Chapter Text
Izuku was approaching a new victim. He was targeted by one of All for One's assassins yet again and with every incident the number of people who have suffered because of it only grew. This time it was a middle aged women with no defining features except for her pure white eyes. She had been held hostage by the assassin in an attempt to use her to negotiate his surrender. What the man had not accounted for was that in doing so he left himself open to a surprise attack from under the rubble. He had gotten cocky, thinking he had won he let his guard down and in the end it lead to another failed assassination attempt.
"Are you okay, any injuries?"
He asked softly. Really, he didn't think he had the energy to speak with any more force then he just did. It had been weeks since he last properly slept and the last time he ate was the day before, but only enough to keep himself going. Other then that he had been living on coffee in order to keep himself awake.
The lady looked up from where she had collapsed to the floor after her release. Her pure white eyes seeming to glow against the dark of the night. Wait. No wait they were actually glowing.
"Oh no, no no no no! I'm so sorry I didn-"
Was the last thing he heard before the world around him started to fade.

Next thing he knew, he looked to be in the same place, but now it seemed to be late in the afternoon, clear of any rubble and the street was bustling. When he fully regained his bearings, he realized everyone in the vicinity was staring at him. Soon, the crowd flew into a frenzy. People were panicking, stumbling over eachother to get as far away as they could. Others were pulling out their phones, seeming to dial a short number before putting the phones to their ears and hurrying away with the rest. It took a moment for him to realize that they were running away from him. Within the next second he was using Black Whip to flee the area.
It took a bit, but once he finally found an abandoned alleyway with no security cameras he stumbled into it and leaned himself against the cement wall to catch his breath. The way the crowd reacted was odd. He had been to enough hero fights as a kid to know. They were too quick to panic. Other then that, from what he could tell before he made his escape, their hadn't been a single person their with any kind of mutation. No scales, no extra appendages, no unnatural hair colours, nothing.
He looked to his side to see a dumpster and an old pack of newspapers beside it. Convenient, he thought to himself as he picked one up and looked at the cover. It seemed normal, other then the fact he didn't recognize any of the brands. When he looked up to the corner of the paper he realized why. 20XX November 16th was written where the date would normally be. At least, where the date he was used to would normally be.
The lady he had saved must have had some kind of time travel quirk, but one this powerful was almost unheard of. If the date on the paper was even close to right, then he had been sent almost 200 years into the past. Deciding to prioritize his safety, he found an old school bag and removed his hero costume leaving him in what he had been wearing underneath. He felt insecure without the protection his suit provided, but he knew that wearing it would only paint a target on his back.
He went to leave the alleyway when he heard the sound of sirens in the distance. Pressing himself to the wall, he waited as a cop car and a large black van passed him. On the back of the van was a logo printed in bold white writing. M.D.U, Metahuman Detainment Unit was written in small underneath those cursed initials. He had learned about the organization in history class. During the dawn of Quirks, when the government still didn't know what to do with the sudden emergence of superpowers which they dubbed Meta-abilities, they created a division to capture and detaine Metas. What happened to those who were caught isn't talked about, but it's pretty obvious that the emergence of quirk suppressants soon after it's creation couldn't of been done without testing. So illegal human experimentation was definitely on the list. Not that the government considered Metas to be human at the time.
This sight confirmed his suspicion. He really was in the past, and during the beginning of the Dawn of Quirks to boot. He looked back towards the dumpster and saw a dark blue beanie sitting near the top of the trash. Deciding it better to cover his hair then to risk discovery, he put the beanie on and then left the alley. November was chilly, though with how old the newspaper looked it could probably be December. Izuku was currently only wearing a pair of shorts, his T-shirt t-shirt, the beanie he picked up and his hero costume boots since he had nothing else to put on his feet. They looked enough like normal footwear that he figured nobody would find it too odd that they were steal toed.
He only made it 2 blocks down the sidewalk when someone tapped him on the shoulder. He flinched and turned to see a man that looked to be in his thirties.
"Listen, I don't have time to explain. Come with me, we can help you. We're a safe place."
The man said, pulling down his turtleneck just enough to show shimmering blue scales growing along his collar bone. Before he could answer, the man had already grabbed his hand and was leading him down the street. Deciding to trust the stranger, only because Danger Sense wasn't activating, he let himself be lead a few more blocks and then into an new alleyway with a white car parked in it. Once he was seated in the passenger seat and the man in the drivers seat, the man started up the vehicle and started to speak.
"Sorry we couldn't find you sooner, you only recently popped up onto our radar. How long ago did you receive your Meta-ability? Don't worry, it's safe to talk about it here. I'm part of the Meta revolution and a Meta as well if you couldn't tell by the scales."
Deciding it was probably safer to lie for now, he answered the man.
"I only found out I had a q...Meta-ability a few weeks ago, I've been trying to keep it on the down-low, but suddenly having green hair doesn't really help."
"Ya, I get it. I developed my ability while grocery shopping. I was really lucky the M.R found me when the did because the M.D.U had been right on my tail."
"If you don't mind me asking, how did you find me?"
The man hesitated, before seeming to come to a decision and answering.
"We have someone with the power to locate people with Meta-abilities, I was called to get you because I was the closest to your location. I haven't met them in person really. The Locator's identity is kept secret even from other members of the M.R. for safety reasons. You seem like a smart kid, I'm sure you can figure out why."
And Izuku could. If the M.D.U got their hands on someone with a quirk like that, picking off Metas would be child's play.
"Where are we going?"
"To one of the M.R.'s safe houses. It's somewhere you'll be able to stay hidden from those government douchebags. You won't have to actively participate in the revolution if you don't want to, but you will be excepted to help out around the living areas once in a while. Oh shoot! I forgot to ask, you got any family you think will be looking for you, or any family members you think are Metas or are accepting of Metas?"
"No need to worry about that, I've been an orphan for a while now. Not that I have any legal documents to prove anything. My mom was having an affair and tried to hide her pregnancy. I wasn't born in a hospital and my mom was so ashamed she never bothered to legalize my existence. I was home schooled until she died and I never met my dad so I've been living on the streets since then."
He felt horrible throwing his kind mother under the bus like this, but he needed a way to explain his lack of existence in any form of social media of legal documents. The man looked at him, sympathy written clearly on his face.
" Names Yuto Hashiro by the way, what's yours?"
"Midoriya Izuku."
"Well Midoriya, might as well buckle in, it's gonna be a bit of a ride before we get to the nearest safe house."
And with that the car fell into a comfortable silence. Izuku decided it was time to try and talk to the past users. They hadn't said a word since he ended up in the past. He took a moment to try and concentrate on his connection to One for All.
'Hey, is anyone here?'
'Who are you! How are you talking to me in my head!'
Izuku's eyes opened wide in shock. That was definitely the First's voice, but he couldn't sense anyone else through the connection. He had a bad feeling so he decided to test his theory.
'What day is it?'
'The 3rd of December, wait, dang it I didn't mean to give them information!'
Their was a moment of silence before Izuku felt a mental barrier be built between the two, separating their ability to communicate to eachother. Not that he planned on continuing their conversation, it was obvious to him now that that must have been the First when they were alive. He let out a sigh. This ment he was well and truly alone. He looked out the window and let his mind drift as buildings flew by his vision.
If it really was the First he just talked to, then that probably meant that he wouldn't be able to talk to the rest of the users considering most wouldn't have even been born yet. Though he may be able to talk to the Second soon, if he already saved the First that is. He remembered the Third mentioning offhandedly that it was only a few weeks after the incident that the First figured out he could pass on the quirk and decided to pass it on to the Second. Maybe the mental barrier would drop by then, though he wouldn't push against it in the meantime, better to let the First relax and not stress him over the strangers voice he heard in his head.
'In the mean time'
He thought as he leaned his head against the window.
'Might as well rest. Mister Yuto said it'd be a long trip so I'd better settle in.'
And with that, he let himself concentrate on the passing scenery. Deciding not to focus too much on all his intrusive thoughts, or how exactly he planned to get back to the future. Hopefully the lady's quirk had a time limit.
