to quote, “ beneficial to have sex during pregnancy for it combats stress hormones ” So, who are they to deny medical fact?

Especially since pregnancy hormones have made him practically insatiable this last month, Sehun accepts him as if he was made to. His body pliant, his muscles lax.

It’s not like Chanyeol’s any better. One glance at the now very obvious heft of Sehun’s midriff has a sharp pang of desire shooting straight through him. It only takes a shared look for the both of them to crash into each other, a knee between thighs and mouths on mouths. Just as they are now– Chanyeol rolls his hips, pushing deeper into Sehun.

Sehun’s eyelashes flutter and Chanyeol swears he sees a few tears fall down his angled cheekbones. God, and what the sight does to his ego. The heat in his gut coils and tightens, the muscles in his abdomen flexing as he bucks further into Sehun faster and faster.

And when the orgasm continues to build-- the need for release begins to burn-- he comes, pressing his body against Sehun's, sinking his teeth into junction between the catboy's shoulder and neck. Hot, coppery blood is drawn. Sehun sobs, his body jerking beneath Chanyeol, the wolf boy feeling his come spurt between them.

Sweat slicked chests heave, sucking in air, flush against each other. Chanyeol presses his lips against the bite mark, running his tongue over the wound apologetically. The catboy shifts beneath him, but Chanyeol is still too spent to move.

Sehun runs his hand over Chanyeol’s nape, a soothing gesture, and it is only when Chanyeol’s caught his breath, over the slowing of his thumping heart, is when he realizes Sehun is purring. It’s a soft rumbling that makes Chanyeol all too acutely aware of the exhaustion dragging his body into slumber.

A new, toasty warmth encompasses him-- but he wince as he pulls out, feeling the cold bedroom air, his cock sensitive.

"You okay?" He meets Sehun's gaze, shiny jewels of gray.

The younger man nods, his tongue darting over his lips. "That was good." He says, his voice hoarse.

Chanyeol feels his eyebrows jump, pushing himself up off of the catboy and onto his heels, "Good?" He echoes, shrill. "I fucked the life out of you and all I get is 'good?'"

Sehun's eyes curve up as he lets out a breathless chuckle, reaching up to push Chanyeol's hair back, "Do you mean you 'fucked a life into' me? Because you have, appa." And at that, Chanyeol's cock twitches pathetically by his thigh. Sehun watches and giggles-- but jerking up, with his laugh drawing out into a moan when Chanyeol leans down and in between his legs.

it is in the sire’s best interest to indulge in such hankerings, for they more or less benefit both parents of the baby.

“Why hasn’t the bastard come yet?”

Chanyeol stares at the heft of Sehun’s belly as the younger hybrid waddles from one side of the room to the other. Sitting on the bouncy ball the doctor provided them to “speed up” Sehun’s contractions, he holds a cup of ice for Sehun, counting down the minutes since Sehun’s last contraction.

They came to the hospital several hours ago, when contractions were about twenty minutes apart. It’s been a slow crawl to get where they’re at now, with Chanyeol having massaged Sehun’s back to induce the second stage of labor— but now Sehun paces around the room, heaving in short breaths.

“Don’t be mean!” He tuts, smoothing the hospital gown over his belly, “She’s just shy.”

Chanyeol watches him. Sehun’s absolutely glowing, a flush riding on his cheeks as his body prepares itself to birth his child. Their child. A heat pools in his chest and Chanyeol plucks a cube of ice from the cup, chomping on it noisily, “When was your last contraction?”

Sehun hums, turning and heading towards the windows, “Four— no, three minutes ago?” Then with a sharp breath, “I just had another.” He announces, stopping by the bed to brace the side with both hands. “They’re getting shorter now.”  He shuts his eyes, dropping his head and lets out a small, breathless laugh. “Yeah, definitely shorter.”

Chanyeol jumps up, putting the cup down and immediately coming to his side. “I think you must be in active labor,” He says tentatively, his hands hovering over Sehun’s lower back. “Do you want a massage?”

“No,” Groaning, Sehun gives a terse shake of his head. “You should probably call the doctor.”

A few hours later, wiped down and swaddled in a pale blue cloth in Sehun’s arms, is Park Haejin. All Chanyeol can do is stare at his daughter. Just earlier she had been red and wailing, and now... He’s nearly falling out of his chair with how far out he’s sitting in it; he’s observing, really, as she does what all newborns do after being fed and changed: sleep.

“I know it’s too early to tell since she’s like, four hours old, but she’ll be a beauty,” he marvels, full of emotion. “She definitely takes after her mother.”

Sehun glances at Chanyeol, “You and your flattery.” He shakes his head, a soft smile spreading across his lips. After a while, he says, “She has your nose.”

“Really?”

“Yeah. And both of your ears, too.” A small, silver wolf ear twitches slightly when Sehun reaches out and grazes it with a finger.

Chanyeol looks at him, “You’re okay with that?”

“Of course I am. They’re cute.” The catboy's words are quiet, his smile tender. Haejin sighs, still fast asleep, snuggling against Sehun's chest.

Feeling his tail perk up, Chanyeol gives him a hopeful glance, "Really?"

“On her." With an eye roll, Sehun amends, "Not you.”

“Ouch.” Chanyeol pouts. “How mean.” He feigns hurt with a hand on his chest. Sehun gives him a wry look, tilting his head up for a kiss. Ever obedient, Chanyeol gives him one.

Knowing the changes that occur and how to deal with them, as  the pregnancy reaches its ending months, remember that it is not a sprint to the end and enjoy every moment with your mate. After birth, though the joy of having a pup will be unsurmountable, peace and quiet will be hard to find.

To reiterate, having a pup is a scary thing. To create a life– though it is tough, and the journey is long, it is extremely rewarding– as well as a beautiful experience that only increases in its beauty as time progresses and as your pup grows up-- just as the relationship with you and your mate will only strengthen with time.

Something’s off. Whether the last couple notes of the guitar riff are a few octaves too low, or the timing for the last chorus is slightly off– Chanyeol blanks as he stares at his computer screen, his electronic guitar a dead weight on his lap. Tightness pulls at his head, the hot white burn of strain behind his eyes almost unbearable. He straightens up in his chair and hears his back crack and winces. Something isn’t right and it’s itching him beneath his skin.

“Your daughter,” Sehun starts, taking a seat on the sofa, “can not stop fussing. She’s hungry, she cries, but she doesn’t feed. She’s tired, but doesn’t nap.”

“Why?” The wolfboy watches him settle into the sofa, furrowing his brows, “What’s wrong?”

“She wants to be around the both of us, I think.”

“Really?” Chanyeol looks at his daughter, at her chubby cheeks and shiny eyes. She looks back at him, a drool covered fist in her mouth. Her little wolf ears are perked up, soft and silver just like her hair. She babbles nonsensically, punching out her other fist in his direction, clearly enjoying herself. “How can you tell?”

Sehun nods. “Mhm. I read somewhere that it’s something about wolf instincts. Primal, innate in the hybrid psyche. Babies can sense their parent’s relationship, and the better the connection, the happier they are.” He glances down at Haejin, cooing, “See? She’s not fussing anymore.” He gives Chanyeol a smile, his eyes glimmering, “You’re a miracle worker, hyung.”

“You flatter me, Sehunnie.” Chanyeol swallows, his mouth dry and his heart knotting his chest. There’s a burning behind his eyes and he blinks furiously, “She really is happy, isn’t she?” Sehun shifts Haejin so she’s facing himself, brushing the hair out of her face. The light in his eyes is almost blinding, the look on his face so soft, so tender.

“Gosh,” he exhales, “I really hope that she is.”

Haejin grabs onto Sehun’s hoodie string– Sehun delicately pulls it out of her hand, and then she tugs at the zipper of his hoodie, her tiny wolf ears flattening against her head. A whine comes from the back of her throat. Unzipping his sweater, he shifts her so she’s tucked in his arms and under his hoodie. She nurses soundlessly, eyes fluttering shut.

Sehun looks back up at him, his eyes widening, “Oh, am I disturbing you? I can go so you can focus.”

He moves, starting to get up before Chanyeol hastily shakes his head, waving his hands in opposition, “No, no, not at all, Sehunnie. Stay. I want you two here.”

Chanyeol gets a slow, tentative nod in return. “Okay. But don’t let me get in the way of your work.” Sehun blows out a breath, leaning back and resting his head against the back of the sofa.

With one last look, the wolfboy turns back around in his chair, meeting the dark screen again. This time, he’s feeling far better than before and adds some effects into the song, altering the chord progression, adding transitions between verses– rerecording the last chorus’s guitar riff. Though it takes a while, when he listens to the song in full, it all clicks. It feels as though it’s supposed to be– natural, whole. And once he sends the file to the sound mixer, he shuts his set off and turns around-- Sehun's still there, watching Haejin sleep in his arms.

Chanyeol's tail wags.

There truly is no greater joy than the one of starting a family.

++ bonus!

"It's been such a long time since you were this huge," Chanyeol marvels at Sehun's midriff. "Would it be weird to say that I missed it?"

He looks up and almost chokes on his own spit at the sheer horror on Sehun's face. "Yes, Chanyeol, it is." The catboy nods slowly, "But it's very on brand."

Chanyeol feigns affront, doubling back, "You callin' me weird?"

"You're the one who said you liked me huge!"

"But that's not what I meant~" Chanyeol whines. Sehun raises an eyebrow.

"You really have to get better at wording your thoughts properly."

"Park Junior two, are you hearing this?" Chanyeol leans down, leveling a look with the slight swell of the catboy's abdomen, "Start kicking your mother."

Sehun's tail swishes behind him. "I'm only three months along. Haejin didn't start kicking until the five month month mark."

"Oh. Well, what I meant," Straightening up, Chanyeol emphasizes the syllable, "was that having a baby suits you. You hadn't showed this much with Haejin, and I missed how you looked pregnant." He reaches for Sehun's arms, and though the amused-slash-disgruntled look on Sehun's face doesn't fade, he lets himself be pulled into Chanyeol's hold, "Is that any better?"

The catboy lets out a decisive sound, his right cat ear twitching, "A little. But it's still kind of weird."

"Hey. It's the effort that counts." Chanyeol grins.

"Guess so. Now let's go, we've got to pick up Haejin from kindergarten."

"How much time do we have?"

"An hour. But it's nearly a thirty minute drive, not counting traffic."

Chanyeol grins wolfishly, leaning into him, "That's enough time, right?"

"Guess so." Sehun hums affirmatively, draping his arms over Chanyeol's shoulders, pushing himself closer against the wolf boy, their second baby pressed snugly between them.
