Chapter Text
Louis Litt (& Alex Williams)
Five months after his relationship with Mike started, Harvey was put in charge of leading a class action suit against Delta Airline. Delta support staff was suing for unpaid overtime. The class was made of secretaries, receptionists and various administrative support staff from the company. The deposition of Delta’s executives would take place in New-York, at the firm defending the company. That firm happened to be Litt Wheeler Williams Bennett and the attorney of record on the case was Samantha.
Mike, being a very busy managing partner, trusted him to bring the case to a close and so, Harvey made the way from Seattle to New-York on his own. Well not really. Mike asked him to take one of their associates, Camille Marks, a very promising second year associate who had graduated 2nd of her class from Stanford.
The young woman had never been on the East Coast and looked through the window of the car as they travelled from JFK to their hotel in awe. Harvey didn’t know her much but Mike had told him she had quite the eye for detail.
After a restful night, they met in their hotel lobby and made their way by cab to the offices of Litt Wheeler Williams Bennett. For the first time since they arrived in New-York, Camille asked a question as they entered the building.
“Doesn’t it feel strange? To be back I mean…”
“Very strange. Why do you ask?”
“I mean… Going against friends must be hard.”
“I depend if you manage to put aside the personal.”
Bullshit answer of course would tell Mike before bringing up the example of the Gillis takeover. Harvey didn’t have time to reflect much more that the elevator’s doors were opening at the 50th floor. And Louis was waiting for them. Without a moment hesitation, Louis wrapped his arms around Harvey. After the initial surprise, Harvey hugged him back.
Introduction were quickly made before Louis said:
“Samantha is fully on this. So, what do you say we meet tonight for dinner and drinks. Alex will be there.”
The deposition went well. Very well in fact. They landed a couple of punches and Harvey saw that Samantha didn’t enjoy that. She followed him to the elevator and said:
“Wow, even if you work for the good guys now you are still an arsehole.”
“Thank you, I’ll take that as a compliment.”
Harvey offered to Camille to join him, Louis and Alex for drinks but she declined, saying she wanted to do some sight-seeing. The three men met in some bar in Midtown Manhattan. Louis and Alex were there. They toasted and the conversation started to flow very easily. Louis and Alex seemed close, good friends. Apparently their families met for dinner every Saturday, alternating each week between each other’s house.
“What about you?” asked finally Louis. “How are you since the divorce? I thought you and Donna were perfect for one another.”
“We both found out we were better as friends than as a married couple. We both made a mistake.”
“At least the divorce card must help you to pick up some gorgeous West Coast models,” commented Alex, before taking a sip.
Harvey knew him and Mike had kept their relationship a secret and they had agreed not to tell anyone at the office for now. But this was Alex and Louis, two of his best friends. And they lived 3000 miles from Seattle. And, he wanted to brag. He wanted to brag about his perfect boyfriend and share with his friends his happiness.
“Actually I am seeing someone… Have been for five months.”
“Well, that was fast!” commented Alex.
“Who is the unlucky woman?” asked Louis teasingly.
“It’s Mike.”
A silence fell between the three men. Harvey looked at his two friends who were just gob-smashed, looking at him like he had announced them he was quitting the legal profession to become a farmer or some shit. Louis was the first one to speak, after drinking his glass of Macallan 25 in one go.
“But Mike is a man.”
“Thank you for that observation Louis, I hadn’t noticed.”
“No, I mean, everybody knows you are all about women.”
“I know for a fact, Harvey is not all just women but still, Mike…” commented Alex.
“Yes Mike… And I see it bothers you so let’s just call it a night.”
Harvey stood up and was about to leave when Louis put his hand on his arm and forced him to sit back down and saying:
“Sorry, just… It’s a surprise… But if you are happy. So, does Mike make you happy?”
He nodded and then Alex ordered another round of drinks so they could toast to that.
During the week of depositions, Harvey managed to negotiate an acceptable settlement for his clients and it was signed on Friday afternoon, only four hours before his flight back to Seattle. Samantha didn’t seem happy that Delta had accepted the deal but the lawsuit was giving them a bad publicity and they wanted to settle. Before living his former firm, he dropped by Louis’ office to say goodbye. He was reading the Wall Street Journal and smiled when he saw him.
“With your settlement in the bag, I suppose you are ready to go.”
“I just came to say goodbye.”
“It was nice to see you Harvey. Say hello to the future Mr Specter.”
Harvey couldn’t help himself to smile to that and asked Louis what made him say that.
“I thought about it. You and Mike. You were meant to be. Just… Take care of him.”
“Louis, he takes care of me.”
