A For the Want of a Nail of ftwoan

Summary:

Mastermind was one of the top villains in japan. Until he got caught, that is.

This is based off of Cloud's Mastermind series. If you somehow haven't read it, go do that right now. I'm talking to you, Patrick.

Chapter Text

Izuku was disappointed. He had agreed to meet up with these thugs because Giran vouched for them, but as it turned out, they were idiots. They needed help to deal with some encroaching competitors, but if you can’t deal with a few street thugs, you honestly should give up on villany.

Suddenly, the back door of the warehouse they were in exploded, and dozens of cops began strolling in and arresting the other villains. Izuku rapidly felt a set of thorny branches wrap around him. That would be Kamui Woods. Distantly, he could hear a cop shouting through a megaphone.

“Mastermind, this is Detective Tsukauchi from the Japanese Police Force. You are under arrest for accessory to multiple murders and other crimes. Do not resist.”

Izuku gave a deranged chuckle, and raced through his mind to try and find a solution to the predicament he was currently in. He then remembered that he kept a little pocket flamethrower on him for exactly this kind of situation. He pretended to surrender, and slowly reach for the flamethrower, and where was it? Izuku usually kept it in his right pant leg, but it wasn’t there. Maybe the other? No, it wasn’t there either. Then he felt a sharp tug, and realized that he was being pulled to Kamui.

“Oh, shit.”

As Tsukauchi walked into the interrogation room, he noticed that Eraserhead somehow looked even more tired than usual. He then took a glance at the interrogation room window, with Mastermind being cuffed to the table, his head down.

“Do you want to start the interrogation, or should we wait for Nedz-”

“Hello detective!” Nedzu exclaimed, springing out of Eraserheads scarf and startling Tsukauchi.

“Okay, so we can get starte-”

Tsukauchi cut himself off, as he looked into the cell for a second time. Now, Mastermind’s head was up, and there was one thing about him that stuck out more than anything else.

“How old is Mastermind exactly?”

“We are not sure exactly, but I put him somewhere around thirteen to fourteen!” Nedzu exclaimed chipperly.

“So what you’re saying is that for the past nine months, we have been consistently outwitted by-”

Aizawa gave a large sigh “By a teenager, yes.”

“So, are we going in?” Tsukauchi inquired.

“I see no reason to delay!” Nedzu asserted.

And so, the trio walked into the cell.

Detective Tsukauchi began the interrogation. At the sight of the party coming in, Mastermind took a much more relaxed pose, and swung his feet onto the interrogation table, a fact that slightly worried Tsukauchi. “Well Mastermind, you are accused of several counts of accessory to murder, one count of murder, and possession of several illegal support items. Do you have any stories explaining those?”

“ I do have a question.” Mastermind replied.

“And that is?”

“How exactly are you going to pin me to a bunch of criminals that are in no way connected to each other beyond reasonable doubt?”

“We have our ways, and besides, if all else fails, we’ve got you for certain on the support items charge.”

“Okay, you’ve gotten me on what, six months of highway cleanup? Listen, to get a jury that would convict me, you would have to rig it to an unbelievable and absurdly obvious extent.” True, Tsukauchi’s quirk rang.

The detective took a long breath. “May I ask why you are so confident in that fact?”

In response to this line of inquiry, Mastermind began reaching down his leg. The detective and Eraserhead rapidly reached for their weapons.

“Hey hey hey hey hey, I’m not trying anything violent here.” True, Tsukauchi’s quirk pinged again.

Continuing on, Mastermind slowly began untying his shoes. Then afterwards, he took off his socks.

“Why are you doing tha–” Aizawa probed.

“Are you open to making a deal?” Nedzu butted in.

For the first time, Tsukauchi gazed at Nedzu. It was almost imperceptible if you weren't looking for it, but the rodent seemed almost excited. His eyes were a tad bigger, as was his grin, and his tail was swooshing around.

“As a matter of fact, I am!” Mastermind replied. He, too, seemed to be excited, carrying an almost feral grin. “I wish to attend UA, preferably as your personal student!”

“And in return?” Nedzu questioned.

“All charges against me are dropped, and my mom doesn’t know anything about what I’ve been doing.” Mastermind exclaimed.

“Deal!” Nedzu almost shouted, shaking Mastermind’s hand.

All the while, the other two men in the room looked on in horror, too shocked to say anything, and too powerless to do anything.
